Järnvägsanställda rösta för strejk.
Railway workers vote to strike.

MÅLMÖHOLM: In response to a management decision to cut holiday hours by three days and wages to be frozen for two years to meet the cost cutting demands of the Privatisering och liberalisering kommittén (Privatisation and Liberalisation Committee of the Great Parliament), the Järnvägsanställdaförbundet (Railway Workers' Union) has voted with a strong mandate of eighty-five percent to start a general strike on the railway lines starting at ten o'clock this evening. The President of the Railway Workers' Union told us this morning when the vote was held that the Union was not prepared to go back to work until the Government and Management removed the holiday pay cut and the wage freeze citing the recent forecast for profit for the Railways.

The Government has said that it was disappointed with the decision to strike but respected that the workers' had a legal right to do so and said that they looked forward to continued negotiations with management and the union to find a common solution.

Management at Royal Skånska Järnvägar (Royal Scanian Railways) were not available for comment by publication deadline.

Järnvägsanställda börjar strejka
Railway workers start strike.
MÅLMÖHOLM: The deadline set by the Järnvägsanställdaförbundet (Railway Workers' Union) for the Government and Management to accept its' demands have passed and thus the workers' have gone on an indefinite general strike. Trains across Skånskige Statsunionen have come to a stop, leaving passengers stranded and many unsure how they will get to work, school or to visit family and friends.

The Great Parliament has called for an emergency session tomorrow at eight in the morning to discuss action towards this strike. Many employer associations have already complained to the Government that their businesses would be severely hurt if the strike lasted more than a few days.

Management at Royal Skånska Järnvägar (Royal Scanian Railways) said that they would continue to negotiate with the Union and would be introducing bus lines to continue along inter-city lines but that due to cost, they would not be able to provide services to more rural routes serviced by Landsbygden Tåg, which is also on strike.

Although train travel between Batavië and the Statsunionen is normally restricted to special cases, we do hope for a quick resolution to this strike. Surely the people require the basic necessity of transportation, although the railway workers certainly need a just and fair workplace. We wish the general public and the people the best during the strike.

Strejk slutar som regeringen grottor i.
Strike ends as Government caves in.
MÅLMÖHOLM: At ten this morning, the strike on the railway lines have come to an end. The Government in an emergency meeting issued a decree forcing the Royal Skånska Järnvägar (Royal Scanian Railways) to meet the demands of the Union and end the strike. Many analysts say the Government forced the end of the strike due to the strong rumours of the stepping down of AGE Secretary-General Joaquim Rafael of Levant. Such a move would trigger a new Heads of State and Government Summit, an honour that Scania is set to hold.

The Union representative told DN that they were very happy that the Government 'protected' and 'respected' the rights of workers. This backing down would essentially shelve the Government's plan to privatise the state-owned railway company, in response to an AGE Directive on the liberalisation of railway services.

The Government plans to meet this afternoon to discuss additional ways to compile with the AGE Directive. Our analysts say that the Government, having lost the privatisation battle, will likely try to introduce free competition on railway lines but allow for the state-owned company to remain intact and maintain the 'social role' of the railway.

Belmontska utrikesminister i Nysjöping idag.
Belmontien Foreign Minister in Nysjöping today.
NYSJÖPING: News leaked out today from the Chancellory of External and AGE Affairs that a highly secure visit from the Belmonti Minister is to be scheduled for today. The Belmonti visit has become quite controversial with an Associated Press report that the Belmonti Government was planning to support terrorist organisation in communist countries. This is seen as being a huge embarassment for Målmöholm as the Government had been a massive support of Belmonti accession into AGE, so much so that our contact within the Chancellory said that a draft accession treaty was to be discussed.

Now it seems that the Government while trying to maintain cordial relations with Belmont, is also trying to distance itself from its previously pro-Belmont position. This is likely to prevent tensions with Batavie due to shared borders on one of the largest gas fields in Europe. The Chancellory did not officially comment on the news and said that the Government was 'a committed partner for peace in Europe and maintains cordial ties with all states' and that 'the meeting with the Belmonti Minister was a routine affair and should not denote any change in policy towards our northern neighbours.'

The Christian Democrats' together with the Social Democratic and Green Alliance, hammered on the Government today during Question Time in the Storriksdag for its failed foreign policy and demanded fresh elections to 'start anew'.

The Party and People trust that our neighbours to the south will carefully deal with the Belmonti government. Their recent provocations against peaceful communist states is most troubling. It is hoped that talks in Vlaanderen can be arranged with Skånsige officials in order to prevent any potential diplomatic misunderstandings.

Verkställande Kansler beslutar att avgå.
Executive Chancellor decides to resign from office.
MÅLMÖHOLM: Having been at the helm of Government for just over ten years, Executive Chancellor Pers Andersson announced this morning that he was calling it quits. In his press conference, Chancellor Andersson said that he was 'proud to have eliminated the massive Skånske debt' and that he 'did not regret the decisions that he made in office.'

Chancellor Andersson was elected in 1999, when his Partnership for Scania alliance with the Moderates and the Centre defeated the Social Democratic government of nearly twenty years. Andersson inherented on of the largest debts per capita in the world and a Skånskige that was close to being declared bankrupt by credit agencies in Danzig.

His first Government introduced deep cuts to the Administration of Government, which caused an increase in unemployment while trying hard to maintain the level of state benefits. His Government also passed the Act on the Revenues and Expenses of Government Act, 2000. Which over his tenure was passed three times in three different Storriksdags, becoming fundamental law. The law provides that the Statsunionen is not permitted to operate deficits unless under 'extreme national need'.

Over his ten year tenure, unemployment has fallen to the lowest rates since the end of the Great War and Government revenues are up. There are rumours in political circles that the Chancellor is preparing to run for the AGE Secretary-Generalship, something the Chancellor did not confirm or deny during his Q&A with the Press.

Storriksdag samtycker till Skånskoil aktieförsäljning.
Storriksdag agrees to Skånskoil share sale.
MÅLMÖHOLM: Yesterday in a vote in the Storriksdag regarding the matter of the purchase of ten percent share in Skånskoil, the Storriksdag voted to approve the sale of the share to the KIW Investment Group (Wiese).

The Stock Exchange submitted the request to the Storriksdag under the Energy Security Act, 1999, which prohibited the sale of shares in Skånskoil over seven point five percent without authorisation of the Storriksdag.

Engelskspråkiga Miriam Clark-Mallström valts som Verkställande Kansler.
Anglophone, Miriam Clark-Mallström, selected as Executive Chancellor.
MÅLMÖHOLM: After the surprise resignation of Pers Andersson as the Executive Chancellor, the leaders of the Partnership for Scania (Liberals, Moderates and Centre parties) met today in Målmöholm to select a new Executive Chancellor from amongst their ranks. In four hours of intense negotiations, Chancellor of Finance, Miriam Clark-Mallström who is an Anglophone, was selected to lead the Government and take the position of Executive Chancellor.

Mrs. Clark-Mallström will be the first Anglophone and the third woman in the position of Executive Chancellor. Before entering politics, she was the Chief Economist for Skånskoil.

The nomination of Mrs. Clark-Mallström will be submitted to the Storriksdag for ratification.

Storriksdag att rösta om att tillåta val för Alliansen i Större Europa generalförsamling.
Storriksdag to vote on where to allow elections for the AGE General Assembly.
MÅLMÖHOLM: As the days get closer to the AGE Heads of State and Government Summit in Nystrå and the recent resignation of Pers Andersson as Executive Chancellor, internal affairs of AGE have been a strong issue of discussion within the Storriksdag. Later this afternoon, the Storriksdag is set to vote on a proposal from ''Citizens for a Democratic AGE'' on where or not to allow the delegation sent from Skånskige to be elected or not.

Under the current Treaty rules, member-states are permitted to decide themselves how they appoint their delegation to the General Assembly. Till now, the General Assembly has been selected by Parliament of concerned citizens and former parliamentarians. Critics say this is illegitimate since AGE is empowered to deal with a wide scope of economic and social issues.

Analysts believe the Storriksdag will agree to the proposal and permit elections which will be held after the next HoSG Summit.

Coruña gäller för Alliansen för Större Europa medlemskap.
Coruña applies for AGE membership.
BREMEN: The Permanent Representative to AGE, Alexander Freij has confirmed the rumours that the Libertarian Republic of Coruña has formally applied for membership to AGE. Now the process is that the Secretary-General will formally respond to the request and forward it to the member-states for a vote under the conditions of Article 11 of the Treaty on the Establishment of the Alliance for Greater Europe, which call for qualified majority of two thirds of Heads of State and Government present at the AGE Summit.

Currently, the next AGE Summit shall be held in Målmöholm within a few weeks. AGE observers have stated that they are unsure member-state governments will be given enough time to review the data that becomes available to assess the membership request and might have to schedule another Summit within a month or two to deal exclusively with the membership issue.

Already the Executive Chancellor said in her morning press briefing that she was 'more for than against' membership for the spanish nation. When pressed further on the issue, she said that she hoped that she would not find any reasons against membership and was 'confident' that the membership issue could be tackled in time for the next AGE Summit in Nystrå.

Executive förbundskansler inställd att försättas i Belmont prata energi, bland lägsta punkten på ömsesidiga förbindelser i årtionden.
Executive Chancellor set to go to Belmont to talk energy, among the lowest point of mutual relations in decades.
PARIS: As the advance party for the Executive Chancellor arrived in Paris today to prepare for the arrival of the Executive Chancellor, many voices in Målmöholm question the wisdom of travelling to Belmont after the fiasco of the last trip only months earlier. Many members of the Government not so openly say that the event was a 'slap in the face' to Scania and that the Executive Chancellor should not be so willing to meet with anyone just to sell more oil and gas.

However the Office of the Executive Chancellor in a written statement said that the Executive Chancellor and her predecessors have always valued the friendship between Scania and Belmont and that such a trip now would be provide the critical restart in chilled relations at the moment. Additionally the statement said that such a deal on oil and gas exports could lead to thousands if not hundreds of thousands of new jobs in Scania.

The Opposition immediately discounted such a claim, saying that Belmont would purchase Scanian oil and gas regardless and that the Executive Chancellor was playing right into the hands of the 'revivial of Belmont' after the harsh snubbing provided over the last foreign visit.

Regeringen bekräftar att det vänstra aktivister kommer att tillåtas att resa till Skånskige Statsunionen för kommande toppmötet.
Government confirms that far-left activists will be permitted to travel to Scania for upcoming AGE summit.
MÅLMÖHOLM: As the upcoming AGE summit in Nystrå gets closer, discussions about anarchist and other far-left groups who wish to travel to Scania to protest the Alliance; which they describe as 'imperialistic' and 'the force of capitalist oppression' have been held in Målmöholm and in the morning Government press briefings the spokeswoman for the Chancellor of Justice said that they would be permitted free and fair entry rights to Scania. The Government shall only maintain that no persons with weapons of any sort may enter Scania but the Government respects the right to free speech and freedom of assembly regardless of ideology.

Civil liberty groups say that they are pleased with the Government Declaration on the matte. The summit organisers said today in a press statement that they will ensure that protestors are given as much access to the summit location as possible without breaching the legitimate security interests of the delegates within the summit itself.

The very purpose of Premier Millerand holding talks with his counterpart from Målmöholm is to reverse the worsening of bilateral ties. The friendship between Belmont and Skånskige is a long standing and strategic one and Paris would like these talks to serve as a catalyst to restoring the ties which have suffered so much in recent months.

AGE stats-och regeringschefernas möte öppnas i Nystrå.
AGE Heads of State and Government Summit opens in Nystrå.
NYSTRÅ: To great fanfare, the AGE Heads of State and Government Summit opened in Nystrå today at the International Centre for Peace. The Heads are meeting during the time of the year when the International Revolutionary Bloc and the European Defense Federation also are holding their summits. This year's summit in Nystrå will deal with the appointment of a new Secretary-General after the surprise resignation of Joaquim Rafael of Levant. The front runners, we have been told are former Executive Chancellor Pers Andersson and ousted former Prime Minister of Hosagovina Hans Donitz. Analysts say that this election will mark where the Alliance will be heading with Pers Andersson being seen as the economic candidate while Hans Donitz as the traditional military-defense candidate.

Other issues on the table at the summit will be the a proposal from the Executive Chancellor to have a Court of Justice for the Economic Community to apply community economic rules consistantly across the Alliance. This proposal is said to have the backing of the Levantine States but we will see how it goes. Additionally, the Executive Chancellor has hinted that she would like to see a Passport Union for the Alliance and an area of free movement for the Economic Community, in line with the Treaty.

Sources say that the Levantine delegates are going to bring up the informal Partnership for Peace (PfP) and try to have some sort of formal binding treaty structure created to tie the PfP into the Alliance. Additionally, the overall budget for the Alliance for the next year will be decided at the Summit and will be sent to the General Assembly for delineation.

EDF möte öppnas i Franken.
EDF meeting opens in Franken.
NÜRNBERG: Today in Nürnberg in Franken, the Heads of Government and State of the EDF have meet in their annual Summit. Our correspondents have been there to report interesting news out of the largest non-aligned Alliance in the world.

For our readers, the EDF is a strongly centrist alliance with representation of the German and French speaking states of the central continent. Structurally, it is less developed than AGE but is has a strong clout with non-aligns. Relations between Målmöholm and the EDF have traditionally been frosty at best. The Scanian Embassy in Franken is planning to be in the area of the Summit this week to relay Scanian concerns about the future of relations between the EDF and Scania. Rumours are at the Summit that neutral Wiese will be admitted as an 'associate member'.

Rykten att Wiese kommer att ansluta EDF som associerad medlem. Storriksdagen passerar upplösning av oro.
Rumours have that Wiese is set to join EDF as Associate Member. The Storriksdag passes resolution of concern.
MÅLMÖHOLM: The Executive Chancellory confirmed today that they had heard serious rumours that neutral Wiese would be admitted as an 'associate member' of the European Defense Federation, a centrist non-aligned alliance. The Executive Chancellory said in a press statement today that they were 'seriously concerned about this action' and that it 'put the ability of Wiese to host the Council of Nations in severe doubt.' Sources inside the External and AGE Affairs Chancellory say that a systemic review of relations between Wiese and Scania would have to be conducted in light of the news and if any there is any substance to it.

The Storriksdag which had earlier voted to allow the sale of a portion of the Skånskoil to a government owned investment firm in Wiese said they would be reviewing the sale and the future of a oil and gas agreement between Wiese and Scania in light of the news. One member of the Liberal People's Party said she didn't understand the logic of Wiese, turning against their traditional neutral role to join an alliance disliked and distrusted by both AGE and the LFS. Additionally, the Storriksdag passed a resolution of concern about Wiese's actions and called for Wiese to renounce its' EDF ambitions and return to its' traditional neutral role.

It is unclear at the moment if this posturing in Målmöholm is genuine concern about Wiese or just rhetoric to strengthen the Scanian position in the AGE Summit discussions and help the push for a Nordic Oil and Gas Community.

The Empire will closely observe the geopolitical shifts in regards to the political status of the Empire of Wiese and is confident that the extraordinary and special position that the nation has been tasked with by hosting the Council of Nations will be carefully taken into account by the respective concerned authorities when it comes to evaluating matters of international interest.

Yours sincerely,

Without expressed confirmation from our dear geographical neighbors in the Empire of Wiese, we will not jump to hasty conclusions. Though it should hereby be lodged in every man and woman's memory that we, the neutral Blue Union of Životinje predicted this outcome when Wiese was selected as the site of our Council of Nations. Our neighbors are many things, most of which are positive and respectable, but Wiese has never truly been neutral.

Lodging another notation, our sovereign nation does not claim to be perfect either, certain political powers within the Union have been less then neutral towards Communism - who have positions in the International Community. However, our honesty has been unprecedented, we do not conceal our occasional breaches in the streamline of neutrality.

"On behalf of His Imperial and Royal Majesty the Emperor, King and Archduke Friedrich Wilhelm the Second, and of His Imperial Majesty's Cabinet of Ministers, I formally confirm that the Empire of Wiese has, indeed, been invited to take part in the EDF Council as an observer state, and our government has accepted this invitation.

"As an independent, unaligned and sovereign power we assure the international community that our standing neutrality and reliability are not going to be changed. The observer status within the European Defence Federation is not going to change our independence and neutrality, and it serves as a formal connection of inter-governmental links between Wiese and other parties that are members of the EDF.

"I do understand, however, that this sort of formal ties with the EDF is creating concern with the international community, and this concern we understand. We do not wish to ignore the concerns of our international peers. As such, I would like to announce, on behalf of the Imperial Chancellor Otto von Baden, that the Imperial Cabinet of Ministers is prepared to organise bilateral summits between the Chancellor and ambassadors from any concerned governments, in order to personally and reliably assure them that our non-aligned status is standing as firm and unchanged as it was before the invitation.

"The governments of Oikawa, Scania and Zivotinje are welcome to dispatch their Augsburg ambassadors at the Palace of the Imperial Chancellor any time in order to hold intergovernmental talks regarding their concerns, so that they may see our honesty."

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Levantine States

Due to the recent actions taken by the Wiese government, it's recognition as a neutral power has been put under review by the Levantine Minister of Foreign Affairs. We wish to assure the Empire of Wiese that regardless of the neutrality of Wiese, we value our bilateral relations with the Empire highly, and would like to continue these.

Kung avlider från massiv hjärtattack, AGE möte uppskjuten.
King passes away from massive heart attack, AGE summit postponed.
NYSTRÅ: We have sad news to report this morning. At 10:21 this morning, King Carl-Erik II passed away from a massive heart attack. He was rushed this morning after collapsing during a regular walk through the Palace Gardens with Queen Dorothea to Lakes Regional Hospital. Already, the Executive Chancellor who is set to resign this morning to assume her role as the Chair of the Assembly of the States Union has called for the AGE Summit being held in Nystrå to be postponed for one to two weeks to allow her to complete her formal role.

The Palace has released a statement saying that the Assembly of the States Union would be called on the day following the end of the Christmas holiday. That would be Monday, December 28th. Already the delegates from across Scania have begun to come to Målmöholm. As it is custom, no candidate may declare themselves on the day of the King's death, nor may the press theorise who potential candidates might be. Under the Instrument of Government Act, 1918, the Assembly of the States Union consists of every mayor of every town over 2,000 persons and the Governors of the Provinces. In total, nearly 25,000 delegates have voting rights during this process.

The King is survived by Queen Dorothea of Arendaal who shall become the Queen Dowager of Scania and move into the Winter Palace in Northern Scania. Their three children, Henrik, Åsa and Jan-Erik will retain their titles of Prince and Princesses of Scania but will no longer have any role in the Scanian monarchy.
