Esteemed colleague,

the Kingdom of Franken is very concerned over the way the Kingdom of Belmont has recently chosen to take in their stand-off against Coronado. While we don't dispute any nation's right to choose its foreign policy as it pleases, His Majesty's Government does believe national sovereignty has its limits. These are trespassed if another nation's or several states' welfare is at stake. To save Belmont from bringing down itself and its trade partners, Franken and her allies are currently undertaking measures to protect our joint interests. For now it will remain a Demonstration der Stärke (1).

Nevertheless, the Kingdom of Franken and her closest allies are firm believers in the usefulness of joint diplomatic efforts. Therefore, I'd like to ask you to use your leverage with the Northern Council to exert pressure on Belmont to change their course. Isn't there a Cornavian equivalent to the Franconian expression 'Ideology is a nation's most expensive commodity. If you have too much, you pay dearly'?

With best regards,

R. Beaumont

Esteemed colleague,

Though the Commonwealth of Cornavia has declared neutrality in the ongoing conflict between the states of Belmont and Coronado, this does not carry an implication that the Cabinet would be blind to the ongoing conflict's geopolitical and strategic consequences.

However, the Cabinet views with concern the growing influence of the so-called Revolutionary Defense Treaty Organization in European affairs, particularly as both Coronado and Kryobaijan are in a position to influence their neighboring states in a way not available to RDTO memberstate Vangala due to pervasive Oikawan threats. Thus, the Occident is the logical location for expansion by the RDTO.

At the same time, the Cabinet considers Belmont as an unpredictable actor in regional politics, and given its proven capacity to destabilize Gallia and its vicinity as well as Great Sea/Long Sea trade routes drive home the fact that a Belmontien victory in the ongoing conflict is indesirable. Ergo, to find a balance neither party ought to emerge as a victor, but a regional balance keeping the two potential hazard factors of the region continuing to counteract each other is desirable.

The Council of Nations has not acted, and likely will not act in the conflict, leaving the only options in regards to the situation to allow the war to proceed unchecked or to respond through lesser international mechanisms.

Summa summarum: The ongoing meeting of the Great Council of the Northern Council in Whitehaven is likely to concern the Belmontien-Coronadic War. Provided that Nürnberg can help our ideal of a regional balance in Gallia, perhaps we will be able to help Nürnberg.

Regards,
Mr. William Fenner,

Esteemed colleague,

thank you for your agreement to assist us with the endeavour. Provided the Northern Council elects to support Nürnberg's view, please direct information and communication via the Franconian embassy in Cornavia.

With best regards,

R. Beaumont
