Kelasian PM Announces Policy of Engagement

Celes - Asgard Territory - Kelas

Earlier today during an interview on Good Morning Kelas Prime Minister Markus Ericsson revealed a new direction for Kelasian foreign policy. The PM stated that in response to what his government sees as growing threats to emerging and established democracies across Europe, Kelas will embark upon a diplomatic 'blitz' throughout the world. The campaign is designed, according to a follow-up statement from the Prime Minister's office, to reassert Kelas' once valued position as an arbiter of international disputes. In what some are calling a disturbing aside however, Mr. Ericsson has asserted that wherever diplomacy and the parliamentary process fails to 'protect the core human values of democracy and freedom' the use of 'persuasive force' may be applied. In a related story the Kelasian Parliament quietly passed a bill increasing the defence budget by 15% over the next three years.

Greetings to the Government of Kelas:

Many people within Batavië, a newly democratic state emerging from the ruins of a failed communist system, believe that opening relations with Kelas is something that must be done as quickly as possible. It would be my privilege to provide officials from the Government of Kelas a tour of the country and to discuss a healthy agenda of bilateral and multilateral ideas.

Your response is anxiously awaited for.

On behalf of the His Majesty's Government it is my great pleasure to extend greetings from the people of Kelas to those of Batavië. We would welcome a tour of your nation and extend the same invitation to you. It is our most sincere hope as well that our relations can be productive and beneficial to both our nations, and further the cause of democracy.

The Kryobaijani government welcomes the new Kelasian policy of greater positive engagement with the wider international community. Furthermore, the Revolutionary Council and the Intersectionalist Party of Kryobaijani applaud the current administration for its stated normative commitment to human rights, freedom, and the other progressive values that it has espoused. We look forward to cooperation with our northern neighbors, and hope that a diplomatic meeting can be arranged soon.

The Prime Minister Ericsson of Kelas is most cordially invited for a working visit to Einsiedeln should his time table permit. Details on the best suitable dates have been forwarded to the relevant Kelasian services. We hope the Kelasian side shall find the Free State's invitation worthy of note and shall give it suite.

Headline News Edition

Celes: The first leg of the Kelas' 're-engagement tour' through Europe is progressing well. Economic deals with Batavië and the promise of further investment in both countries gives hope for similar deals with other states.

Celes: Ministry official confirm the purchase of 200 surplus aircraft from Marquette. Reports are they will secondary fighters and not part of the Air Force's front line.

Astrlid: Premiere Kelasian software company IceStorm has released the sequel to their 1998 classic game, StarSiege. With the first game still wildly popular and even a sport in some eastern nations, hopes are high for even greater success.

Utgard: Geologists warn of potential volcanic activity in coming weeks in the Fenrir Mountains. Seismic reading near mountains such as Mt. Valkyr and Mt. Gallia have been unstable and the risk of landslides or even lava flow has become extreme. Evacuations of some high-risk villages have begun.

New Taranium: The National Museum of Human Rights opened today with government officials and local celebrities in attendance. While championed by the government as a symbol for Kelas of progressive human rights, some groups criticize what is in their minds, the patronizing attitude of some exhibits. Kelasian officials insist that all displays are simple fact, while others see them as vindicating a political message that only democratic, free-market societies can be just and that all other political systems are inherently exploitive.
