The Communist Party has continually strived to defend all sons and daughters of Mother Vangala across the world and understands the fears Nicosia had for the safety of its citizens. However, we cannot condone the payment of ransom to terrorist regimes and organisations.

A Personal Statement by HM the Sultan

We respect the Nicosian position with grave sympathy. The blame for the entirety of this terrible crisis lies with the Solaris regime, which held an entire nation hostage. The basic respect for human dignity and sanctity of life forced Our cousin, King Alexander IV, to bow to the pressure of the unholy pope.

However, We worry that this entire unfortunate situation will set an international precedent. How far can the terrorists of Torrence go before they are stopped? The international community must decide. If God wills it, such events will not transpire again.

Though understanding the motivations behind the actions undertaken by the Nicosian government in the resolution of this crisis, the Union likewise worries about the precedent presently set and that the Nicosian decision might have the inadverdent consequence of encouraging further transgressions by the regime in Torrence and other similar rogue states.

Hostages arrive in Lorraine, Nicosia slammed in the international arena

Metz

It was a solemn occasion as the hostages returned to safety, many of them underfed and physically injured. While the government refused to set a number, it confirms that 'several appear to have been executed'.

"Many were sent to coal mines to work and it appears as the children were intentionally being starved, living on a tablespoon of beans or corn a day" say Chancellor Valdez who flew to Lorraine to meet the hostages.

Meanwhile, the international arena openly supported Nicosia on several levels but condemned Nicosia for paying the ransom. "They are unaware of what our situation was. They have little room to comment, they dont know how our shoes feel. We did our best to bring the international community to help and they were too slow despite their fervent support. We did what we had to in order to prevent genocide. That was our call, not anyone else's" said the King.

Akwesasne would like to send its deepest and sincerest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones in this pure act of hatred and terrorism. We can only pray that some day those who have taken the lives of the innocent shall be brought to justice. Meanwhile, we are also relieved by the recent release of the surviving hostages being held in Solaren and we bid them a safe return to Nicosia.

Nicosians on edge, memorial service planned, Nicosia scolded

Syracuse

As tensions are still prominent, Nicosians are fearing further attacks. Chancellor Valdez was forced to raise the alert level to III today as police are severely strained. Even with police reserves activated, the Chancellor noted that without military aid, many public facilities would be without proper security.

The Chancellor also noted that the additional security would be required for the upcoming memorial service for the victims of the attacks at the Cathedral of St. Alexander. Around 2000 are expected to pack the cathedral with another several thousand outside, viewing on television screens.

As the international community continues to scold Nicosia for saving its citizens from certain death, Nicosia is remaining quiet. The Kingdom, still stunned from the the attacks and the taking of hostages has yet to lash out at Solaren. Many fear that the damage may be more extensive and the unwillingness of Nicosia to take any action may be the result of poor leadership. Many are doubting if the 4 year plan to move to a more democratic system, announced last year. Some are calling for faster reforms. When asked, the Chancellor brushed the question off.

Authorities name bombers, 11 arrested by security forces including 2 Solaris priests

Syracuse

Today, the Canstubljia released the names of the two bombers who attacked the Ajaccio Royal Hospital and a resort in Marinili. The Ajaccio bomber has been identified as Ernesto Berstini. Berstini, 34, worked as an electrician on a work visa. He had Solaris citizenship but had a pending application for Nicosian citizenship.

The second bomber has been identified as Enzo Trevi. Trevi, 29, had both Solaris and Nicosian citizenship. Records show that Trevi worked at the Solaris embassy in Syracuse from 2005 until 2007.

The two bombers were identified by vehicle records, video, and other means say police. Police also said that some video prior to the attack may be released shortly.

These announcements came after police and army forces moved to arrest 11 in connection with the bombings, including 2 Solaris priests. Reportedly both priests claimed diplomatic immunity from arrest as the church's doctrine is also the government's doctrine and as a result, the priests were in fact diplomats. Authorities say that due to the fact neither priest even applied for a Diplomatic Worker Card, neither are eligible for diplomatic immunity.

Statement From The Papal Office of The Sacred Kingdom of Solaren

If these two individuals turn out to be priests of the Solaris Church and are not released immediately into Solaris custody, the consequences will be devastating. It would be most unfortunate if Nicosia suffered more bombings because of their tyrannical regimes attempts to divert attention away from its cowardice towards two scapegoats.

First, allow us to say that threats are counter productive. Second, of the two priests arrested, one has been released without charge. The two priests are the priests of the Solaris Chapel of Syracuse and the Solaris Chapel of Ajaccio. The other, Father Luca Basti, has been charged with Conspiracy to commit terrorist acts. He will be afforded full representation and a fair trial.

As a further note, 3 of the other 9 will be released without charge.

The Solaris regime's warmongering behavior toward the sovereign nation of Nicosia is unacceptable and we demand the country stands down. It is endangering the trade and livelihood of the peoples of the Long Sea. The stability and prosperity of this region cannot be endangered by the unrelenting religious claims of one sovereign Government on the population of another. Such a concept of fanaticism is unacceptable in our day and time.

Nokanawa strongly urges the Solaren government to not resort to actions that would have both dire consequences for the Long Sea region as well as the attitude which the international community will adopt towards the Solaren government.

The Union echoes the statements expressed by our Touzen allies and our Hajri and Nicosian friends, stating that it is the right of the Nicosian state to try any suspected criminal offenders on its soil irrespective of nationality, provided that they are afforded a fair trial and not protected by other conventions such as diplomatic immunity.

The Solaren regime must cease and desist with its random political posturing and threat-making.

The continued attempts of Solaren to blackmail sovereign states with threats of terrorism can not be tolerated. If Solaren does not reverse its course, Carentania will be forced to take measures to prevent a further spread of violence from Solaren.

Tourism slowly being strangled

Syracuse

Nicosia has been in the past called 'The Capital of Cruises' and the 'Tourist Convention'. Boasting fine weather, a massive number of museums, cheap healthcare, and numerous resorts, Nicosia has been a prime tourist destination since the late 1950's.

Now the beaches, museums, and resorts that were once packed with tourists are empty and silent. Threats of further bombings have pushed people away says Tourism Secretary Enzo Astoplous. "Despite the increased security, Solaris threats appear to be working. We are estimating a 40-50% loss in revenue over the next month" said Astoplous. He also said that he expects the numbers to return to normal but that it would take time.

Astoplous noted that medical tourism seemed to be 'doing fine'.

We express our support to Nicosia in the matter around the suspected priest of the Solaris cult. This man should be trialed for the crimes he is suspected from. The Nicosian justice system is a guarantee that he will be set free when proven innocent. The government in Torrence should await the results of the trial before judging Nicosia.

We also want to make clear that Nicosia is one of Eiffelland's allies.

Nicosian Judge issues international warrant for Pope Urban

Syracuse

Today, 3rd District Court Justice George Katrakis issued an international warrant for Pope Urban. The warrant is the longest in Nicosian history totalling more than 50 pages. The warrant charges Pope Urban with over 3,800 counts of kidnapping, 2,000 counts of extortion, 2 counts of terrorism, 6 counts of conspiracy to commit terrorism, and finally 800 counts of murder.

Katrakis said that more charges may be added. Katrakis set a reward of 30,000 Nicosian Lire, the most legally allowed. Katrakis was careful to note that the reward is for Pope Urban to be delivered unharmed to Nicosian authorities.

While the warrant is largely symbolic, many question if the Nicosian government is doing enough. Chancellor Valdez and the King's Office refused to comment.

A division of the Revolutionary Mujahideen

". . . And Nicosia calls itself peaceful after all this? We laugh at Nicosia and their foolishness. Don't they know the whole of their pathetic kingdom will serve like slaves in hell while Muslims feast on the rotting carcass of its heathen king? . . ."

"In truth, it is difficult to understand the rationale of the Mujahideen of the Trans-Nineveh.....supporting a man like Urban IV, a man who, if had his way, would eradicate Muslims wherever they can be found, including Trans-Nineveh."

Gun battle in Ajaccio

Ajaccio

Today, two gunmen attacked a military security checkpoint with automatic weapons, wounding two soldiers.

The Royal Army said that around 9am, two gunmen opened fire on a military checkpoint with automatic weapons. Soldiers returned fire, killing both assailants. Police say that an investigation is under way and that they do not want to preemptively label the attack as another terrorist action.

Steps by the NDF to bolster security have succeeded as no further attacks on civilians have occurred but police remain skeptical. "If they really want to make something happen, they will" said a police source.

Automatic weapons are banned in Nicosia as are weapons over .22 caliber.

The People's Republic is greatly concerned by the security issues in Nicosia. The People's Republic would like to explore the possibility of increasing the security detail the Government provides the Embassy.
