July 2023 Map Thread!

Here is the update for July 2023! It was one of the more difficult ones because requests over the last 2-3 months have been topsy-turvy to put it mildly at best, down right bi-polar with a case of ADHD at worst. What I'd like to say that is in the coming maps to come, if this is going to be a trend, new limitations and restrictions will be swiftly advocated for, so lets not make changes for changes sake anymore. Please be calculated and use the tools at your disposal before making map requests. That means...

1. Open a thread to discuss with your peers.
2. Create a draft wiki-page to help give us understand the project better.
3. When coming up with a concept do a complete job and advocate for all of your project, even if you don't plan to have it mapped all at once.
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Otherwise lets get to the changes...

• I removed the waves, I hope to make that easier on your eyes
• I removed several of the filters, I hope that also makes it easier on your eyes
• All of the resources from the resource map are now on the map
  • I believe a discussion could be had about the resource symbols
  • Some ideas include less meme-like symbols to change them to periodic table of elements based symbols
  • New resources might be an idea, but placement might be a question
  • Should colonial ideas be allowed to take resources? How should a process go to allow for it?
  • Some resources have slightly moved, but not in active RP areas
• The map's total size was increased to hopefully allow for the globe project to easily sync, this is in the north
• The Antarctic project is removed, it was hoped that this could allow for a new avenue for RP but the EF ruled early for its neutrality and everyone agreed. Its been untouched for two years and is now removed in the interest of a better looking map
• Himyar has been expanded. There was talk that the percentage of water to land was too heavily skewed towards water. This hopefully fixes that a little while making Himyar look a bit more interesting I hope.
• Scania has been expanded. This was done to allow for current RP to remain uninterrupted and allow for a player to ethnically cluster better
  • I had hoped to green a lot of my own projects there sooner, but because they are tied up in RP, that wasn't possible
  • Scania hopefully still has an empty space that could prove interesting
  • I still plan to green part of my own plots up there once the current RP narrative concludes
• Many countries were greened as advocated, perhaps insisted upon by the player base
  • If your country was removed, you probably haven't touched it in close to a year, if not more. If so, you may apply again to get on the map again
  • Some countries that are ancient are still on the map!? Yes, it wasn't a complete job, but that's because they were too small for me to care to notice them
  • Some countries were greened because they have too many projects and those projects are also inactive. They are free to re-apply whichever concepts they want to keep, but please be polite and remove your inactive nations in the future
• The map file size is significantly smaller! We're being more efficient with fewer layers!
• A new blank map is provided!
• A new template for applying to the map has been provided. If you do not follow it, you will not be mapped!
• The inactivity list will no longer be a thing! It wasn't a very effective project with map postings not organized routinely, and so a new process is elaborated below.

Someday Xen will bless us with something more official link wise, but for now, we meet pCloud.com servers again!

In regards to pCloud, many have complained about the links in the past saying they have to make an account! Nope! Not true! Make sure you read all the small print and if I remember right on mobile you have to click download. The file is perhaps large for phones though, so if you have a data plan on your phone that you have to worry about, don't say I didn't warn you! The file size can be found next to the file.

Are you applying for a MAP SPOT? Follow this template below precisely!

• If the mapmaker cannot read or understand your application, you may suffer from errors or a mapmaker designed solution
• Do not add superfluous additions that only serve to confuse the mapmaker such as rivers, buildings, or otherwise strange scribbles
• If you wish to have a denoted tall mountain added to your plot, you may request it in the miscellaneous section!

INACTIVITY & DISCLAIMER
Role play activity will prevent deletion from the map, there is no minimum activity needed to prevent removal as it is due to Mapmaker discretion, though an announcement of departure in the Absence Thread will excuse a drop off of activity. Prior to future removal, the inactive player will be announced and tagged in the map thread. Requests to remove inactive players can also happen in this thread, but please do so politely and also tag the player in question.

Great work as always, Coro, I really like the new Himyar. As promised, and to kick off the new thread, I would like to claim a few areas for the Neustrian colonial empire. This is all open to discussion. My main focus is on the Himyari colony (Loago--the name is a nod to Ovi); the rest is really just ego pixels and me aping the RL French as much as possible, so I can do without them.

Not so much a map application as a map alteration request, I'm hoping for the blank space between Propontis & Aresura and The Isphilistines to be filled in as the mapmaker sees fit (that is, additional pixels for either/or entity).

With your colony being part of it. You can, instead, if you want a colony around, take the New South Ivernia colony, because Ivernia as a country is inactive and kept around more like a tribute to the player. Even so, I'd say that while his mainland should be kept, the colony could be up for grabs.

Definitely.

The current/previous ic reason was that it was occupied by Radilo in the 15/16th centuries, as crusading was still a big deal to la Serenissima, but it was never politically stable or economically productive. After the Great War, it wasn't worth it anymore, so Radilo handed it over to the nse version of Zionists who are also PDists. So it became part of the blob known as anti-state.
