• The Queen visits the New Ysenie!

Ysan - The Queen, accompanied by The Hon. Prince Consort Louis Eribert Je Vaes, was introduced to past and present staff, management, and donors and fundraisers on their tour, which included the Ysan Birth Centre and Hospital ("Ysenie Hospital"). It marked 11 years since her last visit to the hospital, when she opened the site.

Dr Louis Le Moigne said: "This has been a fantastic opportunity to showcase our marvellous new facilities in the Hospital to these very special guests. We are very pleased with how the event went and have already had some very positive feedback from those present. This was an occasion we will all remember for many years."

Over 2 million was raised by the hospital's dedicated charity, Ysan-Mal-Aimé's Charitable Trust, towards the costs of the new extension, thanks to the support of local companies, foundations, major donors and the community for the Ysan Hospital Campaign.

Susanna Le Mal-Aimé, wife of the Chancellor ad director of fundraising at Ysan-Mal-Aimé's Charitable Trust, said: "This visit was a fantastic opportunity to thank the many individual fundraisers and donors who, together, helped to make a wonderful environment for new Quènians, their parents and families.

• Changes in the Quènian farming!

Ysan - The Government has put forward a plan to improve production in farming and increase beef quality and exportation.
It could be the first plan since the Magiot Act of 1941 which granted subsidies to farmers to encourage greater production by introducing new technology, specialisation and improved breeding and management of animals.

Speaking in the Quènian Lower Council during a debate on the second reading of the plan, the Minister of Agriculture, Louis DePárs, said the proposals were designed to "bring lasting benefit to all who cared for and worked on the land".

The plan also aimed to:

• Encourage modernisation of farm structure by making it easier to organise farm mergers

• Promote better use of hill farm land

• Encourage wider co-operation in agriculture and horticulture

• Allow farmers to increase borrowing to improve welfare of their animals

• Improve the marketing and distribution of livestock and meat

Minister Louis said the system would be expensive to the Treasury, but would have benefit to the Quénian farmer.
