One month after the parliamentary elections, the Parliament continue their debate on Church Reform, but they are split on the issue. The Parti réformiste was able to gain 53 new seats in parliament after the last election, which increased their amount of seats to 143, impressive but not enough to give them the 151 votes needed for an absolute majority. Parti réformiste was able to win their new seats with promises of economic reform, but recently the party has been taken over by prominent Protestants; so instead of focusing on economic reforms like they promised the people, they are looking to reform the Catholic Church in Corsica and make it Protestant. Parti réformiste is looking towards the Nouveau parti vert for help in implementing the Church reforms, this would boost the number of votes to 165.
His Most Catholic Majesty, the Holy King Jean-Pierre VII God's Chosen Defender of the Faith and the Holy See, states this morning that the "Rebels" in parliament are "going against the will of the people and most importantly the will of our Almighty Lord God." A recent poll of the Christian citizens in Corsica, show that his Catholic Majesty is correct, 77% of people don't want reform, while 20% do want reform. About the issue, Prince Ryan Rion the Prime Minister, of the Royal Rion Family, says "the only way to have true reform in this great nation is to steer away from the Catholic Church." His Most Catholic Majesty responded by saying, "If the Prime Minister was not my cousin, he would be cleaning the toilets in the royal palace."
