(OOC: I lost what I was going to write, and I'm not a theologian anyway, so I am just going to OOCly sum up the pope's letter fast.

1. So faith also, if it have not works, is dead in itself. Cf. James chapter 2.
2. Carrying out the corporal works of mercy is good for individuals on their road to salvation.
3. Though the clergy should not be worldly, wealth is necessary for carrying out their duties.
4. Representatives are urged to come to the papal court for fraternal discussion.}

Your Holiness,

The flock of believers in Caledonia are currently under a grave attack by atheists and heretics. As the Bible says: "Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing" (2 Peter 2:15), the people of Caledonia are now being lured by the heresiarch Ronan MacIver, currently holding the Archdiocese of Dun Eidyn to follow the ways of consumerism, materialism, libertinism and prefer to follow the political idol named after Prometheus rather than the teachings of Christ and the defence of the natural state of the world.

With extreme sadness I see the Church being continuously attacked by someone I believed not long ago to have been a good friend of mine and a good priest. Since that calamitous February, where the cross of Saint Piran was replaced with the white-blue-white bands on the Caledonian flags, the world has gone mad. Ronan MacIver has sold his soul for material earnings to the republican regime and thus to sleep well at night he is continuously attacking the same institution he represents. God knows how he can sleep well and look himself in the mirror. He has attacked the establishment by calling for an agrarian reform that would literally dissolve most of not all monasteries in Caledonia by confiscating their lands. He is calling for the reduction of what he calls "rotten wealth" of the Church and its donation to aid programs. Without caring of our efforts to aid the poor, as we run 23 charity funds in Caledonia alone, he attacks us and calls for the state to take over our assets, going as far as accusing some of the aforementioned charities of working to drain hard currency out of Caledonia.

We cannot but observe that the goal of those populist attacks is exactly to distort the image of the Church so that the people of Caledonia, many whom are still faithful Christians will turn against us and ask for the nationalisation by the republicans. What he forgets is that we run 7 out of 10 schools in this country (2 are run by the clans and only 1 in 10 is run by the state itself), 6 out of 10 hospitals (the clans run 2 and the state itself 2 out of 10) and after the clan based trade unions, not the Prometheist or the Leninovist unions are the biggest, but the Catholic ones. The heresiarch is attacking the Church right in a country in which the people are firmly Catholic and in which the church has made many efforts to suppress the most savage episodes of capitalism, following the social teachings inspired by the Rerum Novarum.

The latest apparitions in Calasraid which have been observed by Father Brendan of the Holy Mary Monastery and by a local boy have even given the Father stigmata. We believe that this is a natural apparition of the Sacred Heart in the visions of the two as the glade in which the events took place has been known as a place there apparitions took place in the last century. I would like to invite a commission from the Holy See to come and investigate. Sadly, the events have been attacked by the republicans and by Archbishop MacIver and called hoaxes. The local government has even restricted arrivals in the town of Calasraid.

For this, I formally ask the Holy See to excommunicate the Archbishop of Dun Eidyn, Ronan MacIver for heresy and for abandoning the teachings of Christ. He is exactly like Judas, selling our lord and saviour not to the Tiburans, but to the Prometheists, as they try to use the Church for their own populist measures.

Signed,
The Right Reverend
Daniel Taran
Archbishop of Dun Glas

Archbishop MacIver is summoned to appear before the Holy Father to provide explanations for his conduct.

Has the local bishop reached a conclusion as to the authenticity of these apparitions? (Assuming Calasraid is not within the archdiocese.) If so, no commission is required. When they are concluded, a final report is requested. Archbishop MacIver is reminded that only the local bishop under the Holy See has jurisdiction in confirming the authenticity of apparitions. If he has reservations, it is suggested he pass them on to the Holy See for consideration.
