Establishing Nation
LIPRI | Längerland International Peace Research Institute
LIPRI is an independent international institute dedicated to research into conflict, armaments and arms control. Established in 1937, LIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on second and primary source research, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public. LIPRI is based in a beautiful historic building in Lörrach, capital of Längerland.
Mission
LIPRI's vision is a world in which sources of insecurity are identified and understood, conflicts are prevented or resolved, and peace is sustained and promoted.
LIPRI’s core mission is to:
undertake research and activities on security, conflict and peace;
provide policy analysis and recommendations;
facilitate dialogue and build capacities;
promote transparency and accountability; and
deliver authoritative information to global audiences.
History and Funding
LIPRI was established on the basis of a decision by the Längerland Landstag and receives a substantial part of its funding in the form of an annual grant from the Government of Längerland. The Institute also seeks financial support from other organisations and individuals in order to carry out its research programme. LIPRI maintains rigorous standards to remain independent on all its research and findings, regardless of where its sources of funding come from.
Request for Reporting and Research
LIPRI maintains a large staff at its head offices in Lörrach as well as full-time staff on research assignments abroad at the world's leading research and academic institutions. Thanks to its rich personnel assets, LIPRI is capable of undertaking specific research and report requests from organisations, businesses, individuals and foreign governments. Applications for such projects are scrutinised by our Acceptance of Research Committee based on topic, value, overall impact and funding levels. If a request is accepted a LIPRI team will contact the ordering party to discuss aspects of the research project before, during and after research work commences.
All reports are published and available free of charge to members of the public. Requests for published reports and findings and applications to order research projects may be posted to:

OOC: this is my idea to RP a think tank. Anyone can 'order a report', be it from a government, business, etc. and if accepted by the think tank, I will write an analysis (maybe about 500 words). Obviously I'll need to collect some information from the orderer OOC. The reports can then be used in RP, e.g. news threads. This is a new idea and in its infancy, so please let me know if you have suggestions for improvement.
