Bomb Devastates DMC Corporate Headquarters, Red Alliance Claims Responsibility

LUCCA: A bomb devastates the Dacia Mining Corp headquarters within the Industrial Quarter of the city, killing an estimated thirty employees and wounding no less than ten more, with the search for survivors continuing. Many of the dead are believed to be executives who continued working well after hours, and custodians who maintained the quality of the building. The make of the explosives is still unknown.

Red Alliance, a league of various communist, marxist, and anarcho-syndicalist groups have claimed responsibility for the attack, and have demanded the DMC and other industrial organizations heed the worker's plight. The RA has launched several terrorist attacks in the past, but continues to lack popular support from within the unions themselves, who fear association with the RA could threaten the legality of public union assemblies and striking.

Bureau of Industrial Management Looks to Expand Oil Interests into Mare di Dio

With neighboring Ascalon seeking to expand their oil economy and Umbazi looking to expand their natural gas sector, the Cenetian Bureau of Industrial Management today has permitted exploration of Cenetian territorial waters within the Mare di Dio by two Cenetian oil companies, and has refused to comment on possibilities for exploration in oil fields outside the scope of Ascalon and Cenetian territorial waters.

"We cannot allow our nation to fall behind economically. We must stay competitive, even if that means aggressively pursuing our goals. This is not just about competition with Ascalon, this is about the core tenets of capitalism," said a top-level executive with Aurora Energy Group during a brief press conference.

Cenetis remains a critical trade partner with Ascalon, which operates several pipelines that pump oil from refineries within Ascalon to storage facilities in Hedion, where merchant marine vessels operated by both Ascalon and Cenetis under contracts by Ascaloni companies export the oil from the otherwise landlocked nation. Oil exports from pipelines running through Cenetis are estimated at over 500,000 bbl/d.

Under pressure from Uroduah ethnic lobbyists, the Royal Office is currently expected to make a decision on a stance concerning the Jurzan Question and Ascaloni support for the Talemantine-led occupation of the Uroduah nation. The Royal Office has declined whether or not the decision to permit oil exploration in the Mare di Dio was fueled by Uroduah demands to increase pressure on Ascalon.

Ascaloni Oil Co.

We hope that the Cenetian oil companies exploring the Mare di Dio do not attempt to explore within Ascaloni waters. We would hate for an incedent. We wish for the government of Cenetis to ensure that our fears are not realized. We only ask for the government to ensure this, becuase we are currently expanding and building new rigs within our territorial waters, and would just rathe rnot have any foriegn ships sniffing around.

CEO of Ascaloni Oil Co.

Explosion Rocks Capital, 163 Dead

LUCCA - Multiple explosions rocked a state parade at 4:00 p.m. Friday, killing scores of civilians and parading soldiers who were celebrating the birthday of the Aegepta hero Sehekset, who triumphed over the Caliphate of Hajr; a decisive general and King of Aegepta who led a war that saw to the re-establishment of sovereignty over both Aegepta and Lucea.

As of yet, no group has taken responsibility for this terrorist act. Authorities believe the attack was caused by the infamous Marxist revolutionaries of the Red Alliance, but a video was released on a website affiliated with the Red Alliance which claims that the Communist leader, Dimashi Ihnatep, was injured in the bombing. Dimashi is seen in bandages, claiming that the ruthless attack was staged to "target the people who celebrated a glorious slave-King, a true hero to the people."

The Red Alliance claims that the attack was launched by the Pan-Uroduah Federation, a group of ethnic Uroduah discontented with a lack of action in support of Jurzan over the recent weeks. The Pan-Uroduah Federation denies all allegations of connection with the bombing, stating that it is a completely legal and recognized organization.

In total, 163 people have lost their lives in this tragic bombing, including twenty seven of the Emperor's finest. An additional two hundred have been hospitalized, with hundreds more receiving minor wounds and bruises. In response to the bombing, the Royal Army has issued a curfew effective until 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

Royal Threat Advisory Increased to Orange

HEDION - With multiple terrorist attacks claiming the lives of over one hundred and fifty Cenetians this week, the Royal Office has raised the threat advisory level from Yellow - Heightened, to Orange - High. With this increase in advisory level, the government warns citizens to remain alert for suspicious activities and alert authorities immediately.

Experts at Hedion's Sehekset Memorial University believe that the attacks staged by the terrorist front group known as the Red Alliance are the beginnings of what could be a much larger campaign. Professor Melanion Kouris believes that "the Red Alliance threat will only grow larger, not only are they fearful of our way of life, our houses and cars, but they're scared to see that the growing economy of Cenetis is actually equalizing the classes."

Surveys, however, suggest otherwise. An independent study out of Ordion suggests that worker job satisfaction has not significantly changed since the '60's, when unemployment rates in Cenetis spiraled towards 34%. Despite job availability drastically increasing, and unemployment now at a mere 10.3%, authorities believe that the Red Alliance continues to pose a threat to the public peace. Police in Hedion and Lucca are currently discussing options for cracking down on terrorism in major urban areas.

Royal Office Welcomes Withdrawal of Fulani for Jurzan

LUCCA - The Royal Office today issued it's praises of the Fulanistan government for their recent decision to begin demobilizing troops deployed in Jurzan and begin a general withdrawal. However, this pullout begs the question: will the continuing occupation of Jurzan by Talemantine forces, now a unilateral action, be looked at with more hostility? The Royal Office thinks so, and plans to announce it's official support for the Jurzani regime, though whether or not the Royal Armed Forces will be mobilized to express the nations full support has not yet been discussed.

Other issues are raised by this withdrawal, however. Will Fulanistan's new regime choose to go against Talemantine, nigh even Himyari Freedom policy of refusing Jurzan official recognition, or will the new Fulani government ostracize the increasingly infamous debacle that plagues the HFA today? Will the Fulani government be held accountable for damages done to the Jurzan nation for their part in the occupation? Will Talemantros continue it's now unilateral occupation of the fledgling Uroduah republic?

Regardless, Pan-Uroduah Federation, a Cenetian organization of Uroduah who believe in Uroduah self-determinism, have expressed their support of recent Royal Office actions, and have stated that should the government choose to militarily support Jurzan, Uroduah throughout the nation would be compelled to volunteer for the Armed Forces.

Despite this encouraging promise, experts believe that the Uroduah population would at best be able to provide a single division for the Cenetian Royal Army.

Commonwealth of Cornavia

We wish to respectfully issue a note of correction to Lucca times, as the car in which Member of Parliament Stephen Wright travelled on the night of his demise was not of Cornavian origin, but rather manufactured by the Tjorven brand in Tyskreich.

Cars manufactured by Cornavian companies such as Ashland-Carrington Vehicles and Whitehaven Motors are perfectly safe and reliable in nature.

In addition, though the cause of the said crash is being investigated, initial inquiries point out to driver error and conditions, not the quality of the involved brand.

Regards,
Ms. Janet Eilerson,
Trade attaché of the Commonwealth Embassy in Cenetis

Dear Janet Eilerson,

On behalf of the Lucca Times, I would like to apologize for any personal offense delivered by the articles of our newspaper. While the Royal Office has decreed that our front page stories have some modicum of truth, many of our other stories simply deliver world news in a humorous manner. As such, some article headlines chosen by the editors for publication were chosen to increase sales for the newspaper, which as any newspaper publisher knows are continuing to fall in popularity to television based news sources.

However, as your government does not feel that the article depicts your nation appropriately, a new article will be published to redress your concerns. I apologize, again, for any insult made by our article.

Sincerely,
Ashouh Seiradih
Chief Editor of The Lucca Times
