$13.50/month [!Paid (FiL§23.1)!]...
As a quick reminder, exactly six months ago, on February 4th, eligible voters were called upon to elect a new parliament.
A total of 13,455,003 votes were cast. Relative to the population, this corresponds to a turnout of 79% (+2%). With a total of 100 members of parliament, each party received the same number of representatives as its percentage of votes.
OTP 31% (+6%)
STP. 20% (-4%)
FTP. 26% (-1%)
LTP. 15% (~)
GTP. 8%. (-1%)
The parliament is composed of representatives from their respective parties based on the percentages achieved. The OTP is represented by six new members, while the STP loses four. Opposition parties consisting of the FTP and GTP each lose one seat in parliament. The liberal LTP stagnates and retains its 15 seats.
Statements at the press conference by party leaders
Andreas Wolf (OTP) and
Miriam Streusand (STP) :
Andreas Wolf : "Thank you for coming in such large numbers to learn about the current state of affairs. It has now been six months since the new conditions were determined by the people through elections. Due to the lengthy coalition negotiations, our venerable head of state, Louis Chatterham, was forced to refrain from domestic political debates until clarity about the new government was established. Which, as I can happily confirm to you today, is the case: the negotiators from OTP and STP have agreed on a coalition for the coming legislative period. With this, both parties confirm their continued support for Louis Chatterham as Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Ordo."
Miriam Streusand: "The last few months have undoubtedly been a test for all of us, especially for the citizens who were left in uncertainty. The population deserves clarity, and that is why, as chair of the STP, I have been advocating for a continuation of the government since the beginning of the negotiations. Majorities in parliament had to be achieved in order to remain effective as a government. We succeeded in this with the OTP, and as partners we were able to reach compromises that are in the best interest of the Republic of Ordo. Regarding Louis Chatterham as Chancellor, we advocate that he continue to hold office as Chancellor and Head of State due to his practiced statesmanlike non-partisanship. Regarding the distribution of ministries and their secretaries, STP will retain the Foreign Ministry together with Magnus Warpadell, who has done outstanding foreign policy work over the past two years. Many thanks at this point and continued success. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance will also remain in the hands of the STP, but a new secretary for this resort has been appointed. Current secretary Roley Blingstuff is moving from politics to the private sector, thereby relinquishing his mandate with the party. Andreas Wolf will now attend the swearing-in ceremony, which will take place next week. He will share some information with you.
Andreas Wolf: "Absolutely correct. It should be noted that the secretaries in the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior will remain with OTP. Therefore, Defense Minister Sargnagel and Interior Minister Aldescrure will continue to lead these ministries due to their successes. Now, to the swearing-in ceremony: our constitution stipulates that after each four-year legislative period, the newly formed government must be confirmed by the Federal Chancellery. For this, certificates must be issued and a ceremonial swearing-in by the head of state must take place. This will happened
at July 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Federal Chancellery. Media representatives are, of course, cordially invited to this event, as usual. Any questions? "
Melissa Elena Antonella: "Question for Miriam Streusand. Your party lost a full 4 percent compared to the last election and received a total of 20% of the vote. This makes them the biggest loser of all parties in percentage terms. No party lost more than the STP, that's a fact. Furthermore, they're only in third place. How is it possible to lose so much in such a short time and still be represented as an equal partner in a government?"
Miriam Streusand: "How is it possible to keep a stable Social Democratic Party in government? It's easy to answer, young lady. Listen and learn. It's not about forming governments based solely on the percentage they've achieved. If we were to assemble our government according to this principle, the probability of a standstill would be extremely high. The republic is too valuable to expose it to such risks. What I mean by that is that there needs to be enough willingness to compromise between coalition parties to move the country forward politically. And that's the case between OTP and STP. Talks were also held between OTP and FTP, but these didn't lead to any concrete results due to differences of opinion. This governing coalition together has a stable majority of 51% in parliament and is therefore able to make decisions. So it's not about whether we lost a few percentage points this year. Through our participation in the government, the entire republic and its people have gained more than STP has lost. By the way, your questions are absolutely ridiculous and amateurish."
Melissa Elena Antonella : "Thank good we won't hear much from you after this conference, Ms. Streusand. At least that's some positive news at this
point. Now a question for Mr. Wolf: the OTP emerged stronger from the election. Was it agreed in advance with Chancellor Louis Chatterham that he would hold the important office of head of government, or did you really have to adapt to domestic political circumstances?"
Andreas Wolf: "Regarding the conspiracy theories mentioned at the highest level, I can assure you that we, as civil servants, definitely did not allow ourselves to be influenced by them and certainly did not forge any plans to undermine the will of the people. As chairman of the OTP, I only consulted with Chancellor Chatterham after the election results in order to reassess the situation in light of the situation, as required by constitutional law. But your speculation about a plot twist to keep Chatterham in office is completely far-fetched and does not reflect the real political situation we are facing. Now it's about maneuvering the nation through globally turbulent times, and the Chancellor is the best choice for that. As he has already proven in the last legislative period. No further questions on this topic, next, please. Yes, you back there in the pink tie!"
