Recent piracy events in the Gothic and Engelseas are of grave and existential concern for the Commonwealth of Nedernesia. Even more than most countries, we rely almost entirely on trade for our economic wellbeing, prosperity, food and fuel imports, etc. It is simply unacceptable to His Majesty's Government that pirates are able to ply our local seas and harass ships.
Last week's seizure of a Salian flagged ship en route to Vrijpoort highlighted two truths:
1) Our regional seas are not patrolled enough, especially with recent hostilities in Burgundy;
2) Cooperation between our naval and air forces is capable of and essential to combating piracy, as seen with the Pohjanmaan Free Navy's intervention to rescue the distressed Salian vessel, but coordination is lacking.
Such ad hoc countermeasures cannot, however, ensure open, free flowing, secure passage of goods and people in our seas.
We welcome comments and suggestions to our proposal and hope for its expedient implementation.
With sincerest salutations,
Sir Robert S. Riverdale, Minister of Overseas Relations and Cooperation Nedernesia

Such ad hoc countermeasures cannot, however, ensure open, free flowing, secure passage of goods and people in our seas.
We therefore propose the following:
1) The creation of a joint naval and air task force to conduct anti-piracy missions in the Gothic and Engelseas for the protection of ALL merchant marine vessels, irrespective of the flags they fly;
3) Regular round-the-clock naval and air patrols designed to deter, spot, track and if necessary eliminate pirates in these international waters;
4) The establishment of secure sea lanes between major ports in the region as well as 'through lanes' that traverse these seas en route to waters beyond;
5) The offering of merchant marine convoys under naval and air escort from the task force to safely guide civilian vessels through particularly dangerous waters.
The Royal Nedernesian Admiralty, Royal Nedernesian Sky Force and all branches of the Nedernesian intelligence services will participate in this force proudly in cooperation with our friendly neighbours.1) The creation of a joint naval and air task force to conduct anti-piracy missions in the Gothic and Engelseas for the protection of ALL merchant marine vessels, irrespective of the flags they fly;
a) The task force shall take on the name: Northern Naval Protection Force (NNPF)
2) The creation of a joint command for the task force with a main office at the Royal Nedernesian Admiralty base on the island of Puntland, which lies directly at the point where the two seas conjoin;
3) Regular round-the-clock naval and air patrols designed to deter, spot, track and if necessary eliminate pirates in these international waters;
4) The establishment of secure sea lanes between major ports in the region as well as 'through lanes' that traverse these seas en route to waters beyond;
