We are a bit puzzled about the announcement regarding the induction of new cruisers to “tackle imperialist threats”. A couple of weeks ago, the Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of Serenièrre used quite sharp words to comment on messages about modernisations in the Eiffellandian Navy and Air Force, and now suddenly Serenièrre orders several new cruisers to “tackle imperialist threats”. The Government of Serenièrre is definitely not trying to slow down any form of arms race in Gallo-Germania.

The Grand Duchy of Nichtstein does not have any reports that the Nichtsteiner Coast Guard Services have "attacked" fishing ships from Serenierre. Independent and neutral sources also do not mention anything to this effect. As such, any claims that such events have happened are misguided false accusations that are not grounded in any fact what so ever. The Grand Duchy has no interest in attacking fishing ships that have been issued with fishing licenses by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. However, a review of issuing such licenses to ships flagged in Serenierre will now commence.

The Grand Duchy of Nichtstein hereby demands a formal apology from the People's Republic and that those spreading such false accusations be brought to justice and removed from their posts.

Pending the resolution of this case, the Grand Duchy of Nichtstein hereby recalls all of its diplomatic and consular staff from Serenierre. The Foreign Affairs Ministry also issues a formal travel warning for the People's Republic of Serenierre, where the safety of Nichtsteiner citizens cannot be guaranteed by a State that does not seem willing to guarantee it.

The Grand Duchy will consider further steps necessary to protect its sovereignty.

The Grand Duchy again denounces these witchhunts which harm nobody but the people of Serenierre. The simply fact that the government of Serenierre fails to grasp is that Bourgogne does not mind what manner of government is in place so long as a potentially viable working relationship may be established. Yet, the government of Serenierre chooses to drive a deeper wedge. Bourgogne will do nothing to heighten the tensions which Serenierre has carefully orchestrated for its own propaganda purposes. We call on Serenierre to stand down military units along the border as it is the highest of provocations. Bourgogne will do everything it can to avoid creating such provocations on its own end.

Also we consider the stationing of additional troops along the Bourgogne-Serenierre border an unnecessary action. We will follow the same course as the Burgundian government does in this issue. Also we recognize the right of the people of Serenierre to choose their economic and political system. However, let it be known that there are many historic ties between Bourgogne and Eiffelland; actually, Bourgogne and Eiffelland are allies.

The Imperial Government considers it outrageous that Serenierre would seek to militarise her border without good cause or any provocation from Bourgogne, a nation which has dedicated herself to peace and prosperity for the entire region. All nations have a right to their own internal politics, as we have said time and time again in the past, but a threatening and hostile attitude towards neighbours, along with the rejection of diplomacy, followed by immediately resorting to force as a means of carrying out foreign policy is a dangerous attitude we shall never condone. One can only hope that Serenierre's government officials would come to their senses and avoid further isolation.

Closing the border is a necessary act that will defend the courageous nation and prevent potential royalist infiltration that aims to bring a reactionary regime and once again put Serenierre under the yolk of the aristocratic elite.

I speak on behalf of not only the Democratic Republic of Kadikistan, but also the Bolonesvian Workers Republic, the People's Republic of Milesia and the International Association of Marxist-Leninovist Parties when I express our full support for our friends in Serenierre. Serenierre's unilateral decision to militarise her border with the Grand Duchy of Bourgogne, without any just cause and lacking any provocation from the Grand Duchy, is unnacceptable and incompatible with any and all interpretations of international law and respect for peace. We reitarate our call to the People's Republic to demilitarise her border and restore normality in the region, so as to avoid needless bloodshed and conflict. Nobody benefits from this action, while the entirety of Europe is in grave danger.
