STATEMENT OF THE JURZANI OIL INDUSTRY

TO: Kingdom of Danmark, High Kingdom of Ivernia, and Empire of Great Engellex

As all of you are aware, recently the Socialist Republic of Media, Mezhist Union, and the Islamic Republic of Jurzan agreed to increase the price of a barrel of oil. As controversial of a move this is, it still stands and the prices will be enacted by the Jurzani Government this Friday, October 5, 1952.

However, the three nations with whom this letter is addressed have previously signed a trade agreement with our nation. The National Oil Company, and its owner, the General Assembly, believe firmly in upholding our commitment with trade partners around the world.

This being said, the nations of Danmark, Ivernia, and Great Engellex will still receive their oil at the previously negotiated price. The Company would like to reaffirm that these three nations are the most valued trading partners of the Islamic Republic and there is nothing that would break our commitment to our agreements. It is the hope of the National Oil Company and General Assembly of the Jurzan that all concerns have been calmed.

The government has carefully assessed the offer by the Islamic Republic and judged it on the basis of opportunity and risk. On the balance, Christiansborg believes that the offer hereto presented is desirable in multiple levels - domestic, industrial, commercial and military.

The government has made it no secret that the preservation of the old price of oil is beneficial to and is sought by the Kingdom, the increased pricing being a detriment and not one that is ideal even though, if push came, it would be paid as per demand insists.

The Kingdom judges this agreement on the basis of multiple sources and we shall be endeavourously scouting for multiple supplies from other nations, but this agreement would be a composite part of the whole.

We are also welcoming to the idea of extending greater economic ties and we shall be open to the idea of a trade and investment agreement if Sharjah is open to the suggestion, to which we are open to exploration and expansion of this initiative.

The High King of Ivernia Felix Uí Neill was pleased by the report from the Jurzan. A contract is a contract and our retroactive deal should not have been harmed. We are pleased by Toryalai Wesa's and the General Assembly's professionalism.
However we should warn you the 'Phoney Oil Crisis' Ivernia has experienced over the past week has sent irrepairable shockwaves throughout our industrial sectors. While they are surely relieved at this news I believe they have realised how naked they are when they depend on another nation so much, for so important a resource, even if Ivernia would consider the Jurzan an ally.
The High King has decided after agreement with the Elector Princes and the Ivernian Senate to take both roads in this incident. Ivernia shall continue on the contract of oil set out and agreed upon by the High King and the Jurzan, but Ivernia shall still continue to development methods to aquire it's own oil hopefully to wean itself off and become more self sufficient.
The High King hopes that other investment programs may exist between Ivernia and the Jurzan so that even if we purchase less oil from the Islamic Republic in the future our business relationship remains strong and fruitful.
