Nation Mourns Death of HM Emperor Angliareich

The Empire of Angliarique is sadly again, in mourning. His Majesty Emperor Angliareich,88, passed away after an 18 month-long battle with cancer. The Nation Mourns!

The late Emperor Angliareich passed away today from cancer. His Majesty died peacefully at his residence, the Manor of Valeria. Important family members of the Angliareich Lineage are expected to arrive at the Manor at 10.00 pm. This marks a significant chapter in the Empire. The Heir Apparent, Prince Angliareich II, is expected to ascend the throne immediately. The Prince will henceforth be crowned, His Majesty Emperor Angliareich II.

In accordance with the will of the late Emperor, a national period of mourning has been gazette. And will last for 17 days. Businesses will remain open, and close at 5.00 pm sharp. The Angliarique Permanent Government has been dissolved and the nation's government now lies in limbo, as it awaits new appointments by the new Emperor. A procession led by the Interior Army will start from Valeria, and end with a entombment in the Sanctum of Laurels, where the late Emperor will lay at eternal peace.

The Emperor's death comes as a stark reminder to all nobles and commoners alike that death comes to all eventually. Emperor Angliareich was a kind leader and a great soul. His Majesty ascended the throne at the age of 5. With a hand of fairness, he led the country through its darkest times of economic failure and humanitarian crises. The late Emperor oversaw economic development in the poorest regions of the Empire, which freed the common man from the stresses of hard labour. Alas, great things come to an end. But, greater things are to come once more!

“Explosion” heard nearby Coal Plant at Darkford City

An explosion was heard nearby a coal plant at Darkford City, at 10.00 am, today.

Local residents reported to have heard a loud and thunderous bang! Near the coal plant.
A witness of this event, interviewed by the Regnal Press, said, “One moment I was cooking noodles, and the next thing I knew. My kitchen windows are shattered to smithereens and lay like a spiky minefield on the floor!”
Another witness working at a book store nearby the coal plant, mentioned seeing a flash of very bright light emerging from the plant.

At this time, speculation is our only answer, as we await the true cause of the explosion from local authorities.​

In a media statement on Twatter, by the Office of the Interior. The Governor has confirmed that the explosion heard at Darkford, indeed originated from the coal plant.
Lord Henry stated that fire safety measures have been put in place, in order to extinguish the inferno. Furthermore, it has been reported that the office is presently, establishing the total amount of coal stockpiles

An economist from the Imperial Chronicles, in a message to the Regnal Press has stated, that this disaster at Darkford could have catastrophic repercussions. Among the possible problems it could pose, the economist opined the possibility of electricity costs rising. These costs could include, household electrical bills, rising in cost by a conservative estimate of 110%.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Interior has also urged the public to be remain calm. And on pain of 5 months jailtime, not to speculate.

Exclusive: Sources close to Government say, Chancellor to address the nation on imminent fuel crisis​

A source in the know, who did not wish to be named, has informed the Regnal Press that the chancellor, Lord Banker, may soon give a radio broadcast to the nation.

This comes after the Governor of the Interior confirmed that a coal plant had exploded in Darkford. The source also said, that the explosion was a result of massive mismanagement of machinery. It is unclear if any casualties have amounted.

Another source, a high-ranking official in the Foreign Affairs Cabinet, has revealed to us that the Governor of the Exterior may soon seek trade with other nations, to increase coal imports. And lessen the burden of high electricity costs.

The Chief Economist of the Regnal Press has meanwhile lambasted the idea, saying that imports at such a time might cause the government budget to go into a deficit.

At 10.00 am yesterday morning, a coal plant at Darkford exploded resulting in the emergence of an inferno. This great fire and calamity has as of 1.00 pm claimed the lives of 200 labourers, as I speak, we are still recovering bodies and the loss is great. I speak personally to the families that have suffered in this time of madness, when I say, Angliarisians are with you in your struggles.

Our Angliarique Empire is facing an imminent threat. The coal plant at Darkford produced and accounted for 70% of the empire’s energy production. And 40% of our scarce coal reserves have been ravaged and engulfed by the flames. We are thus in a time of national crisis. Upon the release of this broadcast, I would have sought the declaration of emergency and the suspension of all social freedoms, from His Majesty Emperor Angliareich II.
Thus, it is upon this basis then, that our empire is now in a state of emergency. The suspension of the freedom of speech, press, peaceful assembly, and travel are now in effect. So, I call upon my fellow Angliarisians to heed the call of your government's wishes, avoid violence and unrest, but above all and most importantly, persevere. Brace against the crisis tossed at us, and lob it aside! We will come out stronger! We will come out braver!

Under these dire and urgent circumstances, we leave the fate of our nation to the prerogative and generosity of other nations beyond.

Angliarique trains with The Federation!​

At 01.50 am, the Federation contingent was warmly received and welcomed by His Majesty Emperor Angliareich II.

At 03.50 am, an exercise between the armed forces of Angliarique and The Federation was held today at Port Lionheart, marking a significant milestone in the friendly relations of both countries. Interior Governor Lord Henry expressed his appreciation and gratitude for The Federation’s attitude towards peace.

“It was a remarkable event in our nation’s history,” he was quoted saying as, the thunderous roar of 20 fighter aircraft, from the Angliarique contingent pierced through the skies. And the stomping footsteps of 1,000 infantrymen marched in unison around the port, signifying Angliarisian unity. The Federation contingent then trained with the Angliarisians in simulated dogfights and simulated attrition warfare. ​

An Angliarisian soldier reportedly said, "Man! Their no joke! I've learnt a lot today."

Still another laughed as he said, "We'd better keep them as friends, no way we'll beat 'em! HAHAHA!"

A military expert from the Imperial Chronicles, has commended the exercise as a message to the world, that Angliarique is not just "another" nation.

Meanwhile, critics have condemned the exercise as a blatant attempt to distract the nation from the ongoing energy crisis. As yet the government has failed to procure coal supplies to quench rapidly growing demand and, restart the Darkford coal plant.
Still many Angliarisians have applauded and welcomed the cooperation of the two nations. Spascirian pacifists appear, however, to be appalled by the empire’s growing militarism. The nation appears to be divided by this event.

In other news, there are rumours circulating that the chancellor will soon be meeting The Federation contingent head for purported talks on peace and the coal crisis, at the Sanctum of Laurels. The Regnal Press however, is uncertain if this meeting will be a publicised event. ​

Regnal Press Brief: Who are the Spascirians? And what do they want?​

The Spascirians are the largest ethnic minority living in the empire. Forced to live in Carpathia under the reign of the first emperor. They were thought by Angliarisians to be lesser-beings. The perceived unfair treatment of them, has led to many attempted uprisings in the past. Most of which were crushed immediately if not later on.

In economic terms, about 90% of all Spascirians live barely above the poverty line. The remaining 10%, live in absolute poverty. The mistreatment of this minority group has created immense resentment against the monarchy and common Angliarisians.
Presently, a small group of Spascirian terrorists numbering close to 11,000, are being led by an elder shoe shiner known as VichyCha. This elder is apparently well-respected by his community, and has fought greatly for the preservation of Spascirian culture. The group calls themselves, the Spascirian Labour Front or, SLF.

The general assumption is that the Spascirians demand a long list of things:​

• Freedom to travel outside of Carpathia​
• Freedom of Spascirian business ownership​
• Free expression​
• Equal opportunities in work​
• Equal rights with Angliarisians​
• Right to assemble peacefully​
• Right to publish writings​
• A sovereign Spascirian state​
• Abolishment of the Angliarique Throne​
• Destruction of the Interior Army​
• Reparations for the Atrocities of Inner-Valeria​

These demands have never been met, and will likely not be forever. As it is unlawful to support any political Spascirian movement.​

Coal Crisis Causes Rebellion, Troops Mobilised​

A spokesman for the Interior Army has announced, that the Unified Force’s Laurel and Carpathia Regiments have been mobilised. A combined force of 17,000 infantrymen has been ordered by Lord Henry to contain and crush a rumoured Spascirian uprising in Carpathia. The spokesman announced further, that all commercial activities and operations in Carpathia, are ordered by the Central Bank -known as Dah Bank- to cease immediately. And citizens in Carpathia are advised to remain indoors.

Reports from our Carpathia correspondents reveal that a Spascirian elder, known as VichyCha, is leading the rebellions and that, the movement has already gained more than 10,000 supporters. One report stated, that the string of simultaneous rebellions poses a great threat to other cities, if not quickly contained. Furthermore, a political analyst from the Imperial Chronicles has concluded that the rebels are taking full advantage of instability caused by the coal crisis, to break away from Angliarique rule.

Meanwhile, anonymous government sources have revealed to us that earlier today, a coal shipment purportedly from the Federation of Westernesse, docked at Port Lionheart. The sources were thankful for the gift, in hopes that it will lessen the burdensome effects of the coal crisis.​

Unrest Crushed in Carpathia​

The Unified Force was victorious today, in its effortful advance against the brutal terrorist Spascirian Labour Front (SLF). An anonymous member of high-rank in the Unified Force has confirmed that over 9,000 Spascirians had been killed, but refused to comment if VichyCha the SLF leader had been killed.

The Office of the Interior stated that the terror group had been reduced to a number insufficient to pose any real threat to the Angliarique Throne and the local government of Carpathia. The office further elaborated that it will continue to seek and eliminate all other Spascirian terrorists.
As of yet, it is unknown if any terrorists have fled Carpathia to seek refuge in the other cities. Whilst the Interior Office states that, “We are on high alert of any possible SLF movements.”

This is the first Spascirian rebellion in over a century. And was the quickest to be crushed, with fighting lasting less than a day.

However, many Spascirians have condemned the actions of the Unified Force, as a massacre of innocent life. A Regnal Press Carpathia correspondent has reported that, the mood there is increasingly tense and depressing, with houses burnt to the ground and numerous corpses lying about.
Still, there is an outpour of overwhelming support from Angliarisians outside of Carpathia. Many have attempted to enlist in the Unified Force but were rejected as there was no dire need for a replenishment of troops.

Emperor Angliareich II meanwhile, has warned all Spascirians, terrorist or not, “To not engage in senseless violence and to be grateful that the Angliarisians continue to uphold the social contract of tolerating Spascirian culture.”​

Opinion: Are all Spascirians, terrorists?
Imperial Chronicles ​

For decades, the Spascirians have attempted to rebel against the Angliarique Throne and Government. Now they've done it again.

Will there ever be an end to this havoc? I myself, do not know. The Angliarique Government needs to answer their fellow Angliarisians and quit hiding behind the Interior Army. The pointless violence of the Interior Army has always been used to crush the rebels, and such use of force will aggravate them further. So, I urge the government to consider another way.
I call on the government to consider using preventive measures. Currently, Angliarisians seeking work in government, go through a rigorous process of background checks. I propose that the government do the same for Spascirians. Investigate the backgrounds of all Spascirians and you'll find the terrorists you're looking for.
This will do away with the need of the horrific use of terror once and for all!

Governor calls Historian's idea silly

In response to the Historian:

The suggestion made by a historian in the Imperial Chronicles today, is an immature idea, at worst silly.
No sane person would contemplate such a plan!

At present, an estimated 2,000,000 Spascirians live in Carpathia. This figure accounts for the entire ethnic group. It would therefore be unrealistic to facilitate the background check of that number of people. And even if we do, what would happen after? If we find the terrorists, those who aren't terrorists will see their "innocent classification" as an implicit agreement from the Angliarique Government on the issue of equal rights for Spascirians. The government cannot afford such a dangerous notion among Spascirians to exist and spread. I find simply, that the suggestion is in toto ridiculous.

As Interior Governor, I reject this idea completely.

Government Does A 180 Turn​

The Angliarique Permanent Government has made a 180 turn of policy with regards to initiating background checks for 2 million Spascirians. The Regnal Press confirmed in a message from the Chancellor, that the government will go forward with the plan.

Earlier today, a historian suggested to the government, that background checks could potentially weed out Spascirian terrorists. The idea was lambasted by Interior Governor Lord Henry for being silly. Subsequently, the governor rejected the idea, stating that it would endanger society.

The Chancellor has since stated in the same message, that the governor’s response was personal. And did not reflect the government’s views. The chancellor did not state if Lord Henry would be punished for, disobeying the government, and arbitrarily rejecting the Historian’s suggestion.

Meanwhile, this shock reversal has come as a surprise to many Angliarisians. With nationalists being almost outraged at the chancellor’s decision, the reason being Lord Henry’s speculation that Spascirians categorised as ‘innocent’ would mean implicitly agreeing that not all Spascirians are bad, hence contributing positively to the Spascirian movement for equal rights.

Still, a policy analyst has applauded the chancellor for his bravery. Stating, “The chancellor is undeniably brave for his choices. Removing Spascirian terrorists could in the long run, increase employability for Spascirians, strengthening the nation’s labour market, and creating Spascirian-owned enterprise that may compete with Angliarisian producers to the benefit of all consumers.”

Emperor Angliareich II has refused an interview with the Regnal Press on this policy change.

The Angliarique Permanent Government through the local Carpathia Government, has created a table to show the status of all Spascirians after being background checked. The Permanent Government is certain that the risk of error is below 0.000001%. And is thus negligible.

The companion dog of Emperor Angliareich II is missing. His Majesty’s companion, Barley, was last seen with a Unified Force officer walking around Port Lionheart. We urge anyone who has seen a black dog about more than uhhh… half a metre tall wearing a red collar, to report the sighting to your local government interior office.

The furry companion whose official title is, Chieftain-Overlord of Valeria (COV) was granted royal status by the present emperor upon his ascension to the throne. Therefore, any attempt or act to cause harm to the companion will be seen as attack on the emperor personally, and will be viewed by law as high treason. Of which the punishment is...… death.

The emperor has also.... conveyed a message to me, which I shall now..... read.

“People of Angliarique, in these trying times, I ask that you pray to the almighty Saint Angliareich for the safe recovery of my beloved friend. I call upon both Angliarisians and Spascirians in these desperate moments, please if you have seen any dog that wears a red collar and is about the size of a small child, please report it to your local official. For the peace and sanity of royal minds, Barley must be found alive. The nation needs me. And in turn, I need Barley.”

Barley Believed to Have Boarded Cargo Ship

In a message to the Regnal Press, the chancellor has communicated the belief that the emperor’s companion had boarded a cargo ship.

“Virtually the entirety of Port Lionheart has been searched by the Interior Army. With the conclusion that the companion was not seen anywhere on the island where the port is situated,” said the chancellor. He continued, “Thus it is believed by the crisis office, that Barley has likely boarded a cargo ship docked at the port. Presently, we do not know which cargo ship, Barley is on. The office is currently contacting all Angliarique sea-faring vessels including cargo ships. As always, we pray to Saint Angliareich for the return of his majesty’s companion.”

Meanwhile, a retired officer from the Hound & Canine Battalion of the Interior Army has opined that, “Barley may not survive for long, perhaps less than a week. Urgent action must be made. The situation is dire.”

As required by the government, the Regnal Press urges any witnesses to sightings of the emperor’s companion dog, to report to their local government interior office.​

BREAKING: HIGH COURT HEARS SPASCI CASE FOR THE FIRST TIME

The Angliarique Judiciary through a 7-judge bench, witnessed a major shift in norms after its High Court in the Sanctum of Laurels heard a case between Chief Prosecutor Sir Harold & Defense Counsel Madison.

The case involves the lives of over 700,000 Spascirians awaiting their appeal on whether they will be sent to Carpathia’s prisons or freed. Recently, the government announced that Spascirians would now be free to live outside of Carpathian walls. On the sole condition that they passed their background check. However, many have failed and are now in virtual purgatory in Carpathia.

This is the first case of its kind, involving Spascirians being represented in a court of law. And according to Topaz Gloria, a senior political analyst with the Imperial Chronicles, “A momentous decision by the government on the question of minority rights.”

The shift in policy came as a shock to many people. But to Defense counsel Madison, it was an opportunity. Mr Madison, a longtime Angliarisian activist, is well known for campaigning for the freedom of Spascirians. Dubbed “Mr Opposition” by his supporters, Mr Madison now represents a little over 700,000 Spascirians in a class action lawsuit against the Permanent Government. He is calling on the government to act on their promises given to the Spascirian people.

He says that, “The government is responsible for the freedom of everyone. They cannot renege on the promise of freedom being granted to the Spascirians.”

Meanwhile, the government has appointed Sir Harold Gerald as Chief Prosecutor to defend against the claims made by Mr Madison. An interior office spokesman has told the press and public, that Mr Madison’s act though valiant in appearance, is a masquerade for treason. A warrant for his arrest has been issued, but he cannot be detained, as arrests made in the Sanctum of Laurels are illegal. The spokesman further stated that, arrangements are being made to come to a settlement with Mr Madison, hoping that he would surrender himself peacefully to the interior army eventually.

The Regnal Press was able to receive a judge’s comment on the current state of affairs. The senior magistrate who requests for anonymity is part of the 7 member bench, that presided over the hearing this late afternoon. He has told us, “From a historical standpoint, this is a first. It was brave of the Defense counsel to take on the challenge. But I don’t think the Old Guard of the court would find the verdict in favour of Mr Madison’s client. Angliarique nationalism is pretty overwhelming in among their lordships.”

A bakery has been opened by a freed Spascirian. Matthew Harbor becomes the first Spascirian person to engage in enterprise since the government’s civil rights reform.

Aged 71, Matthew says he has longed for the opportunity to start a small bread shop since he learned the art of baking at the age of 15 with his mother.

“It really is an eye-opening moment for me. I have been waiting years and years for this moment, I am so lucky to have a government that helps me. Long Live the Emperor!” He was quoted saying. Matthew was also overjoyed at receiving a government grant, "When I applied for a business permit, I got a nice present. Fifty thousand Dahls, I've never seen so much in my life." Laughing as he said.

However, not everyone is happy with the central bank’s decision to permit and license a Spascirian-owned business. Popular Angliarique nationalist George Hubble, has criticised the government for breaching Angliarisian constitutional status.
He argued that under present constitutional law, “The supreme status of Angliarisian people in all aspects of life is guaranteed.” He elaborated, “Thus, Spascirians not being supreme nor equal, cannot be given the right to enterprise.”

Still, the Interior Governor has affirmed that, “The supreme status of our people, will never be violated. I can personally guarantee that. But firmly I put it, Spascirian enterprise is here to stay.”

Angliarique Emperor Makes First Public Appearance Since Mania Diagnosis

His Majesty Emperor Angliareich II made a public appearance at the Sanctum of Laurels, for the first time since his unfortunate diagnosis with mania.

Journalists awaiting the High Court’s decision on the first Spasci case, hurriedly shifted and redirected their attention towards the emperor, when the personal aide-de-camp of his majesty, Lord Carpathia II told reporters that an impromptu press conference would be held soon.

His Majesty was seen arriving in a wheelchair to the conference table in the Justices’ meeting room. Word of the conference soon spread and the room was packed with people: reporters, army personnel, government officials and prominent business leaders. They stood shoulder to shoulder, eagerly anticipating his majesty’s first statement.

“My loyal subjects, Angliarisians and the Spascirian people! As most you of must have been aware of, I was diagnosed with mania. My condition is recovering and I ask all of you, not to be anxious over this small issue. The government, I am glad to say, has not failed me in my absence. That itself is commendable and a prime example of the true loyalty that all people across this empire owe to me and my successors.”
“In fact, I have been so healthy in body and in mind, that I have read up intensively on current affairs. I am now open to questions if there are any.”

The emperor’s opening statement was relieving, as many people in the room breathed a sigh of relaxation, knowing that their emperor was in the pink of health.

“Your Majesty! Spencer from the Regnal Press!” A blonde man shouted eagerly. “What is your majesty’s opinion towards Tarusa’s invasion of the Hanseatics?” The question seemed to have caught the emperor by surprise.

Angliareich answered back, “The situation… is a precarious one… but I wouldn’t call it an invasion. The Tarusan people as I see it, are simply defending themselves against potential threats. Think of it this way… Tarusa is a monarchy and the Hanseatics.... a republic. I think this has to do with essentially, what can be put simply as a Defense of a sovereign nation’s right to the choice of government type”

“Like a democracy then?!” Spencer the reporter fired back.

“No! Absolutely false, that’s terrible question!” Angliareich shouted. The reporter was stunned and quickly made his way out of the conference.

“Any more questions?” The emperor asked.

“Over here, your majesty! Julia from the Imperial Chronicles!” A woman shouted from the far end of the room. “Tarusa’s invasion of the Hanseatics, is a disgraceful attack on the spirit of world peace. When will you condemn the Tsar’s unprovoked war?”

“Your Majesty, will we declare war soon?!” Yelled a baker.

“Your Majesty, what is your view on the Spasci court case?!” Yelled a banker.

The emperor was overwhelmed, the personal aide-de-camp recognised the increasingly tense situation and ordered the crowd to be removed from the room. The emperor left for Valeria soon after.

The government’s position towards the Tarusa-Hansea war is still unclear. Press circles are anxiously awaiting an official response from the Exterior Governor.

Upset for Spascirians as High Court Trashes Freedom Case

Long time activist Mr Madison appeared before the High Court today, as the distinguished 7-member bench announced their ruling over the case involving the freedom of over 700,000 Spascirians.

The eminent Chief Justice of the High Court ruled, “The High Court of the Angliarique Empire, rejects in unanimity the arguments put forth by the defence, and by extension the seditious arguments put forth by Mr Madison. This ruling is final.” Mr Madison was subsequently apprehended for treason. His Majesty the Emperor made a special decree allowing for Madison’s arrest on court grounds.

Meanwhile, political analysts predict that the court’s ruling might spark another Spascirian rebellion, speculated by many people to be a last-ditch effort to free themselves for Carpathia’s oppressive dungeons.

FAC Plans to Glitter Bomb European Forum, Source Says

The Foreign Affairs Cabinet of Angliarique is planning to glitter bomb the European Forum, according to an anonymous source. The source told the Regnal Press that the purpose of the action is to highlight the growing division within the international community.

I have reintroduced national service for those aged 18 and above, with this we enter a new epoch of our great prowess. Ambassadors in Fellow Kingdoms Recalled, Spokesman Walks Out​

At a monthly press conference on Tuesday, held by the Foreign Affairs Cabinet of Angliarique, reporters were shocked to learn that the Angliarique ambassadors of the Kingdoms of @Neustria and @Rheinbund, were recalled on orders from the Angliarique Permanent Government.

Reporters scrambled to get their questions heard. And the spokesman, Mr Sinclair stood ready to answer.

Journo 1: Mr Sinclair! What is the cause of this sudden withdrawal? And will more recalls be made?

Sinclair: As far as I’m aware, no further recalls will be made, except if we are hit by aggressive actors. But, I can assure you and the people, that this move by the APG is a critical procedure undertaken with the best interests of the people in mind. Alright you there in the back!

Journo 2: Sinclair, have the respective governments been informed of this undertaking? And will there be repercussions?

Sinclair: They’ll know it now. But, I want to assure the international community, that this done carefully with the interests of harmony in mind. The FAC stands by this recall, and any attempts by any foreign entity to interfere in Angliarique’s affairs will be met strongly. Any more questions?

Journo 3: When will the ambassadors be reinstated? And does this have anything to do with our naval buildup near Frescania, which has been publicly condemned by some countries?

FAC Vice-President Rebukes Lord Henry’s Aggression​

In a rare rebuke against the royal establishment, a senior diplomat of the Foreign Affairs Cabinet has urged for the recall of Angliarique’s naval assets deployed to the European Forum. Sir Lutoune, aged 102, is the vice-president of the FAC and a champion of Angliarique Pacifism.

Earlier yesterday, Sir Lutoune spoke at length during an annual conference held by the Spascirian-led Angliarique Peace League (APL). He accused Lord Henry for mismanaging his position as Interior Army chief. Further stating that, “Lord Henry continues to embarrass us on the world stage. A naval deployment to the European Forum?! I mean what on earth is he thinking?!”
The diplomat’s speech roused a lot of support, purportedly a standing ovation occurred after he had condemned the “brazen use of coercion against friends of the empire.”

This rare attack against the government, exposes a polar divide between the civil service and the monarchy. Already, high-ranking sources in the capital, have informed the Regnal Press that war would mean end of the status quo. Further suggesting that the monarchy should not act ‘perversely’ in peacetime.​
