Moments after the Inauguration

Olivia could still hear the chants of her name by the tens of thousands of supporters outside as she continued to walk deeper and deeper inside the Fed Legislature Building. She had just delivered her first speech as President, and she was feeling confident and full of warmth even after just speaking for an hour in the freezing cold and snow. Surrounding her were her closest advisers, all taking turns giving her the rundown of the rest of the day's schedule and the meetings she had waiting for her as soon as she left the building. It all still didn't seem completely real to her still, the voices surrounding her all melting together into a mumble that soon was overtaken by her own thoughts. She had the job now, and the responsibilities of performing her tasks as President was starting to weigh down on her. Where do I even begin? What if I fail?

"Madam President!"

She was quickly rocked back to the present. Her Chief of Staff, RIchard Nyllund, had met up with the group and was standing in front of her with an urgent look on his face.

"Madam President, before you leave you have been summoned to Senator Halvdan's office. He say's its rather urgent."

She was shocked, and somewhat intrigued as well. Jordan Halvdan was her political rival, who actively campaigned with her opponent in last months election for the Presidency. He is considered a far right extremist, who worked in the Provincial Legislature against independence and the unification of the Saef colonies that now makes up The United States of Saeffeland. He had, and some still think, continues to have connections to right wing terrorists who fought against uniting the colonies in the brief civil war that was waged years ago. His rise into the political scene was seen as extremely dangerous to some, mostly to those within her own party and was pro-unification. There were calls to completely outlaw the individuals within the factions that were against unification, which included people like Jordan and a handful of others. It was decided that the elections would be free and fair without any interruption, to the disapproval of many who feared their representation would ignite tensions between pro and anti unification Saeffelandians. He went on to run for the Senate seat in Varmland, the small conservative enclave in the north which was eager to have a representative with such extreme views. It was one of the handful on hurdles she knew she'd have to face down the line eventually.

"Have them hold the motorcade while I speak to the Senator. This shouldn't take long.....I hope."

Her circle quickly disbanded after she excused herself, turning down the corridor back towards the elevators that would take her to a meeting that was shrouded in mystery. Why on Earth would he want to speak to her so soon, and what about? The elevator ride seemed like an eternity, which allowed her to swim in the hundreds of different scenarios that were playing out in her brain. Finally out of the elevator, she was down the hall and at her destination. Pausing for a second to brush some of the snow that had accumulated on her shoulders off, she breathed in deep, opened the office door, and walked in. Senator Halvdan was standing behind his desk, staring out his office window over the snow covered landscape. Without even turning to face her, he chuckled deviously and addressed her.

"Madam President, please have a seat. I have a lot to discuss with you..."
