ARMY GUNSHIPS ATTACK COMMUNIST STRONGHOLD
In the mountains of the island of Malabang, Royal Army gunships attacked a Malabang Revolutionary Army camp killing an estimated twenty rebels and destroying a stockpile of munitions. This strike came in retaliation of last week's MRA bombing of a police barracks in Parang that killed six policemen and five civilians and may indicate a new offensive by the military against the communist guerillas. The bombing of the Parang police barricks had been the first such attack in the six months and is feared that it is an indication that the MRA may resume their reign of terror that has killed over two thousand soldiers and an equal number of civilians in the past six years.

An seaquake measuring 4.5 struck five miles offshore near the north coast town of Buguey. Though tsunami alerts were sent to north shore communities as well as to Shinryeo and Dai Viet, the quake did little more than rattle windows and knock objects off shelves.
