LEND-LEASE AGREEMENT SIGNED!

With incidents across the world forcing nations to pick sides on the great divide between Reaction and Revolution, the People's Assembly has voted decisively to support our comrades in arms, whose embattled state has suffered such grievous blows in its righteous war against the Mezhist Union, who truly embody the very worst excesses of all that is vile and anti-progressive about Fascist Reaction.

"Though we cannot at this time contemplate conflict with Danmark, Sarmatia or any of its lackeys, we nonetheless stand with Miroslavl and especially Ragiestan in its time of need. To this end, a Lend-Lease Agreement has been proposed for Rageistan, and accepted on its behalf by the Miroslavan Ambassador, whereby we shall lend them over 100 torpedo-bomber planes, pilots to train theirs in their use, and also a small Marine Expeditionary force of around 400 men, who will act purely as advisors and trainers for the Rageistani Defence Force against Imperialist Aggression. They have already set off from Carnforth Docks, and will be travelling discreetly in neutral vessels. If Danmark nonetheless engages them on sea, we will nonetheless consider it an open act of war." confirmed a Public Statement by the People's Assembly in majority.

This is a historic step forward by the People's Republic, who have for many years now invested heavily in defensive measures, wary of the dangers of Capitalist and Reactionary infiltration, and rightly sought to purge our beloved homeland of the traitors and saboteurs who threatened our peace. But now those times are past, and our Premier has commanded that we look now to the aid of others in their times of need, and soon it will be likely that yet more of our brave sons and daughters will go forth to aid the cause of Revolution far and wide.

Though some may decry and howl at the efforts of peaceful Communist Nations to preserve the peace abroad, it is clear that if action is not taken, then the empty and malodorous words of Reaction will poison the vacuum our absence from world affairs will leave, and yet further retard the cause of the Proletariat.

The Fennian government has taken note over the Havenite announcement of commencement of arms supplies to the Miroslavian puppet state of Raigestan. While this act is expectable from a regime of heavily similar characteristics as the Miroslavian reign of terror, we are nevertheless dismayed by the Havenite regime's actions. Continued provision of support to the Miroslavian occupation of Raigestan constitutes further proof of communist hypocrisy and desire for chaos and international confrontation as evidenced by continued foreign policy of red states throughout Europe.

FENNIAN UNION THREATENS THAUMANTIC

Proving itself once again the shrillest of demagogues for their Mezhist masters, the northern Fennian Union has chosen this moment to issue ultimata to sovereign democratic nations such as our People's Republic, backing up their contempible rhetoric with displays of reactionary aggression that, whilst failing utterly to intimidate us or our comrades elsewhere, nonetheless have forced the People's Assembly to remain in close convocation in Westhaven for several days now. It is rare for a full parliamentary style gathering to be necessary even in times of crisis, as the governmental system of the People's Republic works best when decentralised. However, the iminent possibility of open war has drawn closer with Fennian Warships entering our historic fishing grounds in the Northern Thaumantic, appearing to threaten even neutral trade routes.

"This is an intolerable display of provocative violence, at a time when a Carentanian Police Action, in its own sphere of influence, has drawn condemnations from all manner of reactionary states. For the Fennian Union to now deploy its warships, particularly a highly visible Battleship, in waters not far from our own, is an unmistakable gesture of aggression, which will be interpreted thusly." stated a short missive from the People's Admiralty, which has also confirmed that a Wolfpack has been detached to "safeguard" the sea-lanes and ensure that any vessels that approach trade vessels or fishing fleets will "remain chronically unsure if they are also being watched in return." This is completely in line with the People's Navy passive doctrine of the "Open" Gauntlet, allowing for the use of submarines as a passive defensive measure, as opposed to the "Closed" Gauntlet, where reactionary vessels with known vital strategic economic use are considered fair game.

This is clearly a dangerous time for all revolutionary states, and Havenshire itself, long used to gazing Eastward, must now return its gaze to the cold waters north, where the small but highly volatile Fascist reactionary regime of the Fennians now seeks to extend its own sphere into our own. Though Havenshire has historically long enjoyed good relations with the Northern Nations, it is clear that the Fennian Union wishes to put this history under great strain.

Although the stormclouds of War gather in the Far East and even over the Long Sea of our comrades, it is, although not certain, still grimly possible that this storm will break upon our own shores, if tough measures are not taken immediately to deter Reactionary Violence.

The Fennian Union

The Fennian government wishes to issue corrections to several glaring inaccuracies presented in Havenite state-sponsored propaganda. First, we consider utterly ludicrous and without any basis in fact the comparison of the neutrality patrol maintained by the Fennian Naval and Air Forces to the acts of piracy perpetrated in the Long Sea by the Carentanians.

We note that outside of actions of maritime law enforcement that fall under the Fennian sovereignity of its territorial waters, the Fennian Union has not, for example, declared an unilateral ban of maritime movement for the purposes of extortion in the manner of Havenshire's Carentanian allies.

Neither has the Fennian Union plotted invasion and subjugation of its neighbors. Again unlike Havenshire's Carentanian allies.

Nor does the Fennian Union occupy foreign nations and attempt to conquer further. Unlike Havenshire's Miroslavl allies.

Thus, we can only conclude that the accusations made by Havenite propaganda are without basis in fact. However, they serve as proof of what the Fennian government has declared since Carentania commenced its campaign of intimidation in the Long Sea, that the only genuine instigators of conflict in modern European policy are indeed the communists themselves. We suspect that the purpose of this campaign of Havenite muscle-flexing is to intimidate the Fennian people in order to see us do away with our diplomatic defense of Jurzani sovereignity against repeated Carentanian attacks. This, however, shall not happen.

The vitriol- laden reaction of a press outlet that can be considered a mouthpiece of the Havenite regime serves as proof of communist plots against nations on the shores of the Thaumantic Ocean, for otherwise they would not have reacted with such aggression to the maritime peace maintenance carried out by the Fennian military. We wish to additionally note that just today, the War Office accepted a proposition from the Teloran government to conduct joint neutrality patrols with the Fennian Union along the Thaumantic Ocean. The proposition that the Union would plot an invasion and then jointly patrol the seas with states which by their very ideology would surely be opposed to such an idea will likely find more attention in comedy than it will in serious halls of European politics.

In actuality, the Fennian Naval and Air Forces have been activated for the purposes of safeguarding peace in the Thaumantic Ocean and to make sure that the sea routes remain open to commercial traffic, and that our territorial waters will remain safeguarded against intrusion in a time of great international tension and the coinciding heightened movement of armed forces.

The Havenshire government does not recognise the Fennian or Teloran right to millitarise the waters of the Northern Thaumantic. Despite its rhetoric of preserving peace, it is not the Communist nations of the Long Sea or the Thaumantic that maintain large forces capable of invasion. Though the Fennian Union talks much of the Long Sea and the Worker's Republic, it repeatedly fails to give clear reasons for its joint millitary venture into the fishing and trading grounds of the Northern Thaumantic, which has made it necessary for us to respond in kind.

The Fennian Union issues assurances that it has no aggressive designs, and insists that it is merely trying to protect its territorial waters and safeguard commercial traffic. We were not aware that either of these things were threatened, untill the Fennian Union and its misguided Teloran coalition decided to threaten the neutrality and peace of these waters by mobilising their fleets and air forces.

If the Fennian and Teloran Navies and Air Forces continue to make enroachments into international waters or the territorial waters of any sovereign state within the Northern Thaumantic, we will be forced to further concerntrate our own naval forces in this vast stretch of water, since it is not Havenshire which has sought to menace or to cajole. Havenshire does not fear Invasion, nor is it capable of making one of its own, were it even remotely interested in such as a policy goal, which it is not. We can therefore only conclude that it is not fear of loss of neutrality that motivates the Fennian Union, who have long ago sacrificed any right to use such a word with their unceasing slavish devotion to the Mezhist-Imperialist axis, but rather a determination to exercise an unwarranted sense of importance and reactionary aggression over the waters which belong to noone but the people who use them for peaceable means.

The Fennian Union

So long as a single ship flying the banner of the cross and the lion sails the Thaumantic Ocean, so shall sail the Fennian Union Navy as a watchful angel to keep them safe from harm. Alas, my Havenite colleague has made a critical error in daring to criticize the Union's commitment to act in defense of its citizens and those in other civilized nations if he does not see the supreme hypocrisy in Havenite state media's comparison of nonrestrictive military maneuvers such as the activities of the Fennian Union Navy to the massive campaign of terror initiated by the Carentanians with the obvious purpose of intimidating the good people of the Jurzan into abandoning their sovereignity and joining the retinue of communist puppet states.

My Havenite colleague also wonders why the Union feels necessity for such measures even as he himself represents a nation that is openly supporting Miroslavl, perhaps the most brutal among the many brutal communist regimes, in waging war in the East, and while his own government associates closely with the Carentanians trying to sow conflict and war to the Long Sea, and while his own government provides a safehaven to Fennian terrorists plotting attacks against the Union driven by same misguided ideologies as your own government. In addition, his own government responds to what have still been relatively small-scale naval operations with submarine deployments and threats to attack civilian shipping that have been made in its official media. A proverbial look in the mirror is clearly in order in Westhaven.

The Union Navy is fully entitled to fly its flag anywhere so long as it does not do so in the territorial waters of other sovereign states. Havenshire, even for their talk of "their" Thaumantic Ocean - as if Havenshire alone was fit to decide who travels the high seas - is unfortunately not in the position to intimidate the Fennian nation.

Rest assured, the Union has no interest in intervening in the movements or other affairs of Havenite vessels military or civilian so long as they do not intervene in ours.

Telora will continue to work with the Fennian Union on the development of joint neutrality patrols to protect neutral shipping in the Thaumantic Ocean. We take a dim view of threats issued against us for seeking to protect our waters, our ships and our citizens against the threat of war in Europe through the use of our own fleet. Havenshire's rash expansion of its naval presence in the Thaumantic Ocean represents an unnecessary escalation of language and action in this matter. Telora's action is a simple defensive measure against an increasingly dangerous situation on the high seas for all nations.

We will keep the option of talks with Havenshire to resolve this crisis open at all points; but we must insist at this juncture that we be allowed to protect our ships wheresoever they may sail.

CONFERENCE TO RESOLVE THUAMANTIC CRISIS?

Though tensions have been running high, the People's Republic was able to rise above the taunts and jeers of reactionary governments, whose fear of communist subversion and their own people is such that they clung to fellow reactionary regimes in trying to smear those countries which do not fall within their understanding of a globalist order. Diplomatic talks have succeeded in arranging a conference, with even the somewhat suprising demand of the inclusion of the Empire of Great Engellex being concede readily. Indeed, whilst despite being fully aware that the withdrawal of Havenite submarines had already been arranged as a sine qua non for the talks, the Fennian Union continued to insist on its right to total millitary preperation in the face of now absent "tension", the Ministry of Diplomacy has graciously acknowledged that such a move on their part would no doubt be premature. "We cannot expect all regimes to behave the same way, and this misunderstanding has arisen out of a failure on our part to interpret correctly how different cultures might react to our actions. Naturally we hope to clear up these misunderstandings, and establish a baseline for continued peaceful interaction in the Northern Thaumantic." stated an official spokesperson for the Ministry.

Though Danmark has also insisted that other aspects of Havenite policy be included in the discussion, the People's Republic has not reciprocated by demanding aspects of Danmark's policy outside of the Thaumantic be included, stating that "our goals have not changed, nor will they change. Our demands are as they have always been: a return to peaceful and unthreatened commerce and maritime traffic in the Thaumantic. If aspects of Havenite policy outside of the Thaumantic need to be modified to ensure this, these are options we are willing to consider."

With Submarines withdrawing to Havenite territorial waters, many have begun to wonder if the People's Admiralty was not in some way to blame for precipitating this crisis, and wether cooler heads in Central Congress might not now prevail in re-establishing a less hostile atmosphere. The danger this crisis has shown, however, in the unity and strength of the reactionary regimes, has we hope been correctly heeded as a warning against unwise manuevers on our part, and one that will lead to further co-operation under the auspices of our Premier, who it is believed is the author of the sound policy to restore normative relations.

It is currently believed the Conference may be held in Potenza, or perhaps Ivernia. It is not certain yet which regime will agree to host the Conference, though both are favoured due to their reputations and their lack of interest in the Northern Thaumantic.

The Rigskabinet has given me the authority as Foreign Minister to state that it feels moved to accept a conference involving Telora, the Fennian Union, Gt. Engellex, Havenshire and ourselves in order to resolve the grand issues that divide us and which prevent an all-encompassing peace in the northern Thaumantic, and we are pleased that the admittance of Gt. Engellex to the table has been accepted.

We also feel moved to state that the five-party conference should be hosted by the High Kingdom of Ivernia. Dialogue between the Danic and High Kingdoms indicates that Ivernia is willing to host the conference at the Castle of Tara.

I also wish to state that I will not attend the conference in person but that the Deputy Foreign Minister, Fr. Ingeborg E. Munk shall represent the Great Danish realm a task she is ready to undertake on my behalf.

People's Radio Presents:
"GREYSNAKE AT THE FRONT"

A Radio Comedy

(Intro music fades, as we join our protagonists in media res)

(GREYSNAKE, PVT.BALDIE and LNT.CLIVE enter. Sounds of feet shuffling and the general buzz of distant battle.)

GREYSNAKE: "Baldie!"
BALDIE: "Captain Greysnake!"
GREYSNAKE: "Is this coffee or is this mud?"
BALDIE: "Well since we ran out of coffee eleven months ago I've been using mud. But at least there's sugar, sir!"
GREYSNAKE: "Is it sugar?"
BALDIE: "Well, since we ran out of sugar seven months ago I've been using Sugar substitute. I think its mostly starch. But I could add Milk!"
GREYSNAKE: "Is it Milk?"
BALDIE: "Well, since we ran out of milk four months ago I've been using saliva. But thats kind of like milk, sir."
(cue swanee whistle noise and drum sting)
(audience laughs)

GREYSNAKE: "I think I'll pass on coffee this time, Baldie. Any word on the Big Push?"
LNT. CLIVE: "Oh calloo callay and most frabjous day! I abso-bally-lutely have the most wondrous news, Captain Greysnake! For the eighteenth consecutive time, our most royal and splendiferous majesty the High Prince has authorised us, in the name of God, country and Gloriana, to advance most hastily towards the rotten commies, and give them six of the best, trousers down!"
GREYSNAKE: "A simple yes would have sufficed."
(drum sting)
LNT CLIVE: "Oh I just can't wait for it! Ever since i was a lad I've dreamed of serving in the Prince's Own. The big shiny buttons, the plumage of the shakos, the ribbons and bells..."
GREYSNAKE: "I think you're getting confused with Morris Dancers there. (beat) But if as you say we are indeed for the Big Push, I'm afraid I'll have to delay a bit longer your whimsical and high-spirited dreams of dancing and clacking sticks at the enemy. No, what this calls for is a Cunning Plan."
BALDIE: "A Cunning Plan, sir?"
GREYSNAKE:"Absolutely, Private Baldie. More Cunning than Professor Cunningsworth of Cunnington's Masters Study in Cunning Studies for the Archcunner of Cunsbury."
(laughter)
LNT CLIVE: (Sotto voce, to Baldie) Mad as a Bicycle as always, eh?
GREYSNAKE:(ignoring Clive) "In anycase, this mad push to get to move the High Prince's drinks cabinet eighteen inches closer to Westhaven may be the perfect cover for our escape from this tedious war, Baldie. In fact, that is the very key of my plan..I shall pretend to be utterly, completely, stark-raving mad!"
(dramatic dun-dun-dun! noise)
BALDIE: "You, mad sir?"
(audience laughs)
LNT CLIVE: "That'll be a bigger push than the Offensive...I mean, surely not sir!"
GREYSNAKE: "Yes indeed. I'll need two pencils, a pair of your smelly underpants, and a direct line to the Pope of Tibur, aboard his pleasure yacht, the Salty Sue...."

(They make many dramatic busy noises, including sawing, hammering, etc, as the music fades in)

ANNOUNCER: "That was another installment in the exciting and valiant adventures of Royalist Captain Greysnake and his men, a historical comedy brought to you by People's Radio. Tune in next time for yet more exciting and completely accurate adventures. Will our heroes escape the war? Will they ever find out just what it is they are fighting for? And why haven't we got no banannas? All this more next time on: GREYSNAKE, AT THE FRONT!"

HARVEST BOON FOR FISHERIES CO-OP WITH CREDIT-CULTURE PLAN

A Late post-harvest festival celebration is being held along the Western and Southern coasts today, as the Premier authorised a "Credit for 'Culture" plan, which distinctly rewards the hard labour of the brave and valiant fishermen of the Western and Southern Fisheries Co-operatives, who have struggled hard to ensure that sufficient fish is produced for the tables of the citizens of the People's Republic. The Plan makes specific reference to the use of experimental "Aquacultural" habitats to mass-breed the imported Sylvanian Salmon, a fish which has been demonstrated to have the same nutritional value as the staple Gothic Sea Cod, which has been the preferred fish for consumption in Havenshire for centuries.

However, with recent ongoing political disputes over control of the Thaumantic Oceans, and the increasing enroachment on traditional fishing grounds by Fennian, Agderike, Borean and Teloran fishing fleets, new and innovative solutions have been necessary to supplement Havenshire's share of the ocean's bounty. With the vision and clarity typical of his greatness, Premier Walker authorised a plan proposed by members of the Agricultural Research Institute for the creation of vast artifical "aquacultural" fish-farming habitats along the wild western coast. Although the geography of Havenshire's Western Coast has long been traditionally considered too remote and wild for settlement or use for fishing ports, the shelter provided by the Wild Western Coast's many coves and inlets allows for the creation of many effective salmon nurseries, the first batch of which were ready for harvest, and have eased concerns about food shortages within the People's Republic.

"For services to the People and the Nation, this plan explicitly acknowledges the genius and heroic labour of the Fishing Co-operatives, and will award proportional allocations of credit to all excess fish provided beyond existing quotas, allowing those fishermen who have strived the hardest to be rewarded with the means to accquire other things they need or desire from regional Goods Exchanges." stated the Minister for Agriculture, who also awarded several Orders of Valiant Labour to specific fishing vessels for braving the Thaumantic Sea Crisis and bringing back fat hauls for the good of the people.

Whilst the exact terms of the Compromise have not yet been determined, there is confidence that despite the darkness and cold of the winter, the People's Republic will endure in peace yet.

ANTI-SMOG MEASURES FOR WESTHAVEN TO BE DRASTICALLY IMPROVED

The pall of industry has long been a blight over the largest and most industrious cities of the People's Republic, with Westhaven, Clyneston, Walkerton and Carnforth all sharing some degree of unhealthy, industry-produced miasma. For decades it has been known that the leading factor in health problems and shortened life-spans amongst the proletariat has been industrial byproduct, particularly soot, smoke inhalation, and sulfur dioxide poisoning. Given the crucial benefits of heavy industry however, a simple reduction in industry or the necessity of production was untenable, and for the most part treatment of these conditions has been the primary factor for dealing with them, with the Central Health Service set up to ensure that free, universal healthcare is available for all citizens of the People's Republic. Although the CHS has recieved some criticism for its lack of rural healthcare support and allegations of preferential treatment for delegates and members of the People's Assembly, the number of reported cases of sulfur dioxide poisoning, fatalities and serious illnesses directly attributable to industrial byproduct have been expotentially reduced.

However, a new measure for the City of Westhaven has been experimentally adopted, to begin to eliminate "Smog" all together. Heavy, restrictive standards have been placed on all industrial and commercial centres to begin to end their reliance on sulfur dioxide, and instead switch to carbonfluorides, which are much more efficient and notable for their low toxicity. Similarly, Asbestos, long tolerated for its efficency as a fire retardant despite known health complications, is to be removed immediately and replaced with far-less toxic wall insulations, developed by Heavy Chem Co-operative, who have recently established a plant for this purpose in Estborough.

The benefits of this concerted effort to reduce Smog are expected to be dramatic, with the number of infantile and childhood breathing difficulties expected to fall by as much as 30% by 1958 alone. Furthermore, the beautification of Westhaven will be profound, with air visibility likely to increase greatly, and the vision of a bright, reflective, shining city of progress that much closer to a reality. No longer will workers have to endure the grey, choking pall of the necessity of industry, but instead labour with a smile and hope in their heart for a quite literally brighter tomorrow!

SYLVANIA SNUBS DANMARK OVER ITS GLOBAL IMPERIALISM

This week saw a suprising but not unwelcome public rebuttal to Danmark's strident hypernationalist and imperialist rhetoric in global news, with the President of the Sylvanian Republic, Sander Rygaard, penning an acerbic letter to the offices of the demagogic rag, "Den Danske Tidende", Danmark's most popular source of news. The letter scorchingly made reference to the newspaper, and by extension the Danish people's, arrogant populist interference in the Occidentian Republic's affairs, decrying its "yellow journalism" and hypocritical asserion that Sylvania is "historically unimportant."

The President, a democratically elected head of his state, went on to conclude that he would be happy to accept "outcast status" from the Danish "family of nations", as he could not stomach the moral cost of further association with the imperialism of Danmark's monarchic regime. Whilst relations with Occidentia have been often mercurial, Sylvania includes a number of Havenite ex-patriates, some descended from those who sought a better future in the New World, away from the oppression and stagnation of the then monarchist Havenshire. Others are themselves reactionaries or bitter ex-monarchists, but the connection afforded to Sylvania by the presence of these Havenites is tangible. Though Sylvania has as yet shown no signs of seeking a full-hearted awakening into a Council-Communist state, we nonetheless regard its democratic institutions and devotion to independence from and abhorrence of Old World Imperialism with great fondness, and hope that perhaps, in finding a common enemy, greater ties might be made with Sylvania or other Occidental nation-states, and so perhaps encourage greater appreciation for the ideals of Council-Communism in the New World.

RUMOURS OF FUEL SHORTAGES GREATLY UNFOUNDED

The rumours of a fuel shortage in Havenshire have been proven to be demonstrably false, as concerns about shortages of coal and even wood supplies have led to some rural areas being deprived of vital sources of heat in what is proving to be a particularly cold winter, though one without much snow.

"The rumours began when primarily Carnish areas in Greathamptonshire reported a severe lack of useable fuel, partly due to recent flooding which washed away existing coal stockpiles and soaked much of the wood. What was in fact a temporary shortage, quickly remedied, was blown far out of proportion by instigators, who alleged that the shortages, an unfortunate occurrence due to severe weather conditions, were instead the result of incompetence or laziness on the part of other bodies within the People's Republic." stated a spokesperson for Domestic Coal Co-operative, the body largely responsible for fuel distribution in Havenshire.

"We feel that efforts to play the blame game have undermined public confidence, when in fact the only weakness in the system is a current inability to predict changing weather patterns. However, I am given to understand that preperations have now been laid in place for the likelihood of severe late-winter snow-storms, and stockpiles of road grit and salt have been set aside, should a similar emergency arise."

Reports of Coal Shortages are now believed to have originated in villages and districts specifically allotted to Carnish citizenry, and demands for a Public inquiry into the source of this needless instigation have begun.

"Ever since the flooding displaced those damn Carnies into areas allotted for good, loyal Havenites there's been a whole heap of problems. Rubbish has appeared in public allotment spaces, small things have gone missing, and weird, superstitious signs have been appearing everywhere. Everyone knows the Carns still celebrate many antiquated religious festivals like Samhain, but this is just insidious." complained one regional Councillor to us, who wished to remain anonmyous.

Wether the time has come to re-assess the place of the Carnish within Havenite society and the People's Republic or not, it is comforting to know that we are prepared to weather whatever comes, and there is strong hope that 1953 will see the Dawn of a new phase in Havenite growth and prosperity.

Premier John Walker 1877-1952

National Anthem of Havenshire

THE GREAT LEADER HAS PASSED, A NATION MOURNS

Citizens of the People's Republic, workers of the world, it has already been announced via radio that as of last night, Premier Johnathan Walker, the Great Leader, the "Red Labeller", the Father of the Free People's Republic, has passed away after a long battle with illness. A towering figure in our nation, the Premier had been ill for some time, reclusive and withdrawn, contemplative of the great work that he had embarked upon, that we had all embarked upon. It is known that before he died, he wished it to be known that 1953 would be the most glorious year yet for us all, and that work was to commence on the construction of a mighty new road system to compensate for past infrastructural difficulties.

Whilst it is now unclear if this great project will indeed ever be begun, what is clear is that an Era has passed. A Chapter in this nation's fine history has closed forever. Without the steady hand of the Great Captain on the ship of state, many now feel lost, afraid, confused. It is indeed a dark winter, a winter of discontent, of hunger and the cold, and of the bitterness of a heart broken, the cruel hand of time and fate robbing us of our leader at a time when many of us feel we simply cannot do without him.

Yet despite this bitterness, despite the difficulty his loss at this time gives us, he has planted the seed in all of us and in the representatives of the people, the Central Congress, to carry on. As long as we live and strive, as long as we remember and keep his great cause dear in our hearts, Johnathan Walker is not truly dead. The Revolution is not dead. It is absurd, impossible, to suggest that anything could truly destroy the spirit of revolution that, now revealed, fills all of us as surely as the tides fill our bays, and the winds fill the valleys.

Tides and gales may come and go, but what Walker built in this country is immortal, and we owe it to his legacy, to ourselves, to remember always what was achieved by him, in the Civil War, in the Red Spring, in the hardest fight of all, the fight for Peace, Equality and Prosperity.

Though Party Chairman George Macclesfield is nominally now Head of the State, a coalition of Inner Cabinet members will be working together, sharing the duties that only Walker had the moral and physical fibre to carry out alone. It is unclear who will be nominated Premier, if indeed the post will ever be truly, fully implemented again. All that is certain is that a harder, but no less bright, future awaits us all.

On behalf of the writing and editorial teams at the Clarion, we thank you Premier John Walker, wherever your spirit now may rest, and look forward to a 1953, though tinged by grief, accelerating us ever onwards towards the Dawn of Total Communism.

A NEW BEGINNING, MARCH ALL-PEOPLE'S CONFERENCE PLANNED

The Central Congress has announced plans to host a massive conference for all the Parties of the Revolutionary Internationale, to begin on March 1st and conclude March 5th. Although the full State funeral for our Great Leader has been postphoned untill the end of March, Acting Premier Macclesfield has declared his intent that the New Spring begin as soon as possible, and that all comrades from all countries be invited, to formulate plans for the future of not just the People's Republic, but the movement of Council-Communism and Revolutionary socialism.

"The All-People's Conference is open to everyone with interest in learning about and contributing to the ongoing International movement, and the need to educate and liberate all peoples of this earth to the inevitable future of communism. This Conference will be the largest held since the Great Internationale of the 1920s, however we have specifically chosen not to name it such- this is not purely a planning session for determining how best to encourage the growth of revolutionary proletariat movements abroad, but a discussion to decide once and for all what shape that socialism will take, and how we, those of us who have already adapted a proletariat-led government and an enlightened system of people-led commerce, will get from here to full Communism, as quickly as possible."

This bold statement followed open invitations to delegations from Carentania, Parthia, Miroslavl, and over 60 different Parties and Movements across the globe dedicated to advancing socialist or socialistic causes. Notably absent from the invitations were any Post-delegationists, an absence which will prove telling when the Conference itself begins.

Details about what will be discussed have already been leaked, with topics of discussion likely to include Technocracy and Communism, The Future of Agriculture, Shadow Price Indexes and the Co-operative model, The Freedom of the Seas and the Sailor as Proletariat, Art, Culture and the Dream of Socialism, and, most controversially of all, False Roads to Communism and Reactionaries, and what to do about them.

The All-People's Conference may come not a moment too soon, as rumours persist that the Ministries of the People's Republic continue to pursue their own agendas with regards to the full benefit of the People's Republic. Most controversially of all are the rumours that Danish reactionary ships now use Havenite ports to menace the newly formed Kingdom of Ostveg, and that in exchange revolutionary comrades in Raigestan have been allowed to continue to recieve arms and funds in their fight against Sikandara unmolested.

All of this is surely devious saboteur propaganda, designed to undermine our faith in the solidarity and brilliance of the Central Congress and the People's Assembly. We encourage our readers to pay no heed to such whisperings at this time, for, whilst our Steersman of State may be dead, many hands now hold the tiller, and will ensure we sail gloriously ever onwards towards the horizon of Communism.

NEW PROSPERITY STRATEGY ANNOUNCED, PROSPERO PLAN

Acting Premier Macclesfield has led a new iniatitive to kickstart the Spring Fiscal Quarter today by announcing what he has called the "New Prosperity Strategy" or Prospero Plan for short. Speaking to the gathered representatives of the nation's top hundred Co-operatives, the Acting Premier was keen to stress that this plan was not government intervention or an adoption of vanguardist economic policies, but rather an effort to give Co-operatives more capacity to innovate and direct their own commercial and financial interests.

"The New Prosperity Strategy calls for the creation of a Business Council, an advisory body made up of representatives from all co-operatives, elected by their employees to speak for the co-operative as a whole, which will then arbitrate on matters concerning enterprise, innovation, and community industry. It is not a Union. It is not a New Ministry or Government extension. It is the taming of the marketplace by council-led communism, in the very spirit of Clynes himself. The Business Council will not anwser to any one ministry, but to the people themselves. All we shall provide is government contracts, and reward timely and surplus delivery of national needs with additional surplus for luxuries to that co-operative's employees and families."

The Prospero Plan has attracted keen interest, in part because noone is quite sure what it entails. Although samples of the full 300 page document have been printed in official Party publications, how exactly this Council will operate is still not fully clear. Constitutionally, Acting Premier is able to propose this plan since it in theory does not constitute a use of government power or resources, but rather a suggestion made to community-led enterprises. The first act of this Council of Business representatives, it seems, will be to vote on wether it should itself in fact exist.

Although it may yet be a full month and more before Acting Premier Macclesfield may or may not be confirmed fully in his role by the People's Assembly, it is clear that the former Chairman fully intends to make the most of this interim period, and that more iniatitives are likely to come from his office, and the impromptu division of responsibilities to Premiers acting in purely Defensive, Foreign Affairs and Educational capacities may soon come to an end. Wether even a full confirmation will restore the Premiership as it was remains to be seen.

CHAOS IN THE ORIENT, RIOTS ROCK LIANGANG AND NIANXU

All travel permits to Yujin were suspended today, as news has filtered back of an ongoing crisis in the Imperial state. Long regarded as a problematic and archaic backwater of ancient feudalism, Yujin's modernising elements have come into direct conflict with its traditionalist structural impulses, and the people took to the streets of Liangang and Nianxu to protest. What happened next is unclear, but it is clear that the Imperial Army has begun crackdowns, and elements of the populace have retaliated, reportedly those with sympathise to the Hongmedhui, Yujin's revolutionary movement.

Whilst Yujin has long been considered an exotic, distant nation, whose connections to Havenshire have only been those forged for imperialist and merchantilist purposes, the People's Republic has nonetheless maintained the previously imperialist embassy in Yujin, and utilised it to organise much needed Aid Co-operative missions and non-governmental iniatitives to provide basic educational, medical and nutritional needs to the proletariat there.

The explosion of conflict in these cities has, however, forced many who subscribe to no political affiliation into a state of panic, and hundreds of refugees have flooded the embassies of a number of western embassies and consulates. The Parthavan and Carentanian Embassies have also accepted large numbers of those desperate to escape the violence, as we have, and have also been besieged for their kindness. Yes, Imperial troops have begun to cordon off the embassy quarter, and it is clear that they mean to threaten force, if necessary. The Foreign Ministry is in contact, but the Embassy itself is isolated and besieged, and too distant from the comrade embassies to be effective in reinforcing them or vice versa. Whilst no official government policy has yet been formulated for dealing with the ongoing situation in Yujin, Acting Premier-for-Foreign Affairs Alan Wilkes has agreed to utilise his authority and connections to attempt to bring about a peaceful settlement of this situation, and bring all our citizens and aid workers home.

Other alternatives, such as millitary intervention, are unlikely to be considered, as Yujin is too distant, and Havenshire lacks the naval might to project its force that far, at least, to do so alone. Wether a joint action by the Revolutionary States becomes necessary is unlikely at this juncture, but time will tell.

EMBASSY MASSACRED IN LIANGANG, YELLOW COWARDICE OF THE IMPERIALS

Yujin has shown that the legend of the barbaric Yujiman is more than mere racialist propaganda, but an ideal that the Imperial Army, whose only honour is atrocity, skulkingly lives down to. In act of brutality whose savagery was only matched by the cowardice that prompted such an unwarranted attack. Yesterday, the Imperial Army massacred the Embassy of Parthava, a good and true ally of the People's Republic, showing no remorse or respect for the Laws of Nations in their barbaric slaughter of all personnel within.

The People's Assembly is to hold an emergency convocation tonight, for the sole purpose of discussing and voting on the Yujin Embassy Crisis, and what is to be done about our personnel and their refugees, who are themselves now vulnerable to further assault by the Imperial Army. With the nearest friendly country hundreds of miles away, the best bet for the embassy lies with shameful, cringeing capitulation to the murderous brutes. Though such an act is a shameful descretation of national honour, and will likely involve giving up hundreds of innocent, loyal proletariat of Yujin race to the murderous hands of the Imperials, it is likely the only option to spare our Embassy staff at this time.

Acting Premier Macclesfield has declared his intention to meet as soon as possible with Premier Alan Sidorenko of Parthava and the Carentanian Commissariate to discuss tripartite negiotiations with the Empire of Yujin, with the intention of forcing the lifting of the siege of the remaining two embassies, and a demand for suitable reparations for the murder of the embassy staff and Parthavan citizens.
"I cannot promise that Parthava would not be in its rights to declare war even if reparations were guaranteed. But I can say that if our demands are not met, or Yujin chooses to continue to act in this manner, then we will have no choice but to consider the most grave of options."

The rest of the Central Congress is reportedly backing the Acting Premier unanimously, and have pledged to do "whatever is necessary" to aid in the safe return of the Embassy staff, and the protection of their charges.

In other news, Fascistoid violence has struck cruelly in Potenza, with cowards of a different kind planting a bomb and killing and injuring many civillians. This type of terrorism is deplorable whomever the victim, even if Potenza's own system of governance is barely less reactionary in tone. We extend our sympathies to the families of the victims.
