New budget unvailed!
The Federal Government has unvailed the Government Spedning Budget of this Fiscal Year. Defense has seen a rise of 2% at 9% of the total FGB, Healthcare and Education have both risen by 4 units at 14% and 15% and Welfare has risen by 1%. All other parts of the budget remain at the same level. The new Department of Oil and Natural Resources has seen its first budget become a record at 12% from day one. The recent oil surveys on the nation's coasts have given the government hope that with enough funding Karolnia's economy and GDP per capita might improve to respectable if not exemplary levels, contrary to the current levels which place the poor fishing and whaling nation near the regional bottom.

Oil Surveys near North and Northwest Coasts show promising results!
The recent oil Surveys have come back with positive results. According to them the North and Northwest coast might have even larger qunatities of oil than originally anticipated. The government however has calmed the populace down saying that while the finds are something to celebrate about they aren't even close to what is needed to export oil in profitable quantities, much less reboot the Karolnian economy. The government has however stated these finds may help in creating jobs and making Karolnia self-dependent, to a certain degree.

The Government of Belmont would be interested in assisting dialogue between Belmontien energy and mining companies and their Karolnian counterparts to encourage cooperation in this field.

However, we must point that the recent increase in defence spending is concerning. But the attention paid to the health and education portfolios is an encouraging sign.

While we are happy to hear of foreign interest in our economy we would like to keep the process of oil surveys in our waters to our own Department of Oil & Natural Resources. Once however we start renting out oil fields you will be the first we will notify, an act which could very well be followed by a trade agreement both in this field and the greater spectrum of our economies.

Concerning our funding, the slight increase in defense spending is nothing to worry about. It is simply needed as our outdated military is in a severe need of an overhawl. Our armed forces have never been our strongpoint and our pacifism and tranquil history are well known. We thank you for your compliments concerning our health and education portofolios.

New Oil & Gas surveys scheduled!
After the success of the recent oil surveys the Karolnian government has decided to launch yet another wave of surveys for oil and gas deposits in the North and Northwest of the country. The surveys are expected to take a month to complete their first wave while a second wave will take an aditional month. Analysts from Karolnia and all of Europe are confident that these surveys will produce positive results.

Karolnia orders cars from Eiffelland! Eiffellander car industry delegation in Kalaportti to discuss futher cooperation!
The Karolnian government has ordered two limousines for government VIP transport and hundreds of vehicles for the nation's various police forces. The two limousines are the same model used by the Eiffellander Royal Family and they will be used by the Keeper of Unity and the General Secretary. The police cars range from traffic police cars to city police cars and they will be used by the Federal Police Force and the Metropolitan Police Forces of the various cities of the nation. A delegation of the Eiffellander Car Industries has arrived in Kalaportti and is scheduled to meet with the Karolnian Secretary of Economics to discuss opening the Karolnian economy, which lacks a domestic car industry, to Eiffellander Automobiles. The Karolnian government has also inquired with the Ivernish Aerospace Industry about a Diplomatic Airplane, but has currently received no response.

National Anthem to replace or accompany prayer in all schools!
Following a vote by Parliament a new education law has passed with overwhelming majority, both the Government and the Communist Primary Opposition voted for it, according to which in all schools across te country the Morning Prayer will be replaced by the Karolnian National Anthem. Religious Private Schools might choose to sign a prayer after it and individual provinces may do so too, but from now on the National Anthem and not a religion specific prayer is mandatory in all schools. This move hopes to enchance unity in the nation, combat discrimination against religious minorities and address the long term concerns of the nation's Atheists and Agnostics, whoose numbers have shown a steady rise. "We believe that Karolnia's children should not have to pray to a god of somebody else's choice but should instead reinforce the unity of the Karolnian people. It should however be noted that the move is not of nationalist or fanatic character. Our children should not hold total obedience to any flag or state. we just intend to help them understand that which unites us is not our religious position but our common Fatherland." said the Secretary of Education in today's press conference.

Tourist reports alien monster attacking him! Police find baby squid attached to his leg!
A tourist who was visitng the city of Kivi, the Provincial Capital of the Luminen Ympyrä Saaret (Islands), called the Police to reqeest immediate assistance after a "massive crimson mosnter of alien origin attacked him". Police arrived on the scene in speed only to find a baby squid attached to the man's leg. The creature was not "sucking the blood" out of the man's leg but got attached to him in Kivi's fish market and stayed on the man for protection, probably scared of and not able to comprehend its surroundings. The squid was returned to the merchant-fisher originally selling it, who said he hadn't noticed he had captured a baby and released it back into the sea. Kivi is rumored to be the world's largest exporter of squid, and even if that many not be true, local residents describe the city as a Squidfest, especially during the currently ongoing Squid Festival.

Karolnia's children back to school in 9 days!
As every year school in Karolnia commences on the 12th of September. Karolnians return to the great cities of the nation from their rural cottages or their vacations abroad to find Karolnia filled with advertisments for school material and many are eager to see the new education reforms of the government at work, the National Anthem replacing the prayer being one of the most well accepted ones.

Karolnia purchases Diplomatic Plane from Ivernia!
The Federal Government of Karolnia has purchased a E-006 MacSweeney Airplane from the Ivernish Nemedia Aerospace Corporation to be used by the Federal State's Head of State, Government and other important officials. Payment has commenced immediately and the government is confident this plane will be crucial in strengthening Karolnian diplomatic presence across the world.

Karolnian economic agreement with Belmont!
Representatives of the Federal State of Karolnia and the Republic of Belmont signed an economic agreement which will aid the import of Karolnian fish and other seafood into Belmont in exchange for similar measures toward the import of Belmontian agricultural products into Karolnia. The moved comes after an escalation in tensions with Ivernia has created fish shortages for the Belmontian market, while in Karolnia's icy landscape grain and its products are always scarce and need to be imported.

Karolnian economic agreements with Eiffelland!
The Federal State of Karolnia and the Kingdom of Eiffelland agreed on a number of economic measures to improve trade between the two countries. The first of said agreements eases economic beardens on and promotes Eiffellander automobiles in the Karolnian market and in exchange Eiffelland will begin purchasing oil from Karolnia, as one of its many suppliers. Karolnia also purchased a number of aircraft to modernize the otherwise outdated Karolnian airforce and Eiffellander specialists have been hired to help modernize Karolnia's industry. Finally Eiffellander electronic products have seen similar measures to the Eiffellander automobiles and in exchange Karolnian seafood will receive similar treatment in Eiffelland.

The State of Saaremaa salutes its cultural and ethnic brothers from the westernmost provinces of Oriental Scania and stands supportive to its Finno-Ugric brothers from Karjolmaa. The Council of Ministers of Saaremaa wishes to strengthen its links with its cultural brothers in an atmosphere of peace and stability in Oriental Scania and in the lands around the Gothic Sea. For this, the Council congratulates the Federal State of Karjolmaa for working tirelessly with the Republic of Belmont and the Kingdom of Eiffelland to achieve this.

The State of Saaremaa understands the need of the Finno-Ugric peoples from Karjolmaa, Saaremaa and Uusriigi to stand together. The Finno-Ugric languages and cultures are unique in this world and it is our duty to see them continue to exist and blossom many generations after our death. For this, we propose for our three countries to create a cultural institute that will work continuously to develop our cultures even more and will also create a bridge for more cooperative enterprises between our countries. It it imperative that the Finno-Ugrics stand united in this world so chaotic.
