Stripes or hatching could a possibility. I had been thinking of it myself. For instance, my country could be striped yellow (for LFS) and the Germanian League colour. Extra letters would be a bit cluttering.

I also had thought of stripes as being the best way, but I don't know the technical details of whether or not that is possible.

Absolutely excellent map, and otherwise, exactly as Ziv said.

So no matter what I did, you had already decided to remove me from the map.

If you're willing to work with me, I can get you re-added to the map, hopefully you can keep increased activity and are happy with the slight change. The new plot 221 would be a little large independently given the size of its neighbors, so if you'd like...

I can split the peninsula into two smaller plots, give you the one of your choice, and still create a new area in the "Europe" region for new people to join.

If you have an idea for the shape of the plot you'd like to be given, feel free to PM me a photoshop/paint image of it and I can work with that.

To be honest, you were removed about 1.5 months ago and the area you inhabited was changed. You decided to return with activity but the area had already been altered. So I could not place you there without consulting you first and frankly, this map isn't even finished. You'll note several requests hadn't been fulfilled and I hadn't added the new color coding that I wanted to implement. (It would've been varieties of beige for those who are curious.)

Well, I know IC wise we are what they call frenemies but OOC I don't have any issue with you but, I must say that you hardly RP and instances where you do are motivated by the fact that you have been put on the Inactivity Hit List. I'm looking forward to seeing you back on the map but I must say that you can't expect to go around wagging your finger at the mapmaker if you yourself aren't particular enough to just say in the Absence Thread that you won't be around for a while.

I had the same sort of issue with Taley, whose war with Jurzan was motivated solely by his OOC desire to have his spot as it was before Coro modified it. If you guys won't be around just say so in the Absence Thread, it exists for a reason.

@Wing Sing: Keep it up. I like it. So where was the map making tutorial? Been wanting to update my own map.

Nice map update, but a few concerns:

the secondary cities other than the capitals...that was a beautiful and helpful addition to the previous maps. Was it a mistake, are they coming back?

The red dots are a little large and the colour does not agree with me. They look like nuclear hit list targets.

The overall colour is very dark/coffee stained. Just my opinion, but I would prefer a lighter shade.

Windhoek Island and Maarten Island of mine are no longer labelled. That would be nice :)

Yeah, the secondary cities are really needed imho. Also, the territory next to Aryana has not been named and Transpurgistan was purged from the map. The territory to the east to the Principality of the West could also be tagged as OIK, please. Oh, and readd the Lanur Free State. Also I think that the West and Himyar should be connected.

I like the red dots though. Coloring wise, I also have to agree with Drei. To be honest, I thought the last coloring scheme was the best we had yet (obviously there could have been some color improvements and such, but the overall 'feel' was right).

Yes I see that this map was clearly designed with the idea of less clutter.

But I think it's more important to have more information than less clutter.

I am still a proponent of bringing coro back to the negotiating table because his maps were pretty much exact what we wanted and his demands were quite reasonable.

Sinhai is a cool dude though.

edit: Also I approve of the strait but it kind of mucks up an RP that Guiana had going for some kind of canal thing.

Thank you, Sinhai, for the timely answer. I am, however, not satisfied :) The introduction of secondary cities about a year ago was a major, welcomed and positive development and has become important for RP. No one looks at wikified maps or linked maps when cities are referred to in news posts. The NC, for example, is headquartered in Hilversum. Where is Hilversum? Oh, I can look at the map, oh, wait...

See what I mean? And that goes for a lot of places. It really wasn't cluttered at all and I think many would agree with me that it looked good. If there is high enough demand and you have the ability to do it (and I think you do), please bring the cities back. They were great.

@Batavie I'll look at getting secondary cities back onto the map in the next update, then. I want to avoid making the area overly crowded, though, while also preserving quality (namely in text clarity) for the major stuff, as well as the minor stuff. (I don't want minor city text to be so small that it's essentially a blur) Also, sorry about not labeling the islands, a few small things like that have been missed for other people as well and will be added.

@Xen Please shoot me an image of the way you envision the Empire and I'll do my best to replicate it exactly. Also, was trying something new with the color, something a bit cleaner. I'd like to get a cooperative thread going on to generalize where grassland, mountains, deserts, and arctic regions are located in every country so I can redo a colored map with those areas visually represented. Actually, Ill work on a thread to that end this weekend.

@Wing Sing Coro can have his position back at any time, I will by no means prevent the experienced map maker from it if that's what he wants.

Also I think that the West and Himyar should be connected.

This.

Making a strait between Boreas and Himyar, I don't think anyone even wanted this change. It just creates an 'America' continent, and thereby provides an analogous territory for any random cunt to idolize. Let's get rid of it.

It hardly creates an 'America.' That little strait there does nothing to separate the continent in the way that the two oceans separate America from Eurasia-Africa.
