NEWS LEVEL: RED (Villanueva) A 6.7 magnitude earthquake has hit western mainland Ebria, with the epicentre 15 kilometres inland from the city of Villanueva, at a depth of 35 kilometres. There have been reports of casualties, collapsed buildings and damage to the infrastructure, with the surrounding area losing electricity. The authorities have activated plan red of intervention to ensure that a sufficient number of medics, firemen and policemen come to the aid of the population. (Tibur) Secular authorities have arrested Cardinal ZuanGiacomo Marcato, the Prefect of the Dicastry for the Doctrine of Faith, (more commonly called the Holy Inquisition), at his private palazzo near Lake Cuomo. He has allegedly been using Papal Indulgences to pay off bribes in multiple countries and to launder money. This controversial system allows rich Catholics to give unlimited sums of money to the Holy See in exchange for advanced absolution of sins. The Radilan native is also has suspected ties to the Camorra and other multi-natuonal criminal organizations. It is alleged that much of this has been papered over in recent years do to His Eminence's power, as he is often seen as the Church's second-in-command after the Holy Father. Marcato is a close ally of Pope John Joseph, who has not yet commented on the arrest.
