I second Potenza's nomination, and suggest the Licorice Sea in honor of Garth.

Seriously, if the name "Great" Sea describes the legacy of classic - I seriously fear for your sanity.

I support the renaming of the Bay of Sindh.

As for Boreas, calling it Santander brings me out in a cold sweat, instantly reminding me of that very famous Spanish banking chain.... :think:

EDIT: Also the Long Sea is deserving of a change. It is too bland a name.

I do find the renaming of the Bay of Sindh to be odd, tbh. As it was agreed upon less than a year ago to reflect Vangala... yeah? It used to be the Vostok when I was mapmaking. :/

We already have a Vangala Bay, aside from a Bay of Sindh. My own opinion is the Sindh should take a Slavic name given there are 3-4 Slav nations around it and there's no large-scale Slav sea/ocean (unless I'm missing something), but I'll go with the flow on it.

3 people nominated Boreas, and 3 people nominated the Sindh. Perhaps less for the Sindh because two players also discussed Scania and Boreas instead of nominating just one. If Danmark's nomination is split in two, then it's 2.5 for the Sindh and 3.5 for Boreas.

With that confusing rationale, this nomination has chosen Boreas.

Naming Convention :: Boreas Continent

Second Naming Convention
"The Continent of Boreas"

In an effort to improve our map, the game, and the relationship between players and the aforementioned: we have decided to begin holding naming conventions for bodies of water, land mass, and perhaps even some natural wonders to behold.

The second convention is held for "The Continent of Boreas". No nation that was on this continent when it was named Boreas still exists today, and the new residents have expressed their want for re-naming this continent through nomination for this convention.

In this thread you can discuss your alternatives for renaming Boreas, with which a poll will be assembled on late Saturday or Sunday to decide.

Oddly enough I was always mispronouncing the continent beforehand. I kept calling it Borås — "Boros". Anyhow I would like to ponder the question, is the western continent a continent, or are they continents much like the real world Americas? I've been rolling with the idea that they are indeed two, and thus been referring to them as Zulia and Santander.

I've always wanted to see a continent named after a Saint/Martyr, but that might depend on who discovered your continent. The discovering cultures might choose different Saints. Some golden legend saints produce decent names: Auxerria or Chrysanthia. I like Chrysanthia, but I'll probably vote for someone else's nomination to help put one over, so we don't have another three way tie.

I'm not touting for any alternatives or settling for any, but two to throw into the ring that caught my eye:

Zephyra (Greek)
Mendebal (Basque)
