There were only a few nominations this time, so all have been used in the poll ^

We seem to be getting a little better at this, Jade Sea has a three vote edge with two hours left.

Naming Convention :: Eurodisney

It's been awhile since we've conducted such a convention or poll, but I noticed that there was a debate as to the title of the continent popularly referred to as Eurodisney OOC, and "???" IC.

The next three days will be used for nominations, three days of debate, and then one day to vote. All in all one week for people to have their say.

I suppose I will make the two nominations as established by RP: Gallia-Germania, already widely in use and taken after the real-life European regions as named by the Romans, and Preuti-Borussia, as popularised by Engellex, with 'Preuti' not being something I am familiar with and 'Borussia' being the Latin word for 'Prussia'.

I'll come up with a single-word name too as well, if I can. I'd choose a good single-word name over any composite.

Preuti-Borussia.

As Gallia-Germania is not only incredibly unoriginal, but causes me to cringe so much that I couldn't face it on the map.

I wasn't aware it was Latin for Prussia, as I don't know Latin.

Still, it holds better than Germania by far.

I've been using Mercia as the name for the Western Parts. I've been flirting with the idea of calling the Eastern part, Lotharingia or Karolingia. Thus Mercia-Lotharingia or something.

Why can't we just name it "Eurodisney"?

I mean, Disney does not exist ICly, it wouldn't really mean anything ICly to anyone, not anymore sillier than Borussia (since Prussia doesn't exist ICly anyway). So the only reason would be because it might sound silly OOCly.

But let us think ICly for once and just adopt Eurodisney! :D

If the preference is on two words: Neustrasia and Austrasia.

Definitions:
Neustrasia - "new [western] land"
Austrasia - "eastern land"

If one word: Burgundia.

Latin for Burgundy.

The Islamic Republic of the Jurzan, representing nearly 40 million people, united by flag and God, formally votes for Eurodisney.

Out of the two, Neustrasia is more preferable to me but my own understanding is that it would be a bad nomenclature as Eurodisney is quintessentially old-guard. Maybe a name encapsulating the oldness would be better...

Burgundy would be bad as it reminds me too much of the player Q who once played Burgundy the nation.

My ultimate preference is for Lotharingia of the ones mentioned so far..

I find Lotharingia or Burgundia as the best to represent the region and between the two I would like Lotharingia more, as it was exactly the region between East Francia (Germany) and West Francia (France).

After this, can we rename the Sindh?:p

Do we really -need- a universal name for the continent, especially one thats so Germanocentric/unrepresentative of the other ethnicities in the Eurozone?

I personally think Havenshire will continue to use the name Gallia-Germania, or, failing that, Westzone One, for the entire continental region.

In fact, yes, Westzone One, with WestZone Two being Occidentia, EastZone One being Sarmatia, EastZone Two being Toyou and Southzone One being Cantignia.

Himyar can be EastZone One, Two and Three.
