TBH I consider that a wrongful addition to the map and the "frozen" effect should be removed. If north Himyar is desert, and south Himyar is jungle, then the sea below it should be, too.
I see it as a pole. South Africa has plenty of forests and a wide array of wild life. The same can be said for Argentina. Yet if you go south of both of those countries, it gets freaking cold.

But why should south Himyar be jungle?
This too. I believe the map as is, doesn't suggest it as Jungle. Kapi stop watching the Jungle Book on youtube. I know you are...

It's south of a desert, therefore it's natural to assume that it's hot there too, if north of that desert there is a Mediterranean climate, LOL.

Deserts aren't always hot... I mean the Antarctic and Arctic represent the majority of the worlds deserts. Anyways... to not troll. Couldn't the area to the south of the desert be more parallel to a savannah than to a jungle? I mean, look at Australia's climate. Around the desert is "grassland" and to the south is temperate?

I assumed it's supposed to be analogous to Africa. South of the Sahara desert are like Congo jungles and stuff.

Well I think the southwestern part of Himyar is jungle but it wouldn't be unreasonable for some of southern Himyar jungle-free. I personally imagined Zanj having some jungle, but not being entirely covered.

Perhaps the south continent should be expanded to include a 'horn' much like RL africa, with a little distance between that and the arctic region?

I don't see any need for an expansion. You can freely RP anywhere on the southern coast and ignore the frozen shit on the map, just assume it's tropical or at least "hot" waters (as opposed to "cold" like the North Sea).

I always imagined the southern edge of Himyar to be rather temperate and the southern seas to be like the North Sea - and Himyar to have some sort of climate barrier that's blocking out the cold temperatures to the south to allow for the regions around Dagomba, Radilo etc. to reach tropical climates.

But in the end, it all seems to boil down to the old question of where exactly our equator lies. Personally, I think that it works just fine as it is currently indicated on our map, many western and eastern nations along the equatorial line play as tropical nations and I consider a pseudo-scientific explanation with cold sea currents and dry winds from the Himyari desert enough to explain how central Europe features just mediterranean climate. But I know not everyone agrees with me here.

Why would that be necessary? This isn't the Earth. Every RPer with territory on the southern coast has RPd tropical or at least generically "hot" climates. Go figure.

Well, African nations can just as well claim Dagomba's spot. Not that I am ever gonna find the time to RP that nation anyway.

Funny, even RL South America and Africa are like that... and wut? The water south of those bodies of land is cold? ZOMG!? Just because the water there is cold, doesn't mean the land is in the summer. Like I've already pointed out with the RL basis.

Looking on a strictly geographical basis, there is no way for a warm current to come in and warm the water. Just doesn't make sense. Don't blame me, blame Q for making a continent that prevents a warm current from getting down there. Problem? There are plenty of locations around the map that don't have the "cold water" problem. If surfing matters that much to you then wear a damn dry suit.

I take claim to being a Mediterranean, but I don't mention climate all that much

The shit are you talking about? You put an arctic sea there, do you see icebergs off the Cape of Good Hope? Nor is it only about the summer, the winter would obviously not be grim and frostbitten in Himyar anywhere, except the highest mountains. The climate on the whole continent is by default hot, that is, in the vast majority of places it never freezes and never even goes below 10 degrees celsius even in the dead of "winter". So basically you need to remove the ice effect pronto because it just doesn't make any sense and is confusing new players to boot.

When I use dark orange, this means that Camel Country is behind what I am saying.
