President Nadal is to attend a summit in Villesen, the summit is expected to include discussions about increased foreign investment in Borovangers agricultural sector. President Esteban Sotelo signs historic Friendship Treaty with Serenierre

Today President of the Confederation of Borovanger signed a treaty of Treaty of Harmony and Good-Neighbourliness alongside the Premier of Serenierre Elisabeth Martinique. This historic treaty contains a non-aggression pact with Serenierre and also guarantees to maintain Borovangers neutrality, in addition this new treaty also promises freedom of movement between the two countries. President Sotelo stated " there can exist no borders between the people of Borovanger and Serenierre our two great nations are united in friendship and as friends we must welcome one another into our respective nations ". The Government of Serenierre has also gifted the Confederation three billion francs to assist with Borovangers development. The treaty also involves the strengthening of economic ties between our two nations with the creation a bilateral agreement to cooperate on tariffs and customs which further enhances economic treaties in place since the 1980's.

Albacente Frauds Exposed

It has recently come to light thanks to the work of the journalist of El Heraldo that several leading members of the regional assembly of Albacente have been defrauding the Confederations government to the tune of close to 40 million Francs over the course of five years. Ostensibly the money was meant to be used to improve local infrastructure and to boost the regional economy when instead it was siphoned off into the bank accounts of the fraudsters.

In response to this massive fraud the politicians in questions have been stood down pending further investigation by the Confederal authorities, however at this stage the politicians in question may only be the tip of the iceberg. The Head of the Le Front Bourguignon Hugo Deat has publicly distanced himself from the fraudsters claiming" these criminals do not represent the party and we will assist the authorities in their investigation".

Marxist Extremists Attack Church ahead of Christmas

Extremists belonging to the anti-revisionist Sepakov Berbadjev Brigaden have attacked the Cathedral of Saint Goratrix in Treviso, the extremists opened fire on parishioners as they left the cathedral killing twenty and leaving close to a hundred injured. Guardia Nationale units were quickly mobilized and in the ensuing firefight several of the extremists were killed. At this stage there is little detail regarding the identities of those wounded and killed. Governor Julian Durriti has called for calm and for members of the public "to remain in their homes "until the situation is deemed under control". Elements of the Confederations army have been posted to Treviso and churches and other key building are being placed on high alert.

La liga republicana criticizes government over security cuts

Maria Gonzales leader of La liga republicana has publicly criticized the Confederations governments policy of reducing funding to the state security services, claiming that it was this reduction in funds and manpower was in part responsible for the the attack in Treviso. Naturally her comments have drawn criticism from across the across society with Jerome Cuervo leader of the Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire called Gonzales's " irresponsible and divisive in a time were the nation needs unity".

Gonzales has also called for increased centralization of the police forces declaring " the provincial and con-federal police are failing to communicate and seem intent on pursuing their own goals rather than serving the public what is needed no more then ever is a single police force for the whole nation".

. tensions continue to grow in Crotobaltislavonia. President Sotelo has remained silent on this issue saying only " the Confederation is committed to peace and show the situation call for it we shall administer humanitarian aid".

Latest Polls indicate Syndicalist surge

the latest El Heraldo Albacente election poll appear to show the Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire making significant gains against the lleading parties, although of course the election is far from over and a lot can change in politics in a short time these latest results seem to show that the people of Albacente are reluctant to return to the status quo. La liga Republicana has also made substantial gains in polls showing them ahead of Le Front Bourguignon and the Partido Demócrata Carmesí.

The country continues to exist in a state of emergency following the Treviso attack.although several arrests have been made in connection with the attack the government has not as yet released any information regarding the those under arrest.

Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire wins historic victory in Albacente.

the results of the snap election following the scandal engulfing the Albacente regional government the Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire have managed to secure a majority of the regions votes. The Liga Republica gained the second most votes with the Partido Demócrata Carmesí and Le Front Bourguignon trailing behind. The Le Front Bourguignon had previously held the region of Albacente virtually uncontested since the conception of the Confederation, it remains to be seen if the party can recover from this shocking defeat. Jerome Cuervo leader of the ASA has said" today is a momentous occasion for the people of Albacente and all of Borovanger, we have shown that the people desire a better future and that when the people are united anything is possible". Representatives of the other parties have made statements conceding the election and congratulating the ASA.

Albacente to " Syndicalize" regional economy
President of the Albacente Regional Assembly Henri de Leon has announced his plan to radically reform the economy of Albacente by allowing several state run enterprises to be run by syndicates made of local workers. de Leon states " we wish to strengthen the people of Albacente and return the power the people for our region". The Presidents statement have caused controversy with some like the Liga Republica member Hugo Blanqui " these anarchists would over see the dismantling of the regional government and the ruination of the regional economy". However several of the nations largest trade unions have expressed support for de Leon's economic policy.

. Confederal Government to send aid to Trivodnia. " we must not forsake our brothers in Trivodnia and Crotobaltislavonia in the spirit of international brotherhood we must give aid to those in need. " says Foreign Minister Father Augustine Mera.

Proposed Ortegist march draws condemnation.
the fascist organization Restauración Nacional has announced that they will be commemorating the death of the Grand-Duke Ortega by marching this Sunday through the capital of Saulot ,the Grand-Duke died in 1958 as an exile in Geotri following the Royalists defeat in the Borovangen civil war. Restauración Nacional was founded in 1978 by former members of then banned Comité Nacional de Salvación. Restauración Nacional was subsequently categorized as a subversive organization and was proscribed from standing in national and local elections. The Restauración Nacional continued to exist on the political fringe but had little to no influence on the country's political landscape until its ban on standing for office was lifted in 1995, however since then the Restauración Nacional has yet to win a single campaign.

In recent years the organization has seen an up surge in support, emboldening them to begin taking a more active role in Borovangen politics.

The battle of Cabello Street
Ortegist and anti-fascist protesters have violently clashed in the capital, despite the best efforts of the police the two rival marches descended into violence, fortunately although many have been injured in these clashes there have as yet been no fatalities. First Minister Esteban Sotelo has publicly spoken out against the violence" while we must be ever vigilant against the forces of tyranny and oppression we must not sink to their level, we must maintain the moral high ground lest our country again see the violence of the past". however many have criticized the First Ministers lackluster speech claiming that he needed to strongly condemn the Restauración Nacional and other reactionary elements.

Several leading members of the Restauración Nacional have been arrested and charged with disturbing the peace along with other related offenses, so far none of the counter-protesters have been arrested with some in the Restauración Nacional claiming that the police allowed the counter protesters to attack them.

Prominent Fascist dies in Police custody.

Richardo Panza one of Restauración Nacional's leading lights has died while in police custody following the Sundays march in Saulot, the Saulot police have not yet released any cause of death only that stating in a press conference that Panza had died in custody and that a inquiry would be launched . A lawyer speaking for the Restauración Nacional called the Saulot police " a corrupt band of thugs seeking to silence anyone who seeks to challenge the status quo of the nation and to fight those in power". Several of Restauración Nacional's continue to be held in police custody having been charged with numerous offences from assault with a deadly weapon to disturbing the peace.

Youth unemployment and crime on the rise.

Statistics released today by the Ministry of the Economy shows a rising trend of unemployment and anti social behavior among the nations youth, with the chief cause seeming to be a lack of entry level jobs. First Minister Esteban Sotelo has declared in a press statement " the Confederations government will be doing its upmost to combat the rise of unemployment and its effects on society". However the oppositions parties were quick to mention how this rise in unemployment occurred begun during First Minister Sotelo's term with Jerome Cuervo of the ASA stating " we see again how the Partido Demócrata Carmesí's tired economic policies continue to fail the people of Borovanger while the Syndicalisation of industries in Albacente continues to demonstrate the potential of other economic theories". Leader of the La Liga Republicana Maria Gonzales has condemned the lackluster approach the government has taken to the issue calling for a radical change to the current welfare program "what we see here are the problems endemic to the confederation, neither regional nor confederal authorities appear willingly or able to solve the issue of youth unemployment and delinquency. Those unemployed and anti-social elements of society should be enlisted in state sponsored organisations that will be able to reforge them into productive members of society".

Critics of La Liga's policy state that conscription of any Borovangen citizen would be unconstitutional in a time of peace doubley so as many of those affected would be minors, others cite the plans similarity to the various royalist movements of the 1920's such as the Liga de Jóvenes Patriotas ( League of Young Patriots) many of whom would in later years support Grand-Duke Ortega in the Borovangen Civil War.

An end to neutrality?

recent comments by the leaders of the Liga Republica and Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire regarding Borovanger's longtime policy of neutrality have lead to speculation that should either of these parties emerge victorious in the coming elections then Borovanger could begin to take a more proactive stance in world affairs. However such a move would warrant a amendment to the Confederation's constitution which explicitly states that Borovanger would " the Confederation's government must remain neutral in foreign affairs and unbiased towards all parties seeking to act for the good of the Borovangen people".

Political analyst Armando Gomez has stated in a seminar in Saulot University " depending of course on who wins the election Borovanger could move in two radical directions, it is entirely probable that if the Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire won we could see them reach out to other Radical socialist and Prometheist nations across the globe. Another possibility is a ASA government seeking to spread sydicalism in Gallia-germania by reaching out to various trade unions".

"However if La Liga Republica were to win I would not be surprised to see the Confederation petition to join the Rurikgrad Pact or even the Trier accord , La Liga is anything if not pragmatic when it comes to advancing the nations interests. But if the past is any indication La Liga would begin to push for greater rearmament and make further amendments to the constitution. Of course all speculation is essentially meaningless after all the current government may in fact win and the status quo would continue".
