The Grand Assembly of the Republic has summoned the Potenzan Ambassador currently resident in Nkalamenga to explain the recent actions of his government. Ivernish AME YB-49 Banshee crash lands in K.P.N.R.

A AME YB-49 Banshee Jet Bomber has crashed landed into Kyiv sovereign territory which seemed to originate from coastal town of Portsiar in Eastern Ivernia. Reports have stated that there were no survivors.

The AME YB-49 Banshee is a recent development from the Aodh-Mór Corporation and is a Jet Bomber designed to attack long range target and to compete with advancements in AA and fighter plane technology.

There have been recent reports of the plane - with it's distinctive one-wing shape to be doing fly-bys of the Illmen Strait, the sea between Ivernia, Kyiv and Franken to the south.

It is believed that the heavy fog and strong winds last night might have contributed to the cause of the crash.

The Ivernish Senate has not commented on the reports of fly-by's however has replied that ''The crash was caused from poor weather conditions on a routine ferry of a vehicle from the Ivernish Royal Air Corps. The aerojet in question is the property of the High Kingdom of Ivernia and this Senate wishes for a return of all parts of the aerojet, and most importantly the return of the bodies to Ivernia.''

KNRR Delays "Red Shield" Military Exercises

STARI LADOGA (Reuters) - The War Commissariat has confirmed that the annual Red Shield military exercises has been temporarily postponed because of the recent air crash. The annual Red Shield exercises are the capstone of the Peoples Revolutionary Insurrectionary Armies annual training cycle and bring together active and reserve personnel from every branch for two weeks of large scale maneuvers and live fire drills. Red Shield LIII will be occurring in Korela Isthmus and will reportedly center around halting and counter-attacking an imagined invasion by land and sea across the isthmus towards Stari Ladoga. Notably this years exercises were to feature an ambitious simulated beach-landing involving a combined arms force of Airborne and Naval infantry.

Red Shield, in addition to it's training role, is arguably the most visible demonstration of the KNNR's military muscle during peacetime. Both the location and scenario are widely interpreted as signalling what the KNRR perceives to be the biggest threat. This years exercises, just a stones throw away from Saarema, seem particularly blatant. Coming on the heels of unprecedented remarks by a senior NRPA officer about the "existential threat" of Mezhism some foreign policy experts believe this may signal the KNRR is getting ready to move beyond rhetoric when it comes to the Stratocratic Revolution. Other analysts however believe the exercises are a carefully calibrated warning-shot, the KNRR they say is willing to live with the "Mezhists next door" provided they do not attempt to link-up with other far right states. The decision to postpone the exercises are taken advocates of the later position as evidence of this, holding Red Shield well also trying to navigate a new crisis with Ivernia would in this view project an overly aggressive stance.

Neither civil or military officials were able to provide a firm date for the new start of Red Shield. But all were adamant the exercises would continue as planned at a more appropriate date.

Vangala promises elections by end of year

SHAHDARA (Reuters) - The Revolutionary Command Council, the supreme governing body of Vangala that combines the country's military and political elite, has announced its disbandment and promised to hold elections by the end of the traditional Vangalan calendar - next April. The announcement was earlier than expected by analysts, who suspected the Communist regime would wait for a more comprehensive end to the conflict with Yujin and resolve tensions with its other neighbour Sikandara.

Some observers have interpreted the decision as a display of confidence by the Communist leadership, who are convinced in the security of their ruling position. Others suggest the move was the result of pressure by Carentania and Havenshire, who wanted political reform in return for development and military aid.

However, the vote will be seen as illegitimate by many countries. The Vangalan government-in-exile is still recognised by most countries as the official representative of the Vangalan people, despite no significant presence inside Vangala. The constitutionally provisioned restrictions on the eligibility of candidates, with only members of the United Motherland Front, the Communist regime's umbrella movement, permitted to compete in national elections, have already been criticised by foreign governments.

Crackdown on prostitution in Vangala

SHAHDARA (Reuters) - Communist authorities in the People's Republic of Vangala have launched a nation-wide campaign against prostitution. Prostitution is rife in Vangala's major cities, with hundreds of thousands of women having fled to urban centres to escape violence and lack of economic opportunities in rural areas. A number of more liberal local People's Committees have permitted the establishment of brothels and allowed sex workers to organise. However, the policies of Vangala's central government are likely to prevail.

Before the start of the crackdown on prostitution, the National Union of Pleasure-Workers, a collective of sex workers, had already been denied affiliation to the Democratic Federation of Trade Unions, Vangala's trade union centre and member of the United Motherland Front. Under labour provisions in the Vangalan Constitution, workers unions not affiliated to the Democratic Federation of Trade Unions are barred from operating, although in this case the National Union of Pleasure-Workers could assemble freely in most places.

The anti-prostitution campaign was announced in an editorial in today's edition of People's Voice, the official publication of the Vangalan Workers and Peasants Party. The editorial condemned prostitution as a capitalist industry that commodifies sex and women, and linked the profession to wider social disruption. The campaign against prostitution has largely been framed in the terms of women's liberation, with Anti-Sexism recently added to the "Great Anti-s" in a propaganda pamphlet of the Workers and Peasants Party, the other "Great Anti-s" being Anti-Capitalism, Anti-Feudalism, Anti-Imperialism and Anti-Militarism.

Women played an instrumental role in the Vangalan Revolution, often co-ordinating resistance in the villages and harbouring revolutionaries. The Vangalan People's Armed Forces permits the deployment of female soldiers in combat roles, and many served with distinction in the recent conflict with Yujin. The Vangalan Workers and Peasants Party has implemented a number of women-friendly policies, including banning polygamy, decriminalising abortion and applying gender quotas in certain fields. Vangalan society is traditionally matriarchal, with mothers considered head of the household.

Yujin Communists Crushed at Qi River, Battle for Liangang Begins

NOKANAWA (Reuters) - Hongmenghui military forces in the Liangang military region have suffered a major defeat at the hands of Yujiner loyalist General Sun Daoshi and his Southern Expeditionary Army, a force of two hundred and fifty thousand elite troops and a sizable armored contingent, as the Imperial forces launched a massive offensive earlier this morning. Casualties rates for the Hongmenghui forces spiraled in excess of 90,000 in the first day of combat alone as a failure in Communist leadership to issue orders to retreat lead to many units being cut off, surrounded, and destroyed. Reports that many surrendering units were eliminated could not be independently verified.

With the Communist offensive into Seora making inroads into the tributary state of the Yujin Emperor and as such diverting men from their war with the Imperial government, the number of casualties inflicted in the opening day of the Operation can be seen as a significant sign of Communist weaknesses on their own western front. With a total force estimated to have numbered around 400,000, the initial casualty rates are staggering. Reserve Communist forces are said to be fortifying the city of Liangang in preparation for a prolonged pitched urban battle, where Hongmenghui commanders hope to nullify the Imperial advantage in armor. Some analysts expect that Hongmenghui military forces represent a small chunk of the total manpower of the organization, but exact numbers pertaining to the size of the Hongmenghui are impossible to come by.

The Emperor of Yujin previously turned down a Carentanian peace offer demanding the secession of Liangang as an independent political entity, notoriously threatening to remove the city from the world by fire. It appears as though forces loyal to the Emperor seek to make good on that threat. The city of Liangang, formerly the largest port city in Yujin, has become a focal point in the Yujin Civil War, being the origin of the conflict between the Hongmenghui and Imperial forces, and becoming the administrative center of the Hongmenghui.

KNRR Releases Details on Crash Investigation

KYIV (Reuters) - Investigators from the Peoples Revolutionary Insurrectionary Army revealed today details of their ongoing investigation into the crash of Ivenian aircraft in the KNRR. For the first time official Kyivan sources confirmed Ivernian reports that the downed aircraft was an Ivernian YB-49, but declined to comment on the cause of the crash. According to the military investigators are still examining the evidence to determine if there was any "hostile intent" behind the aircraft's foray into Rusian airspace and that this was the top priority of the investigation. Examination of the wreckage has confirmed that the aircraft was unarmed when it crashed and there is "no indication" it jettisoned a payload of any kind prior to the crash.

Diplomats meanwhile have acknowledged they are awaiting a formal report from the military on the crash before officially raising the issue with the Ivernian government. In the interim number of Councillors in the Central Soviet have for the KNRR to impose diplomatic or economic sanctions against Ivernia in retaliation for its "flagrant violation of the Peoples sovereignty". The Sovnarkom has only said it is considering all options and it would be communicating the severity of the incident to the Ivernian government.

Vangalan authorities prohibit meat consumption

SHAHDARA (Reuters) - The People's Republic of Vangala has reportedly banned the consumption of meat and the rearing of animals for slaughter in order to cope with the growing hunger crisis, redirecting the use of agricultural land for edible crops only. Fish and other seafood are believed to be excluded from these restrictions. Sources within the People's Republic of Vangala tell Reuters International News Agency the measures were announced in yesterday's edition of People's Voice, the official publication of the Vangalan Workers and Peasants Party, in which meat-eating was condemned as a barbaric cultural practice and animal-farming an inefficient use of resources.

Reuters has attempted to contact officials within the Communist regime to confirm reports, but has repeatedly been refused. Reuters, together with Associated Press and a number of other foreign news organisations, have recently been barred from operating in Vangala after allegations of attempted bribery of state representatives. Reuters and the other news agencies strongly deny any wrongdoing.

If the reports are proven true, it will be the first case of government-mandated vegetarianism. Vangala has a strong cultural tradition of vegetarianism, with many strands of two of the dominant religions, Buddhism and Hinduism, advocating abstention from meat consumption. Islam, the other main religion in Vangala, meanwhile has strong dietary requirements. However, lamb is often slaughtered and consumed at times of celebration.

Carentanian Mission to Antarctica Enroute Back Home

RIJEKA (Reuters) - The Carentanian destroyer "Sufragette", which had been dispatched to the antarctican continent to contest Aurarian and Ivernian claims to the landmass, has turned around and is on its way home. Unbiased informations are hard to come by, the official version states that Revolutionary Navy Infantry had made landfall and met with Aurarian scientists, whom it handed an official message "extending friendship and sympathy to the Aurarian scientists, but warning their government against imperialist endavours". Furthermore, the Aurarian scientists were handed presents wrapped in a Carentanian flag, including several bottles of wine, the Commissariate for Foreign Affairs state.

However, sources within the Carentanian government indicate that the mission was plagued by several problems resulting from the harsh climate and poor planning due to the hasty deployment of the destroyer. Supposedly, all soldiers who had participated in the landing party sustained frostbite and had to be hospitalized, while the presents brought to the Aurarian scientists were rendered unusable by the cold temperatures and the harsh winds.

The Carentanian government insists that it has sent a strong signal against imperialism on the antarctican continent and considers the mission a success.

Doubts emerge over forthcoming Vangalan elections

SHAHDARA (Reuters) - International observers have raised concerns over the fairness of forthcoming elections in the People's Republic of Vangala after the recently-instituted National Electoral Commission yesterday detailed the full extent of candidacy and voting regulations. A date for the elections, which will be for local and national legislatures as well as for the Presidency, has yet to be announced by the National Electoral Commission, and many believe it will be soon after the end of the monsoon season. Vangala's revolutionary elite had promised elections would be held by the end of the traditional Vangalan year following the expulsion of Yujiner forces from Vangalan territory. Vangalan New Year is celebrated mid-April.

Outside monitors of the elections have been welcomed by the Communist regime, but so far only ones from other socialist nations have been confirmed as attending. A number of foreign media outlets, including Reuters International News Agency, have been banned from operating in the People's Republic following allegations of bribery. All accused deny any wrongdoing.

Candidates in national elections are required to be members of a movement affiliated to the United Motherland Front, an umbrella organisation led by the ruling Vangalan Workers and Peasants Party. However, independent candidates are allowed to participate in local elections. Jadugopal Basu, current President, is presently the only nominated candidate for the Presidential elections.

The former government of Vangala, currently housed in the Sikandari capital Shahdara, has denounced the elections as a "propaganda exercise" and released an alternative constitution yesterday. A number of foreign powers have also been critical of the electoral process in Vangala, and have demanded reforms. The National Electoral Commission has maintained the restrictions prevent external interference in the elections and ensure stability in the otherwise war-ravaged country.

Potenzan missionaries imprisoned for proselytising

SHAHDARA (Reuters) - A humanitarian mission of the Potenzan Reformed Church has been detained by the Communist authorities in Vangala for allegedly attempting to convert local tribes people. Proselytising is forbidden under Vangalan socialist law, and many religious charitable organisations have faced state persecution whilst operating in the People's Republic. The Potenzan Reformed Church and government have condemned the imprisonment of the missionaries and demanded their immediate release. The Vangalan Communist regime has refused, and stated a full and proper investigation will be conducted into the allegations.

The detained were believed to be operating in remote mountainous and jungle villages in Kitadesh provinces, the location of the Vangalan portion of the Meghalayas' range. Tribal communities in the region were the focus of missionary activity during the Franconian colonial era, and many tribes converted, often to the Franconian Lutheran denomination. Members of the Village Peace Force, a Communist militia responsible for policing isolated areas, seized Bibles as evidence, although the Potenzan Reformed Church claims they were for personal use.

The Reformed Church of Potenza demands the immediate release of her missionaries, who have done no wrong, and have merely served the humanitarian needs of the local communities. Missionaries have explicit commands not to impede upon the religious beliefs on others, and if any proselytizing was being committed, it was with the free will and permission of the other party. The Vangalan government cannot control the individual actions and interests of her people, and this arrest is an affront not only to freedom of religion, but the natural law of men.

Austwegian Explorer Group to Chart new direction to South Pole

KRISTANIA (Reuters) - With the recent departure of the Carentanian Mission to Antarctica, the Folkting decided it was time to give the go ahead to the Austwegian Navy's expedition to the South Pole. A team of Marines, survival specialists deemed as explorers, and scientists are to be led by an Austwegian Frigate and a transport ship to begin an expedition in effort to conduct various cold weather experiments as well as a survey of the landscape and various cartographic missions.

The expectation is that Austwegian winter gear is expected to hold up better than previous expeditions and to establish a semi-permanent scientific base at the magnetic South Pole.

The Folkting, having green lit the mission, then gave it to the Bakken Government. It is expected that Chancellor Bakken will schedule the expedition for Mid to Late August, although not all of the details have been made specific by the Bakken Government yet. A spokesman for the Government suggested that near the beginning of the next month, a lot more information will become public on the full nature of the expedition. He also stated that much like the Carentanian Mission, "Østveg means to challenge the hegemony established by the Ivernians and the Aurarians. Carentania achieved this earlier with a mission of direct, but peaceful confrontation. We feel the best means to go about this action is to put the land to good use and learn more about our world."

Please consider our request, the Continental Navy has denied our requests several times to conduct a Sylvanian expedition and your Navy is our last hope of ever being able to bring knowledge about the south pole back to the students of Sylvania.

The High Kingdom of Ivernia wishes to state that is has since revised it's previous claims to such a large landmass of the southern frozen continent of Sneachtír to something far less ostentatious. We had not made a formal claim before it was picked up by an Aurarian newspaper bringing these discussions to light.

Ivernia has since revised it's claim to Maximillian Port and it's permanent Scientific Base further south. We wish to affirm to the Kingdom of Østveg and the Continental Republic of Sylvania that the scientific establishments which were contructed in October of last year (Base) and the year before of 1951 (Port) are not military intallations and are purely of scientifics and intellectual merit.

We hope in the Austwegian and possible Sylvanian endeavors to Sneachtír that they make use of pre-existing Ivernish installation if they need to for any assistance in establishing their own installations.
