Aurarian Authorities Scramble to Restore Normalcy to Air Traffic in Response to the Engellexic Airspace's Closure
As a result, the normal flow of air traffic was significantly disturbed as the international hub of Hammersmith closed with no notice, forcing a diversion of a significant number of international flights to the Two Kingdoms, Serenierre, and Auraria. In Auraria’s case, the vast majority of the flights were diverted to Rafael Gutierrez de Robles (RGR) International Airport in Solis and Tauritania (TAU) International Airport.
The overflow caused cancellations and delays as both airports suspended a number of rules to allow flights to land while the ANCTA developed plans to address the situation. ANCTA has reached out to counterparts in countries across Gallia to coordinate a response and ensure that air travel returns to normalcy at as early a pace as possible.
Johan Duran-Aznariz, the President of RGR Airport’s Board of Directors, held a press conference this afternoon to address some of the immediate questions relating to the crisis.
“The decision of the Engellexic Republic was incredibly irresponsible and has caused significant economic damage across Europe,” Duran-Aznariz stated “We have been working nonstop, round-the-clock to ensure that we can get flights moving again. I have been in contact with both international and Aurarian airlines discussing diverted routes and alternatives.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reached out to the Engellexic Republic for clarity on the closure of its airspace and any direction it can provide as to when it could be expected that the airspace will reopen.
In the meantime, the Aurarine Republic has issued directives to alleviate some of the stress by offering temporary reprieve of fees and taxes associated with traveling through Aurarine Airspace. In addition, RGR and TAU are decreasing fees for landing and docking at both airports. Additionally, Aurarian Air has stated it will be working with customers to reschedule flights and offer refunds where necessary. ■

[SOLIS] - The National Administration for the Coordination of Air Traffic (Administración Nacional de Coordinación de Tránsito Aéreo, ANCTA) declared an emergency situation today as the Engellexic Republic unexpectedly announced a closure of its airspace to all civilian aircraft, regardless of origin. While the Engellexic released travel advisories for its citizens currently residing abroad, air traffic administrators were not given prior notice.
