VIGIL MAINTAINED ALONG NORTHERN BORDER

As it was during the days of Emperor Charles I, when Montelimar defended the northern reaches of the Holy Tiberan Empire from barbarian invasion, so it is today as the Kingdom of Montelimar defends civilization from the new brand of barbarian, ones calling themselves Communists. It is these barbarians, just across Montelimars northern border, in the so-called People’s Republic of Lusitania, that Montelimar guards the south from. It is these Communists that continue their deprivations against both God and man, that is the reason Parliament authorized the budget for border defence to be increase allowing the Royal Gendarmerie to increased its manpower along the border as well as installing more sophisticated surveillance equipment. The border, which at one time had lightl defencec, have been constantly upgraded since the communist takeover of southern Lusitania, upgrades that some say are destined to make borders one of the most secured in the west.

In behalf of all four Lusitanian states, including the People's Republic, though we are not in position of condemning Montelimar for reinforcing its northern border, we urge Moteleimar not to take the threat too seriously, since in foreign relations, all Lusitanian states are controlled by the Union, that acts together.

The stance in regards to the People's Republic of Lusitania is commendable and The Kingdom of Belmont supports it wholeheartedly. Futhermore, we offer Montelimar aid in anything they require.

Ascheburg likewise commends Montelimar's vigilant attitude when it comes to godless Communists that have defiled the lands of Lusitania.

We urge Montelimar to exercise some restrain in its' policies towards Communism. Useless rhetoric and inflammatory military posturing serves the interests of noone and damages the fruitful diplomatic engagement that has been initiated as of late.

The Commonwealth and all her assorted territories in Coronado and Ferèzanno commend the Kingdom of Montelimar in it's vigilance over the egalitarian threat looming just over it's border. The egalitarian menace is a severe threat to the stability of the region as a whole, and the caution exercised by the collective forces of Montelimar are commendable indeed. The Commonwealth is in support of any action made to deter unwanton conflict or uprising, both of which such states as the 'People's Republic' are want to do.

Sincerely yours,

The Ministry of Internal Security would be derelict in its responsibilities if it did not take any threat to the well being of the Kingdom seriously and therefore will continue to maintain the security of the border between Kingdom of Montelimar and the People's Republic of Lusitania.

In addition, this ministry does have an inquiry. Since the Union proclaims is controls all the states of Lusitania, will it accept responsibility for any and all actions by the People's Republic that is deemed a threat to the security of the Kingdom of Montelimar?

It is in the opinion of this ministry that in light of past histories of the Communist movement, the Kingdom of Montelimar is in fact showing much restaint in its policies concerning that ideology. If in fact it were military posturing that the Kingdom was engaged in, it would be the Royal Army that was on the border and not just the Gendarmerie.

We continue to be concerned about the increase of tensions on our southern border and urge restraint from the Kingdom of Montelimar. Additionally, we offer use of the Winter Palace to hold informal discussions between the Union of Lusitania and the Kingdom of Montelimar.

The Kingdom of Montelimar has a sovereign right to defend its borders and the Kingdom of Belmont realizes that and sees the Montelimarian vigil as an internal matter.

Seeing that the Union has little control over the internal affairs of the individual Lusitanian States, especially those affairs within the People's Republic, the Kingdom of Montelimar maintains a secure border so that whatever is goes on in the PRL, stays in the PRL. On the other hand, since the Union claims it has full authority to act on foreign matters, the Kingdom of Montelimar is more than willing to open a dialogue to discuss the matter.

Union of Lusitania

Though we may have different visions of society, we have built this Union under the belief that the Lusitanians must be spared another war or some kind of invasion. Reaching this compromise, all four states have pledged to never take aggressive action against a foreign entity or to destabilize borders, under the threat of expulsion. As the People's Republic has done nothing of the kind, we find this is no issue needing urgent discussion. We thank, however, the Skånskige Statsunionen for the generous offer, but this not an issue of such graveness. Montelimar has all the right of defending its border and so has Lusitania. «

The Duc de Luynes, who has served as Prime Minister for the past eleven years has been in poor health for the past several months and rumors of his plans of retiring have been curculating for nearly as long.

VALMY - Due to health concerns, Louis-Charles d'Albert, Duc de Luynes, has informed His Majesty, King Armand I, that he will resign from his post as Prime Minister and will retire to his estates in northern Montelimar. The 68 year old Louis-Charles d'Albert, who was appointed Prime Minister by King Philipe V in 1998 has served though all nine years of the reign of King Armand I.

“His Majesty has reluctantly accepted the prime minister’s resignation," the King's press secretary said, " but though the Duke will be greatly missed, the government still has to go on working so the King will start consultations with cabinet ministers and parliament to find someone new to head that government"
