it requires at least CS4, but there are a few sites on the internet which help a lot.

you need to register to this place to view a lot of the documents, but I used this tutorial until I learned some new stuff by trial and error:

Totally trying this tutorial when I go on leave. Though if I name a town or two after cheap vodka's and liquors do not be surprised.

Pales in comparison to Soledad's, and made using slightly more primitive tools (paint), but I'm pleased with it. I will be working on the islands a bit more (eventually, maybe), but for now it's done. Might be doing something about those rivers as well - for the record those are just the major ones.

And yes, those mountain ranges are supposed to be huge.

You must be registered for see images

You did that with PAINT!? What the hell am I missing? Either way, all those maps are very, very sexual.

It's actually quite easy-peasy, just takes time.

First, I increased the size of the picture (zoomed in and used printscreen). Then I used the one-pixel drawing tool to draw a new, detailed outline, and added the smaller islands. Then I drew the basic outline of where I wanted the mountains, lakes and rivers.

Then the annoying part, I got a topographic picture of the world (extremely large), and copy-pasted in useful bits. Since I used the same scale I wanted in my map, and the topographic map was so huge, I could overlap pieces and you don't notice it. The largest chain, for example, doesn't really exist, I just found parts that fit.

Then I just cleaned up the edges, and used a good shade of green to fill in the islands.

let's put it this way. there's no way you have a population that's more than twice as large as the biggest single nation in ns-europe.

.....Why are populations so low all of a sudden? I know 500,000,000 was around the average here just a few months ago!

well, we sort of had this little thing where we just kind of restarted, you see.

populations are (at least somewhat) more realistic now. plan accordingly or face /ignore cannons.

You're a Communist dictatorship.

Birth rates aren't that high to get 175 million by now. Fuck, Brazil doesn't even have that much people - and it's received a fuck load of immigrants, the United States only has 300 million because of god damned immigration, and no retard is going to migrate to a communist shithole.

It's an issue of playability. We shouldn't forget this still is a game and experience has shown us that the combination of large populations with strong economies is very dull and bent to produce drama. So people are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to put population and GDP per capita in relation to each other, making large nations poor by default.
