Hey, everyone. I'm from the US, and to be honest, I've never really done much in the way of RP before. I just joined up on NS though, found this, and thought it might be fun. In other words, patience would be appreciated while I get off of the ground! I'm currently reading through the New Player Guide and the FAQ page, which I assume will make more sense when I have two posts on the forum and all the links no longer say Hidden Content. I'm hoping, at least.

Welcome! The forum can be a bit overwhelming when you first arrive but do not hesitate to ask any questions you might have.

Hello everyone!
My name is Donatello and I'm ruling the Kingdom of Eilezia on NS, trying to get my little State off to a good start but currently I'm facing a down economy :p
I've always been proud to be European so this is why yesterday I moved to Europe ;-)
I'm going to work on the general description of my kingdom and the guidbook and FAQs have been really useful to get a first idea on how to do it. Still, I have some questions I hope you might help me with! Forgive me if the answers seem obvious but it's the first time I play a role game...

1) On NS, to unlock the capital city and the leader I need hundreds of millions of inhabitants. Can I invent them here although I haven't reached these thresholds?
2) To what extent can I adapt the history to my fantasy? Of course I wouldn't write that an Ottoman Empire conquered the whole Europe but, for example, my dominion, despite being located in France, managed to keep its independence from the French Empire during the Napoleonic era. Is it possible to create such backgrounds?
3) When elaborating the "identikit" of my State, I have to stick to my current conditions on NS or I should change them on the basis of the year we're referring to here in the forum? For example, now my population is around 6million. Do I reduce it to a reasonable amount for the 1958?

Thanks in advance for your replies and I hope to have a nice time here with your company :)
Have a nice day/evening/night!

Welcome it is nice to meet you

-Answers-

1. Yes you can invent them.
2.Sort of we have nations based off of France such as Bourgogne but to be honest this is sort of made up it doesn't have to be based off of a real country so you can pretend there was a French Colonial nation that collapsed that never colonized you or speak to Bourgone about it thrup Private Message.
3.You can make up your own Stats so it doesn't really matter because this is independent from NS this where you Role Play so it acn be made up as long as you don't go overboard with 500 million people on a tiny island etc. I would say see what the population of the places that inspire you were in 1956 and use that or if you have more than one find an average by adding them together and dividing them by how many nations that inspire you there are.

Welcome to Europe.

Our roleplay here is an entire world of its own and its history is a collaborative fiction by all active players on this forum. In other words: you can make up as much as you want, just try to fit it in with what other players have written. This can be overwhelming at first, but you will get a hang on it pretty quickly.

The entire roleplay here happens independently of your account on nationstates, so whatever you do there has no relevance for RP here. This includes population. Just figure out what kind of nation you want to create here and choose a reasonable population size for it.

Welcome to Europe! We have another Italian here, though it seems Justiza didn't waste a second in introducing himself to his fellow fratello d'Italia. ;) Veniasufia beat me to answering your questions so I'll just have to make do with saying that you'll love it here!

Hi there. Americlap reporting in. The fresh prince of Andaluz (not sure what alias he goes by on NS) has invited me here. I'd done forum RPs with him in the past and even tried to join here at one point, but I was a pleb and never committed, and inevitably got distracted with my mechanical engineering major. Now that I'm done there I have much more free time. I've been RPing for a long time, although it's been a while in particular.

I'm going to see if I can grab a spot on the African landmass. I wish to play an ex-Scandinavian colony in Africa, inspired by some stuff I saw in an EU4 game a while ago (and maybe influenced a bit by Rhodesia).

I'll try my very best to contribute nicely to this mature storyline that you guys have been developing!

Hi and welcome. Sadly we currently don't have any Scandinavian nations around, but both Ivernia and Cumbria, the former being Irish Gaelic and the latter being Scottish Gaelic have a big population of Norse-Gaels, so you might have a source for your people.

Sounds good. I think I'll do just that.

There's also nothing that says that Scandinavian culture can't come from being a colonial subset of one of the Germanic nations, being as they are a Germanic people.

Ahahah, I guess Justiza was taken by the surprise of seeing another fratello d'Italia!
I see your Empire has a Greek culture and as I would like to locate my Kingdom in the Greek area, could you maybe suggest me some topics involving that part of Europe so I adjust my story to what has been written?
Ah, what a rude person I am...nice o meet you :p
