GUIANA EXPLORATION TO DRILL FOR OIL

Guiana Exploration (GuiEx), a division of Paxton Energy, Inc., is currently focusing on oil exploration at several identified locations to start onshore drilling operations. GuiEx says it has chosen at least three exploratory wells “based on technical merit and access considerations.” The identified sites are across the 800,000-acre Berbice Block and Paxton Energy is schedule to begin the onshore drilling operations in Berbice in the next quarter of this year.

Paxton Energy is very optimistic about finding oil in the Berbice Block after reporting encouraging results from “very good quality seismic data” obtained in the feasibility programme it completed in May. In addition, a new geometrical analysis has concluded that, based on fluorescence, potential oil in the Berbice Block itself is “likely significantly lighter than in expected.” This suggests that the Berbice Block contains much more recoverable oil reserves than was previously projected.

“We are excited about this opportunity because of the positive geo-chem analysis and the recent seismic programme,” Paxton Energy's President John Paxton said yesterday.

But Mr. Paxton cautioned that as no large petroleum reservoirs have yet been discovered in this part of Guiana, “the risk of finding commercial deposits of petroleum remains high.”

There is also reports that the company has been exploring to offshore sites as well. Though until futher tests are made, estimates of the offshore zone remains uncertain, preliminary test shows that the zones may contain reserves of at least 1.2 billion barrels of oil.

ARGICULTURAL REPORTS RELEASED

The Ministry of Agriculture today has released a report indicating that agricultural production of food crops is up an average of 37% across the board with the largest gains being sugarcane (+63%), rice (57%), wheat (+51%), soy beans (+49%) with the production of cash crops such as coffee, cocoa, cotton and tobacco all being up over 55%.

In addition, beef, pork, poultry dairy products are also all up an average of 23% while fishing industry has reported a 29% increase on all catches with a 25% increase in the shrimp harvest.

Officials have indicated that new investors, new equipment, the losening of restriction and the opening of more land for cultivation and grazing may should even make future growth even greater.

AMAILA FALLS HYDROELECTRIC FACILITIES COMPLETED

Today, the full potential of the Amaila Falls Hydroelectric Dam has been realized as the fourth and final phase of the project has been completed. At 12:00 PM today the 4TH Phase generators will come on-line bringing the full 1060 MW to the national grid. Operated by Guiana Power & Light, the project, costing £2.4 billion and seven years to complete, has been surprisingly done within budget and on schedule.

SECURITY COUNCIL PASSES BATAVIE RESOLUTION

Augsburg - After what has felt like an eternity, the Security Council of the CoN has finally passed the resolution to send peacekeepers and much needed relief supplies into the civil war torn Batavie Republic. After long debate and an attempt by the General Assembly to take the matter out of the hands of the Security Council, four of the seven members of the SC voted in favor an Oikawan resolution, including that of Guiana's own Dr. Millhouse, with the remaining three members failing to even cast a vote, will now effectively allow the next stage of dealing with the growing Batavie Crisis to begin. Question is, with the resolution is now in effect, how long will it take to institute the provisions of the resolution and considering the recent events, will the Batavians wait that long?

Bomb Blast in Vlaanderen
It looks like the question of how long the Batavians will wait is answered....not long. A bomb blast in a Vlaanderen cafe frequented by government employees, including police, has killed at least 18 people with another dozen believed buried in the rubble. This has happened even after the Security Council passed the resolution to help end the crisis in the country. The Batavian Revolutionary Army, the group that controls the Spa area of northern Batavie, has taken responsibility for the bombing, which, at least according to some experts, is a reaction to the slow pace of the CoN in bringing relief to the sick and hungry of BRA controlled Spa.

Act of Desperation?
The frustration is understandable, as the SC now must institute the provisions of the resolution, relief supplies are piling up on docks and at airfields just a few miles north across the channel in Eireann. Here relief supplies from the EDF and other nations such as Belmont and far away Khalistan, are being readied to send into Batavie along with peacekeeping troops, waiting for only one thing, permission from the Security Council. The situation is like that of a man dying of thirst, but must wait for someone else to decide whether to give him water in a cup or a glass when straight from the tap is needed.

PRIME MINISTER ORDERS NEW FEASIBILITY STUDY OF CANAL

GEORGETOWN - Prime Minister Mudd has ordered a new feasibility study on whether a canal can be built, using modern technology and resources, that would allow seagoing shipping to cross between the Green Sea and the Implarian Ocean with the likely route being from Linden on on the east coast to Port Wellington on the west. Though this is the fourth study of its kind, the first being done in 1898, it will be the first one sponsored by the Guianan government, as the previous ones being the first two by Mayaland in 1898 and 1918 and one private contractor's study in 1938.

Asked why the sudden interest in a canal, the Prime Minister responded, "The interest is not sudden, the fact that three previous studies have been done shows that interest has been there for over a century, but, with the development of modern equipment and construction methods, there has been certain parties that have shown a renewed interest in such a project and so I have odered a new study to determine if it is feasible and if so how much such a canal would benefit Guiana."

His Majesty's Government would welcome such an endeavour by her partners, as it would benefit the commerce and international exchange in the region. We're confident - if they are allowed to participate - there might be interested investors from Franken.

There are certainly interested parties in the private sector willing to put forward capital and industrial expertise to this potential project.

If the canal project becomes a reality, Bourgogne-Elbeuf Construction Compagnie, having extensive experience in dam, canal and port construction, would like to participate in the bidding process.

CANAL POSSIBLE, PM TO SUBMIT PROPOSAL TO PARLIAMENT

"After an extensive study by the Office of Civil Engineering, in conjuction with the Accounting Office," said Harvy Fullbright, the Prime Minister's Press Secretary, "it has been determined that a canal connecting the Green Sea to the Implarian Ocean is indeed feasible using modern construction techniques and materials. Though the canal would take advantage of natural channels and waterways, the project would need the digging of additional channels, construction of locks, and the building of dams to form man-made lakes and according to estimators, will cost an estimated £100 billion and take ten years to complete."

Though the £100 billion is a hefty cost, the Accounting Office calculates that tolls charged to use the canal would in time prove the canal a profitable endevor while at the same time cut the cost of shipping goods between the Green Sea to the Implarian Ocean dramatically.

It is not only the pricetag that has many MPs scoffing at the idea as it is, "the estimate is only in pounds," commented David Maguire of the Green Party, "what the true cost will be to the environment, a cost that is incalculable." If there is anything that could drive up the cost of the project or even block it, that would be the environmentalists filing lawsuits as already several suit have already been filed and Parliament hasn't even presented the proposal.

Though the Greens are totally against the project, this is one of those rare occasions in which the Prime Minister has the backing of both Conservatives and of Labour and is expected to pass by a large margin.

The Kingdom of Brettaine would also be interested in investing in the construction of a canal through Guiana. His Majesty's government would be interested in sending a Corps of Engineers to Guiana to help with the survey.

BIDS FOR CANAL PROJECT BEING ACCEPTED

You must be registered for see images

After an extended delay, the Office of Civil Engineering has began accepting bids for the numerous parts and phases of the Guiana Canal Project. Though many companies had shown interest initially in the £100 billion project, only a few have submitted their bids, these include Germainia/Gallia companies from Franken, Wiese and Marquette as well as Westernesse companies out of Anglyn and Gorno-Altai, but it is still early and it is hoped that other companies, including homegrown ones, will still show their desire to participate in the project.

To submit bids for the project, go to:

[The Warreic Association for Responsible Reporting]

We at WARR, the Warreic Association for Responsible Reporting- would like to remind you that responsible reporting attempts to cover all the facts, none of the heresay. There have been no confirmed ties between the loyalist and rebel factions of the Aresuran nation, to the Pasila Accord nations, or to Warre and Bantyr. While both nations intervened, neither did such a thing at the beck and call of any Aresuran faction- at least this is the official story.

While it is the responsibility of the Georgetown Herald to print what they would, we felt that mentioning such a thing would be important, because we'd like your readers to not be misinformed just as much as you would not like them to be misinformed.

>> EXPEDITIONARY FORCE SAILS FOR MONTELIMAR
Bound for Montelimar, the Guiana Expeditionary Force has left port to join with other EDF forces in the defence of Lorraine. Though no movement has been observed in Solaren in reaction to the presence of EDF forces in southern Lorraine, military officials in Georgetown will only say that "with the large number of Solaren troops already on the border the irrational and unpredictablity of the Solaren leadership, has made our deployment to Lorraine very much a necessity".

FRANKEN ROYALS VISIT GEORGETOWN

Georgetown was dressed to the nines when the Prince Regent of Franken and his anterage arrived for a royal visit to Guiana. Though royal visits are not unheard of in Georgetown, as King Roderick IV and the royal family do make their customary annual visit to their northern kingdom, it has been nearly a decade since there has been a visit from any royals from across the Great Sea. With this rare visit in mind, Georgetown pulled out all the stops, not only did Georgetown society show the Franken royals that Guiana can be as regal as its sister kingdom to the south, but the townfolk showed the Franconian what made them different from their Anglysh cousins with folk dancing and song, as well as showing them a demonsrtation match of cricket. For those who wish to know, Guiana beat Anglyn by 11 runs.

CRISIS IN THE IMPLARIAN

Is there trouble in Paradise? If you would have to ask that question a week ago of a resident in Tangaloa or Bombaim, you would have probably gotten a puzzled looked and maybe some story of trouble at work, or at home, or school, everyday troubles that people have just about anywhere you go. Now if you ask that same question to the same people today, you would get a definate...yes! And all the stories would be the same. A region that has for quite a while been quiet, as those that live there have gone about their lives, working, raising their families, being for the most part in the overall scheme of the universe, happy and content. But appearances can be deceiving, for as they went about their lives, they were suddenly told by people they don't even know that they aren't happy at all, in fact they have been living under the iron fist of a tyrant for all these years and didn't even know it.

First lets back up and consider where these people who are saying this come from and maybe then we can assertan the motives behind what and why they are being said. Kilkila, well that is a no brainer. The communists of that hell-hole saw a opening to create some discontent between two allies, and took it. "Return Bombaim to Khalistan" is what the Vangalan Foreign Minister publically announced, which turned out to be big surprise to Khalistan, Anglyn and most of all Bombaim. What became a bigger surprise was what happened next, and none was more surprised than the Vangalans themselves, every rebel rowser from Vesper to Toledo to Nokanawa started calling for, not a transfer of sovereignty, but independence for Bombaim. What was suppose to be a simple diplomatic manuvere, one that would put a strain on Anglysh-Khalistani relations and allow Vangala to make some points with the Khalsa Raj, has turned into something much bigger and has put the Vangalans on the sidelines, maybe even out of the game.

While the Vangalans might have started things, it looks to be the Cantigians that might cause the greatest amount of grief in the Implarian. It is odd that the Chancellor Ilchester of Cantigny, as top elected official in country that denies so many people so many freedoms, would pretend to be champion to those he would never allow in his own country, little along has any rights. It is even pointed out that if the revolution he is called for in Tangaloa were a success, he might give those Tangaloans that fought for him some Tangaloan land to call their own. Ilchester, a foreign head of government, will pay Tangaloans to fight for him, and if successful, he might give them land that is technically already theirs.....in otherwords, Ilchester wants Tangaloans to fight for him against the Anglysh so that what is Tangaloans becomes his so that he might some of what is already Tangaloan.....I'm getting a headache.

All I have to say it that it seem like Ilchester is asking you to give up what you already have, your freedoms, your rights hand them over to his benevolency, and maybe, just maybe, if you are all good, and do what he says, he might let you have some of it back....but don't count it.
