People's Militia mobilized to fight floods in Burning Hills district, Collisia
Freedmen's Daily
First Minister Miller today authorized the deployment of the state's People's Militia units to contain damage caused by floods in the Burning Hills district. The entirety of Collisia had experienced heavy rainfall over the course of the last two weeks, but the northern districts have been especially affected by the sudden downpour. According to the public authorities, nearly 2000 citizens have been displaced, most of them finding temporary shelter in the state's capital Westport. When announcing the deployment of People's Militia units, First Minister Miller stressed his cabinets desire to rebuild the affected communities as soon as the floods recede.
State of Arvum to reorganize farming
Arvum Public Broadcasting
The People's Assembly of Arvum today passed the controversial "Public Land Reorganization Act" that had been heavily debated since the beginning of last year. By rezoning and redistributing the arable land used by the State's sharecropper farms, the government aims to increase efficiency and maximize the output of agricultural production. The redistribution furthermore involves the reorganization of several farming communities, aiming to centralize several dozen villages into a small number of towns. This measure in particular had been reason for heated arguments throughout the Republic's Breadbasket, but a majority was eventually won over when First Minister Weizmann promised numerous infrastructural improvements, including electrification and train access, to the new agricultural communities.
President Winters invites Ivernish republicans
The Republic
In his weekly adress, President Winters expressed his governments belief that the Republicans in Ivernia were on the losing side of the conflict. "It is with a heavy heart that I must say this," the President said, claiming that this meant a severe blow to the cause of freedom in Europe. Meanwhile, however, he offered the states of the Socialist World Republic as destination for those seeking exile in the wake of the reactionary advances in Ivernia. „Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
