Bantyr Extends Diplomatic Recognition - Quickly passed by the senate and signed by Murdoch the next day, Bantyr has given a de facto recognition to the Constitutional Creation Oligarchy that is now in control of Aresura. Spokesman from the Senatedescribed the measure as acknowledging that there is now a legitamately voted in temporary government that deserves recognition by the nations of this world. The Senate plans on passing another bill giving de jure recognition when the Constitutional Creation Oligarchy is replaced by a more permanent fairly elected government. This all comes after scathing speeches and letters accusing the government of Touzen of supporting democracies in name only and asking the Council of Nations directly to intervene and inspect the ships Touzen is landing in Aresura by way of a path created by their Carrier Groups. Bantyr who also has a Carrier Group situated near the territorial waters of Aresura has threatend to increase it's naval presence if Touzen does not become more transparent with what it is shipping to Aresura, even after not long ago the Kingdom of Warre promised to decrease it's own naval presence in the area.​

Oceanic Institute Launches Ice Breakers.

After several setbacks in funding the Oceanic Institute of the University of Port Fiona has finally acquired the funds to set off toward the north pole for a series of science experiments. The new ice breakers Pelagic And Pelagic II donated by Alba Shipyards and Weylin-Teagan Steel Corporation will carry the crew and science teams, the latter mostly comprised of University students, on a mission of learning and exploration. The ships and students themselves over the past few months have received praise, threats and problems ever since the announcement of the trip. Problems with the protoype Atris Drive Systems built engines delayed the trip along with a national security threat from a long dead environmental terrorist organization named Clear Sky. But Despite all of this the crew and team pressed on to complete the repairs. President Murdoch himself visited the team and wished them well on a long and what might be a dangerous journey into the coldest regions of our planet. The Oceanic Institute expedition is expected to leave Port Fiona tomorrow.

Tariffs and Taxes put on goods and businesses from Vistrasia

After the Vistrasian government made a move to discourage Vistrasian Businesses to buy from Bantyric Business and put a special tariff on all goods from Bantyr, the Senate has approved a forty percent tax increase on all Vistrasian businesses operating within Bantyr and a special tariff on all goods that come from Vistrasia equal to the amount put on by the Vistrasian government. Economic minister Angus MacCrory said that the Bantyric people should not worry on how this will affect prices as an increase in trade with our Ally Cambria should offset most price increases on everyday items imported into Bantyr. Bantyric companies are set to enjoy increases in sales as customers turn to buy items made in Bantyr rather than from foreign companies.

The Embargo on Batavia did have an increasing impact on food prices, but as new food deals are made with Cambria, a breadbasket in it's own right, food prices have begun to stabilize. There is no word if Warre, who also put an embargo on Batavia, will also put tariffs on Vistrasian goods as Vistrasia has also extended the tariffs to them as well, however economic speculators put the odds of Warre doing the same as high.

All Northern Council Operations in Bantyr seized.

After the enactment of a one thousand percent tariff on all trade with Warre and Bantyr, the Bantyric government has authorized that all businesses with headquarters located in a northern Council nation operating on Bantyric soil shall be seized and distributed to their respective Bantyric competitors. Police officers in all Bantyric cities have raided the businesses and shut them down until the redistribution is worked out and completed. Bantyric Steel Giant, Weylin-Teagan announced they will never trade with a Northern Council nation ever again whether this trade war ends or not. Bantyr, a large fossil fuel energy supplier who has enjoyed trade with Gaelic and non-Gaelic nations alike will stop all shipments to all Northern Council Nations.

"We will not beat around the bush with this, instead of enacting a one thousand percent tariff like some child we shall simply stop all ships coming and leaving for and from the Northern Council. They are simply but a small number of nations in a world of many trying to fight with two nations non-aligned nations, we now see who the real cronies are. Henceforth the President has ordered all Northern Council ships that enter our waters will be seized until an end to this trade war is in sight." - Angus MacCrory, Economic Minister.

Indeed, the whole of Bantyr is digging in for a Northern trading war with the Naval offices recalling their fleets and the shipyards working on what will be the Third Fleet ordered to work double time. The heat off of the Port Fiona and Gleanndale shipyards is said to be fifteen degrees warmer than temperatures in the cities proper. The economic minister has also announced a plan to begin overland trading with the once closed nation of Boganhem and it's neighbor Daracnia. Trading and buying with the nations of Warre, Cambria and Kayah Tanah, a large rubber producer and Bantyric customer, is said to increase.

"We shall be ever vigilant over our waters and trading routes, the Batavians interfered first with their destroyer movements and now these embargoes have become a full blown trading war. Our navies will be watching, our Radar installations on and sweeping our airspace twenty four-seven, we won't put it past Northern Council nations to turn this trading war into one fought with bombs and machine guns. The government and military expect the worst, after sending a letter explaining the tariffs on Vistrasia to the Vistrasian government we now see the reactionary tendencies in the Northern Council for what they are, like a bully who has been bruised by a small child fighting back the Northern Council reacts with measures not equal to the original attack.

"It does not matter if our Gaelic brothers follow with us we shall fight back with all our might against corrupt multi-national alliances on our own if we have to. We warned them we would respond with equal measures of our own and this is the move they make? I shall be conferring with our allies on a strategy to fight this trading war, make no mistake the military option will not be used unless we are attacked first. We have given our ultimatum to the Northern Council, stay out of our waters and your ships will be safe, enter and they will be destroyed with out discrimination." -President Malcolm Murdoch

Bangleann Beltway Most Dangerous.

The dreaded Bangleann beltway has once again been rated the most dangerous highway in all of Bantyr with a record of three hundred crashes for only the few months of this year, over half reported as fatal.

"I blame the people who built this city, there was no plan what so ever when they built it, old and new clash together, no wonder the Fed's moved the government buildings outside the city proper." - Concerned Bangleann resident.

The city council has yet to comment on the new rating.

'The latest news coming from Bantyr is most disturbing indeed. We can clearly see here a classic example of reactionism, nationalism and bad international politics. Again, I cannot reiterate it enough, Batavian naval vessels never, at any time, came close to breaching the territorial waters of our neighbour Warre. We would not think of doing such a rash thing. However, Lumina and it's ally in Bantyr decided to impose an embargo. Why, I still do not understand, but the fact is that they did. The NC, as a united trade and economic group, reacted justly by imposing sanctions in proportion. And now Bantyr threatens war and illegally seizes all NC businesses operating in their country. Ladies and Gentlemen, just wait and see how the rest of the international community reacts to this news. What a prime example Bantyr is now showing the world how they treat their competitors. Not only are the capitals of the NC justifiably outraged, but the governments elsewhere watching this will surely be shocked as well.

This is turning into a ridiculous spectacle. As a peace-loving and rational country, I, as Foreign Minister of the Republic, am calling on Lumina, as leader of the Celtic Duo, to come to Vlaanderen for an open-ended discussion with myself and Prime Minister Diepenbrock. Only then can we put our grievances onto the negotiating table and end this destructive trade war.'

Trade Negotiations To Commence With Great Engellex

In an odd move from the norm in the North these days, the Union of Great Engellex, the Warreic High Kingdom and our own republic shall be engaging in negotiations to increase trade between our three nations.

"We are prepared to do what we must to foster a better trading environment with Engellex and upon insistence from their foreign ministers in Bangleann have promised that the seizure and sale of private property is only confined to that of Northern Council nations." - Angus MacCrory, Economic Minister.

The economic ministry has expressed it's excitement in attending the conference and that they have high hopes that a non-hostile trade environment can be fostered amidsts this trade war.

The song "Fuck The NC!" has enjoyed number one success on the Bantyric Rock charts for the last two days and is forecasted to continue to top the charts for the rest of the week. The song contains the curse fuck fifty-eight times.

Fishing Fleets Work Double Time

The Fisherman's union has approved the allowance of companies to work fishing crews on double shifts. Reports from fishing companies have said that there has been minimal protest as employees feel it is quote: "The patriotic thing to do."

Bantyric Families Do With Less

Families across the nation have begun voluntarily rationing their food intake. An older couple stated. "We did it in the war times when I was kid, we can do it again if need be." - Wilfred Piper of Kilkenny

The government has not instated a compulsory rationing of food yet but some citizens are expecting it to happen depending on the governments ability to find new suppliers.

Government hopes to Renegotiate with Cambria

The deputy economic minister is set to travel to Cambria soon in hopes to renegotiate larger grain shipments per ton.
"Our blood relation may be thinner but we have enjoyed peaceful coexistence with the Cambrians for generations. Our trade ties are strong and I have no doubt that there will be success in our renegotiation." - Bruce Blair, Deputy Economic Minister

President Murdoch Resigns, domestic exchanges frozen.

The nation has fallen into an uproar over the past week as food prices begin to skyrocket and Bantyric men and women wake up to a almost worthless currency. The news of Bantyric unity and cooperation in this trade war against the Northern Council have literally disappeared as people take the the streets protesting President Murdoch's decision to continue the trade war. Police have surrounded banks preventing citizens from stampeding them and removing what they have in their accounts. Amidst the chaos President Murdoch, disillusioned with his challenge of his nation united in challenging the Northern Council has resigned in shame leaving the job and two years left in his term to his Vice President Allen Gordon who was sworn in quickly to prevent the executive position from being vacant.

President Gordon has called this a new, tough era in Bantyric history.

I promise you all that my taking the reigns here will be an end to reactionary politics in our nation, no longer shall we challenge every nation who may pose as a competitor on the world scale. We can no longer follow in lock step with our brothers in Warre, it was our following them in the embargo on Batavie that started this whole thing and we must now face the consequences of the actions of Murdoch and make our peace, we must look toward our Cambrian brothers and adopt their calm voice in international politics. I have authorized the dropping of the embargo on Batavie and the embargo on Vistrasia in hopes that this move will show that we have changed and we are willing to negotiate and end to this destructive trade war.

The years to come will be tough as we rebuild our economy and ease the worry of foreign investors, we will have to make many tough decisions, freezing the Bantyric Stock Market was one of them but more will follow. There will be much financial pain to come while we rebuild our reputation as a nation interested in trading fairly with our neighbors, we may have to raise taxes and cut many things from our budget but I ask you, the Bantyric citizen, who works so hard to make this country work, to give us your patience while we work to undo the massive damage that has been done to our economy. - President Allen Gordon

The president also stated in his speech that he will suspend his own pay, saying: "every little bit saved in the budget will help us toward recovery." Indeed the president was very tough on Murdoch's reactionary allies, going so far as to fire Murdoch's entire cabinet, his CoN ambassador and many other of his advisors without severance pay.

Allen Gordon a out of nowhere pick for a vice presidential candidate has not said much over the years of Malcolm Murdoch's term, he blames this on Murdoch's tyrannical hold over him and much of the senate, accusing him of gross corruption and of being a virtual dictator over all operations of the government. Gordon at the time only forty-one years of age was said to be picked to make Murdoch's campaign more appeasing to the younger crowd as news media at the time praised his decision of picking a 'dashing young man' who will bring a different point of view to old Bantyric politics, his frequent appearances ended after the campaign had won the election. It now remains to be seen what this young politician can bring to the table in a time of near economic collapse.

The Downward Spiral Continues

The markets are still frozen and growth has slowed immensely as the government continues to find ways of stopping the downward spiral of the Banc. Police and citizens clashed at banks across the countries as police have been ordered to stop a run on the banks, several people were injured after one particularly violent clash in Port Fiona. Meanwhile back in Bangleann politicians are doing everything they can to stop the entire country from imploding, a deal with Boganhem to sell them coal is being worked out as they try to restart exports and get other nations buying back into Bantyr. However it won't be enough and the only saving grace here is the continued exports to Kayah Tanah and Warre who haven't stopped buying from Bantyr. Rumors among economists in Bantyr say that the government may have default on it's debts and that there is no way that Allen Gordon could give back the nationalized assets and still be able to fix the economy paying back reparations to the Northern Council despite his promise to negotiate with them. The government has stressed that rumors of default are not true and that they should be readily dismissed.

The government has begun dipping into it's massive grain reserves to stabilize the price of grain in the country and keep it affordable for families who have been relying on the fishing industry to supply them with food. Government owned assets and land are expected to be put on the international market to sell and inject a foreign currency into Bantyric coffers so that they may resume importing food and other essential items, this includes the 243 billion Northern dollars worth of Northern Council assets that were seized in ex-President Murdoch's trade war with the NC.

I am instructed to express on behalf of Her Engellexic Majesty;

To convey her understanding and regret at the melancholy circumstance that is poised to engulf the continent in this moment of great economic and social stress.

It should be acknowledged that her Majesty the Queen remains incredibly hopeful that an accord can be found for redefining our economic relationship as to better adjust to this new found situation. You can be reassured, however, that in spite of the concern and excitement of your people, Great Engellex will not allow the Republic of Bantyr to decline needlessly.

While we will continue to look for a new approach in policy by Bantyr on the Northern Council, and on the region as a whole, it has been welcomed by ministers of the Queen that a contingency should be established to allow for an increase in domestic food production in Great Engellex, as to facilitate more agreeable market conditions for the purchase of said manufactures. Although an agreement will need to be reached promptly to see for a greater access of Bantyr domestic market of Engellexic manufactures, to support the people in their moment of greatest need.

Default!

Despite constant assurance that the government would not default on it's debts the economic minister announced that only those who are owed domestically will be payed back along with a select few of allied states who have made loans to the Bantyric government, all others will not be payed in full. The Banc has fallen to it's lowest worth in all of Bantyric history while the government frantically doles out what foreign reserve currency they have to domestic creditors. Growth has slowed to a standstill as domestic exchanges continue to be frozen in place. Meanwhile the government has opened up all of it's grain reserves and is now distributing it across the country, this has only been forecast to last the country a standard month before grain reserves are exhausted. Riots at bank store fronts continue to become more violent with police, who are now working without pay, bring in heavy armor APC's to ward off angry citizens. The government has indefinitely cut all welfare programs to all citizens leaving an estimated two million people without their welfare checks. Welfare recipients and immigrants alike have found themselves being attacked by hard working citizens who despise their once free ride with the government, so far only minor casualties have been reported with no deaths as of yet.

Malcolm Murdoch and his entire cabinet were charged with treason today for sending Bantyr into this ruinous trade war with out any way out as Northern Council backlash is expected due to the default. After their trials all fifteen men were put up before a firing squad and promptly executed. This swift justice has brought some reprieve to the citizen anger being show in the streets as most believe that despite the crushing economic effects of the trade war that the new President, Allen Gordon, is doing everything possible to revert the downward spiral. New deals with Boganhem to buy Bantyric coal have brought in much needed foreign currency, however more deals with other nations will have to transpire before any hope of recovering can be seen.

That the Queen shall have much satisfaction in informing her ministers, and the Parliament, that the negotiations conducted be her Majesty’s ministers since the manifestation of the economic crisis within the region, through Sir David Wilberforce, her Majesty’s minister at Bangleann, have resulted in the signature of a convention which the Queen trusts will place the commercial relations between Great Engellex and Bantyr on a greatly improved footing.

The main provisions of the instrument of agreement shall be provided to their Lordships of the House and members of the Assembly shortly.

Her Majesty the Queen extends her thanks to the Republic, and prays that the circumstance imposed on the people of Bantyr will not bear them much hardship.

New Trade deal, NC Assets For Discounted Sale

New Trade agreements have been signed with Engellex after Engellex pledges to not let Bantyr "decline needlessly." The deal was quickly passed through the senate as it continues working toward stemming the hemorrhaging economy. In the end however economists believe that Bantyr will need a bailout, maybe even multiple times, or face a complete collapse into total anarchy. Selling has been easier than buying though as Banc has now completed it's path to worthlessness. Cities and towns a like have become quiet as the usual hustle and bustle of workers and shoppers stay home due to the crippled economy. Police patrols have been increased in response to an expected rise in crime, however the police are essentially working for nothing and there is no promise by the government that they will be payed back for essentially working for free. The sense at home seems to be that whatever options come our way, the Bantyric people will have to work together to rebuild this broken nation.

In other news the senate has fully authorized the sale of nationalized Northern Council assets at a forty to fifty percent discount, one anonymous senator said that he hoped they could at least get 130 billion for the assets in what they hope will be a much needed 'jumpstart' to the domestic economy.

Cambria Delivers Economic Help

Ally and friend the Kingdom of Cambria enacted a finacial aid plan to Bantyr for a total of two billion Cambrian Crowns over a period of five years, the first payout to be around the sum of 450 million Crowns. The government has said this first portion of the aid will be used to pay government workers such as police officers, firemen, soldiers and public works employees.

"Right now we are doing everything we can to stabilize and rebuild our economy, I understand that many of your believe that money should be given out to the people who are suffering the most due to Malcolm Murdoch's horrible policies but we must keep the government running to prevent a plunge into total anarchy. We cannot ask our uniformed men and women, the soldiers who protect our borders, the brave people who put out the fires and those who keep our roads safe to drive on to go without pay for too long. This money will prevent us from falling into anarchy and I thank our Cambrian brothers and sisters for lending us this money. - President Allen Gordon on the Cambrian Bailout

Included in the economic deal was a promise to hold up the agricultural deal signed last week that will keep our people fed, the government announced that these new shipments of grain will be put back into storage to create a new grain reserve and a moratorium on interest on debt owed to Cambria, who was one of the few nations Bantyr promised to pay back debt it owes.

Private corporations in Cambria have also taken advantage of the Bantyric economic crisis by buying out portions of corporations who have been struggling to keep afloat in the hostile Bantyric economic environment. Weylin-Teagan steel giant sold twenty percent of it's owned assets to Cambrian Van Ornum Heavy Industries. Horizon telecommunications bought out the entirety of the Dynamic Communications after rumors that the company would go bankrupt soon. Cambrian insurance giant Jenkins Smith Davies bought a majority of shares in Bangleann State Fire and Life promising that for the moment they will not modify insurance plans of Bangleann State residents. Other buyouts and investments are expected to occur as companies either look for someone to buy them or offer up their devalued stock shares for sale. The government has also stated that corporate tax rates for the Cambrian companies will be lowered from 15% to 7%.

One Hundred Thousand Tax Evaders And Welfare Recipients Move to Scania

The Skånske Statsunionens approved 100,000 work permits for 'Bantyric Citizens' to work in Scania, however government records for these 100,000 men and women profile most of them as criminals, tax evaders and chronic welfare abusers.

"Why Scania would take these criminals is beyond me, they must have not done the proper research into who was crossing their borders or their forms must be really easy to lie on. In any matter, the President has decreed that none of these criminals will be welcome back to Bantyr no matter what and that if any of these 100,000 men and women cross back into Bantyr they can expect to be sent to the Dal Riata Island Maximum Security prison.

The Dal Riata prison is a Maximum Security facility located on the northern island where temperatures hardly ever go above freezing and prisoners are forced to work in mines. The prison has a sixty percent prisoner death rate.

Drug Deaths Increasing

With moral low since the start of the country's economic ruin drug crime has been on the rise with Ad-Vice detectives on the trail of a stolen crate of military issue morphine syrettes. The drugs having now found their way on to the streets and into the veins of the Port Fiona drug using populace. A Port Fiona district judge was found dead in his home with a used morphine syrette in his hand and another twenty unused syrettes in a hidden compartment of his home office. The use of Morphine and other heroin related products are illegal to use and police are stressing that anyone found possessing these stolen syrettes will be prosecuted with the full extent of the law.

Protest Turns Violent, Police Crackdown

Protesters outside the Capitol building in Bangleann turned violent causing skittish police officers to open fire on the protesters with sub-machine guns, a few of the protesters in the crowd who were also armed returned fire. The resulting firefight ended with thirty dead protesters and five dead policemen, injuries were not reported. The protesters had been protesting the federal government's decision to use the Cambrian bailout money to keep the government running, the protesters felt that money should be given to the people who were suffering for the previous administration's foolish trade war with with Northern Council.

All across the nation people have found themselves under police scrutiny as things become increasingly tense in the cities. Heavily armed patrols have been seen on street corners along with police APC's on city streets. Rumors have been circling that the government is preparing for a revolt of some kind, the government has said these rumors to be untrue and that the increased police presence was merely for the people's protection against small groups of anarchists and petty criminals who have been taking advantage of the confusion caused by the economic crisis.

Northern Council Assets Sold

In what seems to be one last strike against the Northern Council, all seized assets were sold to the Shaw-Fujikawa Group of Breotonia for €130 Billion. President Allen Gordon had this to say on the controversial decision that will no doubt continue the feud between Bantyr and the Northern Council.

"The Northern Council gave us an offer and we rejected it, suffice it to say it included a repayment for the seized assets and a eventual joining of our economy with the northern council. I rejected this idea because I will not oversee Bantyr's entry into what can be considered modern day slavery as our people work off the debt for decades and decades and are subjected to the economic laws of the Northern Council. The seizing of assets was an idiotic and morally reprehensible move by the now deceased ex-president Malcolm Murdoch and even though I did not agree with his move I had to sell these assets to the Breotish as it was the only way. We must forget this event and forget the Northern Council as a normalization of relations does not seem to be even possible as they themselves seem to want the trade war to continue with their incentives to cease trading with us and their media outlets calling our people dirt. From here on out we only have to look forward as we dig ourselves out of this hole and return to a state of normality." - President Allen GordonAlong with the Shaw-Fujikawa purchase was a direct loan from the Breotish government of €100 billion at a three percent interest rate which was a compromise between the two states for lower tax rates and tariffs on Breotish goods and business operating within Bantyr.

Government Continues To Try and Change Image

President Allen Gordon and his government have been hard at work since taking power at trying to make the once hostile environment Bantyr was into one that is friendly and easy to work with when it comes to investors and foreign businesses. Most of these measures involve lowering taxes for new coming foreign businesses. Both the Cambrians and Breotish have taken up on the offer to expand into Bantyr by purchasing companies hit hard by Malcolm Murdoch's trade war and the seized Northern Council assets. The government has also found itself in talks with the Engellexic in hopes of bringing even more investment, however the trade deal is now reported to be hung up in the Engellexic Parliament. The President and the Bantyric Senate have expressed their disappointment with this hang up but said they were eagerly willing to do whatever it takes to change the minds of MP's in the Engellexic Parliament.

"It looks desperate because it is desperate, we need foreign nations to come invest and expand into Bantyr to reverse the damage that the previous administration did to our economy, if we don't increase exports and get our product rolling off the line quickly we will find ourselves back in the position we were when we were at rock bottom, unable to even import food like we regularly did. Now with this latest injection of foreign currency we can get the ball rolling again and move toward fixing the Banc and our nation. Domestic businesses have expressed their worries but we promise that we will do our best to keep everything competitive, capitalism is the only way out of this and we can't play favorites from who we let invest into the country, we would even take Northern Council nations again if it was even remotely possible, with the way things are that won't possibly happen for decades until relations warm up again. -John MacLachlan, Economic Minister.

Nation Prepares For Her Engellexic Majesty's visit.

It has been many years since a monarch has set foot upon Bantyric soil with the Warreic king's last visit dating to over ten years ago in 1999. Port Fiona has been frantically preparing for the arrival of the Engellexic queen aboard her personal ship the H.E.M.S Sovereign, elements of the first fleet have been dispatched to link up the the Sovereign's Engellexic Royal Navy escort and lead them directly into the docks of Port Fiona. President Allen Gordon will be flying in aboard Executive One along with his trade secretaries to meet with the queen and dine aboard her ship, during this preliminary meeting the President shall present as a gift to Her Engellexic Majesty the claymore of Bantyr's last monarch. Afterwards all parties will make their way toward Bangleann to begin discussion of trade and other matters that have yet to be disclosed. The President's press secretary stated that a press conference would be held after the meetings to brief the media and the nation on whatever agreements are made behind closed doors.

Reconstructing Science

As part of the reconstruction of the Bantyric economy the government has begun to look toward science as a ways of bringing Bantyr out of the whole it created for itself. High tech industry has been limited to Bantyr's aircraft industry but the government is doing whatever it can to bring high tech corporations to Bantyr and to make it easy for high tech startups to gain a place in the Bantyric economy by eliminating what the President called "laws protecting against supposed immorality in scientific advancement." This quote was soon followed by a bill introduced into the Bantyric senate to do away with laws against human experimentation on prisoners to the creation of dangerous chemical weapons.

The Concordance Consortium, upon finding out about the bill, has thrown it's full financial weight into lobbying for the passage of the bill. The Concordance Consortium owns several formerly government run prisons on the island of Dal Riata, medical device assembling plants, biochemical plants, conventional weapons manufacturing and owns several biomedical, genetics and virology labs. Most of it's contracts come from the government.
