The short, but faith shaking nightmare is over as the Grand Spiritual Council announced a successor to the scandal tarred Urban III. Cardinal Adrian Verga, Head of The Inquisitorial Service was quickly selected for his immense popularity, and in recognition of the strength of his integrity bound in his devotion to The Almighty. The previous Pope was promptly arrested by agents of the Inquisition after it was discovered he had become addicted to the pornographic website “Wangyou.”

Within the days the Spiritual Council convened and its members were devoid of hesitation, selecting Cardinal Verga as the successor. Immediately, jubilant celebrations broke out all over the Sacred Kingdom. Cardinal Verga issued a brief statement to the populace before journeying to the Papal Retreat where he will begin preparations to assume the papacy. Our future spiritual father said,

“The strands of our faith have been torn apart by the ruthless disregard one man had for his God. He tarnished the beloved lineage of Holy Fathers who assumed the Urban mantle. For that reason it is my mission over the coming months to restore not just our hopes, and concrete devotion to our Church but, to restore honor and integrity to the Urban name. I will be assuming the name of Urban and I will erase from our burned memories, all that the lustful sinner wrought on our souls. You have my word, my solemn promise. May the Almighty continue to bless us all!”

The Church Office For Foreign Interaction is expected to reach out to foreign heads of states to invite them to partake in the Accession Ceremony. Naturally heretics, sinners, Islamic-whores, and the likes will be kept uninvited and outside the boundaries of the Sacred Kingdom. Many remember the attempt several decades ago by a Muslim dignitary to enter the country, forcing an entire city to be quarantined for a year. The military has promised such a scenario will not again unfold.

The source noted that a man so deprived of morals deserved only the greatest humiliation for his transgressions against the state.

Preparations For The Accession Ceremony at The Papal Palace Are Underway

As the believers in Europe rejoice, Cardinal Adrian Verga is solemnly preparing for the Ceremony of Accession that will mark the official beginning of his Papal Reign. It is only then that he will abandon his mortal name and take on the role of His Incredible Holiness: Pope Urban IV. Preparations for the festivities are well underway in the Torrence, and throughout the state as only citizens anxiously await for the beginning of a new era in the Sacred Kingdom.

Naturally security surrounding the event is extremely tight, especially in light of the specter of Bolshevik plot that could be launched during a Convention of Wretched Communist Souls in Carentania. A twenty mile no-fly zone has been established around the Papal Compound, affectionately refereed to as the Papal Retreat. Checkpoints are being set up across the capital city and will remain in place for several days following the Accession Ceremony.

Foreign dignitaries have been invited, although how many would be able to stand in the pure light of His Incredible Holiness without suffering unspeakable ailments is currently unknown. A spokesman for the Church Office for Foreign Interaction dismissed concerns that non-attending nations were insulting Solaren, "There are not many countries out there who possess people of the caliber necessary to withstand the presence of His Incredible Holiness. The last thing we would want is sour relations between ourselves and another foreign state because one of their diplomats died after being in the proximity of such a pure and holy individual. We live in the real world, and when it comes to international diplomacy not everything is a slight."

• A diamond mine collapsed yesterday triggering stronger calls for researching new technology and safety conditions in mines across the nation. The Papacy did not wish to comment on the issue at this time.

Fireworks lit up the sky as Pope Urban IV ascended to the throne

Today Cardinal Adrian Verga became a thing of the past, and Urban IV became our future as Solaren celebrated the accession of its newest Papal Leader: His Incredible Holiness Pope Urban IV. In a ceremony attended by millions of die-hard supporters of the Solaris Church, and watched throughout the world in both fear and awe Pope Urban IV gave his first address to the world, and his followers in a spectacular affair.

Shocking many, His Incredible Holiness not only announced that corruption existed in Solaren but, he promised remove strand of it. In fact he said the survival of the Kingdom depended on it, “We must purge the heavy strains of corruption that taint our paradise. No man can stand strong with poison in his blood, and I will make it my highest calling to rip apart the roots of corruption within our society and supplant them with the resources of strength that will serve to uphold our faith and trust.”

One of the immediate measures to tackle corruption that Urban announced was the seizure of any measure of wealth owned by Church officials. The Solari Templar had only begun the nation-wide seizure, “God is our life, and the riches of the world may only distract us. No noble man would oppose this move which will enrich their spiritual lives while enriching the people to live more comfortable lives.

He also promised the world they’d be seeing more of Solaren on the international stage, “We cannot abdicate our responsibility to lead the world on spiritual matters. Purity within one state while the world is shrouded in evil is the equivalent of sin by silence. We will not stay silent; we will speak firm and with the divine voice of God behind us.”

This followed a stunning success in foreign policy before he even ascended to the throne. After hearing news that Carentania was planning a major convention of Communists, Urban IV instructed the Church Office of Foreign Interaction to express his dissatisfaction. After several tense exchanges the Communists fell silent in terror of what Solaren’s divine war machine could do if provoked into action.

Pope Urban IV ended his speech with an impassioned call to arms after a recitation of failures previous regimes had wrought on the Kingdom, “Our nation has come to a crossroads, pushed forth by the agents of Satan who have infiltrated our nation despite the best efforts of the faithful. It is why your pockets are empty, and your children starve. It is why our infrastructure crumbles, and it is why each dawn brings only more trouble and sorrow.”

“Our leaders have failed us. They disavowed God and journeyed down the path of unrepentant sin. That ends tonight. We will rise to a new dawn of paradise; God has assured me of this. Yet, it will not be easy and the temptation of impatience and failure will taunt us every step of the way. But, give me your hearts, and give me your prayers and together, yes together we will rise to the dawn of a day many of us thought had set long time. May the Almighty bless us, and may he once more lead us towards salvation!”

Today an ungrateful Nicosia threw down the gauntlet to Solaren and now our beloved and powerful Kingdom is responding. His Holiness was deeply disturbed after Nicosia, a nation for which he prayed for, threw barbed insults at the glorious reputation of the Sacred Kingdom. Calling our faith “psychotic” and urging for a continuation of the diplomatic spat so they can be “amused,” the Nicosians showed no maturity or respect for protocol. They even went so far as to stick their fingers in the metaphorical eye of our faith by repeatedly censoring the word God.

“I have no idea where such heartlessness comes from. Perhaps the result of their Monarch being spurned the heavenly gates? I do not know. What I do know is that we will not tolerate such repugnant behavior on the international stage. Once more we must rise to the position of international police man and lay down the biblical law on those who subscribe to teachings of hatred.”

“Today I am issuing a call to the faithful throughout Europe to take blood, flesh and metal to civilian centers of Nicosia. Endow yourselves with explosives; give yourself in the name of Martyrdom. Use your body as a weapon of force in response to Nicosia’s unprovoked act of diplomatic warfare. The first four to throw themselves to death in the defense of their faith will receive treasured space in Heaven and their families will be afforded a life of means for eternity. We must terrorize Nicosia in order to teach those who would besmirch the faith and the pillars of international law that there are consequences to such ill-advised acts of foolishly. “

Following His Incredible Holiness’ announcement there were several requests at the northern border from the armed forces requesting permission to allow dozens of hardcore Solaris followers into Lorraine where they may then travel to Nicosia. Up until recently Nicosia also held warm feelings for the Church and it is the directive of the Pope that they go underground and resurface to bring harm to the Nicosian people.

We initially found this reaction hard to believe, but now we realize these are the actions of an immature and erratic nation that is truly out to destroy peace. Solaren's inflammatory remarks are responsible for this current situation. To accuse us of having a lack of maturity may be the ironic move of the century. There is no diplomatic warfare. We are merely defending peaceful nations from your government's inflammatory remarks. Solaren does not act as international policeman but as a schoolyard bully. To mention the "teachings of hatred" is surprising due to the fact Solaren is the schoolmaster of hatred.

• The Lead Story: Inquisition Begins Mass Arrests of Nicosian Citizens

As a full blown international crises looms over Europe Inquisitor Jermal put out an immediate order to begin mass arrests of all Nicosian citizens which totaled over 4,000. It is expected to be done in relative ease since the Nicosian government ordered all of their citizens to head to the embassy and airports for evacuation. Although the Inquisition refused to call it arrests, rather in an official statement it was made clear this move was for their own benefit.

"We know that those Nicosians here in Solaren share none of the blame for the belligerence of nation whose favorite past time is instigating conflict with God's chosen people. Therefore we are detaining them in an effort to protect them from journeying to what we may soon resemble a war zone. We will also make a valiant effort to provide them with work to keep themselves busy and minds off their potentially deceased relatives. Although, at this point and time financial compensation for labor is merely under consideration."

The move was blessed by His Incredible Holiness who although dismayed by the international community's combined ignorance and hatred of religion, could not be responsible for the eventual deaths of so many innocents. He has promised that once Nicosia's government has apologized for declaring a verbal war on Solaren, the 4,000 Nicosians will be released and sent home. Pope Urban IV is adamant however, that they remain in Solaren where they are safe rather than be sent into harms way.

There is talk at the Church Office for Foreign Interaction that they will seek a resolution in the Council of Nations to finance the burden of keeping 4,000 foreign citizens alive and well. There was some displeasure at the thought of leaving them outside without shelter or food when they are not hard at work. "It would be unfortunate if the international community did not rally around Solaren's charity and instead condemned these poor souls to more suffering."

We are disappointed that Serbovia, a supposed arbiter of human rights, would sanction the release of Nicosian refugees into a war-zone.
