We do indeed accept the aid offered by The Commandry, we are sorry that our media's exaggeration of the event caused frustration and confusion.

Aid Flotilla Sets Sail for Freiheit

The Commandry Naval Forces have confirmed that a major aid flotilla has set out bound for Freiheit. The flotilla is reported to be carrying thousands of tons of humanitarian aid diverted from military stockpiles along with a large staff of emergency personnel. On board the flotilla is also a group of highly trained nuclear specialists from the GSAFC Atomic Energy Corps and the Commandry Ground Forces.

According to the Navy the main focus of the relief effort will be on the devastated city of Freistadt. In particular the Commandry hopes it's nuclear investigation team will be able to determine the true cause of the nuclear events that ravaged the city. An AEC representative told the dispatch: "Well it is being reported in many venues that the explosions were caused by the sympathetic detonation of Freiheitan warheads beneath the city the AEC still does not believe there is enough evidence to rule out of the possibility that the SLBM's which struck the city were carrying low yield nuclear earth penetrating warheads. Once we are on the ground in Freistadt we aim to put this question to rest once and for all."

The flotilla is being escorted by a CNF task force lead by the carrier Kyiv and is reportedly carrying a unit of CNF Naval Infantry to provide security on the ground. The GSAFC-FAD has however emphasized that the Commandry has no military designs for Freiheit and the escort is only necessary given the state of war in the region.

Re: Aid Flotilla

Due the tense situation that is bred by the conflict and to ensure that no accidental confrontation (however unlikely) occurs during the journey of the Commandry Naval Forces Task Force Kyiv the EASTFLEET will, with the permission of the Supremem High Command and other necessary parties, provide constant location and status updates of Breotish naval forces in the area. We will also give relevant data for naval forces of the warring parties as detected by our own forces. These measures, we hope, will relegate the chance of any misfortune into the realm of impossibility.

Attached are contact details for a situation command center in FLEETCOM and the HMS Armageddon's Edge (CVN-80) the command ship of the EASTFLEET.

OOC: Does it really matter which thread I announce the fleet arriving in? My previous RP posts spell out exactly what will happen when they arrive. The news post just serves to confirm they have arrived and will begin to undertake the actions they had previously planned on undertaking. Until someone does something to shake things up my IC posts will be nothing but:

Guy 1: "Those things we said we would do we are doing"

Guy 2: "Indeed"

CNF Recalls Aid Flotilla

The Commandry Naval Forces have made the surprise announcement this hour that the aid flotilla bound for Freistadt has been recalled and will return to the Commandry immediately without ever making port in the city. According to a CNF representative the decision was motivated by the rapid escalation of the conflict in the wartorn country, it is simply no longer safe to operate there.

Foreign Affairs Director General-Feldmarschall Vasili Malyar expressed his "deep regret" that the Commandry was unable to assist the beleaguered people of Freistadt and condemned the Sarmatians harshly. "The destruction of Freistatd was the act of a butcher and a madman. There is no place in Europe for such barbarity."

SHC Recognizes Jurzan as Legitimate Government of the former Akhalistkhe

The Supreme High Command of the Armed Forces of the Commandry have reportedly reached a unanimous agreement on the recognition of the Jurzan government following a special meeting. Shortly thereafter the SHC issued SHC Order No. 1637 officially declaring the recognition of the Jurzan government by the Armed Forces of the Commandry and directing the General Staff to make the necessary diplomatic arrangements.

An official statement by the Commander of GSAFC Foreign Affairs Directorate is expected shortly but the GSAFC Public Information Directorate has already released a statement on the Order: "The end is nigh for the racist regime in Akhalistikhe because today the revolution of the peoples anger is upon them. Their first and last line of defense, the rotten political edifice of Apartheid, which has inflicted untold suffering on the masses is burning like tinder's in the furnace of their wrath. There is no hope for them now. The Commandry salutes the brave soldiers of Jurzan because they fight for a better world."

The diplomatic staff of the former Akhalistkhe have reportedly been given 48 hours to leave the Commandry before their embassy is seized. Akhalistkhe passport holders have likewise been given 72 hours to leave the country before they are deported to Jurzan. The GSAFC Finance Directorate has announced it has executed a freeze of assets belonging to individuals and organizations associated with the government of former Akhalistkhe. Those assets are set to be seized following a review by the Finance Directorate.

Generalissimus, SHC, GASFC Redefining Grand Strategy

Greater Sarmatia is out, strategic encirclement is in. That's the message from top Officers in the SHC and GSAFC. The detente with Sarmatia is over and there are increasing signs of a revival of the LFS alliance as a political and military force. For the Commandry it seems everything old really is new again.

Well the political fallout of the breakdown in relations between the Commandry and Sarmatia is only beginning to be felt at street level at the highest levels of Command it's already seismic. Two senior SHC officers, Vice Marshal Yuri Linnik and General-Feldmarschall Pavlo Yermilov, recently resigned citing poor health. Sources say the two were major advocates of closer relations with Sarmatia behind closed doors and submitted their resignations to the Generalissimus at the direction of the Adjutant General himself.

Well the shock waves may still be reverberating through the officer corps the Armed Forces are reportedly already working to adjust their strategy at the highest levels. Special meetings of the SHC and GSAFC and their subordinate bodies have reportedly packed the schedule of high ranking officers. And well the details of such high level planning is top secret the Dispatch did learn that the Commandry was seriously considering "aggressively" expanding ties with with independent powers to "avoid strategic encirclement".

RusEnergy Pledges to Boost Oil Exports to Belmont

CEO Isaak Meller of state energy corporation RusEnergy promised today at a press conference that the energy giant was ready to boost production and exports to Belmont, which was recently hit by a Talemantine oil embargo. Meller told reporters: "RusEnergy and the Armed Forces value ties with the Kingdom highly, when we see it is under an economic attack we have no choice but to act. The SHC and GSAFC are 100% behind us in our plan to boost exports to Belmont."

Meller also condemned Talemantros for what he called playing politics with oil and threatening the stability of the global economy. "What Talemaniki has done is totally unacceptable. Oil is the foundation of the European economy and investors are counting on a stable supply to sustain growth. If major producers turn off the tap every time they have a minor dispute it would be chaos. The Talemantine government needs to grow up and think long and hard about it's duties as a major oil producer in the global economy."

Meller did not disclose how much production would be boosted by saying the final figures were still under consideration pending consultation with Belmont to determine it's petroleum needs. He did emphasize that RusEnergy had ample capacity to make up any probable shortfall.

MINISTÈRE DES AFFAIRES ÉTRANGÈRES
LE ROYAUME DE BELMONT

11th August, 2010

The Belmontien-Kyivian friendship has long been considered an important branch of our foreign policy and today, Kyiv has shown itself to be a committed friend to Belmont. Though the Talemantine embargo doesn't affect us much since most of our oil comes from Hajr, Sarmatia and Kyiv, the very gesture shown by the Kyivian government and RusEnergy is enough to cement our ties even further.

Her Majesty Queen Diana I has, herself, asked me to convey her sincere gratitude for the gesture and Her Excellency Premier Shahrazad Martinique has sent her thanks and regards to all in Kyiv, especially Mr. Isaak Meller.

Jean-Jacques Villevan
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belmont

Commandry's Most Wanted Man Escapes

A shocking news story this hour as we have learned that political terrorist Vasiliy Yakovich, self-proclaimed founder and leader of the political-extremist "National Alliance Party" has reportedly escaped from a prisoner transfer train in Sibir. According to information from the Interior Forces Yakovich apparently made his escape while the train was making a scheduled stop in Neryungri on it's way to the maximum security prison at Lake Elgygytgyn. There was no evidence of an armed struggle and investigators are reportedly focusing on the possibility his escape was aided by sympathizers or bribery among the trains guards.

The NAP seemed finished two years ago when following a series of high-profile terrorist incidents allegedly carried out by the group it found itself on the receiving end of a massive crackdown. The groups leaders were hunted down and captured or killed resisting the authorities, culminating in Yakovich himself. Leaderless and hounded at every turn the NAP all but disappeared.

Yakovich was subject of a high profile trial that found him guilty on all counts, netting him 50,000 Lashes, 1000 years in prison and 13 death sentences. His execution was to be carried out at the super-secure Lake Elgygytgyn prison deep in Sibir. It was on his way there he made his escape.

His escape is not only a major setback for the armed forces but raises disturbing questions about just how much of the NAP is still active in the Commandry. While it may be premature to declare an NAP revival it is clear Yakovich can still muster some degree of influence even from prison. The Interior Forces has already vowed to recapture Yakov and deliver him to justice and we can expect similar pronouncements from many officials in the days to come.

We will follow this story as it develops

Support the Revolutionaries of North Sinhai!

Today the representatives of the Public Information Directorate unveiled their newest citizens awareness campaign: "Victory on the Southern Front!". According to the PID the campaign is "Part a call to action and part informative. We aim to mobilize the support of the citizens while ensuring they are informed fully about the ongoing struggle against communist politicists in Sinhai and what the fate of Sinhai means for the Commandry."

According to informed sources Victory on the Southern Front! was conceived under orders from the SHC after PID researchers the average Slavian had "minimal awareness" of the Sinhai civil war. Well the fighting in the seemingly far away country may be far from the public conscious at the moment it's outcome is vital to the future of the Commandry and the region says the PID. A representative told the dispatch: "Sinhai, like the Commandry exists at the fringes of the Oikawan Empire, the most dangerous political clique in Europe. Until now Sinhai has remained beneath the iron heel of communist bureaucrats as we ourselves once were. But today there is a historic opportunity, a chance for the people of Sinhai to overthrow the political order and liberate themselves. The Commandry must do whatever it can to aid them, but without the support of our citizenry who must man the frontlines of every struggle we cannot succeed."

Victory on the Soutern Front! will also see the PID continue to expand it's focus on new media. Well staples like television, radio and print will continue to play a role the PID will also work to spread the word through the internet, cellular phones and other non-traditional mediums. The PID has also confirmed a Sinhai centered special of long running action-adventure series "Spear Point" and a Sinhai downloadable content for popular free online shooter "Commandry Ground Forces" will be released as a tie-ins the campaign.

Generalissimus Schedules Extraordinary Leadership Conference

Unexpected developments today as a spokesperson of the SHC reported that the Generalissimus has ordered the General Convocation of the Armed Forces of the Commandry (GCAFC) to convene in one months time. The GCAFC is a rarely used extraordinary council that brings together the entire senior leadership of the officer corps to resolve "Issues of great importance to the nation above and beyond the authority of the SHC and GSAFC". It has only been called twice in the Commandry's history.

The first, and best known, Convocation was called in 1987 to announce the end of the Slavian Republic and proclaim the beginning of the Commandry of Kyiv and Novgorod. The second Convocation was called in 1995 following the death of the Second Generalissimus Fedir Kravchenko when the question of succession nearly plunged the country into civil war.

What could have prompted the Generalissimus to call the third in a time of relative peace remains a complete mystery. That question has already touched off rampant speculation on the street, on the net and in the markets. The NSX took a nosedive following the announcement and continued in free fall until the end of the trading day, closing at it's lowest in more than a year. Well the sudden dive is considered a panicky overreaction that will soon correct itself by most analysts many of those same analysts have warned investors to expect ongoing instability while the question remains unanswered.

The West Erupts

Western Europe sleeps no more as war breaks out between the Kingdom of Belmont and the Socialist Republic of Coronado. The Kingdom launched what it characterizes as a pre-emptive strike on the Socialist Republic, Belmontian bombers crossed the border in the early morning hours to hit targets across Coronado. Reports are still coming in but early evidence suggests the Kingdom targeted socialists air defenses and air fields in an attempt to secure early air superiority.

The GSAFC has further revealed the Commandry has come to possess intelligence which indicates that Belmont has begun a large scale mobilization of it's ground forces and intends to escalate the war with Coronado. The Foreign Affairs Directorate has condemned Belmonts conduct so far saying Belmonts war-aims are "unclear" and suggested Belmont's surprise assault had destabilized the region. The FAD however stopped short of condemning the declaration of war saying: "The Commandry at this time takes no position on the legitimacy of dispute between Belmont and Coronado, we do however protest the method by which Belmont has chosen to conduct it."

Belmonts ambassador to the Commandry has reportedly been summoned by the Supreme High Command to: "Provide a detailed explanation of the Kingdoms decision to engage in war with Coronado, the decision to launch a surprise attack which has destabilized the western region, Belmonts ultimate aims in the war and it's plan for bringing hostilities to a definite close when and if those aims are achieved."

Concurrent with the eruption of hostilities between Belmont and Coronado the Frescanian government has announced it intends to enforce a naval blockade of the Long Sea, ostensibly to prevent the conflict from escalating. The Foreign Affairs Directorate has condemned Frescanian actions harshly, saying: "Frescanias irresponsible actions have, far from containing the conflict between Belmont and Coronado only inflamed tensions further. The Commandry regards unfettered access to the open seas as among it's sovereign rights and will not tolerate any attempt to interfere with the transit of it's commercial or military vessels. By order of the Generalissimus and the SHC no ship flying the flag of the Commandry is to submit to searches or boarding by foreign navies well in the international waters of the Long Sea, the CNN has been authorized to take any steps necessary to safeguard the neutrality of our shipping." The FAD went on to state the Commandry has no intention of involving itself in the conflict but will not under any circumstances recognize Frescanian sovereignty over the long sea.
