Byzantine Empire?! On my doorstep? Come on guys, if you are limit who can settle in certain locations based upon ethnicity and culture, why the hell are Byzantines in freaking Scando-Germania? Why can't we have random shit in Touyou or Himyar? Huh? Byzantine Empire ought to be placed near Taley. Case closed. Let's have some consistency in rulings.

I completely agree.

Byzantium can mean anything in NS Europe. It can, for example, mean "Angry Hairy Vikings". Why not? Let's see what the player says whenever he bothers posting!

No, not cool. Reinventing words is retarded. Hey guys, in my country Republic means Kingdom! or I'm the Soviet Union and that really means I have Spanish Capitalists! No. If anything people just need to come up with original names and not steal from the real world. Don't matter what his name is and what his people are so long as it makes sense.

The ONLY valid comparison you have in there is Soviet = Spanish. After all, why not? Soviet just means "Council", not really a nationality to begin with ;)

Soviet is a Russian word, thus being strange for a Spanish people. Plus, the example was Soviet Union, which was a RL nation. But we're off beat and off base here. The point is, reinventing things is generally opposed in NSEurope and always has been. We stick to things that make sense so it doesn't require people to wiki every little thing to figure out what is what because we cannot trust our natural instincts in regards to knowledge. If everything I know might not be true, then we're all left in a very compromised position where we have to relearn or reread a lot of pointless knowledge to even play the game.

Gotta say that the name 'Byzantine Empire' makes me think that he really should be near Taley and a rival to Taley- but in the end a nation can be called whatever the player wants, so long as the IC consquences stay IC. If you want to be the Pony Kingdom of Equestria; people are probably going to think the nation isn't governed properly or something. But it's still the player's choice in those matters, I feel.

Well, the problem comes down to etymology. Where did he acquire the name Byzantine from as a Nordic speaking nation. Do they even HAVE those sounds in that language? Swedish is the closest we have to it, so Coro, confirm or deny whether they have "Biz" "ahn" "tine". If they do, then fine. If not, I'm skeptical.

I have no issue other people reinventing things a tad if it means meaningful roleplay and interaction. Anyway, NSEurope isn't real life Europe and never was, so we just have to suspend our RL knowledge a little.

Who says that we can't have imaginary Nords who are not based on RL Nords? Why not Skyrim dragon speak? Freeform RP! Anything can be anything!

Alot of things came up in the past several weeks which needed to be taken care of which took longer than I had expected. I am sorry about the delayed updates but there will be one out tomorrow.

In the meantime, take a look at the link below and tell me what you think.

Vintage Betty Draper Yelled This Yell: WAAAH!

One fresh spring, a quarter to eleven to the hour nearest midnight, it was Anglo-American hour on the IRC. Here there was a great commotion. In this event, this noticeable surprise was realized. Our map is not well edited and not well updated. Together, the collective American minds, with some decided Anglo influence, declared a promise, a declaration of new order. A rallying call that our map should be better updated, better up kept, and better maintained. What we did not realize at the time was that these three things all essentially mean the same thing. It was felt afterwards that can only justify our cause in that these thirteen colonies of the United Kingdom of Grea —Ahem, that these fine players of our community need a solution to the map making debacle and that we issue a challenge for our keepers, the volunteers, the administration, to solve the greatest problem of our modern times, a solution to the map making query: How can we obtain a consistent, fair and honest map that is both professional and timely? And, so should our keepers find this query appropriate, we should come to common sense and common belief on a new future for our betterment of the mapping community of our very own establishment that we all hold so dear. So say we all!

I'm sure Khalistan has his or her reasons for departing our company, and we value Khali as a contributor in his presence. I do agree that a change must be considered though, considering we have some new nations waiting to get on and stale nations that deserve to be taken off. Perhaps the mod team should deliberate, if this is an important issue to you and others.

I believe this might be an important issue for the mods to consider, it has been quite a while.

As long as nobody tries to lol-revamp Germania during some lol-map-remake and ruin my efforts spent on the , I'm fine with whoever it is who volunteers to make maps. And I won't even cause a drama or troll the mapmaker!

I second this concern out of respect for Wendmark's impressive effort and because I hugely profited from it.
