(Rivadavia) To the surprise of many, thousands of people in Rivadavia have come out on the streets to welcome the football team of Auskighinee (Oscogenia), with more than 10,000 lining on the Avenida de la Victoria, the city's central thoroughfare, as the northern team has passed from the airport to their hotel. While for many it has been seen as very surprising event, especially as Auskighinee isn't really a Tiburanian nation, and has been invited as part of the strenghtening of bonds program initiated by Presidents Marissa de Herrera and Franklin Fontana, it must be noted that there is a long history between Rivadavia and Griani. In the aftermath of the 1929 crisis, when Corrientes fell from being one of the world's riches countries, Rivadavian expats have been noted being the first significant group of Tiburanians moving to the north, towards Auskighinee.

(Embarcadero) President Pablo Prats has held a press conference today, with members of the government, and surprisingly, Maximiliano González, the manager of Los Mangos, the national football team of Monterrey. The President applauded the social campaign of the football federation, and has assured the team that there will be funds for their travel expenses for the away matches. Even more importantly, the president announced that with a part aid from Corrientes, the National Liberation Junta will continue the anti-banditry and anti-drug campaigns, and will provide a financial bonus of 1200 Quris (300 EM) to every cartel member who wishes to turn its back on violence and lawlessness and turns in his weapons.

After using the National Liberation Army to destroy much of the cartel and gang power and to push them from population centres and main routes of communication and transport, the government wishes to offer the coup de grace to banditry in Monterrey, offering the equivalent of 6 weeks of minimum wage for every weapon they surrender to the authorities. The government also announced that they will offer an amnesty to those surrendering, not prosecuting them for their past actions in the mandate or warring days.

(PALMIRA) Los Tricolores have ended their spiritual retreat as ordered by Coach Xavier Santander and returned to Palmira to the thunderous cheers of Josefino supporters. In a press conference immediately following their return, observers noted a marked change in the demeanor of the players as they answered questions about their training regimen.

Team Captain Rodrigo Leon Avila, when asked what changed, replied that the team had been "reminded of their roots; we were children when we were watching heroes like Coach Santander bring glory to San José, and we looked to them as role models and, in a way, saints. It's very humbling, being shown that from the opposite perspective when talking with the refugees and helping them out, and we're going to take this match with Los Torrientes very seriously. They are an outstanding team, as are we, and we both need to set the tone by playing the best fútbol we can for the tournament to come, win or lose, to ensure that this helps the most people possible."

(Callao) The Presidential Administration has issued an invite for President Jose Constanza of San Jose to visit Callao for the 1st leg match between Corrientes and San Jose. The invite is part of a greater effort to build better relationships between the two countries and the arrival of the Josefino president will be in parallel also with the meeting of some Josefino investors with representatives of PETROCOR, to discuss the current issues of the Occidental oil industry and the local markets, in the wake of the Tarusan civil war. The meeting is expected to be informal, with the two presidents enjoying the football match and afterwards supper together.

(PALMIRA) In reciprocation to the Herrera Administration of @Corrientes inviting El Presidente José David Constanza to Callao to watch the match between Corrientes and San José, El Presidente has formally invited La Presidenta Marissa de Herrera to Palmira, both to watch the match and to discuss the deepening of further bilateral relations in respect to cultural exchanges and closer cooperation re: the refugees from @Gran-Occidentia. El Presidente has praised the Correntines for "doing so much to bring together Occidentia and the world in solidarity. The great game of fútbol is unparalleled in the positivity it brings the people, and la Conspiración de Explotación Global has no way to snuff out this flame of freedom and joy."

(Callao) Hearts have been broken today in Callao, after San Jose won 2-1 against Corrientes, after the latter dominated the match for the first half, only being equalised by the 60th minute. Torrientes tried to fight back and even scored a goal, only to have it annulled as the referee called an offside. The match continued with 1-1 and received 3 minutes of extra time, and right at the very end, the Josefinos scored the winning goal. People have been seen marching out of the stadium crying, with the whole city covered into an atmosphere like a funeral.

(Callao) President Marissa de Herrera has seen the match last night together with her husband, Vice-President Julio Moreno Navarro and the Josefino President Jose Constanza, which was joined by Correntine actress Maria Alvarado. It seems that at the very end, by the '93 minute goal, the Josefino president was jubiland, while the Correntines, including señorita Alvarado, have entered a state of stupor. A lot of pressure existed on the national football team and a lot of hope and expectations continue to lay on them.

(HAMMABORG) The Copa currently occurring on the other side of the Thaumantic has captured the viewing attention of Hanseatic hearts and minds who recently watched San Jose and Corrientes battle it out on the pitch. Viewing parties have popped out across the Republics, and with Die Kogge currently training in San Jose, they've drawn some support in the Hanseatics as well via some cultural exchange. Rum is on the menu in many clubs and bars across the country, as the official Die Kogge viewing parties are expecting over 60k supporters in each of the major cities across the Hanseatics, notably Hammaborg, Hertha, Frankfurt, Le Vieux Bourg, Jena, Uuslossa, and even Bécs-Altstadt's Hanseatic Quarter, who has notably seen two of their own called up to Die Kogge.

(PALMIRA) Coach Xavier Santander, when asked about the prior critiques and mocking of his taking the team on a spiritual retreat and solitary practice prior to their victory over @Corrientes, both within San José and abroad, he replied "Every team's methods to prepare for a game are different, because every team's needs prior to a game are different. It was of course a risk, the fans and critics certainly weren't wrong about that, but a calculated one, and I am fortunate that the team responded so well to make the risk worth it. As long as you know your players you will know the best way to get the most out of them in any game, and repeating the strategies of others won't always work." This last remark is seen as a subtle rebuke of Coach Lousteau's current plan to train Los Torrientes without outside interference, a perceived mirroring of Coach Santander's own strategy prior to the first match, but when asked to clarify this remark, Coach Santander declined to respond.

(Valls) Ebrian authorities activate Plan Rojo as Tarusan Civil War spills over and reaches the Meridian Sea. With the recent fights between the authorities in Kremlyov and Kispest in the Bonaventura Bay, the Ebrian authorities are fearful that there will be many collateral victims, as the Bay is an important avenue of trade between the Meridian Union nations. As part of the plan, the Ebrian Royal and Catholic Navy has been put on high alert, running near continuous patrol missions along the national waters and the economic exclusion zone of the Crown, so as to ensure that the merchant ships are escorted. The plan also is set to prepare for a great number of refugees, especially from Csengia, with the authorities expecting about 500,000 refugees if the war moves to be fought on land. This is also juxtaposed to the reality of the tightly sealed border between Ebria and Csengia, which has been described by some to be one of the most guarded borders in Gallia.

(PALMIRA) With the second matchup against Los Torrientes fast approaching, local authorities in the capital city of San José have announced an increased presence of law enforcement centered around the stadium in anticipation of increased rowdiness regardless of the result. This has been authorized by El Presidente José David Constanza who stated "while I know we Josefinos are respectful fútbol fans, we're also passionate ones, and we need to ensure the safety and security of our guests and our own people from any and all bad actors, no doubt sent over by la Conspiración de Explotación Global to dampen the high spirits of all involved. The Correntinos may be our rivals, but they are also our friends, and no matter what happens tomorrow we must treat them with dignity and respect."

(PIRAMIDA) Unconfirmed reports of Kremlyov being shut off from command and control infrastructure and installations in the Central Military District has begun to circulate around the web from citizenry bypassing the information firewall around the Empire. If the rumors are indeed true it would potentially mean the country is split in half with forces loyal to Konstantin in the West on the Rikord Archipelago and potentially more forces loyal to his cause in the sprawling sparsely populated central part of the country, or yet another player in the civil war has arisen to attempt and seize control of the Empire, none of the rumors or speculation can yet be confirmed.

(Guatapé) Sports Magazine once again has the displeasure of reporting on one big whiff of a match, why instead of football, we can call it whiffball. That's certainly what it looked like as the Federation Soccer team faced off against the Hanseatic league team here in Guatapé, San Jose, where 50,000 people from various countries watched the most boring game of whiffball (soccer) to have ever been seen in the history of sports. The Federation will go on to play another match against Hansa, in what will hopefully be a more eventful game for soccer's fledgling fandom back home in the Federation. The Federation Soccer League had hoped that by putting all of it's best players from across the league's teams all into one team could inject a bit of excitement back home for soccer, a sport that has barely caught on in a country rife with big money making national leagues in baseball, hockey and North Westermen football. So far, the venture has not panned out.

(Palmira) The Correntine national football team has arrived in Palmira for their 2nd leg match against the Josefinos. They have been joined by President Marissa de Herrera, which will be at the match too. The president has been received by the Josefino President and the national guard, and after a short meeting has visited the national team to raise their morale. His match is currently one of the biggest unknowns in Corrientes, as very few know what to expect. It is believed that the first one was a wake up call towards less pride and more efficient playing.

(Callao) With the first 2nd leg matches played, we already know who will go forward into the 2nd round: Gran Occidentia, Implaria, Caria and San Jose. The Oscogenians, Ebrians, Correntines and Pelasgians have been eliminated from the world cup. Telecor stated that more than 200 million people worldwide were watching the broadcast of the match between Corrrientes and San Jose, making it one of the most watched football matches in history. After a 2-1 defeeat at home and a 2-2 draw in Palmira, coach Fermin Lousteau has bitterly announced that he will resign from his position.

(PALMIRA) The capital city's mood is one of confusion and dread after Josefino security forces in Palmira rapidly imposed a curfew that cut the celebrations short following the assassination attempt on Correntino goalkeeper Fabio Gomez, a curfew that has just been lifted. This follows the release a statement indicating that no wider conspiracy has been uncovered, and that the assailant whose name remains undisclosed to the public has been confirmed to have acted alone. Nonetheless seven additional suspects during the curfew had been detained for suspicious activity prior the curfew, and as of now only two, both Correntino nationals, remain in custody following extensive questioning. El Presidente's office has confirmed that talks are currently in place with the Correntino government regarding future extradition of these suspects so they may be further questioned and tried for any crimes.

(NAUPLIA) Following the default of the Government of Caria on payment of certain bonds to domestic private bondholders, the Independent Public Revenue Administration has admitted that the Republic is insolvent. This comes in the wake of prosecutorial investigations into the alleged deliberate misrepresentation of public finances by both elected officials and public servants in the Finance Ministry and Bank of Caria—both with a view to maintaining public and international confidence in view of coming elections.

(CAITEKURKE) The Thaumantic Order reiterated its neutrality in the wider Tarusan conflict by offering a meeting place in the Eivar Islands for any level of Tarusan leadership at any time. Later on Thursday Nieveland's Revolutionary Guard announced the creation of a Provisional White Helm Brigade to be led by promoted Colonel Hely who led the first Nievish White Helm company last year. Thaumantic policy officials cited interdiction of human trafficking rings blossoming in Gallo-Germania as the primary reason for a Nievish White Helm presence, however, European Forum partners have not endorsed Nievish theories that these trafficking schemes relate directly to piracy acts in the north as part of a post-delegationist scheme.

(PALMIRA) With news of the tragic death of Correntino goalkeeper Fabio Gomez in the Palmira Presidential Hospital, despite the efforts of Josefino doctors operating on him for 18 hours, El Presidente's office has ordered a national day of mourning for the goalie, with the flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Gomez. El Presidente also put out a short statement on Twatter expressing his regret and condolences for Gomez' passing, and offering an apology to the nation of @Corrientes for what transpired. Coach Xavier Santander also put out a statement on behalf of the Josefino national team, Los Tricolores, expressing their regrets and sadness for the "loss of an athlete of the highest caliber, who pushed us to the limit and forced us to give everything we had to overcome our greatest rivals. We pledge to honor him and Los Torrientes as we press forward in this tournament, and never forget that though they are our foes on the pitch, they are our brothers and comrades off of it above all."

(MONTE PLATA) Nieveland Football's Revolutionary Guard team manager Trent Haepswait was declared dead in Monte Plata (San Jose) on this morning after the squad's loss to Tianlong. Thaumantic Order authorities are not challenging domestic investigators and rather published Haepswait's suicide letter faxed to Caitekurke which wrote: "I cannot survive this failure because a true Niomonnach manager would have never allowed an Engwahlian on a Nievish team, we had 4 and 2 Eivarn's." Thaumantic Order authorities have called the late Haepswait's divisive language "abhorrent and deserving of the ashes in which he will lay".
