With the loss or extended absence of much of our staff, we are looking to improve upon our ability to not only assist, but also retain members with an active presence of forum staff. The following is a brief description of each position and how to apply:

Wiki Mod/Engineer: This Moderator will be responsible for managing the wiki front page, organizing lists and categories, and encouraging wiki activity in the Cooperative Corner Forum.

War/World Stage Mod: This position essentially means that you will operate as a war mod: decide with other war mods about disputes in conflicts, rule on the use of certain weaponry, the acceptance of military deployments and so on.

Recruitment & Orienteering Mod: This Moderator will be responsible for improving new player guides, answering questions that new players might have, and potentially work as an ambassador to other communities if we choose to expand the brand.

These positions are open to all. If you are interested and think you have what it takes please PM Oikawa, Cantignia and Kyiv explaining briefly why you are interested. If possible provide a relevant example(s) of your experience or potential.

I won't ever apply for a position, but if you'd like my help in anything I'm always willing to help out if asked.

Ditto, significantly as I don't have the time and so on, but I'm happy to make small contributions.

I might do well as a world stage mod. I know a lot about technology and it's ins and outs (especially aerospace - one of the most contentious areas). But frankly I've never been a mod before and I'm sure there's someone more qualified! :p

I'd say you were/are qualified, Ivernia. If not for that, then for Recruiting.

I -might- be interested in Recruiting mod or World Stage Mod, and I know enough about wikis to help out there, but I don't think I'd be the best choice for that.

I know our friendly neighborhood Belmont is an extensive and detailed user of the wiki, is it not possible to do the co-mod thing for the wiki between the esteemed Belmont and myself?

Jurzy I don't think there's that much to do on the wiki that it'd require two people. I think one person should be able to handle everything.

PS: Thanks for the compliment, I'm a bit OCD about the wiki :p

A lot of you do a lot of wiki'n but the problem I always see is disorganized code followed by strange presentational mistakes on most players wikis. I'd like to be able to see you all mimic the look and feel of wikipedia.org's national pages. That should be a goal for all our national wikis to look like that.

So say, look at ( ) and get your national wiki page to look just like it in style. Currently all the wiki mod volunteers haven't done that. Pull it off and then I might be on board with you guys on a talent based level.

Yeah, there's no reason the wiki mod shouldn't be working towards bringing national wikis under a refined template.

We still haven't received any volunteers for the recruiting/retainer mod. I understand it's not quite as glorious as being a warmod, but consider how important this role will be to filling the forum and the game with more players in the future. Out of all of these, I actually think this will be the most important mod.

I'm not exactly sure what this entails. Some people take it upon themselves to ''recruit'', head over to NSE RMB and spam the boards telling people to join - which promptly gets ignored.
I would apply for this role if I had a good plan/strategy for the role.

Well, we're going to add a 'welcome center' to the top of the forum (probably as a subforum of announcements) where we'll place all of our new player guides, links, and the introduce yourself thread. The job of this mod will be improving these guides, answering questions that new players might have, and engaging them in a friendly way so they might choose to return.

That actually sounds quite interesting.

Actually, I've mimicked real life wiki pages as closely as I can. The information's order is almost the same and I obviously can't calculate certain things and somethings wouldn't apply to the 1950s. My coat of arms is irrelevant and only there to keep a shape, it'll be replaced with the real one eventually. I've even tried to keep the categories the same.

Also, if you look to Sikandara's page, he kept a very similar style. I'd say we kept loyal to RL wikipedia rather well.

Unless I'm not understanding what you mean. Plus, the template that is provided is outdated and fairly ugly in my opinion. It obviously needs updating, but in all honesty, I think we've done fine with getting our pages to look like RL pages.

Ahem...

There are templates on these pages which really can be used by anyone, and have indeed been done so, and are based entirely on wikipedia. My guiding principle in wiki endeavors is always mimicking wikipedia's style. Heck, I'm the one who got the military infobox from wikipedia for Eurowiki, as well as the equipment table.

I agree with Jurzy that the existing template is not particularly pleasing to the eye and needs updating. But achieving uniformity is something even I have long thought about. Additionally, the wiki needs a logo, which is something that should be done without further delay. Then, there are some pages that I myself have seen, of nations which do not exist anymore where the entire text has been entirely deleted by their players, who have requested deletion of the page. Marquette being one example.

Another infobox that I have my eye on creating is the conflict one, which can certainly come in handy for any war RP.

I like a lot of your work... but...

Your national page does not match wikipedia.org. See:
Your personal page does not match wikipedia.org. See:
Your provincial page does not match wikipedia.org. See:

I can go on. I understand that you do a good job though. My question was more how identical can you get it to be? I feel it can be done in a significantly better manner. I see your body of work, but I'd like to see you do your best to say create your own formatting to match the wikipedia articles I've shown. I know I can. I want to see you do it. You do a great job making and working on a great deal of things, your output is quite astonishing. But that doesn't mean I like the coding.

Believe Arendaal put out quite a bit of work, and she even got powers in wiki with ErAn iirc. That hasn't made either of them great at their job though. Making is different than great coding.

So I wanted to see if you could get your current national page to match Canada's. So please show us that you can is what I'm asking.

I don't have time atm to change the national page, but take a look at this old page of mine, there is that red strip which would be removed eventually, but this is more or less the exact template of the provinces. But the codes are not easy on the eyes.

But Coro if you can get the template better, why don't you, since I'm not an HTML programmer there are limits to what I can do. Whenever I attempted to fix the nation infobox I found much to my dismay that to get the wikipedia look, it is not a straightforward process.
