Almost as if I had predetermined your thought process, here is a more or less *more* detailed map of Sinhai.

Rivers are known as Maenam in the west, and Lam in the east. (edit: bah, missed a river, ...grumble... there fixed)

I was originally going to post a map of my country here that I made... but it sucks. So instead here are some dancing bannannas.

:banana::banana::shock::banana::banana:

If anyone would liek to teach me how to make decent looking maps I would give them the contract of this dancing bannannas team.

I guess this is the closest we have to a thread on mapping. I'm looking for some advice on how to take and turn it into a modern city map with districts and major arteries and stuff.

I searched for a tutorial in the Cartographer's Guild (where I found the tutorial for the geographic map), but their city maps are all for fantasy and medieval style settings. Not really what I'm looking for.

Any of you experienced mapmakers have any suggestions for me to continue my adventure into the amazing art of cartography?

it's designed for a world map so there are parts I skipped and parts I changed. Like I used a smaller color range so as to avoid putting snow or desert on my tropical island. I also skipped past adding continental shelf and snow-capping the mountains.

Yeah that's a good guide. But for a city map, I'd really suggest going google style instead of trying to overlay the streets atop terrain the color of jungle. Afterall, asphalt is only green in San Francisco, where they paint the cement to pretend they have grass.
