I don't know how long this should be so I'll just write as much as I can.

I don't like writing about myself online for obvious reason so I'll just say stuff that's not too personnal if that's OK. My name is James. I am a Canadian born and bred in Toronto, Ontario, though my family has origins from Montréal, Quebec and Edmonton, Alberta. I'm 16 and I want to be a lawyer. One of the reasons I picked this type of games up was to learn more about how Nations work, but I think Civics and Citizenship at School has taken care of that. My nation is only 5 million people but I will do my best to be an active member.

I found NationStates a couple of days ago after searching through the forums of another game I play, CyberNations. I got bored of CyberNations because it needed a lot of stuff and attention and wars constantly happened so I decided today to create my nation. Being kind of a leftist I always thought of what the world would be like if the Soviet Republics hadn't fallen and Perestroika had succeded so I decided to create a Socialist nation. After searching through nations that were once Soviet and others that weren't I read about the Finnish Civil War and the Winter War. I decided to play a mixed Russian-Finnish nation with elements of a Socialist and a Western nation. I also read about the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic so I decided to make it a Federal nation. Kind of like the RSFSR after reforms to democratize it but without collapsing.

Also the Democratic Republic of Jenesia told me to telegram somebody called Ivernia about what he called RolePlay. I didn't find that nation after searching both at Google and in NationStates. Can I still join or do I have to telegram someone else? In cybernations to join Alliances we had to submit forms and pass an academy. Do I have to do that here too?

I have a déjà-vu feeling after seeing your post, Karolnia, but I don't know why. Anyway, welcome here. There is a thread with FAQs, and I believe also a thread with information for newcomers, but I don't know where exactly. Ivernia is on the forum here. On NationStates, you may have to search for "Padraigh". It is not needed to submit forms and pass academies here, but some self-study comes in handy ;) We are RPing in the 1950s.

ADDITION: This is the thread with information for newcomers: .

Thanks :) Maybe you have another Canadian player or another Finnish nation?

EDIT: Padraigh doesn't match anything either but that's OK I guess. What are those Hidden Content links over there?

One of our Admins is from Canada, but he's in Bangkok or something for special tourism. We do have a Finnish player too, but he hasn't been posting this year - he just uses our IRC channel.

If you haven't seen the map, then here is a link to that:

So there's are world. I do not know what you mean with Hidden Content links, but if you have more specific questions I or someone else could help you answer them.

That's nice to hear. Once he comes back I'll make sure to talk to him.

I don't know what you did but now I can see links and images. Previously it said "Hidden Content" and said I can't access Links and Images.

Just to be certain, how many Socialist Nations are there on the map and where exactly?

That awnsered my question quite well actually. I don't mean to offend, but isn't that song a little ancient?

Do you know any other fitting Bangkok songs? But yeah, Zeek is a throwback to a simpler (like Forrest Gump simple) age.

That reminds me of my mother's musical preferences. Could anybody explain what a Paternal Autocrat and a Post Delegationist are? I want to include them in my factions but it's kind of hard when I don't know what they are.

Paternal Autocrat is where the power of the country is placed on one man and his personality, and not really the ideology or system of law, it is his word - the Father (paternal) that dictates.

Post-Delegationism is an in-game, or unique to our forum ideology that I am not comfortable trying to explain with confidence. But basically it seems like a perpetual revolution of libertarianism, it seeks the eventual destruction of the state. So they are fighting and toiling for a world after delegation from leaders, or delegationism.

They guy who writes it, @ , can probably link you to an appropriate post or describe it himself.

Hmm, Paternal Autocrat sounds kind of interesting. Is it too late for me to switch? If you don't have too many of them that is.

Yeah of course you can switch to whatever you want, you're not on the map and even if you were we are very liberal in regards to letting people switch things around and do what they want. We are only particular about people sticking to things when they are involved in an IC RP that involves war or some significant stakes for other existing nations.
