Interior Army Gets Makeover

The Angliarique Interior Army’s assets will undergo a major restructuring and revitalisation programme, in the aim of national defence. The Angliarique Permanent Government introduced this changed after convening for a rare session at the Manor of Valeria to discuss military affairs.

The Angliarique Land Force, the ‘Unified Force’ will continue conscription efforts, as factories are encouraged and subsidised to manufacture armaments. The entire conscription and weapons project is estimated to cost 20 billion Dahls (or 6.6 billion EM).

The Angliarique Air Force, the 'Airborne Vanguard' will undergo a revitalisation programme involving a process of rapid rearmament and replacement of old aircraft with modern equipment. The project is to cost an estimated 43 billion Dahls (or 14.3 billion EM).

The Angliarique Navy, the ‘Crown Armada’ will see the complete replacement of vessels aged more than 7 years. It is expected to cost 60 billion Dahls (or 20 billion EM). The project is rumoured to involve the building of more than 8 shipyards and the construction of more than 60 missile-capable ships.

The project has been opposed by protests from the Spascirian-led Angliarique Peace League (APL), a spokesman told the Regnal Press, “The record spending of 123 billion Dahls will ruin the welfare of the people, already food subsidies have been removed, and rationing is the reality, we object to rapid remilitarisation at the expense of the livelihoods of ordinary Angliarisians and Spascirians.

APG Taps Into Royal Reserves, Raises Taxes

For the 1st time in more than 200 years, His Majesty Emperor Angliareich has granted the Angliarique Permanent Government complete access into the Angliareich Treasure Palace located under the Manor of Valeria.

The palace holds tens of thousands of historical artifacts originating from all around the world. Ancient weapons, holy relics, and well-preserved monuments clutter the palace, which have been estimated in total to be worth more than 7.6 billion EM. The historical grant is rumoured to be part of the APG’s efforts in securing political and economic resources vital to national security.

Meanwhile, the APG has also raised the rate of income tax from 10 to 20% for Spascirians, and 5% to 15% for Angliarisians. This comes after the Interior Army’s revitalisation programme caused the government to enter deficit spending. The measure is expected to improve the APG’s balance sheet for the short term, as experts warn that high taxes may lead to reduced business growth in the long term.​

Nation’s Might On Display​

Port Lionheart –

On Sunday, the Angliarique Interior Army will be holding a massive parade, to celebrate the success of its conscription efforts.

The parade will involve all branches of the Interior Army, including most of its assets.

Beginning with the Unified Force (UF), the heavily-trained national ground forces of Angliarique that totals nearly 150,000 servicemen. As of the publication of this article, there are 90,000 men on active duty, whilst 60,000 are in reserve.

The Unified Force comprises of 2 regiments, including a special forces unit.​

• The Darkford Regiment: 20,000 active, 20,000 reserve​
• The Carpathia Regiment: 50,000 active, 30,000 reserve​
• The Valerian Guard: 30,000 active​
• Total number of tanks: 500​
• Total transport vehicles: 2,200​

This branch of the Interior Army was founded in the early 16th century by the 20th Duke of Greater Carpathia, a warlord that at his peak reigned over a kingdom 7 times greater than modern day Carpathia.

Then, the Airborne Vanguard (AG), the air-force of Angliarique that totals 4,500 personnel, with the total number of aircraft hovering just below 60. As of the publication of this article, there are 2,000 men on active duty, whilst 2,500 men are in reserve.

The Airborne Vanguard comprises of 3 squadrons.​

• The Horizon 1st Squadron: 2 Divisions, 7 fighter jets each​
• The Horizon 2nd Squadron: 20 Heavy Transport Helicopters, 2 Transport Aircraft​
• The Horizon 3rd Squadron: 20 Heavy Transport Helicopters, 2 Transport Aircraft​

This branch of the Interior Army was founded in 1975, to appease Angliarique nationalists’ demands for a national air force, to display the empire’s might and strength.

Finally, the Crown Armada (CA), the navy of Angliarique that totals 34 ships, including the CA’s museum fleet. As of the publication of this article, the total personnel serving for the CA stands just shy of 35,000 people.

The Crown Armada (Modern) comprises of 2 fleets.​

• Crown Armada One: 1 frigate, 2 corvettes, 3 fast attack craft, 5 patrol boats​
• The Rear Armada: 1 frigate, 1 corvette, 3 fast attack craft, 5 patrol boats​

The Crown Armada (museum) comprises of 1 fleet.​

• The Angliarique Superfleet: 11 galleons, 2 aircraft carriers​

This branch of the Interior Army has 2 divisions. The modern fleet entered service in 2008, while the museum fleet has been in service for more than 100 years, starting with 5 galleons in the late 19th century. The carrier fleet entered service 40 years ago, and boasts 30 dive bomber aircraft per ship. The museum fleet is currently on an escort mission at Frescania, the mission itself has been a source of controversy in recent times.

Emergency Declared, Regent Appointed!​

His Majesty Emperor Angliareich in a speech to the public on Friday, declared that the Angliarique Empire would now be under a state of emergency. God Save the Emperor! Long Live the Emperor.

The Emperor announced in a surprise address to the curious public, from the balcony of the chancellor’s office at the Sanctum of Laurels. His Majesty read from an official document:

“Lords, Ladies, and citizens of Angliarique! Last night, I was informed by the chancellor on developments surrounding the Frescanian incident, and international overreactions towards it. The chancellor sincerely expressed to me, that the innocent incident has now spiralled out of the government’s direct control, in that a conference for détente has failed. As such the chancellor further expressed his wishes, that necessary steps and measures must now be undertaken to protect and defend the rightful interests of the Angliarique Realm. Similarly, my deputies in government have expressed their views, agreeing on the fact that, without a doubt, the international situation, and the current climate of our relations with regard to various nations, has reached a terminal point. And that I should now undertake the responsibility entrusted to me as Emperor of this prestigious realm, and defend our vulnerable citizens in this time of grave national urgency.”

“It is then under this consensus that I, Emperor Angliareich II, on the 25th day of November 2023, issue this proclamation, and do decree as provided by Article 16 of the Angliarique Imperial Ordinances, that whereas the permanent deputies and the Angliarique citizens have expressed a united belief that our empire is under an existential threat, and whereas evident threats have emerged to the fullest extent of potentially harming the empire’s citizens, it must then be my sole duty as Emperor and Supreme Custodian of this realm to exercise the powers vested in me by the throne, in this decree that an imperial state of emergency now exists in Angliarique.”

“Therefore, under this present emergency, in the effort of securing survival of the Angliarique peoples’ monarchy, and the safety of the realm in its entirety. I appoint Crown Prince Haglia Angliareich to undertake the duty, and exercise with discretion the powers vested in that of the, Prince Regent of the Angliarique Empire for an indefinite period, effective on the 25th day of November 2023. Signed, Emperor Angliareich II, on the twenty-fifth day of November, in the year two thousand and twenty-three.”

The Angliarisian public responded well to the anouncement, shouting slogans supportive of the emperor, everytime His Majesty paused. But this news is expected to draw considerable flak from pacifist groups, and the anti-royal Spascirians.

APG Rejects Hostage Negotiations

The Angliarique Permanent Government has rejected calls from the Angliarique Peace League led by prominent Angliarique diplomat, Sir Lutoune, to enter into negotiations with Tianese officials over the abduction of hundreds of sailors during the Nov 25th Massacre. Speaking to a crowd of 250,000 people, the chancellor’s firm rejection was heard from speakers that blasted his message in a 16 km radius starting from the capital. The chancellor rebuked Sir Lutoune, saying, “The APL is naïve, the survivors of the massacre of Nov 25, were kidnapped by the brutal regime of Tianese gangsters. We will never negotiate with war criminals, but I guarantee that our sons and daughters will be reunited with their parents in everlasting peace.”

Children Orphaned By Tianese Massacre, Receive Donation

His Grace the Regent, Prince Haglia told reporters at the annual Valerian Charity Dinner, that the Tianese massacre of Angliarisian sailors in Frescania on November 25th, has left hundreds of children to be orphans. The Regent stated that, new initiatives will be introduced to address the tragic calamity that has befallen the innocent and once happy childhoods. The Regent added that he will be donating 60 million Dahls (or 20 million EM) to the Valerian Charity Organisation, to fund the development and growth of the unfortunate children. His Grace also awarded 72 full scholarships to students that had lost both parents in the tragedy.

SNF Elects New Leader, Slams Carpathia's Prisons

Vice-President Mr Lupin Dupont of the Spascirian Nationalist Front (SNF), has announced Mr VichyCha Aldewaiss as the SNF's new leader. Mr Lupin revealed in a press conference held at the SNF headquarters in Darkford City, that Mr VichyCha was elected President of the SNF Presidium after he succeeded in garnering a comfortable majority during a secret election for the position. During the press conference, President VichyCha informed reporters that he would be issuing a formal request to the Manor of Valeria, asking for the cessation of operations of the infamous Carpathian dungeon system. He said sternly, that the dungeon system is a 'living' symbol of oppression against the Spascirian people. He also called for the immediate release of his predecessor, Mr Harriah Dupont, from house arrest.

Protestors Plan Vigil, Make Camp

Since yesterday afternoon, more than 250,000 people have gathered in the Sanctum of Laurels (SOL), to protest the Tianese government's insulting memorial of fallen Angliarisian sailors. A dispersal order was given by the chancellor, to instruct protestors to remain peaceful and leave the capital. An estimated 60,000 people have since left, but a large majority still remain. They plan to hold a vigil in remembrance of the lives lost to the Tianese massacre of November 25th. Many are already camping in tents on the capital's streets, it is believed that they will hold candlelight vigil at night.​

Evidence of Labour Crimes Found, says OEA investigator

The Office of Economic Affairs for His Majesty’s Angliarique empire, has concluded their ethics investigation into labour crimes allegedly committed by several directors of the Board of the Government-linked Spascirian Labour Council. Dr Vinsen Dlar, the lead investigator spoke to reporters on Sunday, on the outcome, Dr Dlar said, “The ethics review into the SLC was painstakingly conducted, there were various directors who were suspiciously uncooperative during the advanced interviewing process. And we have found substantial material showing that the allegations of labour abuse, may unfortunately be true. Therefore, all evidence collected will be sent to the Illustrious Procuratorate of the Angliarique High Court, for further investigation to see if criminal charges should be brought against all 16 directors of the board.”

SLC VP Found Dead by Secret Police

The Darkford Security Bureau (DSB), a branch of the Unified Force responsible for intelligence gathering and law enforcement, informed Regnal Press Co-Editor, Maxim Braunt, through an informal informant on Sunday morning, that the Vice-President of the Spascirian Labour Council, Lech Troffea, was found unconscious on the bathroom floor of his modest townhouse in Darkford. The informant told Mr Braunt, that lethal doses of cocaine were found in Lech’s system, and that the DSB forensics team concluded that he had died from substance abuse. The DSB informant also said, that this discovery was made during a surprise raid on Lech’s property.

Spascirian Politician Proposes Himself to Lead SLC

Mr VichyCha Aldewaiss, a prominent and infamous figure in the discourse of the Angliarique political scene, and the incumbent President of the Spascirian Nationalist Front, a major informal race-based political party in Angliarique, has proposed himself to fill in the position left vacant by Godfrey Pint’s arrest. Mr Pint is currently being detained on various criminal charges, and was forced to vacate his chairmanship of the SLC. Mr VichyCha offered in a press release, that he has a right as a major Spascirian leader to manage his Spascirian friends who are being employed by the Spascirian Labour Council. He argued that a ‘foreign’ Angliarisian shouldn’t have the right to ‘dictate and oppress’ Spascirian lives. Meanwhile, a request for the OEA’s comment was replied, with the OEA director stating that the proposal is being studied.​

SLC Directors Executed

The Illustrious Procuratorate of the Angliarique High Court, issued a special order to the Unified Force Civilian Authority, to carry out the execution of 16 SLC directors accused of murder. The execution followed a review by the Office of Economic Affairs into alleged mistreatment of Spascirian workers by board members of the Spascirian Labour Council (SLC). Further investigation led to the discovery of 12 buried human remains believed to be Spascirian workers, resulting in the directors being found guilty of murder. The Illustrious Procuratorate said no trial was needed, citing that the evidence was indisputably overwhelming. A firing squad performed the execution at dusk.

SNF Recognised, Protected By Law

The Sublime Recordkeeper of Angliarique Societies, has awarded the Spascirian Nationalist Front (SNF) with full recognition of it as a registered society. This award has deepened public speculation that the Office of Economic Affairs (OEA) may soon handover the ownership of the Spascirian Labour Council (SLC) to the SNF. This is due to the fact, that the rare award accords organisations with the rights and privileges granted to all Angliarisians, which has been interpreted to mean that the award will enable a legal transfer of ownership of the SLC, from the OEA to the SNF.

Former APG Governor Concerned By Fed Sanctions

Former Exterior Governor for the Angliarique Permanent Government (APG), Dr Frehdarick, wrote to the Regnal Press, expressing his concerns over the Federation’s imposition of sanctions upon Renualt-Manifattura Tropicale (RMT). Dr Frehdarick stated, “The recent sanctions against RMT indicate strong opinion against labour exploitation. So, the APG must act quickly to dispel any rumours of such things happening, and must ensure that stricter labour guidelines are enacted into law. Presently, though there are labour regulations, in reality these laws only apply to Angliarisians. We must stop treating Spascirians as third-class citizens. Moreover, the sanctions may sooner or later if not already rain down upon us, the government must act quickly to prevent that. Else, there’ll socioeconomic turmoil. Nobody wants that to happen.”​

Lredry Poer, former Angliarique Interior Army Crown Commander, suggested to Regnal Press Co-Editor that the APG should reject any proposition of surrender in the ongoing state of war between the Republic of Tianlong and the Empire of Angliarique.

Mr Poer, age 93, was invited to Regnal Press's Headquarters near the Sanctum of Laurels, for an exclusive interview. Lredry Poer began his career as a lecturer of law in the Angliarique Law College, in 1955. It was during his tenure as a teacher at the ALC that he met and befriended Duke Carpathia IV, an uncle of the late Emperor. The Duke was the college's chancellor.

It was recorded in the Angliareich Imperial Annals that Mr Poer received his appointment to be the Consular General for the Angliarique Mission in Uicheon. A promotion supported by the Duke, which many critics argue was evidence of the nepotistic culture endemic in the civil service.
In a letter by the Duke sent to the Uicheon Mission dated 1957, Mr Poer was complimented to have 'wise' and 'adaptable' qualities.
Beginning from 1957 onwards, Mr Poer served in that capacity. He was eventually relieved of that office in 1980, when he was appointed by the Duke, to be the Angliarique Head of Mission in the Thaumantic Communal Order.
During his 4-year stint in the Communal Order, Mr Poer gained notoriety for his decisive style of diplomacy. By 1984, the first Emperor invited Mr Poer to the Manor of Valeria, this event was widely-covered in the Angliarique Press, as it was revealed a new Permanent Government would be formed. After a 'gruelling' 7-hour audience, Mr Poer was appointed to the prestigious position of Crown Commander of His Majesty's Angliarique Interior Army.

Reflecting on his past, Mr Poer lamented that he was unable to meet the high expectations the late Emperor had for him. And that he regretted not contributing more towards the development of the Interior Army. Stating, "Had I put in more effort, the late emperor needn't watch from the heavens, his empire being smothered by the Tianlong Republic."

On current affairs, Mr Poer was frank. On Angliarique's growing dependence for foreign countries to supply the realm with coal, he stated, "This situation cannot last, and it has shown. Our partnership with Charleroi ended in tatters, when we announced foreign policy contrary to their political ambitions, triggering another energy crisis. Our partnership with Engwahl, now precarious, as the past threatens to repeat itself."
On the Pressburg Pact, he stated, "With the way things have been going for us, it is no surprise that we're warming towards the Tarusan Empire. As was said before, we are very economically dependent and this has become a national security risk, a top priority. Thankfully, the pact has strong indications of bearing fruit. We must remain vigilant."
On the war with Tianlong, he stated, "The present state of affairs with regard to the war with Tianlong, is a problem. We are outnumbered one to a million, by personnel. We are outnumbered a thousand to a trillion, economically speaking. We are facing an uphill climb, one that seems to promise several slips along the way up. But, to save our way of life, we must endure. We must." He further said, "This war has already produced untold amounts of deaths. A war triggered by Feng Yuhan's deplorable attack against our cultural asset. In the utmost terms, I condemn Mr Feng's war provocation. And now, with news that CETO may get involved, one should wonder if they are only defensive in name."

Putting the complexities of geopolitics aside, Mr Poer reminded himself of happier times. He stated, "There were simpler times. When I would feed the ducks by the riverside. Or take a walk on the beaches, with my family. Those were the days..."

Activist Survives Assasination Scare
A former colonel who served for the Darkford Regiment of the Unified Force, was severly injured after an apparent assasination attempt. The veteran who identified himself as Maqs, was rushed by a group of ultra-nationalist Angliarisians, when he delivered his address onstage at an Impoverished Veterans' Soup Kitchen in Darkford City. Authorities suspect Maq's public and controversial pacifist views may have been the prime motivator for the attack. The authorities have said that they will continue to investigate other possible motives, the group meanwhile have been released on bail.

OEA Pens Historic Deal With SNF
The Angliarique Office of Economic Affairs has transferred its ownership of the Spascirian Labour Council to the Spascirian Nationalist Front. Marking the first time a state-owned company was privatised. The OEA's Director penned the agreement in the SNF's Heaquarters in Darkford City, with the SNF's President, VichyCha Aldewaiss. Speaking to reporters, VichyCha said, "This is a historic moment for all Spascirians, and sets a great precedent for the inevitable liberation of all of us. The SNF promises to improve the SLC's work conditions, and rid it of harmful exploitation."

Three Arrested For The Murder Of Barley the Dog
A trio of suspects were detained by the Darkford Security Bureau on Sunday. The trio are believed to be apart of a larger criminal organisation, which authorities say have been responsible for conducting various illegal activities both in Angliarique and internationally. The suspects were wanted for the mysterious and tragic disapperance of His Majesty's Canine Companion, Barley. They will be brought before the High Court of Angliarique, on charges of murder, treason, and drug trafficking. If found guilty, they face the death penalty.

Briutine Calls For Chancellor's Resignation
Alecy Briutine, one-term Chancellor of the Angliarique Permanent Government, known for his controversial isolationist policies and reluctance of heeding the emperor's advise, has urged the incumbent Chancellor Lord Banker to resign. Mr Briutine issued a strongly-worded press statement directed at Lord Banker, slamming him for wading into a 'silly' war with the Tianese Government, and risking Angliarisian lives. The statement disclosed that should the chancellor fail to step down, a formal request will issued to the High Court to impeach the current chancellor. Meanwhile, the Interior Governor has warned Mr Briutine that his words may be taken as seditious, calling for him to retract his statement. ​

Carpathian Regimental Forces Conduct Drills

The Carpathian Regiment of the Unified Force, simulated a large-scale prison riot on Thursday. The drills involved more than 35,000 of the regimental ground forces, and its purpose according to Colonel Richelieu, was to prepare for the prevention of a potential prison rebellion leading to a mass escape, in the event that enemy forces attempt a land invasion of Angliarique. Which would mean that the regimental forces would be called upon to aid the defence, leading to prisons in Carpathia being understaffed, that was often the cause of prison breakouts in the past when the regimental forces were called upon to crush rebellions in other cities.

Careful Policies For Survival

Dah Bank, Angliarique's Central Bank, will begin increasing subsidies for the production of staple foods such as bread, pork, and milk. Whilst, increasing the official rate of interest by 5% to 12%, and imposing a 10% tax on personal income. The Governor of Dah Bank also announced that foreign firms that employ a minimum of 50 workers will be exempted from the nation’s flat corporate tax rate of 5%.
The Angliarique Office of Economic Affairs, an administrative department under Dah Bank’s umbrella, has stated it would continue its programme of awarding public contracts to local firms exclusively, in a move seen by economists as protectionist.

Briutine Files Impeachment Challenge

Former one-term Angliarique Chancellor, Alecy Briutine, has filed an appeal for the impeachment and removal of the incumbent chancellor, Lord Banker, in the Angliarique High Court. Decreed by Emperor Angliareich I, the High Court is the apex court of the Angliarique Empire functioning similar to that of ‘Supreme and Federal courts’ in other jurisdictions. For the impeachment to be successful, a panel of 17 judges must vote at least 15-2 in favour of the impeachment charge. If impeached, the chancellor must surrender himself to His Majesty the Emperor, for final deliberation to judge if the chancellor should be removed. The appeal is still under consideration, and the Chancellor has not been charged.

Elusive Queen Attends Pelasgian Fanclub Meeting

Commonly known to Angliarisian folk as the Prince’s Mother, HM Queen Amendus Sopfia was spotted attending a monthly meet up held by Angliarisian fans of the Pelasgian Royal Family. She reportedly remarked of the passing of the Tiburan Emperor, “A tragedy and a great loss has befallen Europe and his peoples.” The Queen held a minutes silence thereafter. @Pelasgia

Former FAC Governor Jailed, Found Bankrupt

Disgraced diplomat and former APG official, Lady Pembroke, who served as Governor of the Exterior from the Briutine Government to the Banker Government in 2023, has been found guilty of commiting high treason on 3 separate occasions. As she has served as a Governor, her sentence to the death penalty for committing high treason was commuted to life imprisonment. She was also fined 600 million Angliarisian Dahls (200 million EM) for the offence, failing to pay up, she was later found bankrupt.

Impeachment Challenge Shot Down

An impeachment challenge filed by Earl Briutine against Chancellor Banker, was dismissed by all 17 judges of the panel overseeing the case. The lead justice stated that ‘no merits’ were found to substantiate any of the allegations of ‘treason’ made against the Chancellor. The Panel then warned the Earl for his blatant attempt to overthrow a government through questionable means.

Trio Accused of Killing Emperor’s Pet, Found Dead

Three suspects of Angliarisian descent, accused of murdering and abducting the canine companion of His Majesty Emperor Angliareich, were found unresponsive in their holding cell. The trio were awaiting trial, that was slated to be held at the end of the month. The Unified Force Civilian Authority ruled out foul play in the matter, after no evidence was found. Furthermore, postmortem was conducted on all three bodies of the deceased, which still found no evidence of foul play. The authorities believe that the trio may have died due to sudden death syndrome.

New Campuses, says Darkford City College

Emelda Ferns, director for Darkford City College (DCC), informed the press that new college campuses will be set up in Carpathia City and Port Stupor. The director of the affordable private college stated that the total cost for construction and staffing stands at Ω19 million, adding that the project will be funded by the DCC without government funding. The director also mentioned that the project is in response to a massive survey revealing growing demand for tertiary education.

Free Secondary Education, says Chancellor

According to the Chancellor of the Angliarique Empire, the regent issued a directive on Wednesday night, allocating more than Ω3 billion to be spent on improving the quality of education for Angliarisian students, and a decree making secondary education free for all under law. Angliarique resource conglomerate, EverHouse Group, traded as EHG on the Angliarique National Share Market, saw its market value rising by 100,000 Dahls after the conglomerate's Chairman, Horatio EverHouse announced the Group had contracted with new suppliers at a sharply lower piecerate cost than previous outsourced manufacturers.

The newly created public employment and crime prevention initiative started by the Civilian Authority, has been successful according to the High Commissioner. The Civilian Authority will therefore proceed with the next phase of the PMT, advertising approximately more than 100,000 job openings. Noting the success of the programme, the High Commissioner stated that he would further incorporate the disciplines and training modules of the Valerian Guard into the PMT's current training module. He stated, "Crime prevention needs to be taken seriously, this is not a game for loonies to fool around in. I will ensure that no one, no one escapes the wrath of justice."

EHG-Corbö Wins CA Contract
Angliarique Conglomerates, EverHouse Group and Corbö Ltd, have been awarded a joint contract with the Civilian Authority, to supply the law enforcement agency with security tools. The contract stipulates that EHG will supply Corbö Ltd with copper, and Corbö Ltd will manufacture the various goods. The new joint project is expected to create 600 new jobs, not including those needed to work at the manufacturing plants.​
