Grazing Rights Dispute Grow Violent - Shots Fired
**Due to the sensitive nature of this incident names of the parties involved are being with held at this time**
Danisor, UEC- A dispute over goat grazing rights between farmers on the border of the Emirate of Danisor and the Emirate of Ursontona grew violent today. Several exchanges of automatic weapons fire were reported, but as of now no injuries have been reported. Police forces of both Emirates responded to the situation which is now believed to be defused.

The situation began when a goat farmer from the Emirate of Danisor, which is a Christian Emirate, crossed the border into land of another farmer in the Islamic Emirate of Ursontona. The farmer claimed he was on his own land and refused to leave when asked to. The dispute grew heated and with in a few hours several neighboring farmers were involved and firearms were being carried. Later in the day, several farmers from the Ursontona side crossed over into Danisor at which point several shots were exchanged.

Dispute along Danisor-Ursontona border grows - 3 deaths reported
Danisor-Ursontona Border, UEC- What was originally a small dispute between farmers has grown into a major dispute. Local police forces have withdrawn from the area after being beaten back by dozens of members of citizen militias on both sides. Three officers were killed in the fighting, casualties among militia members are unknown at this time. It is believed now that armed Christian and Islamic militias are involved. Speculation suggests that the Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan helped to reignite the dispute yesterday after several dozen heavily armed members showed up to the area after hearing news reports of the dispute. The Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan has been officially designated as a extremist terrorist group by the United Emirates since a string of Mosque bombings in 1987.

Eyewitnesses report firing positions are being dug in on the Ursontona side of the border. A local farmer told Voice of Cakistan reporters, "If the infidels from Danisor wish to come over here we will be ready for them." Scattered reports of heavier weapons including RPGs and mortars are also being heard on both sides of the border.

His Excellency First Minister Abdullah Shareef ibn al-Din, SPC, OBM, HE has called for an emergency meeting of the Defense Council to discuss the escalating situation.

30 members of the Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan Charged with Insurrection
Emirate of Danisor, UEC- 30 members of the the Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan were charged with the crime of Insurrection today, along with a variety of other charges. In total 157 charges were filled against the 30 defendants. By far the most serious was the Crime of Insurrection which carries the death penalty in the United Emirates. The charge stems from attacks made by the CBC militia against Danisor Emirate Police Forces that led to the death of three police officers in the recent so called "Grazing War."

Shah's Charity Considering New Aid Targets
Taze Jiyan, UEC- Officials from the Shah's Charity for a New Himyar are considering new targets for aid as frustrations grow over slow negotiations over current projects.

Alert Level of Peshmerga Raised
Taze Jiyan, UEC- The Ministry of Defense confirmed today that due troubling warning signs in the region the alert level of the Peshmerga, the army of the United Emirates, had been raised to yellow status. Ministry of Defense spokesperson Ahmed Tizan stated that the alert was a standard precautionary measure in times of increased tension, and was not indicative of any offensive military action by the United Emirates. The yellow readiness level is second lowest used by the Peshmerga and is just above the normal green operating condition.

Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan Members Convicted - 5 Sentenced to Death
Emirate of Danisor, UEC- In a speedy trial 30 members of the Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan were convicted of the charge of Insurrection today along with 157 other related charges. Five of the members were sentenced to death for ordering or executing orders that led directly to the death of three police officers. The other twenty-five were given sentences ranging from 20 years to life in prison. The office of the Prosecutor for the Emirate of Danisor also released today that the trial and convictions were reached so quickly because of the presence of a operative from the Bureau of Internal Security inside the group.

A spokesman for the Danisor Emirate Police Forces stated that they will be on high alert for any possible action or unrest caused by the Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan between now and the executions. The executions are set for next Monday at sunset. The Christian Brotherhood of Cakistan is a separatist terrorist group which has been proscribed in the United Emirates since a series of deadly bombings in 1987.

Warrants Issued for Leaders of Islamic Militant Groups
Emirate of Ursontona, UEC- The Ministry of Justice has released eight arrest warrants for members of a local Islamic militia thought to be involved in the recent "Grazing War." The militia group, "The Western Islamic Raiders Group," was practically unknown to officials before the recent conflict. This fact is hardly surprising considering the United Emirates loose policy on militia groups in rural areas and their defacto support of them as an auxiliary to the Peshmerga. Militia membership is common in rural areas and has a long history dating back to Cakistan's Wars of Independence and Liberation.

Belmont Embroiled in New Diplomatic Row
Taze Jiyan, UEC- Belmont is once again in another diplomatic row with its Western European neighbors. This dispute focuses on reports in Belmontian press of uneven border guard disposition on the Lorrainese side of the border. This report was denied by the Government of Lorraine and rhetoric has been increasingly hostile on both sides. The Kingdom of Belmont's foreign policy has been increasingly erratic in recent months as it has been involved in a series of diplomatic disputes across Europe. A situation that is reportedly causing great concern in Taze Jiyan especially with Belmont's recent deployment of 18,000 additional troops to Abruzicstan, a southern neighbor of the United Emirates. Dr. Edwin Said of the Cakistani Institute of Strategic Studies stated of the recent troop deployments, "That Belmont desired a base for their continued meddling in Himyar is well known in the region. Indeed the new Government of Jurzan stated that were implicitly bribed to allow one in their war ravaged country earlier this year. It seems now that Belmont has decided to use the situation in Abruzicstan to create one."

A New Direction for UEC Foreign Policy?
Taze Jiyan, UEC- Since the end of the Great War the United Emirates have maintained a consistent policy of "Isolated Development." This policy focused on internal economic development while most foreign contact was limited to trade agreements in Near Himyar. Certainly the Emirates maintained there traditional friendship with the Talemantros Empire, but for the most part we were content to leave the rest of the world to its own devices as long as our sacred independence was maintained.

Recently the powers that be among the advisors of His Majesty Shah Karim III and His Excellency First Minister Shareef ibn al-Din have come to the conclusion that further economic development is basically impossible without a much greater degree of integration with the global economy. While this conclusion is supported by most prominent economists and academics in the United Emirates, it is not without peril. Economic integration is fright with danger for the United Emirates, especially if not accompanied by greater political awareness of the rest of Europe.

The first attempts at greater economic and political engagement with the rest of Europe came in the Emirates support for the creation of a regional block under the leader of SEEDTO. This quickly led to the flare up in tensions between SEEDTO, and to be honest the United Emirates especially, and the Kingdom of Belmont. This is a diplomatic rift that still has not fully healed. Today however the SEEDTO alliance seems dead, as Government collapse and withdrawals have left only two active members. Given the current situation, rumors have swirled around Taze Jiyan for weeks that we too will announce our formal withdrawal from the alliance. Even if they do not however, it seems certain that as a practical matter the SEEDTO alliance is dead as a major force in Himyar. It was a noble experiment that was perhaps too ambitious for the governments that undertook it.

It seems unlikely that the experiment of a formal regional alliance will be repeated anytime soon. The current feeling in Taze Jiyan is the region is simply to unstable and unpredictable to be ready for such an alliance. While this may change in the future, for now United Emirates officials have stated they are going to concentrate on building up bilateral ties to other powers in the region. The new diplomatic offensive will begin this week with a visit by the Minister for External Affairs to Keritha and a visit from a delegation from the Judean Republic.

What steps the Emirates should take after that are more up in the air. Some in the foreign policy establishment have been advocating closer ties with the EDF, especially those who remain concerned about Belmont's recent escalation of troops to the South. However, the idea of coming close to either of the major alliances is opposed by many in the Emirates as contrary to continued political independence.

We here in Tolede urge Cakistan to be cautious when dealing with either the EDF or the LFS as their interests are not necessarily those that would be benefitial to Cakistan. It is also the opinion of the President as well as the whole of the Council of Ministers that the United Emirates is correct in their concern with Belmont's escalation of miltary operations in neighboring Abruzicstan, for if things go their way, the Belmontian military will become not only a permanent fixture there but it will also open the door for their LFS friends.

Situation in Abruzicstan Worsening - Refugees Expected
PGB Davis, Sahmerna, UEC- Peshmerga officers are reporting that the situation in Abruzicstan is worsening substantially despite the recent surge in troops by the Kingdom of Belmont. Captain Yaseen, Public Affairs Officer for 7th Infantry Division, stated they expect substantial refugees to begin crossing the border and expect that the final number could be in the hundreds of thousands.

Peshmerga Forces in cooperation with the Red Crescent and the Shah's Charity for a New Himyar have been busy setting up refugee tent cities along the border in order to manage the population. Conditions in the aid camps will almost certainly be sparse, but Captain Yaseem has assured the publication that basic needs will be fulfilled and that the Peshmerga will ensure fighting does not spread across the border. The Ministry of Defense has also confirmed that they have ordered two additional divisions, the 2nd Combined Arms Division and 15th Mechanized Infantry Division, to the border region. With these reinforcements Peshmerga forces along the Abruzicstan border will number around 45,000.

Diplomatic Outreach Begins
Taze Jiyan, UEC- Two major diplomatic trips have been embarked upon by the the government of the United Emirates this week, one to the Republic of Kerethia and the other to the Judean Republic. This mission to Kerethia is being led by Minister for External Affairs Nasir and many speculate that the deteriorating situation in Abruzicstan will be high on the agenda along with increased economic ties. The mission to the Judean Republic is being led by Deputy Minister for External Affairs Crown Prince Samuel of Danisor.

WAR!
Kingdom of Belmont launches Air Strikes on the Socialist Republic of Coronado
Paris, Belmont- Numerous fighter-bombers of the Belmontian Royal Air Force have struck targets in northern Coronado. The strikes are believed to have concentrated on air defense installations and major logistical hubs. Early reports suggest major damage, but likely not crippling damage, has been sustained to Coronado's ability to resist further Belmontian aggression.

The attacks came after a recent increase in tension between Belmont and Coronado, after Paris claimed that Coronado operatives were behind the recent botch assignation attempt on the Prime Minister of Belmont. These accusations were denied by Coronado, and recently the Judean Republic Ministry of Intelligence has released documents consistent with the version of events from Toledo.

Surprisingly reaction from Taze Jiyan, a frequent critic of Belmontian foreign policy, has been muted. Emergency meetings of the Defense Council have been held at the Shah's Palace since the initial attack, however up till now there has been no official reaction out of either the Palace or the Ministry of Defense other than to confirm the reports of the attack and state that the national authorities were actively engaged in the manner.

Jurzani Government in Crisis
Sharjah, Jurzan- The Government of the Republic of Jurzan found itself once again in a major crisis today. The President of the Shura Congress, Ma'tusim Bulus, has been arrested at the order of Chancellor Khayrat. The Chancellor has also suspended the legislative power of the Shura Congress. The arrest took place as the Republic of Jurzan contemplated major revisions to its constitution for the third time since the recent civil war and invasion by Talemantros. The current draft Constitution had been criticized by the United Emirates as paving the way for socialism in Jurzan. It is unclear what the outcome of today events will be as the Chancellor has submitted his actions to the Constitutional Court for approval. All that can be known for sure at this moment is that the situation is extremely unstable. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a travel advisory for Jurzan and warned Cakistani citizen to not travel to the country until such time as the political situation stabilizes.

United Emirates Joins Council of Nations
Augsburg, Wiese- By a vote of 3 in favor with none opposing the Security Council has ratified Cakistan's membership in the Council of Nations. Many recent membership applications have been held up due to continued political tensions between the East and West. A spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs stated that Cakistan's membership was allowed because of the Emirates "independent foreign policy." The Ministry of External Affairs also named Ms. Jamilah Antanaz as head of the Emirates delegation to the Council of Nations.

Situation in Long Sea Unstable - Further Conflict Seen as Likely
Taze Jiyan, UEC- The Ministry of External Affairs stated the situation in the Long Sea was increasingly unstable and prone to miscalculation and accidental conflict. Naval forces from at least 14 different nations are believed to be currently engaged in operations in the Long Sea. According to one source inside the Ministry of Defense, "warships are so thick in the Long Sea you could walk from Hajr to Coronado without getting your toes wet." Military officials are concerned that the large number of warships in such close proximity could lead to a general melee once shooting begins anywhere whether accidental or purposeful, widening the current conflict in South Gaulia into a European wide conflict. According to the same Ministry of Defense source, "We are in a situation where if someone takes a dump out there without informing the other ships in the area it could easily lead to another Great War."

Minister of External Affairs Nasir has called for an immediate deescalation in the Long Sea. "The only way to ensure the more general peace is for non-belligerent nations to begin withdrawing their forces from the area and for the immediate end of the blockade announced by Frescania. The blockade is at this point raising tensions higher rather than lowering them as nations are deploying their own naval forces in order to ensure that their shipping is allowed through the blockade."
