Upcoming Presidential elections may transform the country

Election day is approaching in Fulanistan, and both parties are beginning campaigning. Both the Liberal Party and the Islamic Alliance are preparing campaigns for their candidates. Incumbent President Abdullah Al Assad-Nahed will be running again under the Islamic Alliance, and newcomer Francisca Van Der Berg will be running under the Liberal Party. Both Candidates can be seen here:

If elected, Francisca Van Der Berg would be the first female leader of Fulanistan. The Liberal party is running on a campaign of Secularism, which has surged in popularity in the past few years, with 42% favoring it in 2002, and 59% favoring it in 2010. Support also seems to be in the Liberal's favor, with 55% supporting the party in a recent poll. When our news team asked people on the streets, many of them said they supported the Liberal Party for their more open economic plan, compared to the Islamic Alliance which supports state owned ventures and small amounts of Foreign Investment. The elections are held on the Second Sunday of May every 4 years, and a large voter turnout is expected.

The Council of Akhaltsikhe is happy to see Fulanistan's Liberal Party running on a campaign of secularism. Perhaps they too understand the dangers of a Religious Government. They also seem to understand the need of a a Capitalist Economy, something else we are happy to see. We will be watching the election closely.

Francisca Van Der Berg wins Presidency in Landslide Election

You must be registered for see images

All 60 electoral districts of Fulanistan have been counted, and Liberal candidate Francisca Van Der Berg has won, claiming 43 out of 60 Seats in Congress. The Islamic Alliance lost many of their stronghold seats, as Fulanistan becomes increasingly Liberal and Secular. The first act made by the new Liberal government came several hours after Francisca claimed the Presidency. The Democratic Fairness act, passed late last night, dismantles the Islamic government and bans Islamic based laws. It bans faith based parties such as the Islamic Alliance, and regular congressional meetings are expected to begin by the end of the month.

Suionia congratulates Francisca Van Der Berg and the Liberals on their election. She faces many challenges and we believe she is up to the task. It is our intention to perhaps expand relations between Suionia and Fulanistan in the coming months and years and we believe that these free and fair elections can only help progress this spirit.

Best of luck to President Francisca Van Der Berg and the people of Fulanistan.

We condemn the new law passed by the Fulani legislature as oppressive. Citizens have the right to practice their faith in peace, as well as organize themselves politically on a faith-based platform.

We worry that a new bias against the members of Allah's Inviolable House is taking hold amongst the political elite in Al Azir, and call on President Van den Berg to take a liberal stance and treat all ideologies and religions equally. State atheism is not the way.

The recent measures to secularize the governance of Fulanistan are acceptable to this office. Seeing that the Liberals achieved such a vast mandate shows that the Fulani people are wanting a change.

New International Airport begins construction in Zandburg

Construction began today on Fulanistan's new flagship airport located in Zandburg. The airport is replacing the aged and run down airport in Al Azir, and will be an international Transit Hub for tourists and businesspeople alike. Originally the airport was to be built in Al Azir, but the booming business sector in Zandburg was a major factor in the location decision. The airport is expected to open later this year.

FCS says Fascist group, Nieuwe Unie, is arming itself

There is Growing concern in Al Azir over Nieuwe Unie, a fascist group and potential militia. Early reports that the group is receiving outside funding and arms are surfacing, and Central Security says it is a potential threat to stability and progress in the country. It is not known how many people are involved in the group, but recent public gatherings of the group in Al Azir show that there could be around 5-10 thousand. However the FSC says they are aware of the situation and the general populace need not be worried.

Akhaltsikhe is very concerned about this Nieuwe Unie. We hope that Fulanistan fixes the situation quickly and make sure violence doesn't erupt, or spill across the border.

We hope that this fringe group is closely monitoried. Based on its name of Dutch-language origin, we offer our own intelligence services in tracking their progress and origins. We want to make sure that our former colony and now ally is well protected from any potential extremist group. We have faced the same at home with the BRA.

Nieuwe Unie launches offensive in South Aziristan Province, 35 Civilians killed
Fascist group Nieuwe Unie has launched an attack in South Aziristan Province, causing destruction to numerous government buildings and multiple deaths. The attacks started early this morning outside the Fulanistan Central Security Offices in Johar when a bomb went off killing 3 guards. Several Nieuwe Unie troops formed near the rubble and began firing on security personnel. Meanwhile the Johar City Hall was stormed. The Nieuwe Unie killed 5 civilians and 6 Government workers. They attempted to take control of the building but Security personnel took out 3 Nieuwe Unie troops and the rest fled.
President Francisca Van Der Berg responded to the incident, putting the country into a state of emergency. The Fulanistan National Army was deployed into the area, but hostilities had stopped. The Nieuwe Unie has apparently retreated to the Kador Desert in Northern Zandalia Province, where there are many small towns for the militia group to hide in.

We express our shock, outrage and disgust with this terrorist attack. Intelligence agents from the Staatsveiligheid, our intelligence service, are ready to fly to Fulanistan to assist in the apprehension of these criminals. We are also willing to send special operative groups for raids and members of the National Police for training exercises. We do not take this lightly and wish to do everything in our power to assist our comrades and allies in Fulanistan.

Fulanistan, on Behalf of the Sinhai Union,

We wish to send our deepest sympathies to those families that have suffered at the hands of this new fascist threat. We are also keenly aware of the difficulties encountered in prosecuting a campaign of suppression against a faction that is not clearly distinguished from the rest of society. We hope that the legitimate government of Fulanistan can suppress the extremists, who despite their nationalism seek to destroy the very embodiment of a nation through their violent discord. A victory in Fulanistan is a victory for Sinhai and the rest of the world.

Sincerely,
Arun Iyengar
