Counter-Protests in Vedrarfjord
AP Vedrarfjord

This is AP News,

We are reporting today within the Milesian Province which has become a pariah in it's own state. With it's refusal to acknowledge the new Government it has come to head with Dún Midhe, the capital, in quite a serious way.

Last we reported the two militaries maintained a standoff at the Provincial Border, however it seems the cold war is coming to a close.

*Cue to large group of people, possibly two-three thousand men protesting outside the Vedrardfjord Civil Hall. Milesian Gardaí and soldiers are at the Hall doors. The City Hall looks in a bad state. The protestors look to be wearing shabby clothing with dirt and mud - rural Milesians mostly*

''Yeah I'm a farmer. Shure we all are. We're our own movement, Mac Tír*. That Columbaynus Movement has been a real shite job altogther. The lads in charge were handed the keys to our Kingdom and they didn't know what the fuck to do with it. All the while the Government hasn't been able to supply us with our neccesaries! You cant turn Milesia into some stupid ''communal paradise'' - and we wont let them!''

*The interview gets interrupted with a large ''arrrgh'' - likely approval - from the other farmers.*

''They'll see. They c'n ignore us for only so long'' The farmer added.

AP News attempted to gain an interview from the Columbanus Movement itself, but none of the members wished to do so. It's leader, Dermot Keegan, has apparently not been seen publicly in weeks. It seems the honeymoon period for this new rule has worn off, as facilities and utilities have come to a grinding halt, with the blame being placed squarely on the Columbanus's inexperience, and the siege war with the rest of Ivernia.

AP News will be staying in this city as more events unfold.

Eiffelland is definitely interested in an alliance for stability in the world, as proposed by the Government of Sikandara.

Crown Prince Constantine to travel to Trier, Eiffelland
AP Trier

Crown Prince Constantine of Danmark has announced his intention to travel to Trier, Eiffelland, in a first step towards brokering a ceasefire and negotiations towards peace and reconciliation in the war-torn lands of Danmark-Wendziema. This move is apparently unilateral, as King Lorentz I of Danmark has announced no such intentions himself or for the Crown Prince to act on his behalf, further illuminating the unusual relationship the two royal brothers of the exiled Dansk Royal Family have. Attempts to reach spokesmen for His Dansk Majesty for comments on the actions of his brother have failed thus far.

The Crown Prince, however, was available to explain his intentions, stating that "there is only so much that can be done from Shahdara, and although the Sikandarans have been gracious, generous, and supportive hosts, our abilities to stop the bloodshed in our homeland are severely limited in the east. It has become clearer that, as time has gone on, bolder approaches are necessary in order to tackle this problem, and hands-on methods have more chance of prevailing over indirect avenues towards peace." When asked to clarify any preliminary points of negotiation, the Crown Prince declined to do so, promising that "they will be known when more information on the conflict is available", and further stating that "the primary objective now is to get a ceasefire and stop the madness. Once that is achieved, the rest shall follow."

It is as of now unclear as to whether the Nationalist Alliance, Collectivist Union, and Rzeczpospolita Remnant will respond to the calls for a ceasefire and negotiations, but after twenty-two days of nonstop, indecisive fighting, one wonders how much longer it can go on with no end in sight, save for the end proposed by the devout Catholic Crown Prince. One wonders also if his authority will be respected, considering the official inactiveness of the King in Shahdara, but the boldness of the Crown Prince will at least grab the attention of those involved in this conflict, and that may be the opening needed to end the violence engulfing the Germanian-Sarmatian state.

Shahdara to alter policy with regards to Ivernia
AP Shahdara

Rumours are afloat that following the further deterioration of the situation in the High Kingdom, Sikandara has been considering its options to better safeguard the strategic interests it has in the northern country. Recently, that country has been involved in a civil war and historically Sikandara and Ivernia have enjoyed a solid relationship. Recently, it is said the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy guaranteed that Ivernian oil supplies would continue. But recent developments suggest that many in the imperial capital are thinking of a radical re-think of the bilateral ties with the Celtic state.

Feathers had been ruffled in Shahdara when @ chose to join the Tripartite Alliance and seek to make Sylvania its primary supplier of oil. This move on part of Alderburgh has clearly backfired, as Sylvania has withdrawn into isolation and the Tripartite Alliance is a relic. There is said to be a retributive angle among the more hardline in the country's powerful legislature, which has great influence over the Emperor, which seeks to punish the Ivernians for their betrayal of Sikandara during the darkest days of the wars in Touyou.

On the condition of anonymity, an official from the Foreign Ministry stated that it was very likely that Sikandara would be orienting its support in more direct terms to power blocs in Ivernia which were resolutely pro-Monarchist, anti-Marxist, and anti-Republican. The Official Spokesman for the Government denied such claims and stated that Sikandara would not get involved in what amounts to an internal matter.

With new mandate, Sikandari Government launches harsh campaign against Communists
AP Shahdara

A little over twenty four hours ago, polls in Sikandara's general election closed and just earlier this morning, the official results were announced which saw the incumbent government of Chancellor Babur Suleymani receive a massive increase in votes. Shortly afterwards, the government authorised the deployment of troops to the troubled Osmaniye Province, in the north which was long considered a stronghold for the Communist Party, to assist the ongoing efforts of police and paramilitary to crackdown on the banned political ideology. Already, the Sikandari government has arrested hundreds and thousands more have disappeared without a trace, which international observers state is the work of the Sikandari Intelligence Services, but such allegations have been denied by the SIS and the Government of Sikandara. Human rights activists have long been trying to draw attention to the situation in Osmaniye but the international community does not seem inclined to take note of the Sikandari crackdown.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you the following message:

“Citizens of Auraria, I, Chairman Aurelio Santana of the Council of People’s Commissars, am talking to you tonight to announce a tragedy that has beset the entirety of our country and our world. It is no secret that freedom is under attack at all times by oppressors across the world. What money could normally go to infrastructure, healthcare, and education – improvements of our life – instead must be sent to arms as capitalists continually insist on profiting off of the suffering of other people’s. There is no nation where this is more profound than the Empire of Sikandara. We have many words for Sikandara, but murderers was never one of them – until tonight.”

“While we are not allies to the government of Sikandara, we are allies of the peoples – as we are of all peoples. In light of the regularly reported oppressions that our brothers in Sikandara face, our governments agreed to a deal that would spare as many people as possible. Auraria had agreed to ship people out of Sikandara and bring them to Auraria, where they’d be safe from repression. In return, Auraria would not financially support the revolutionaries in Sikandara, as we have done in the past. Members of my own government were hesitant to approve such a deal, but we agreed that human life is paramount – it goes beyond politics. That is, until tonight.”

“I am saddened to report that a vessel carrying such refugees was fired upon and sunk several kilometers off the Sikandaran coastline. We do not believe there are any survivors and we now mourn 150 human lives. The Sikandaran Navy betrayed the trust of Auraria and killed innocent civilians whose sole goal in life was achieving true and genuine freedom. I am now more confident than ever in my resolve.”

“Murderers such as the Sikandarans cannot be negotiated with as they are too paranoid that their system of oppression could be righteously toppled by the workers. The Sikandarans have proven nonnegotiable, and that is regrettable. I have amassed an emergency session of the Council of People’s Commissars as well as the People’s Parliament. The People’s Armed Forces have already been coordinating a response for several hours. Auraria will not stand for the murder of innocent lives and I am today announcing our firm stance: to the Workers of Sikandara, we have heard your suffering, we have heard your call. You have our grace and our support.”

“Thank you, and goodnight.”

The Imperial Government condemns the language used by the Aurarine leadership as inflammatory and absurd. We are not aware of any attempts at cooperation between Sikandara and Auraria with regards to Communists being exiled. Further, we are not aware of any such occurrence within our territorial waters. We ask the Aurarine Government to produce evidence to corroborate their claims. The Imperial Government shall not take such accusations lightly.

Speeches and posters: Grand Duke gains popularity on anti-communism stance

AP Chagny

A large poster covers an entire external wall of a building in Changy; the face of the Grand Duke looks on sternly with the words: He fights for you written beneath. Similar anti-communism and pro-Ducal posters appeared in the past week throughout Bourgogne. Grand Duke Maximilien has stated that the government is not responsible for the thousands of posters which have popped up. However, in a recent speech in Brienne, the Grand Duke addressed about 20,000 to wild cheers of support. In the speech, the Grand Duke declared that "socialism is not inherently a bad thing. Like sweets, it must be taken in moderation. It is only when it morphs into an extreme political serpent which is intent on destroying the rights of the individual. It is unfortunate that we are seeing this happen. This cancer cannot be allowed to grow". Some are questioning the motivations of the Grand Duke and are accusing him of a power grab prior to upcoming elections.

The accusations formulated by the government of Auraria against Sikandara are extremely severe. Such accusations cannot be put forward without evidence. We will investigate this matter ourselves in order to determine our stance. Meanwhile, we will follow the principle "innocent until proven guilty", which came to us through Tiburan Right and is an important principle in our criminal law.

SENATVS POPVLVSQVE TIBVRANVS
RES PVBLICA TIBVRANA - MINISTERIVM DE RERVM EXTERNARVM

MMVIII MAIVS MMXV - PVBLICA CONSTITVTIONIS

The Senate and the People of Tibur are extremely concerned at the growing tensions between the nations of Sikandara and Auraria. A conflict between two large, industrial countries of this magnitude could disrupt trade and shipment of valuable resources, such as oil, in the Long Sea and spiral out of control into a greater, bloody conflict. For this reason the Senate and the People of Tibur recommend the highest amount of caution and moderation as well as the avoidance of agressive moves on both sides.

It is impossible for us not to observe that the Aurarine government has made strong accusations and claims of secret diplomacy without any sort of proof or legally acceptable documents. Such unfounded accusations are dangerous and could make one go as far as to think that the Aurarines could have instigated the whole affair in an attempt to provoke a conflict. Of course we trust that the state which has devoted itself to the "interests of the people" would not use a tool, such as war, which its ideology is supposed to reject, denounce and condemn as an "instrument of imperialism". War is, after all, utterly opposed to the interests of the workers and farmers of Auraria.

At the same time the Senate and the People of Tibur are concerned at the harshness of the "crackdown" operation by the Sikandari Crown against the Communists and other Marxists within its borders. While we respect the inalienable rights of all sovereign states to exercise their authority within their borders in whichever way they see fit, mass political prosecutions which encompass thousands of people and their loved ones are of another, far darker age. We do however trust that the Sikandari Empire uses force only when necessary and does its best to avoid collateral damage, as it has always done, being a highly civilised and respected state.

Such matters are too important to be left solely on the level of trust and the Senate and the People of Tibur have no choice but to intensively investigate them. We shall follow the developments closely, while we reiterate our call of calamity, peace and diplomatic cooperation by all involved states on all levels. If needed the Senate and the People of Tibur could act as a mediator between the People's Republic and the Empire. Ave Imperator!

LAS COMMUNAS UNIDAS DEL
ESTADO AURARIANO

MINISTERIO DE LAS RELACIONES EXTERIORES
bajo la autorización del Consejo de los Commissarios del Pueblo
Clasificación: Sin clasificado
, clasificado, secreto, secreto superior
28 de mayo de 1955
To the Senate and People of the Edessine Empire,

Under the authority of the People’s Council of Commissars, the Commissariat of Foreign Affairs under the direction of Commissar Cayetano Palomo, has released nearly two thousand pages of documents on the mass murder in the Long Sea. Our Government believes in absolute transparency when approaching this matter.

The released documents reflect our commitment to transparency. The documents clearly display communications – all in secret – between the Governments of Auraria and Sikandara detailing the plan. The documents back up the claim that the agreement was Auraria would begin transporting refugees to our shores and in exchange we would not financially, strategically, or militarily support revolutionary cells operating within Sikandara. The only documents withheld from release are the individual profiles of the 600 Sikandari refugees currently residing in Auraria. This is done for the obvious reason of protecting the identities of those seeking a better life.

It is concerning to the Government of Auraria that any other foreign entity would insinuate that our nation would orchestrate a massacre against fellow workers in an attempt to ignite a war. It is especially concerning considering that as of May 28, 1955 the Empire of Sikandara has ordered the execution of 300 people whom identified with the communist ideology. They did this so lightly that it was freely published and made public. If the Empire of Sikandara is so freely willing to murder its own citizens and then publically announce it, then our Government must ask why it is preposterous to say that they would do it to refugees fleeing to Auraria?

Capitalists rally to defend capitalists – this notion is proven and not alien to the Aurarine State. However, the facts remain so: Auraria has saved 600 people from tyrannical oppression in Sikandara and attempted to save 150 more. Sikandara opened fire and killed those 150 people. To further demonstrate the character of our governments, let us analyze the response.

The Workers of Auraria organized a candlelight vigil that thousands attended in respect to the lives lost and the lives in peril. The Emperor of Sikandara ordered the murder of an additional 300 people and publically broadcasted the action.

Auraria’s mission remains unchanged: We are Sworn to Protect.

Signed,
Cayetano A. Palomo

The Imperial Government contests the veracity of the claims emanating from Solis. There was no such agreement between us. Furthermore, we did not attack any vessel. This is quite clearly an example of Marxist disinformation.

The Union of Galindia is saddened to see how the south descends into killing, carnage and savagery. While we understand the reasons of the anti-communist campaign in the Empire of Sikandara, the Union does not understand how come this campaign can become so bloody and how can the execution of 300 communist militants, who before anything else are human beings and secondly Sikandari citizens, be presented in just a simple line of text in the newspaper. Secondly, we understand that in their fights against the communists they have naturally made enemies in the Workers' Republic of Carentania and in the United Communes of the Aurarine State, the apogee of this being the attacks of the Sikandari Embassy in Solis. The governments of both Auraria and Sikandara can yell at each other infinitely and just make the matters worse, ending in a war, probably a world-wide one, or listen to reason and create an international commission of neutral countries that would investigate what happened and provide an objective point of view.

As for the rumors regarding the ship that was sunk by the Sikandari navy, which took with her the lives of more than 150 refugees from Sikandara to Gallo-Germania, our response is the same as before: There needs to be an objective investigation to determine if the rumors are true or not and if they are, who is to blame of the killings.

As if now, the Union sees itself as an anti-fascist defender of democracy, human rights, transparency and republicanism. While we do not wish to enter in any conflict with the southern nations, we are concerned about the events unfolding in Sikandara, as we see the Empire transforming into a fascist state, where the leaders flaunt their political programs with piles of bodies of their own citizens. We hope that the Kingdom of Eiffelland would understand and also join us in this. We hope that the Empire of Sikandara understands that we do not want a grudge with the Empire, but we would like to see an end of this right wing extremism and see that Sikandara is ready to respect the democratic laws and the human rights.

Signed,
Rudiger Holst

The Imperial Government would like to make it clear to the international community that the executions carried out recently were conducted within the scope of Sikandari law, following exhaustive legal proceedings, which duly convicted the 300 individuals to be guilty of treason. The courts were satisfied by the evidence presented to them by both sides in the trials and decided against the defendants in the matter. We believe that concerns being expressed over the matter are an unnecessary intrusion into the functioning of the Sikandari legal system, which is based on the principles of justice and the rule of law.

With regards to the Aurarine allegations against the Imperial Navy, we reiterate our stance that the Empire of Sikandara is not responsible for the deaths and we contest the stance adopted by the Solis regime. The Imperial Government had no deal with the regime in Solis to allow Sikandari nationals to escape into exile into that country. Thus, we can commend the Galindian suggestion of an international investigation into the matter by respected nations which are known for their neutrality in matters of international affairs.

The Empire is home to a vibrant democracy and recently conducted highly successful elections for the Parliament. Our government is representative of the electorate's will and our legislature is known for its active role in domestic and international politics. Thus, the assertion by the Galindian government that Sikandara is inching towards "fascism" is ridiculous and absurd. However, the issue with the Marxists menace is a serious one for our nation's security. All Marxist parties, all over the world, are proxies of foreign governments and it is unacceptable to allow such powers to exercise an influence on the functioning of the State. It is the responsibility of the State to strike a balance between the provision of civil liberties and the protection of the nation. We believe that recent actions on our part do not infringe the fundamental rights of the citizenry of this Empire.

It is hoped that our long-time allies in Trier understand the difficult situation that Shahdara faces and shall stand by our side as we battle our demons.

The United Government of Galindia understands the problems Sikandara faces and will also respect the way the Sikandari law functions, even if we will have our own criticism regarding its harshness. We just hope that death sentences are given to traitors and people who deserve those, not just simple people who support communism. Also, we didn't state the Sikandara is a fascist state but we were simply warning that there is a great chance to go onto that path seeing what levels have been reached in the anti-communist campaign.

Regarding the ship sinking and the Solis Embassy Attack we would want to continue and even start the investigation and we would like to have a commission formed by representatives of Eiffelland, Bourgogne, @Volkova, Heroquoia and Galindia to start the investigation. We will wait for the responses and possible adaptions and changes from the governments of the Empire of Sikandara and the United Communes of the Aurarine State.

30th May 1955

On behalf of the People and Federal Government of Heroquoia I wish to express our inclination to take part in the international investigation under the supervision of the Galindian Union. We feel whenever unjust has been inflicted, truth must be revealed and the perpetrators be punished.

The Heroquois Confederacy is as equally saddened by the latest developments that have occurred in the Long Sea region and calls for moderation!
