The Islamic Union of the Jurzan

Despite the blatant lack of professional and overabundance of baseless derogatory remakes from President Rygaard, the Islamic Union will respond in a professional manner with the hopes of clearing up the misconceptions held by the President.

First and foremost, The Kingdom of Danmark has been a constant defender of the interests of the Jurzani people and has always fought on our side, especially in the times that they were needed most. The Kingdom has not taken advantage of the Islamic Union in any way, and we are proud to say that our ties with them are being increased with each coming day. No nation has done more for the Union Government than the Kingdom of Danmark and for that reason; our two nations are allied and will fight for each other whenever the need arises.

Secondly, it was neither the intention of ICPEN nor the Jurzan to drastically increase oil prices with the intention of profiting at others’ expense. ICPEN was created with the intention of providing stability to the oil markets considering its importance to our economies. With ICPEN in place, the oil producing countries can coordinate efforts that benefit not only ourselves, but all nations. Without ICPEN, oil prices would change continuously as the oil producers continuously attempt to undermine each other in order to gain the upper hand.

Thirdly, the Mezhists, Sikandarans, Parthians, and the Jurzani do not profit from devoting resources, both monetary and manpower, to fight a bloody war. Young men and women, both civilian and military, are losing their lives daily in the pursuit of peace. Infrastructure is crumbling as a result of bombings, bombs made by money that could be spent elsewhere – such as hospitals, clinics, schools, and research. All four nations are suffering from this crisis and it is because of the crisis that oil prices will increase. The increase is not in our interests nor is it in the world’s. President Rygaard points his finger to the ICPEN nations to be war mongers, but he is pointing at the wrong culprits. ICPEN nations that are currently engaged in war are fighting to best preserve peace. I repeat, to be completely clear, the Islamic Union does not see the sacrifices of our people as beneficial, and we are insulted that President Rygaard does.

Fourthly, the call of President Rygaard to boycott ICPEN products in order to ensure the economic collapse of ICPEN nations is, at the very least, hypocritical. President Rygaard has criticized ICPEN nations for not having the ‘interest to serve humankind’ in mind. We do not see how asking for the collapse of all of our economies, which will undoubtedly lead to the suffering of hundreds of millions, serves humankind. Unless, of course, the President means to say that the people of ICPEN nations are subhuman and therefore are not members of “mankind.”

Finally, in regards to the current war that Parthia and the Islamic Union are fighting, Talemantros has been a continuous enemy of peace. Talemantros tried to destroy the Union during its unification, and after their failure, they invaded Parthia and forced the nation to cede Zamosk. Since then, the Empire has been a constant source of threats and aggression. Parthia is fighting for what is rightfully theirs and the Jurzan is fighting to get rid of the one source of warfare in Himyar. President Rygaard lives and leads in an area of the world that is alien to war. He should not be so quick to criticize the governments of a region in the world where war is, unfortunately, a common evil.

When the chips are down, it becomes apparent that President Rygaard has either not read any of the ICPEN's materials, meaning he is woefully ignorant of the facts, or despite understanding what is written, and how reality works, is purposely maligning this noble institution that seeks to help stabilise oil prices for the sake of humankind, meaning he is utilising directed, premeditated slander for personal gain. It is truly disheartening to see the spokesman of a nation claiming to be a bastion of freedom and civility making the most utterly hypocritical and uncivilised statements with regards to nations that are suffering needlessly.

This Great Union never sought war. We were attacked first by the rabid overzealous fanatics hailing from the desecrated steppes of Miroslavl. The Jurzan and Parthia never sought war. They too were first troubled by rumblings in their own neighbourhood. And the Sikandari Empire most certainly never sought war. Instead it first took the path of peace, allowing refugees from a war-torn nation to flock to their shores, before they were mercilessly stabbed in the back by fanatical terrorists who most disgustingly bit the hand that tried to feed them. Only then, reeling from a wound most painful, did they decide to retaliate with justice, a move most deserved.

War is hell. And war is a disservice to humanity. None of us can be faulted for being pushed, dragged, and shoved, into these conflicts that we are now involved in. However instead of understanding that a war economy is an unprofitable economy, an economy meant to mitigate the destructive effects of war, rather than exploit them - if such a thing were possible - President Rygaard accuses the noble proponents of ICPEN with engineering war that they may use a war economy for their own benefit! President Rygaard calls for the implosion of these war economies, the sinking of these lifeboats that prevent the extinction of our people. Surely, one must call into question the President's motives for making such arrogant and merciless announcements.

Does President Rygaard truly stand for freedom? Or does he seek to eliminate nations that he believes stand in the way of his goal of Sylvanian Global Hegemony, his promulgation of a tyrannical regime hiding beneath the mask of democracy? Already, as we have seen in the Gothic, there bubbles a precursor to this idea. And we in this Great Mezhist Union will continue to observe these machinations as they unfold, to see what the President's portfolio truly represents. By its fruits, you shall know what kind of tree stands before you.

The Imperial Government takes exception of the comments made by the Sylvanian president, while respecting his right to hold his opinions, we counter his statements by the assertion that they are not based on reality. The ICPEN does not exist as a political organisation, nor does it move its mechanisms in such a manner. The ICPEN simply represents and protects member-states economic rights and does not control the price, which is ruled by the forces of demand and supply.

We want to remind President Rygaard that the communist state of Miroslavl and its puppet of Raigestan attacked this country first. The Imperial State is currently fighting a defensive war, this war was imposed upon us. We additionally wish to state, that an embargo on ICPEN member-states would only result in higher domestic oil prices. The current situation is not pleasant and it is our hope that the global situation will normalise soon.

After what we witnessed the crisis in Agderrike we are disgusted to have our war of unification called an aggressive one by a nation which is enlarging its sphere of influence on other continents. We have kept high our respect for the Sylvanian Republic, but we are offended to be called a bunch who would do anything to raise the oil prices. This war was started to stop the continuous aggresivity of the Talemantine Empire. We, the Jurzani, Sikandara were all victims of foreign aggresivity. We ask all the civilized nations that are in need of oil, not to boycott us, to destroy our oil industries and also theirs, but to come together to stop the Talemantine Empire. Only when this abnormal regime will be neutralized, Himyar can return to peace.

Governments of Parthava and Mehzist Union,

Looking through the window of international diplomacy my people find it disheartening to have our Kingdom labelled a something akin to an abortion of international failures and greed. The tone in which the Austwegian people are indirectly referred to, in such cases: "the Gothic" and former "Agderike" is offensive and as such expected from Fascistoid Republics, was a direct insult and a stab in the back from the third nation in the world to recognize the Kingdom which has so thankfully embraced the will of the people to be commenced in our first true democratic elections to be held this upcoming Friday.

This shocking but perhaps inevitable betrayal by the Parthavans has left our people doubting how we could have ever hoped for strong relations with socialists. Parthava which came forward with the ideal of improved relations was welcomed, and this Socialist Republic thanked and congratulated for their willingness to embrace our self-determined movement which lead in a new Kingdom and a new era of freedom for our people.

Our thanks and opening of relations however has found us again standing at odds due to Parthavan insults and dragatory statements. Comparing our national movement to Sylvanian comments which decry your oil cartel as an unnatural satanist meat grinding machine for humanity is certainly a shot across the bow of the collective Nordic ship of progress. It gives our Kingdom of the Austwegians the impression that perhaps President Rygaard is in the right and certainly not unfounded in his accusations. Furthermore, going to show that the Austwegians have chosen their friends and allies well.

It is my sincere hope that my incoming government will work all in its power to end Himyarite wars of expansion and find a solution that is not based in the wars of Danish economic conquest from apologetic nations of ill-reput.

I summon the Parthavan ambassador to my Court to explain the insults lodged by his government against my own immediately.

Med Vennlig Hilsen,
Queen Inger Lise I

We had no intention in insulting the movement in Ostveg. We expressed our disappointment that a republic like Sylvania which acted as a bastion of freedom and democracy, which intervened to help avert a civil war, a thing we were barred from joining but still commend, have called our war of unification an act of aggression. We had and continue to have no intention of choking the influx of oil to the rest of the world, but we will fight to see Zamosk retaken from the orthodox oligarchs. We want to apologize if our declaration sounded like an insult to both Ostveg or Sylvania, but we ask for understanding from countries such as yours, not aggressive policies like boycotting.

RYGAARD COMMENDS AUSTWEGIAN ELECTORATE.

A statement from President Sander Rygaard

"As you all know elections in Ostveg have come and passed,my heart swells with pride at the very thought of the immense progress the Austwegian people have made. Our values of freedom and democracy are scarcely found in this world of imperial ambition, fascist mongrels and communist subversion and to see the success of the Ostveg elections gives me great hope that our ways will spread like a wildfire in the current environment. Congratulations to the young Chancellor Solveig Bakken, your party's victory is one that shall be told of for decades to come, the victory that changed the face of your homeland. We here in Sylvania have and shall continue to take great interest in Ostveg as we travel side by side down the path of true freedom and our vow to uphold our defensive pact shall never be broken so long as I draw breath.

We shall welcome your foreign ministers once again within the confines of Charleroi and my own foreign department is excited to reestablish a non-military point of contact. As for our military assets in and around Ostveg, I am happy to announce that the Sylvanian Navy is completing it's trip back to home ports in Sylvania after a stop off in Fey to help Frescanian military assets rescue lost comrades. The Continental Marine infantry regiment stationed in Ulriken will be removed in early March barring any unforeseen aggression from Danmark or objection from the Ostveg Government.

I truly believe that we are entering a new era of revolution, a revolution of the individual. The want to be free of oppressive governments can only grow from this point forward. Ostveg is a great example of this revolution. This revolution shall change the face of governments across the world, The Agder Succession crisis almost ended in war between two factions, between foreign states, but it does not always have to come to a game of political brinkmanship. These crises do not have to result in war, but as long as nationalist entities like Imperialist Danmark continue to attempt to increase their power by tightening their slimy tentacles around the nations of this world, the threat of war remains. Truly we are a cross roads in our world's history and the outcome has yet to reveal itself. Shall the world continue to allow the Danes to increase their influence over weaker states? Or shall the civilized peoples of the world reject this nationalist monster and her fascist allies? I call on the world to do the right thing and embrace peace, for where the agents of Danmark prowl, there shall always be the looming storm of war."

ELECTION SEASON BEGINS!

Lionel Theodore Cassard announces bid for 1954's presidency.

The silence has finally been broken, that time that the capital dreads every four years. In 1954 along with the presidency, half the legislature will be upended and most likely replaced as election season finally begins with Congressmen Lionel Theodore Cassard of Presque throws in his bid for the presidency. Congressmen Cassard is well known in western Sylvania for his radical politics and has been critical of Rygaard's policies in a weekly column he writes for the Presque Post-Gazette. This week he took to the airwaves for the first time to announce his intention to run for president:

"Good Afternoon, many of you who read my article in the esteemed Post Gazette have known my positions on the path our country is currently taking for quite some time now, Rygaard is a good man and has served this country with honor, but he has not done enough to solidify our path to becoming a great and influential nation. I preemptively praised President Rygaard for his intentions to advance Sylvania in every sector of industry, political influence and to become a bastion of Republicanism. I praised his defense of Ostveg from the Danish nationalist, but when he has the very momentum we need he releases it and allows it to be squandered. Ostveg could now be a fully republican state, but Rygaard has instead opted to support a gradual movement, to allow a monarchy, albeit democratic in it's current form to reform in Ostveg and stall the advancement of our great governmental system. If he had continued to put pressure on Danmark, we may already now be half way to expelling them from their island strongholds in the Thumantic and Implaric seas. If I am elected president I promise to root out the evils that our ideology faces and eliminate them once and for all, for the good of all Sylvania and this planet!

Though our good President has done
well to expand our nation's interests internally, he dithers with his caution and fear of alienating his base of non-aggressionists and libertarians. A little bit more aggression now and then will help us expand at an even faster pace and tell our enemies that we mean business. My dear Sylvanians what have you seen in the past few weeks? A brown man fighting in our esteemed halls of hand to hand combat! Sylvania is a nation of white immigrants and it shall, under my administration, stay that way for as long as I may be honored to serve. Currently there are no restrictions on the lazy and lackadaisical stained-skins entering our nation and we have been lucky enough that they have limited means of traveling to our wooded lands and settling the vale below the Twin Echo mountains or grassy plains outside Charleroi. Our future shall and always will be in the immigrants from the old world and I intend on making it an easy affair for their welcome kind to be even more welcome within our humble borders. These are only a few things that I promise upon entering the office of the President and though my time upon this radio show has been short, I shall return through all various media to spread my message. Until that time I bid you all farewell."

This is just the first of the many potential bids that shall be made over the coming month and President Rygaard has yet to announce his own decision on whether to run or not. All candidates must make their bids before April 15th or else be left out of the race to January 2nd 1954.

The political circles and establishment within Charleroi increasingly do not fail in their ability, especially at the height of election year, to pursue and advocate ever-more shrieking political brinksmanship resplendent in a regrettable and unfortunate borish thuggery and despotism ensuring that the nation of Sylvania continues to be poorly led and ill-served by its career politicos and vouchsafing its inability to enter the halls of the respected Family of Nations.

We are increasingly aghast at how the Sylvanian peoples must continue to suffer such calamities with the stepping up to the plate of Congressman Cassard who clearly prefers continuing the shoe-horning of the Occidental nation into the cul-de-sac of warmongering in expressions delivered by Hr Cassard via the national press more suited to a saloon brawler who has had many heavy socks to the head.

With hardly a wafer thin cigarette paper of difference between his ambitions and those of the current incumbent, Hr Rygaard, Sylvanians have little choice in reality between the two ~ it is either more of the same or more of the same yet again but with more bristling weapons and a veneer of Sylvania Redux as the people suffer and are rounded up like sheep to fight the wars of its apish political establishment in their quest to create their empire.

We are sure that there does exist more temperate potential leaders that have yet to come to the limelight and we can only hope that they do for the good of Sylvania, relations with my nation, and for the peace of the globe. But, it can be said that we shall watch on in interest and take appropriate measures accordingly in various forms including under the Occidentia Doctrine.

But even so, it matters not so much what is said in the heat of electioneering, but one does in practice. On that, the jury remains out with a verdict yet to be delivered.

TO: FOREIGN MINISTER WESTERVELD

I initially did not feel compelled to give a response to your venomous drivel, but upon a re-reading your communication I was struck with the need to educate you on the inner workings of certain Sylvanian establishments. I would not expect a hate driven nationalist such as your self to understand that no man can be forced into service with the military in the nation. I would not expect this because you are and always will be incapable of understanding what it is like to serve yourself or to stand equal with a man and hope that they shall see it worth their time to enter into your service voluntarily. I would even go to the lengths of not expecting anyone in your homeland of slaves and elites to understand what it is like to live in a place where you hold no power over a man, because in your land a man is not sovereign over his own person, he shall always and forever be in service of a despotic king and a corrupt crony legislature.

No man shall ever be conscripted, nor forced, or coerced into the service of this country if he chooses to refrain from serving. A Sylvanian citizen is free to serve his country in whatever way they choose and they shall not be punished for their inaction. Any international venture that has been taken up over the course of our history, military or other wise, has been taken up by men who volunteered to serve. There are no sheep to round up here, there is no suffering as a result of our policies and no wars have been fought. Cassard has and always will be vocal entity in our government structure and to see a seasoned foreign officer such as yourself claim to be shocked by what one would most likely find in your own parliament has provided me with some entertainment.
What's even more entertaining is that I must explain this concept to a man who is very much so a sheep himself.

May tomorrow bring you good health,

GABRIELLE UNDERWAY

Crowds gathered on the docks and beaches near the Baldwin Shipyards to see their sons off to sea as the Navy's newest aircraft carrier was put underway with a full complement of aircraft, weaponry and crewmen. The ship will join her sister the SRN Scarlett for sea trials over the next month to work out any kinks in her systems. This new carrier is part of a larger plan in increasing the size of Sylvania's military set out by President Sander Rygaard last year. Although the increase was met with much international skepticism Sylvanian policy makers assured their citizenry and the leaders of the world that these assets would not be used for offensive measures. So far this has remained true, as the rest of the world seems to be embroiled in wars old and new, Sylvania along with only a small handful of other nations have successfully avoided war. The increase in armaments as explained by Rygaard was his attempt to ward off any would be attackers and make the world's empires think twice before challenging our nation to combat. Despite reservations by many citizens across the nation they have finally warmed up to the idea and Rygaard's approval ratings continue to remain a high seventy-seven percent.
The second of the two carriers ordered by the Rygaard administration stands at ninety percent completion and could be launched by mid April where it will have all of it's fittings and systems installed, Baldwin Shipbuilding Corporation expects the ship, dubbed Adrienne, to be completed by the end of May.

JOHN HARVEY ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL BID

Congressmen John Arlen Harvey

Another member of congress has decided to throw their hats into the ring and run for Presidential election that will occur later this year early in November. John Arlen Harvey of Twin Echo is known for his agricultural background and comes from a long line of farmers. His congressional career has been marked by a strong adherence to the non-aggression principle that our current government was founded with. Originally he was a strong supporter of the President's policies but as Rygaard began to push for a stronger military John Harvey denounced Rygaard's departure. Harvey who helped campaign for Rygaard met with the President several times but to attempt to convince him away from his new policies. Though he still holds high respect for Rygaard, John Harvey has been vocal in calling for people to oust him from the Presidential seat in this next election, dissatisfied with the people who were thinking about running against Rygaard with just that intention John Harvey decided to run himself, announcing his intention last night over national radio. Unfortunately the Tribune was unable to get the transcripts of his announcement speech in time for the publishing of this paper. Congressmen Harvey is expected to be at the first Presidential debate in mid march, the date has yet to be announced.

IN OTHER NEWS

- President Sander Rygaard announces his attention to run for second term, "I'm not finished yet." were his words upon asking for a statement about the announcement. A speech is set to be made later on in the week.

- Baldwin Shipbuilding Corporation presents a new carrier design, the design is much smaller than the current Scarlett class. It is intended as a stopgap measure to fill out the navy with better carrier capability. The company has lamented that it cannot keep the pace on the new carriers currently being built for much longer. Congress and the Admiralty board is set to review the new design at the beginning of next week.

- The government remains surprisingly quiet over the conflict broiling in Yujin, between Imperial Yujin, Communist Carentania and Havenshire and Yujiner communist and republican rebels. Many have speculated that the President will touch on the Yujin Conflict in next week's speech.

- Republican rebels seize the Royal Palacein Ostveg
and have taken the Royal Family hostage. reporters on the ground report that Colonel Chester Lewis III communicated with Chancellor Bakken his wish to act as negotiator between her government and the rebels. The young Chancellor promptly replied with "We do not negotiate with terrorists." The line has caused some discomfort for citizens in Sylvania, though they do not condone the actions of the rebels, the Chancellor's quick willingness to dub them terrorists has left them slightly offended. One would wonder if allowing the Austwegians as much leeway as has been given was a good choice.

COMMUNIST CONTAINMENT?
An opinion from our candidates.

Dear Tribune readers, as the Editor-in-chief of this prestigious newspaper I am proud to bring you this special feature never before seen in a Sylvanian publication. The following quotations are the opinions of our latest presidential candidates and the incumbent, as other candidates are announced we shall pursue their contributions to this new news feature. Our candidates were asked about the recent rise in communism and the freshly led wars that have broken out between Yujin, communist Yujiner rebels and the communist nations of Havenshire and Carentania. - Frank Harper, Editor-in-chief.

From incumbent President Sander Rygaard - "I have no plans to contain any perceived communist threat because the threat is just that: perception. The chief communist nations of Havenshire and Carentania pose no threat to Sylvania. Their power is overshadowed by the immense power of the axis of nations friendly to Imperialist Danmark, which includes communists, fascists and monarchists alike. Republicans across the world are being trampled upon and we must help them in a peaceable manner, for example republican Yujiners they are increasingly becoming a footnote in the history of monarchist aggression. We should not have to witness such tragedies."

From Congressman Lionel Cassard. - "It is apparent the very threatening nature of the communist expansion; with home bases in Havenshire and soon to be turned Yujin they surround us on each of our flanks. It is only a matter of time before the disease of communism takes hold in the homesteads, towns and cities of Sylvania, slowly eroding everything we love about our country. Mark my words, if we do not stem the tide here and now our death will be slow and painful, with the world on their side the communist heathens will not need to invade us, only slowly watch us waste away as their infection takes hold."

From Congressman John Harvey. - "I am very skeptical of these threats, I feel they are all perceived merely for the purpose of an attempt to make our people look and feel more important than they need to be. Myself and many Sylvanians across this peaceful nation would like to see a return to the old ways, when one could ask a foreigner if he knows of the nation called Sylvania and he answers with complete ignorance. We would do well to strictly follow our old mantra of live and let live rather than go merrily gallivanting across the globe campaigning for whatever it is one would wish to campaign for. Currently at home it seems the mantra is still live and let live and something much more interventionist in the international scope. The current administration has noble goals, but eventually it will backfire."

CONGRESS UNVEILS RESTRUCTURING PLAN

For the past few days the government has kept tight lipped over its current plans and workings, this silence was broken this morning after plans for major national restructuring were released for public consumption. The plans, supported by the Rygaard Administration cover trade, governmental workings, infrastructure, national defense and economy. Surprisingly the plans call for an increase in government spending which is the reverse of what Rygaard has been doing for much of his first term in office. The plan calls for a new system of parkways to be built between every major city and smaller cities in between to facilitate faster travel times between the east and west coasts of the nation. The plan also calls for an expansion of the rail system, Rygaard wants neither system to be eclipsed by the other so as to offer more choices of travel for everyday citizens. Initially private construction companies will be brought in to work on the project, but the government is expecting to take the brunt of construction needs as the project is too large to be tackled by any number of private entities.

The plans also unsurprisingly call for another increase in military expenditures as part of Rygaard's quest for what he calls a "robust national defense." Rygaard had this to say about the increase:

"My goal here is to emulate the defensive success of the Cantigian nation and her 'Iron Promise.' When was the last time this great nation was attacked? Some would attribute that to their focus on culture, I can agree with that to a degree. However I would attribute it more to the nation's martial strength and positioning, always ready and on the lookout. A robust national defense must be one of our top agenda's going forward into this year."

Indeed the plan has continued a precedent of releasing funds for use in increasing Sylvania's defensive assets. Included in the bill is an approval of a smaller class of aircraft carriers that can be built faster and can be used in conjunction with larger fleet carriers. An upgrade of fleet assets and new orders of cruiser class naval ships can also be found in the plan.

On trade the restructuring plan outlines a need to re-initiate trade with friendly and like minded nations and to do away with trading with un-friendly nations and price gouging nations such as the ICPEN nations in Himyar. The plan focuses on creating new trade opportunities for nations such as Ostveg and Frescania, included was a re-authorization of the purchase of fish from Fey. Oil prices will continue to be set at pre-Talemantine war prices, with government officials wishing to stop the ICPEN bloc from influencing global fuel trade prices. Sylvanian citizens wishes have also been considered in the plans as well, with the increasing interest in Cantignia by the Sylvanian citizenry following the Tennis tournament held not long ago. The government is calling on travel companies to offer new routes to Cantignia. An opening of Sylvanian markets to Cantigian, Austwegian and Frescanian citizens is also planned. Trade with Tyrculir and West March is also expected to be reviewed for ways it can be expanded as well as way to refresh relations between the two nations.

One of the biggest changes is to the government itself, with an outline to create a new continental congress which does away with the old ethnic boundaries of the four original houses that formed the congress, the changes would restructure the borders of every district within the nation and add 400 new congressmen to the 300 already serving. Rygaard had this to say as he came out in support of the restructuring:

"What this does is removes the ethnic boundaries of our current government, we no longer see large swaths of Sylvania populated by Engellexic stock or Monteliamaren stock, but rather a healthy mix of every ethnicity that has immigrated here and called Sylvania 'home.' Political parties would become more important in our government and with the addition of 400 congressmen, expand and greatly make better the representation our people have in Charleroi."

Congress is expected to vote on the measures next week. If passed, many of the measures would take affect immediatly, the election of 400 new congressmen for this "Continental Congress" would occur during the presidential elections. A few outspoken critics have claimed that this plan is simply a way for Rygaard to put all the focus on him for re-election and silence the other contenders for the office as the confusion of elections for 400 new congressmen take place. The Rygaard administration has called these criticisms the work of conspiracy nuts.

Cantigian Peoples for Patriotism in Sylvania

The defense of a nation and patriotic people is hardly propagated by dilution of the very source of its pride, it must be fortified far far and away from mixed or peculiar specimens with a most discriminating eye. We call upon all Engellexic and Montelimarien Folk to harken back to the classic metropolitan cultures of Dulwich and Wissemandie, which now inspire Vesper and Charleroi to perform spectacles on behalf of the globe.

Save for a short half-century of Wieser-Frankitoid corruption, Wissemandie flourished beyond its physical limits by constantly re-inventing its own cultural vitality as a center for the arts. Dulwich did not defeat the full range of Empires and Platforms of modern Europe by expanding its potential political base, it instead unified a horrendously sagging empire under the bosom of a vivacious Queen-Empress. Mister Rygaard seeks the easy road of hazy capitalism towards a legacy of imperialism, essentially betraying the national persona which was supposed to be the Sylvanian Patriot.

BAKKEN VISITS SYLVANIA, TOURS CHARLEROI

President Rygaard was honored to receive a planned visit from Austwegian Chancellor Solveig Bakken. Sylvania was the first stop in a series of planned international visitations for the Chancellor and upon stepping upon Sylvanian soil the good Chancellor was welcomed with open arms. Chancellor Bakken was taken to congress and officially welcomed with a speech from the President emphasizing the need to foster the growing special relationship the two nations have. The Chancellor also gave her own speech to congress echoing the sentiment, during the the speech she personally handed a selection of technical information on the Austwegian jet program, although all information was handed over to military researches weeks ago. A more private meeting was held afterward about the roles the two nations must now play to keep Danish influence in check and other matters that were not discussed with the media.

The Director of Foreign affairs, Autumn Viklund, also met with the young leader personally in her Charleroi apartment where the two women politicians shared afternoon tea, it is said among other things that the role of women in politics was discussed. Director Viklund expressed her admiration for the Chancellor and was quoted as saying that nations like Ostveg are paving a progressive path to the acceptance of female leaders in government as well as for young politicians. Ms. Viklund, herself south of age forty, is one of the rare young female politicians in political office who have been making waves and headlines across Europe.

After the private meetings Chancellor Bakken made a public speech at Corrigan Park to a crowd of thousands who came to see her introduce herself to the Sylvanian people. The speech was transmitted to radios across Sylvania. Prior to Bakken's visit public approval of the Austwegian leader was down due to the handling of the hostage crisis, but after showing herself to the public in Sylvania, citizens seem to be smitten with the young leader and public approval of the young leader has sky rocketed since the visit. As the months go on it will be interesting to see just what Bakken and Rygaard do with relations between the two nations, but for now this growing special relationship seems to be all the more special after this visit.

NAVY HOLDING WAR GAMES IN THUMANTIC SEA

The Navy has announced its current planned activity as warships are now sailing to international waters in the Thumantic Ocean to conduct war games and gunnery practice in a current drive keep the navy in fighting shape to better protect the nation. However the war game seem to be more than just that as the locations are just 200 to 250 miles northeast of Faerorne Island otherwise known as the Island Fortress to Danmark, the nation that holds the territory. The Navy has stated that this was not planned to provoke the Danes, but rather because the weather forecast in the area was suitable for practice; the Navy has also stated that the waters they are training are well outside territorial Danish waters and well within international waters.

DANISH SPY PLANE SHOT DOWN NEAR DUQUESNE!

The Director of Defense has stated that a Danish spy plane was intercepted and shot down yesterday attempting to take pictures of the dry docks in Duquesne. Upon discovering the wreck the pilot were pulled out of the wreckage, one died on the way to the hospital while the other slipped into a coma, currently the pilot is in critical condition. In response to the incursion of our airspace an emergency meeting of congress was convened. An official condemnation of Danish actions were issued and it was decided to fully activate the Continental Marine Corps and raise the military's readiness level to "threatened."

President Rygaard was unavailable for comment, however Defense Director Elliot Faulkner and Foreign Affairs Director Autumn Viklund spoke on the matter.

"This is indeed a great increase in tensions between our two nations, these spying missions are a direct violation of Sylvanian sovereignty and I demand that my counterpart in Danmark immediately answer for this violation. Danish silence on the matter will not be tolerated and will lead us down a slippery slope. I myself believe that this just confirms everything the President has been preparing us for. I will also be contacting our friends in Ostveg and Frescania and ask that they support whatever action we may take in the future to punish this grievous incursion.
"

-Autumn Viklund, Director of Foreign Affairs.

"We are increasing our military readiness levels immediately due to this violation of our sovereignty by the Danish military. The Continental Marines have been put on full alert and war games in the Thumantic have been cancelled so that we may prepare for the defense of our homeland from further Danish incursions. Patrols of our skies have been doubled in response to this incursion."

- Elliot Faulkner, Director of Defense.

The Republic strongly condemns this recent action and we call on the Danish government to take responsibility for said act. We also hope that Danmark does not take any unnecessary action in the North.

It is with sincere doubt that the downfall of the Svaler-class aircraft, individually named Lygtefoderet (The Light Forager), was downed as claimed by the Sylvanian authorities. Further examination of records and investigation with KFA (Royal Danish Airforce) personnel from the military airfield on Færøerne Archipelago from where Lygtefoderet embarked give us reason to believe that there had been technical issues with this airplane but that there had been negligence from air force personnel responsible for rectifying the issue and holding back the aircraft from active service, leading to its demise in Sylvanian territory and the loss of two active Danish personnel. This is an issue currently being addressed.

However, even to a person like Fru Viklund, it must be known that reconnaissance exists from most if not all nations for a variety of reasons. Whilst not discussing this in public before, upon consultation with His Majesty's Rigskabinet, I have been graciously provided with the permission to communicate to the outer-world that this exists. But to stand on her high-horse, like the Sylvanian minister does, and to pretend that is new to her is either an exercise in grand
naïveté or public denial of truth dressed in the frilly-frock of lies that is self-righteousness. At this current juncture Fru Viklund, whilst she spouts lexicon she feels is correct to spew for a domestic audience and to funnel, for the propagandising benefit of Sylvania, untruthes to the Family of Nations and up-the-ante if even for the sake of her own career, the rancourous ideologues of Charleroi, or to give succour to an outwardly rigid but upon the views of some, not necessarily those I share, a mind of blancmange is testament to her.

On this issue, I have received a letter from Fru Viklund, via the High Sovereign Excellency in Dulwich that was forwarded to the Foreign Ministry in Christiansborg. In it are many interesting points. But, in this public statement, I must also point out that evidence has come to light of Sylvanian reproachableness that I shall personally address in my own personal letter to her as well as addressing some of the points she has raised. Until I have written to her in my own address, I shall not make any further public comment on the matter through foreign office statements.

Til: HJ Westerveld, and all other parties that may be concerned

While not holding formal relations with the Danish people, it is this open criticism of Director Viklund that prompts our immediate petition to the specifically the Government of Danmark, and the the European community in general.

The Kingdom of Østveg finds it unimpressive and generally presumptuous that Henrik Joachim Westerveld feels that he can present the argument that spying is a universal truth to foreign relations and thus an acceptable action in the eyes of the international community. In this defense of Danish actions, Henrik makes two errors. He first assumes that spying is done by everyone alike and thus an excuse to conduct covert activity with impunity. Second it makes the error to assume that the international community finds Danish spying to be acceptable. Henrik has now declared; and we should all assume he is aware of the magnitude of his words, that Danmark will conduct covert operations in foreign territory and this is an acceptable action. In the most straightforward manner in which this can be explained, that the Danish Imperium has no respect for international borders.

This I believe is why the international community must take the harshest of possible responses in this Danish action. Danmark must be rightly punished for this action, and we believe that sanctions must be put into place against this aggressive behavior. We urge fellow peace loving nations such as Arendaal and Jurzan to place additional tariffs on petroleum bound for Danmark until this Empire which holds ill-respect for all foreign entities apologizes for their actions, and apologizes for this statement that has been issued. Such an assumption additionally calls for our petition for the resignation of Henrik Westerveld from the foreign services of Danmark. His rhetoric, be it sponsored by the Danish Government, or not, is one of hostility and general discord. His words can no longer be held with respect in international circles. Westerveld's folly is that he believes he can still be held in high regard by his peers. His excuses for the failures of the policies for his government, and failures that edge Europe closer again to war cannot be taken seriously.

Let us make ourselves clear, the united nations of this world, that Danish contempt for the international community cannot be taken lightly, and must be punished severely. Our voices divided will only find ourselves in a position of inferiority and under the fist that Imperial Danmark wishes to silence us with.

RYGAARD SPEAKS ON CRISIS!

A statement from President Sander Rygaard

"My people, sons and daughters of liberty, we now face the greatest threat we may ever know. As I speak the Danish Imperium is mustering 90,000 men with which they say shall reinforce their Faerorne Island. While they do this they stall and send us insulting letters, they would have us believe that violating sovereign lands and laws is an every day occurrence that should be tolerated. But every peace loving man, woman and child knows in their hearts that those 90,000 men are just the first wave in a planned future assault upon our homeland. Why else would they be flying spying missions over our territory other than assess our current defenses and probe for weak points on our shores. I vow to all of you that this aggression will not go unpunished, while there may still be a small sliver of a chance for peaceful negotiation I feel that the greedy Danes will deny us peace no matter what.

Make no mistake! We shall stand against any and all transgressions upon us! Currently I am ordering all branches of the military into the highest alert phase. This is the moment I have attempted to prepare us for, the moment when the forces of imperialism would soon clash with the unwilling forces of freedom and peace. I call upon the world to condemn the Danes for their blatant warmongering, boycott their products, expel their visitors from your nations and arrest their spies before you find their armies at the gates of your cities. No Dane can be trusted; we know it, the Austwegians know it, Cantignia knows it, Frescania knows it, the Communists know it and even other monarchist nations know it. They are not part of the civilized world, they are treachery personified, the forces of evil reborn in mortal flesh.

To our allies I thank you for your support and in the coming weeks I hope to continue to rely on your support to continue to cause of freedom. To nations friendly to Danmark I ask you: will you stand to be a slave to the Danish Imperium? Or will you stand against their war mongering ways and condemn them for their violent tendencies.

The Danes see themselves as the world's policeman, but I must wonder, what would the world be like without the brutal policing of the Danes? I imagine it would be a more peaceful, free and more friendly world. No doubt more innocents would be alive if they did not exist. If the Danes are so honorable and civilized as they claim, they will stop their blatant posturing and come to the table and discuss peace. For now congress shall meet and discuss this crisis and a vote will be had. Be wary of your surroundings, do not speak of military movements around your homes and cities and report suspicious activities and sightings."
