OOC: Now I don't know it any more, Danmark. Will Crown-Prince Sweyn be crowned, or will Crown-Prince Ragnar be crowned?

Well, the events of the past week had led me to assume we were go full-hog 1952, but then this transpired its not the case. In that sense, you can treat the news post as a 'historical' thing - 'From the Archives' - than a contemporary one. In that light, Sweyn will still go and be crowned and all current RP in that aspect will remain untouched.

Statement by the Lower Swieczieman Secretary of International Affairs

It is with heavy hearts and regret-filled minds that the Mezhist Union learns of the passing of the late monarch Henrik XIII. His passing affects us deeply, for it was he that extended the hand of friendship to the Union of Swieczieman Mezhist Republics when few other monarchists would, and boldly declared that the Danes were friends of the Slavs, and recognized the insidious Wieserreich regime for what it was planning to be and declared "No, the Danes shall not be part of this plot!"

On behalf of Premier Dawid Grudzinski, and indeed, all of the Mezhist Union, I extend our deepest condolences to the Danes and their newest king, Frederik II. Long may he reign, and may he continue his father's wishes in deepening the ties between our two peoples.

Imperial oil and cruiser agreement with socialist Medians
Implarian Fleet battle-cruisers HDIS Firedragon and HDIS Zealous have a new life in the Median Fleet for RS1.1m
Two million barrels of oil in agreement
Ingmar Christiansen
Rigskancelliet, Christiansborg

In the first such agreement of the year, the government of the Danish Imperium has unveiled a notable deal with the Socialist Republic of Media ensuring that two of its battle cruisers of the Implarian Fleet are sold with a new life taking centre stage in the fleet of Media with part-payment in a significant oil deal.

The two ships built in 1935, HDIS Firedragon and Zealous, are part of the Implarian Fleet, with Firedragon even having seen active service patrolling the waters around Yujin in 1937-39. Top of their class in the day, the Skaggerak ships are still widely regarded as excellent pieces of naval technology ~ combining speed, agility and sheer gravitas on the high seas ~ with some in the fleet despatched to Boliatur and currently docked in Lower Swiecziema.

The deal will see much of the cost covered in an arrangement guaranteeing two-million barrels of oil, a key bargaining chip possessed by Media and one that it has used to offset the huge cost what would have been an almost six million shilling price-tag for the relatively poor socialist republic. However, RS 1.1 M is still to be doled out for the two vessels to be added to the reserves of the Purse.

Christiansborg has been keen to effect support for the Medians, a largely pragmatic socialist state and a long-time regional ally in the Himyar for many years, and uplift their ability to adequately defend and, if necessary, attack external threats to it notably from the imperio-expansionist Talemantine Empire, Danish policy keen to exert a cordon sanitaire around the country and hem in its outward drives.

"These threats are very real and tensions remain even though they are currently in slumber. The departure of the noble and gracious Firedragon and Zealous to Media ensures that Danish technology is playing a part in regional security though out of our control. They have many more years ahead of them, so long may they serve in the waters of the Sindh!", exclaimed Udenrigsminister Westerveld.

The Prince Imperial commences military academy in Dara
Svend Sørensen-Wulff
Dara, Media

HKH Prince Constantine, The Prince Imperial, has embarked for the shores of Media with the intention of undertaking a four-year's military training in the Aleksandar Vinokourov Land Forces Military Academy in north-eastern port-city of Dara. He will be accompanied by the Franconian-born The Princess Imperial, Princess Petra for much of the duration, marking the first time a senior member of the royal family has travelled outside of the country for this purpose.

Unlike the usual life and surroundings of the second in line to the throne, Their Royal Highness' are expected to be meeting much of military life in a hands-on approach and in a much more grounded manner whilst being stationed in the academy with the Prince assuming the title Cadet Constantine of Roskilde ~ the title of the Danish royal house ~ and being expected to undertake training and lessons with all other cadets including, it is understood, one Potenzan commoner and a Median of noble heritage. Their Royal Highnesses will be quartered in an on-site barracks though one expected to be of slightly higher condition due to backroom pressure and dialogue between Christiansborg and Altaisk.

The Prince Imperial has largely kept silent on the issue of his Daran future, in true royal style, though he did intimate that his almost half-decade to be spent there will allow him to "look humility and the grit of life in the face".

Some have raised eyebrows at the prospect of the Prince going to Media as not in keeping with tradition. But the Prince has reportedly been keen to go and had lobbied actively in favour including to the late King Henrik XIII. His older brother, formerly Crown Prince Sweyn, now King Frederik III has reported to be 'cautious but supportive' of his younger brother. The Prince Imperial himself is a notable conservative, active military man, and patron of the Neo-Reactionist Brotherhood in Danmark, and also the only practicising Tiburan Catholic, itself a cause for concern in social circles.
Rigspung in drive to build currency gold
Jesper Bruhn
Christiansborg

The Rigspung, the Imperial Purse, has said that sourcing more gold reserves is integral to be able to buttress the national currency, the Rigskilling, or Shilling, to effectively maintain it on the gold standard following concerns that it may have to be abandoned if this demand is not met soon.

The shilling, itself a 700 year old currency unit, adopted currency units supported by gold bullion reserves in 1892 with the accumulation of secure gold sources and building of reserves a key plank of foreign policy for much of the past half-century, in earlier days the hunger for gold backed by gunboat diplomacy. But as economic growth has increased in recent times and pressure has built to increase the money supply, the urgency of obtaining more gold reserves has become a focus of the Purse, with demands that the supply needs to be increased "soon".

Largely stable for the past 25 years, the economy has grown in a steady flow with enough gold to back it and with little of its supplies filtering out abroad, a net inflow of gold being the trend. The stability of the economy and the stability of the currency have reassured most business leaders and other international nations that the shilling is "stable, solid and trustworthy", as said the Keeper of the Purse, Hr. Holger Sweinssen. But for this to continue to be the case, Danmark needs to secure new sources and revive intensive contacts with other countries with a great deal of quid pro quo.

At the current time, the poor Frescanosphere state of Sucrecia is on the hit-list of nations that the Danes appear to be softening with a keeness to either own important gold mines to take the product back home, simultaneously injecting money into the Sucrecian economy and ballooning its employment chances; or to secure a deal that guarantees the supply.

The 1935 Skaggerak Class Battle Cruiser HDIS Zealous to be sold to the Medians
Consequences for Yujin after hostage murders
Henrik Kierkegaard
Christiansborg

As the corpses of the four unfortunate Danes murdered in cold blood in Yujin are carried across the seas back to the Homeland, and as the three surviving Danes are consoled and tell their stories to the government representatives in the Embassy in Zhenjing, the Foreign Office has been in rage at the Yujiner authorities with Hr. Westerveld pledging that "more shall be done to avenge the deaths of our compatriots" and that "Yujin is directly responsible for their deaths".

The four Danes ~ Ulric Fendergaard (27), Caspar Guldborg-Schmidt (32), Nicolaj
Nørgård (22) and the youngest of them all, Christopher Bandstrup (20) ~ had their bodies carried aboard the HDIS Perilous in a seven day voyage to Frederikshavn before their burial in their respective hometowns. Some arch-nationalists have called for official recognition of their deaths with a State Service, normally reserved for prominent figures, and the posthumous bestowal of the Order of the Vermilion Cross, a major honorific title and medal, by the King.

Although official press publications of the seizure and eventual assassination of the Danes indicated a link to factions of the United Railroad Worker's Association, news is trickling out from the Danish embassy in Zhenjing that the deaths are attributable to state police which is likely to have significant consequences in Danmark's relationship towards Yujin from economic to policy level.

"The carefully detailed analysis and composition of the accounts of the Danes alive and safe in the embassy throw new light on the truth of what happened and this is far beyond what we expected and indeed first knew. We placed great trust in Yujin to be protectors of persons of the Imperium but this trust has been shattered beyond repair. It is amply clear to me and those that are availed of the truth, that something is very wrong inside Yujin and that it is rotten from its deepest roots to the tips of its branches. Corruption has taken hold in a sinister fashion and our people have become victims of it. But, the thirst for revenge will not go unquenched. The corrupt official authorities may try to frame others and throw up a smokescreen to cover their direct hand in the deaths of innocents, but we will make sure that it never happens again", the Foreign Minister said in a lengthy official statement.

The Rigskabinet, shaken by the deaths and mounting public anger directed at Yujin, is due to hold an emergency cabinet session tomorrow to plan the next course of action. Representatives of the government have meanwhile entered into talks with moderate leftist factions within Yujin in a fact-finding exercise and, indications are, in a drive to elevate their political and tactical muscle with hardliners keen to see the overthrow of the current regime though moderates are reportedly looking to find ways of hurting Yujin hard but falling short of support of the regime's toppling, preferring to isolate and see punished those directly to blame. However, indications are that the government may demand the trial of the state officials in Danmark itself with the issue of a warrant. Needless to say, concerns are that one or two selected perpetrators may not be enough as the corruption may go further up the chain to higher levels within the Yujin establishment with fears that the 'big wigs' may seek to throw a few scraps to protect themselves and take the heat off them.

Meanwhile, on the streets, Yujin businesses have been attacked in Fredrikshavn's tightly-knit 'Yujinerstad' with one Yujiner shopkeeper set upon by a gang of around 20 plank-wielding youths, hospitalising the man and commencing to burn down his shop and destroying four others following widespread looting of his premises and those of other Yujiner extraction by crowds of an estimated 120 people. Yujinerstad, the heart of the emigre community, has been shaken with many fearing for their lives. Canton police have been drafted in to help protect the Yujiner's following criticism from more sympathetic sections of the city council that the canton government had simply stepped aside and allowed the thugs to go on the rampage.

Shipyard workers demand better pay and conditions
Ulf Sweinn
Fredrikshavn

Unions and non-associated shipyard workers have petitioned the government for what they call 'common sense and decency' in raising the living wage of ordinary workers as the Danish economy has shown consistent growth, arguing that the government has ignored their plight and that wages should reflect the general economic up-wind.

The United Congress of Dock Workers (FKH) sent a delegation to Christiansborg to cement their case in a meeting with the Minister for Industry, Hr. Thorbold Argenssen, in which a three-hour meeting took place in the Ministry Building in the Old Government Quarter of the Imperial capital.

Following the meeting, the President of the FKH announced that good progress had been made with Minister Argenssen who was "sympathetic" to the dire situation of the dock workers.

"The dockers alongside the farmers and the military are the backbone of the success of the Kingdom and the Imperium. We are naturally and justly in demand of recognition of this fact, afterall it is we that build the ships that help to carry forth the power of Danmark across the world, our illustrious nation. Whilst we lobby for wage increases, a natural demand and one that is of great impact for our members, we go much further. We demand a working week of 43 hours as opposed to the current medium of 53 hours. Our members work under the standards of the beginning of the reign of King Henrik XIII in 1913, the Henrician Standard. What might have been deemed sufficient at the turn of the century no longer seems normal nor humane. Aside from a reduction in hours, we strongly petition that our members be entitled to at least one-and-an-half hours' cessation from labour for food, recreation and liberty. We might work in the yards for the beneficience of the Imperium, but we are at least entitled some respite. Blood and sweat we give in ample quantities, all we ask for is a lay-down, rest and friendship with our comrades in a meaningful fashion".

It is understood that the lobbying of the United Congress has been received into the heart of the Old Quarter though there is still significant disagreement over the level of the wage that dockers are to be officially granted.

Carentanian relations to be couched in 'wisdomic pragmatism'
Ingulf Carlsen-Damsgaard
Christiansborg

News of the intention of Carentania to launch naval exercises in the Long Sea has been judged as non-threatening to traditional Danish maritime security policy, according to Foreign Ministry mandarins, and is a prelude to a new era of closer cooperation between the Imperium and the socialist nation.

It is expected that Danmark and Carentania will see much of a closer working relationship with regards to the Long Sea with both nations having a vested interest in regional and national security in which the Long Sea is a key element. Keen to suffocate rumours of the rise of Carentania and a 'muscling in' onto the 'Danish turf', the Foreign Ministry was keen to assert that the involvement of Carentania was a boon rather than a hindrance as two nations working together in common accord would greatly assist both nations and greater regional security which neither can achieve in isolation and to full effect.

Relations with Carentania are also expected to be in focus in the future as they are actively engaged in arming and supporting Media, an operation that works largely in tandem with the Imperium which currently has 32,000 personnel of the Imperiumstyker stationed across mulitple key points and along the border with the Talemantine Empire. Uniquely, both nations have seen a common purpose in the re-absorption of Zamosk back into its original homeland of Media with the Talemantine-backed Despotate of Zamosca increasingly surmised to be but a brief interregnum.

Whilst acknowledging that Carentania and Danmark are very different, many in the Udenrigministeriet take great store in the current and future efforts that have been discussed in back channels for some months.

"Carentania and the Imperium are clean different things and there shall be no removal of this base fact and we are not naive about the potential for conflicting interests. Fundamentally, both are opposed to the roots of each other and this is irrefutably anchored. However, times call for looking above naval gazing and the result is that there are good relations irrespective of this fundamental conflict, a conflict that can wait for another day. In true sense and with true demonstration of maturity, both nations can see the common purpose. Whilst not instantly cosy bedfellows, we are, to put it, bedfellows of convenience, something more than likely shared across both camps. We are both pragmatic and this is of great purpose and effect for all from Langhavet to Media. We expect to be rubbing shoulders with our comrades across the water for some time to come", so opined Hr. Henrik Westerveld, Danish Udenrigsminister.

¤ Westerveld in broadside at 'domineering' Rijeka
Udenrigsminister Hr. Henrik Westerveld delivered a unprecedented attack against the policy stances of Rijeka following widespread demonstrations outside the Danish Embassy and criticism of the forthcoming meeting with the leaders of the Mezhist Union due to be held in Wislica, Lower Swiecziema. Hr. Westerveld, in a press briefing, denounced Rijeka for its "our way or no way" approaches to the Nations which he claimed was a "lamentable turn of events" and a "sure way to alienate all and sundry". News has it that the Udenrigsminister is both 'alarmed and perturbed' at the attitude emitting from the Worker's Republic and that the Carentanian ambassador to the Court of St. Ansgard has been called into the Foreign Ministry in order that the Danish concerns be struck home loud and clear. Hr. Westerveld lambasted Rijeka stating "It is ominously clear to me either due to a lack of sufficient education and understanding of Danish foreign policy or due to a deliberate strategy of grand sabotage, that Rijeka is ploughing a lonely furrow to nowhere. In some instances it appears to be nothing more than peddled vainglorious piffle. This shall not stand unchallenged. It is our duty to point out where Carentanian policy is wrong and, in this instance, it is way off the mark of truth. It is clear, for all that Rijeka throws up the obfuscation of deflecting smoke, that it has badly misjudged the consequences of its approach to the Imperium and has absolutely no understanding of Danish history at all. I doubt that Commissar Sitar even knows anything about the Dano-Sarmartian links and if he does he fails to demonstrate it in his pronouncements either through ignorance or a general careerist kowtow to his superiors." He went on to say: "But this goes beyond Dano-Carentanian relations. The template of rough handling has been applied to others as well. We only have to look to the uncompromising manner that the independent Jurzan has been maltreated by Rijeka despite Sharjah's noble and valiant attempts at rapprochement with its western neighbour. Who is next? Media would be on the cards, I'm sure. In essence, unless the line of Rijeka is towed and unless Rijeka can muscle in on the operation in arch-control, you are cast out. That is an appalling, arrogant and domineering way to conduct foreign relations to all but especially in the volatile Himyar. Carentania really should heed the lessons demonstrated by the Frescanians - the true and noble way to benificient and influencial. In that sense, Rijeka needs to get a dose of realism and learn lessons. That or be isolated. But, in our case, Christiansborg will not lie down and be insulted and Rijeka will have to reckon with the consequences". Despite the comments of the Minister, it is not expected that 'mutually coincidental' operations will be stopped, a 'marriage of convenience' being the watchword. It was later announced that Hr. Westerveld has sent a copy of the famous historical work 'A Promise of Doctrine: Dano-Sarmatian relations since 1715' by the prestigious 84 year old Emeritus Professor of Modern History at the University of Aalborg, Lars T. Sommersveld, as a gift to Commissar Sitar.

¤ Long Sea presence to be increased under Stålkæden Protocol
The Minister of the Maritime has announced that the Kongelige Danske Marine will up its monitoring of the Long Sea "forthwith" in what the Minister states are "routine exercises and precautions" in line with the government's
Stålkæden Protocol, or the 'Chain of Steel'. Minister Kragh said that the dispatch of surveillance vessels and a "significant detachment" of the fleet will be exercised from the military port of Fredrikshavn for the forseeable future. Analysts and 'Christiansborgolists' assess that the move should not be taken at face value and that there are deeper concerns and 'determination' in assering the presence of the Imperium into the depths of the Long Sea as a security for maritime trade but also as a signal to regional states that the Imperium takes its role seriously, as well as insurance and preparedness for the 'known unknowns'. An increased preoccupation with Solaren has reportedly been discussed within power circles as well as the insecurity over Polamar, Carentania and Media. Although the Minister's statement fell short of announcing drastic actions over any of the countries, those in the know surmise that the Ministry will not suffer what one called "the affliction of ill manners or the circumscribing of national interests and security" and that "if push comes to shove, the dictation of uncompromising force will be brought to bear". The Stålkæden Protocol was signed into law several years ago enshrining the right of the government to defend national interests through military force, if necessary, against external threats whilst ensuring that the Imperium remained an exacting force in the Long and Sindh Seas. Some detractors have criticised the Protocol as a determinedly hegemonic policy, but it remains the most talked about and known government doctrine ranking against the 113 year old Sarmatiaskdoktrin (Sarmatia Doctrine).

¤ Docker's union to hold two-day strike over pay and conditions
The United Congress of Dock Workers (FKH) has announced a two-day strike commencing next Wednesday following what it claims is a refusal by the government to meet its concerns following several weeks of concerted lobbying for an increase in wages and working conditions. The news was immediately seized upon by both the Minister of Industry and the Minister of the Maritime who jointly criticised the move as "premature [and] grandstanding by hardline socialist agitators who do not speak for the vast majority of the hard working men of the dockyards". The statement, in a communique issued from the union's headquarters in Fredrikshavn, came despite news of a much-vaunted breakthrough in negotiations held in the Old Government Quarter of the imperial capital, Christiansborg. The unions had been arguing against what they claimed was the 'Henrician Standard' of worker conditions, harking back to the turn of the century, and stating that pay and conditions had failed to match the pace of the modern cost of living and contemporary standards. Instead, they had pushed for a wage level at 2% above the level of inflation and advocated 'decency at work' in respecting state employees. The government, on the other hand, has consistently argued that wage levels are fair but that conditions were under review, though it is known there was sympathy within some in the Ministry of Industry, especially the Minister himself, Hr. Argenssen, for the plight of dock workers and that he had been moved to offer a betterment of the pay-packet for the ordinary worker. Union officials have castigated the Rigskabinet for what they claim is an over-ruling of Minister Argenssen in what had been 'generally tough but fruitful talks'. Hopes are that the strike can be averted at the last hour but the chances are slim according to many analysts.

¤ Government moots trade bloc with the Nations
Following extensive talks, the Realm has signalled it's intention of striking up a mutually-beneficial trading agreement with the multiplicity of nations of interest with 'coinciding values' in the forthcoming months. Danmark, itself a martime trading nation of repute, is keen to develop and nurture a trade bloc that would not only assist its own ambitions but be of advantage to a plethora of nations of similiar inclination. Although the talks are still at the embryonic stage, Christiansborg has indicated a list of nations in its eyesight including Great Engellex, Cantignia, Frescania, the Mezhist Union, Eiffelland, Agderike, Media, Breotonia, Sucrecia, Arendaal, The Jurzan, and Ivernia. The trade bloc, it is surmised, would not only be beneficial to all nations, linked as they would be in an enterprise supreme, but be of beneficence to the Imperium as it struggles to find export markets and satiate its domestic demand, unquenched by home productivity. The government is expected to go on the offensive to all concerned nations in the construction of what would be Europe's first and largest economic sphere, dwarfing all previous attempts in scope and magnitude, including the erstwhile Germanian League.

¤ Twelve percent increase in phenolplastic manufacturing
Plastics manufacturing is at a high as official figures indicate a 12% increase in commercial and industrial phenoplastic merchandise over the past five years. As the Danish economy reorientates to meet modern demands, plastics have become a significant drive not only to meet domestic demand in everything from specialist parts for industrial usage and commerical components, down to radio sets, clocks, polyamides, detergents, herbicides, and musical records, but also for international export near and far, the demand for plastics and phenol-related products unsatisfied. The Ministry of Industry hailed the recent figures as proof of the success of the remodelling of the Danish economy as phenolplastics become a regular feature of merchandise and within the home. Even so, despite the impressive figures, warnings are on the horizon. In essence, the plastics industry needs to source more oil supplies to meet the demand. The pressure of domestic and international export demands that private concerns find international sources as, it is deemed, domestic oil sources can only meet the requirements for the next twelve years, according to some estimates.

¤ Alpine explorers uncover hidden Dano-Wendmarker border posts
Intrepid mountaineering hikers have claimed to have discovered hitherto forgotten border posts buried high up in the high-alpine border region with Wendmark fuelling claims that the kingdom 'woefully' unenforced national sovereignty over an estimated forty-two square miles of territory spurring nationalists to demand that the government send in the army to reclaim the 'lost Danmark' and blaming the government for 'irresponsible disregard for the national homeland'. The border posts, essentially nineteenth-century sculpted granite pinnacles with the words 'Danmark', 'Wendmark', the respective national crests, and '1892', had lain hidden under an estimated fifteen foot-deep snow cover and were only uncovered due to a recent unprecedented deep thawing. Until the discovery, it was officially believed that the border running between the kingdom and Wendmark ran about 14 miles due north of the border town of Højere Ravnby with official geographical surveys of the region apparently lost in the state archives, though locals and local folklore vehemently claimed the border was actually further north than officials had considered. The result had been that the armed forces of the Border Guard had neglected to enforce the true extent of the kingdom high up in the mountain region though it is not known if the border forces of Wendmark had made any attempt to fill the breach, potentially violating national territory, or whether they were in full knowledge of their own national boundaries and acted in their own jurisdiction. The government has launched an investigation and is to meet with the hikers next Tuesday, including viewing the photographs they took, with the expectation that if government is satisfied of their authenticity will send armed forces to the area and undertake a new national border survey.

¤ Trio in court over murders of Implarian natives
Three Danish Implarians have commenced trial in Ny Roskilde accused of the murder of seven native Implarians in what is proving to be a decsive turning point for the ultraconservative archipelago and a major topic of debate across the Imperium as white-native relations are dissected in full flow. The trial, expected to take its course over the next six-weeks, is unprecedented in the isles and for some a sign of the movement forward in relations between the Danes and the native Implarians. The trial centres over the cold-blooded murders of seven natives in the space of two-days in what is purported to have a racial connection. Allegations abound that four men and three women were murdered, two of the women having been raped, in the village of Skidelsby, eighteen miles from Ny Roskilde, on the main island of Gustavsø. Initial reports suggest that the victims were unarmed whilst the three accused carried illegal firearms with one harbouring a carving knife which, reports allege, was used upon one of the murdered men. Activists have hailed the court appearance and trial as indicative of a groundswell of opinion that in past times would have generally seen such murders be swept under the carpet due to a 'institutional bias' within Danish Implarian society and officialdom. First results of the trial process are due next week according to Danish legal processes.

Instead of seeking to understand the valid concerns of the Carentanian people and their expression through a foreign policy that clearly states its dislike for such close cooperation with nations that support genocidal terrorism against the Workers' Republic, Danmark has chosen to further insult both the Carentanian people and government. Apparently, trying to sanction the supporting of states whose extragovernmental allies include Mezhist terrorists is irresponsible in the eyes of Danmark and any distance to the Danish policy the "path to isolation". If anything, Danmark has proven to the Carentanian people - the actual "superior" of Commissar Sitar - that it can not be trusted and is actively engineering an anti-Carentanian alliance in cooperation with the Mezhist Union.

Let it be known that, while Carentania may restrict its protests against grave insults towards the victims of Mezhist terrorism to verbal statements. Any attempts, however, to increase the number of these victims will be met with the full determination of the Carentanian people. Danmark has chosen the friendship of the Mezhist Union instead of the friendship of Carentania. That it can't have both it should have sensed in the past.

Office of the General Executive of International Affairs

As always, the Workers' Republic plays its Victim Cards shamelessly, a gambit combined with desperately hoping all of Europe forgets the Red Horde's true intentions: worldwide revolution that will topple civilized governments such as that of Danmark. The Imperium is wise to mistrust the intentions of Carentania, for Carentania can never truly interact on an equal basis with any government not of its crafting... and indeed, governments of its crafting are treated as slaves rather than partners! Those governments that do not fit its worldview are governments put on the reassuringly long list for subversion, sabotage, and eventual overthrow, in a blatantly artificial attempt to bring so-called 'freedom' to the people, when in fact it is 'freedom to be oppressed'.

It is thus, on behalf of the Confederative Mezhist Republic of Lower Swiecziema, that we express great interest in this proposed trading bloc the Danes propose, and vow to give extensive cooperation and consultation to Danish efforts to create this historic bloc that will stand the test of time, communism, and German imperialism.

Sincerely,
Roman Askenazy, Vice General Executive of International Affairs

We feel commended about the fact that the Danish Government is considering us to be a member of the Trading Bloc they propose. However, we are asking ourselves what the intention behind this trading bloc will be. It should be noted that Eiffelland is a Germanic country as well. We have historic and cultural ties with Danmark, but also with Franken, Wiese and Wendmark. We don't want to give up any of those ties.

I also want to indicate that the blockade against Boliatur is completely justified by the terrorist intentions expressed by the regime in Boliatur.

The High Kingdom is honoured to have been considered in the formation of this trade block, and is eager to be an active part of it. Ivernia is always looking for forward and progressive methods of improving trade-relations between her allies and even further abroad, and so commends the Great Danish Imperium for it's ingenious decision.

We hope to hear more of this project soon.

The Republic of Ardennes is disappointed to find itself, as a nation of Gallia and of the sea, not considered for the trade bloc. We hope the Danish government will reconsider their position and include Ardennes in any future economic and trade discussions.

[OOC: ha, I understand why I wasn't included originally but wanted to make it know I was interested!]

¤ Grand naval exercises of the Nations in Langhavet
As Forvarsministeriet announced an increased naval presence within the Long Sea, it further announced that a grand international joint military exercise is to be conducted off the coast of the isle of Fremandie, Frescania in the central Long Sea. Alongside the Kongelige Danske Marine, fleets from Great Engellex, Agderike, Frescania, Media, Ivernia and The Jurzan will engage in the largest peace time and extensive friendly operation in recent international history. Observing military officers from Potenza are also expected to attend. The grand exercises, expected to last for three days, are viewed as an ideal opportunity to test out a plethora of super and submarine vessels and maritime aircraft against each other, enhance battle-readiness and general training, and test the limits of military warfare theory and tactics. In the contigent, two aircraft carriers, Kong Benedict V and HM Dronning Margrethe III, are expected to carry recent Ivernian aircraft purchases and test their abilities alongside Danish equivalents. Forvarsministeriet has been keen to demonstrate that the exercises will be of great advantage to all participant nations. The Defence Ministry had been keen to secure the input of the smaller Median and Jurzani navies to better prepare them for their own national defence and a regional Himyari security balance. It also proclaimed that the 'games' would greatly assist the KDM in future operations in the Langhavet region and also as tensions build around Boliatur. Analysts surmise that the currently friendly exercises have the potential to be constructed into more formal arrangements, a precursor towards a formal alliance or 'working relationship' with a mounting drift in that direction among some nations.

¤ Kongelige Danske Marine in surge around Boliatur
The Statsminister has made it clear that the possible buttressing of support for the Myrinist strain of post-delegationism by Marshall Dorgon of Jurchen and the Carentanians shall be met with 'unshirking unequivocality'. As Marshall Dorgon of Jurchen and the Carentanian leadership threaten to stem the hemorrhagic calamities within the frenzied Boliaturan leadership and the latent threat to the monarchy of the Imperium, monarchical systems at large and world peace, the Statminister stated that the Midgaard Fleet stationed around Boliatur, and logistically supported by the Mezhist Union in a special arrangement, shall be placed in a state of extra vigilance and manoeuverability and will be joined by naval forces currently stationed in Danish Implaria with 'immediacy'. However, there has been concerted talk that the government may give the go-ahead to the immediate despatch of ground forces into Myrsini by landing them onto beaches from troop ships preceded by comprehensive aerial bombardment to alleviate the plight of the small community of 'strickened Danes' caught up in the Boliaturan implosion, who are subject to vengeant assaults and physical attacks by die-hard post-delegationist supporters of the Myrsini regime, alongside the defence and security of the Governorate compound, sovereign territory, the ability to defend the compound coming under dire strain as stocks of weapons to stave off the over-run of the buildings diminish the longer the crisis continues. Figures range from 4-7000, though the Statsminister refused to be drawn on the issue when probed on the matter, though he is to dispatch the foreign minister, alongside initiating high ranking back-channel talks, with the Mezhist Union.

¤ Concerns expressed at Charleroi military aggrandisement
Foreign Minister Westerveld has signaled his disapproval of the signing of a new military expansion programme by the Sylvanian Four House Chambers indicating that the act positions the country as "a malignant wolf dressed in the disguise of a benign lamb". With the final conclusion of the 'National Defense Increase Act' set into stone with the pen of President Sander Rygaard, Sylvania is set to dramatically bolster its military reach and power with a commensurate boost to associated industries engaged in armaments manufacturing. The reorientationist ambitions of Sylvania have been viewed with askance across several capitals with Great Engellex leading a charge that it comprehensively dawns a new era of "instability and tensions" in a precarious European peace. The Imperium which in recent times has seen itself drawn into closer concert with key capitals, as either agitator or protagonist in the defence of the current order in 'Grand Benignity', is increasingly concerned at "clandestine threats" to the Occidental order in the respect of the Dominion of the West March and has been apoplectic at diatribal attacks upon its close ally, Frescania and the greater Frescanosphere, seen as one of the key lynch-pins of the current world order. Hr. Westerveld, in a special statement, called upon Sylvania to "retract and reconsider" the Increase Act. "I am somewhat disappointed that the ideologically naval gazing and duplicitously ambitious President Rygaard, a man of Danish descent, who is a otherwise a noble leader first of all shoots misguided claims about aspects of the world order which bare no relation to fact and reason, as if Sylvania is the world's only believer in a hitherto unknown doctrine of purity, and then compounds this by shooting well over what is necessary in Sylvanian national defence. The anticipated and existing posturing both within Sylvania and further afield do not serve the republic with any justice here and in like-minded nations and they serve to alienate Sylvania. Better a friend than an enemy to the world, a cross roads is coming into view and huge questions have to be asked within Charleroi. It has to decide if it is to be a global partner as a sleeping policeman or whether it intends to strike out alone but be swiftly curtailed by the Noble Nations which will surely happen if this Act is exacted as initial indications appear. My own advice, as a matter of compromise, is to suggest that the actual practice of the Act does not meet the full bounds of its intention on paper. In other words, act with a more cautious and reconciliatory pose towards others by not pushing to the limits of what the Act intends. Contrary positions are likely to lead to much egg on the face of the Four Houses and President Rygaard otherwise which we do not particularly want to see". A call by Dulwich to Christiansborg has been received generally well with Hr. Westerveld expected to embark on a 'stick and carrot' approach towards Charleroi with sanctions to be imposed on Sylvania at some levels failing an agreement, and talks with several governments, some conducted by new Sovereign Plenipotentiary Ambassadors.

¤ Overhaul in diplomatic representation
The Rigskabinet has issued a directive that will see significant changes in the manner in which the Imperium conducts its extra-territorial relations as it undertakes a major initiative of representation in coincidence with the state of current affairs designed to enhance its presence in the Nations and, in some cases, send a message as to how it views states across the globe. Currently, only Rigsambassadører ('Realm Ambassadors') exist, but they are circumscribed in their powers with ultimate direction from Christiansborg. Some of the Nations will gain enhanced diplomatic representation and upgrading with the creation of what many have called 'elite ambassadors', officially Suveræn Befuldmægtigede Ambassadører (Sovereign Plenipotentiary Ambassadors). Entitled to be styled as High Sovereign Excellencies, they would be afforded enhanced powers in essence demi-foreign ministers, capable of acting semi-independently of Christiansborg and with greater gravitas and entrusted to only the most senior diplomats. As foreign policy becomes more intricate and time-consuming, the roles are intentionally 'enhanced arms' of Christiansborg aimed at the 'inner circle' of the most stable states and those it actively nurtures in localistic power-projection. With the right to sit in the cabinet, nine have thus far been styled and are destined for Dulwich, San Salvo, Altaisk, the Holy See, Fortaleza Real, Lunden, Kristiania, Emryn Aren, and one for the entire Mezhist Union. At the next tier, lesser 'enhanced ambassadors', Suveræn Udsendinge (Sovereign Envoys), styled High Sovereign Envoy, will be created with lesser powers but with a considerable degree of jurisdiction. Keen to retain the central importance of Dulwich in Dano-Engellexian relations one each is to be sent to Vesper and Cobham, ensuring enhanced missions at the next highest possible tier. Others are destined for Trier, Sharjah, Shahdara, Westhaven, Emajic, Villesen, and Bán Dair Cathrach, and one for the entire of Gallia encompassing several countries. Sekretær Befuldmægtigede (Secretary Plenipotentiaries), styled in the simple acronym Imperial Secretary, will be created, though with downgraded powers, with greater central direction retained by Christiansborg, are to be created in Rijeka, Nokanawa, Fengtian and Charleroi. Most other nations shall continue to have Realm Ambassadors, but a fifth level, Værger Generelle, General Governor, have been established with almost complete control by the Danish cabinet with a specially formed committee, the Governors essentially titular figureheads. Prime among these is Myrsini, Rovopolis (Despotate of Zamosca), and Arvi (Socialist Polamar). In an anomaly, due to tensions, the representation in Augsburg is at the low level of General Governor, though expectations are that this may be increased to the level of Secretary Plenipotential. In an addition, the sub-embassy entities of Rigskonsuler (State Consulates) have been created, to focus on key geographical areas, for Fontaine-Harcourt and Valmy (Engello-Montelimar), Dara (Media), Porte de Victoire (Fremandie, Frescania), Abasha (The Jurzan), and Guldfort (North Carolina Islands, Cantignia).

¤ Whale drive hunts at risk say Faeroerne residents
Faeroerne islanders have highlighted the threats to their traditional livelihood as less whales are culled each year due to pollution and the effects of sonar waves from international naval vessels. The thirteen-hundred year staple of island life, which traditionally attracts hundreds of fisher-folk near to Gamle Kongensted and other towns and villages, is a staple of island life among the historical archipelago's people providing them with the quintessential Fareoerne cuisine and important oil, wax, and foodstuffs such as margarine, commercial paint, and also spun into such mundane items as candles and, until recent times, fuelling street lighting as well as being exported to the mainland and international market. The tradition has it that mini flotillas of small fishing boats hem in pods of whales by frightening them into beaching upon beaches of the islands before to die and then stripped of their blubber and other essential produce, increasingly mechanised. But islanders state that this old backbone of their island way of life and economy is threatened as never before and have demanded the government of the 'Family Imperium' step in to alleviate their plight. Christiansborg has shown a great deal of sympathy by undertaking marine observations and has promised to reduce the use of sonar, though the Kongelige Danske Marine has stated that the use of sonar is integral to national and international obligations, and it has also stated that young whales should be off-limits to be hunted to allow natural replenishment by reproduction of healthy whale stocks. They have also been keen to point out that the growth of neighbouring naval forces and fishing fleets has had a more detrimental effect upon maritime fauna, with statistics showing the year-on-year decline of whale pod-strength matched by the commensurate advent of Occidental entities.

PRESSERENDE BULLETIN :: SPECIAL BULLETIN
The Rigskabinet has announced the immediate and special deployment of the Second and Third Jutish Fleets which are to set sail from Fredrikshavn within the next three days towards the High East. The Second Jutish Fleet will make its way towards international waters and into the Sea of Sindh to seal the Sindh-approaches to the strait in the middle of Sikandara against possible intervention by other nations. The Third Jutish Fleet, with terrestrial Crown Forces, shall be ordered to set sail to Boliatur to assist the incumbent Migaard Fleet already stationed around the northern coast of Boliatur.

The Rigskabinet in a further announcement, following an intensive session in the Rigskancelli, have announced that detachments of the Kattegat fleet currently stationed in Dara, Media, alongside ground forces there shall be dispatched with immediate effect towards the narrow strait between the landmass of Sikandara and onwards into the bay that is bordered by the southern coast of the socialist republic of Miroslavl. Official permission has been given to concentrate upon the capital city of Miroslavl, Volodymr, and the smaller city of Kamyshin-Zernovsk, with the Rigskabinet stating that 'invasive and subduing' orders have been granted to the Crown Forces. The Kongelige Danske Marine has been reportedly been ordered to liaise with the army and marine forces for the likely invasion of Miroslavl within the next week in a joint effort in order to sequester the republic which numerous reports by non-governmental analysts suggest has incurred an ire and response above that expected by most in observer-circles.

His Royal Majesty cannot abide to what appears to be suggested news of a Danish war in the Northeasterly Slavic lands. Haakon V worries deeply about potential problems in the stability in the Danish Gold standard, which was rumored to be in unsatisfactory health months ago.

His Royal Majesty, as a friend and as a brotherly nation believes that this potential folly of involvement in this arena can only present harm to the stability of Germania and ultimately lesser positions for readiness against the Occidental Radical Republicanism and the Himyarske factions of Communism. We hope that this proves to be a most limited engagement in so that event does not find itself being the proclamation of a change in the Germania balance of power.

We hope that the Danes do not shirk their responsibilities as a Gold Standard bearer as this may ultimately doom what remains of the Norse cultural based economies, especially since the failures of the Northern Council and their economic mismanagement have collapsed those of the Aren and Götes. Agder and Fey maintain trust with the Danske, but ultimately this suggested attack comes to Kristiania as an absolute surprise. It can only be hoped that such surprises can be avoided in the future if closer ties are to be made between our great kingdoms.

Med Vennlig Hilsen,
Solveig Thorsnes

The Republic is shocked to see such an aggressive stance by the Kingdom of Danmark. While Frescania has never doubted the aggressive ambitious of Miroslavl, we cannot support an outright per-emptive war. Furthermore, the Republic cannot stand with Danmark in siding with the Samartian Union, a reactionary regime as dangerous as the Kingdom's target.

The Danish ambassador has been called to provided further information to the President and Government of the Republic.

How hypocritical of the Danish Crown, you condemn us for carrying out our right to better defend ourselves and then turn to declare preemptive wars on two nations. You are dooming your people to a needless slaughter and near the winter no less. We know asking you to stop and rethink your actions will do nothing, so we pray, not for the King or his ministers, but for the people of Danmark who will suffer for his hypocrisy.

The Federal Republic extends an offer for the use of its good offices to broker a ceasefire between the two sides in this developing conflict. We hope that both sides will pay heed to our offer and come to the table; to save blood and treasure from being shed, so soon after so many fell in Solaren. President Strand has asked for a meeting with the Danish ambassador to discuss this most serious matter.

The Grand Duchy sends her support for the Danish efforts to bring peace to the Boliatur region, and bring an end to the madness that threatens the balance of Europe. If the Kingdom requires any effort from Potenza's part, we will gladly offer what is required of us.

The Republic of Ardennes is alarmed by the escalation of conflict in the Boliatur region, especially considering the rhetoric concerning peace and stability emanating from the Danish regime and its partners. We hope that the parties involved in this conflict continue to consider the ill-effects such a conflict could have on the prosperity of Europe, and encourage all involved to seek a swift and peaceful resolution.
