We urge all sides in the conflicts surrounding Boliatur and Miroslavl to accept the Teloran offer for hosting a conference on the matters at hand. We currently see two conflicts escalating into a worldwide war at an alarming pace. We warn all warmongering parties that the war they are preparing will not know a winner but only loosers.

Should the current events indeed turn out into a war, then Eiffelland will remain neutral. Effective immediately, all Eiffellandian involvements in the military blockade of Boliatur will be stopped. We ask all parties involved to recognise Eiffelland's neutrality in this matter.

Rudolph Kögler, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Vice-Chancellor

OOC: In the 2012 setting, I was RPing the preparation of a fleet for taking part in the military blockade of Boliatur. I was doubting whether I would be capable of sending a fleet over there due to provisioning reasons in a 1952 setting, but it would come in too handy if I say at this moment that I was not involved. Therefore, I choose to make it a bit difficult for me. Anyway, I'm getting out of there.

EDIT: Oh, wait. Neither Engellex, nor Danmark, nor the guy previously (or still?) RPing that Mormon state in the East RPed that their fleets were already there, so maybe my fleet wasn't there yet, either. Therefore, the sentence part "while we withdraw our ships from the Snieg Ocean" has been removed. I was just not there, although I was ICly taking into account that it could be needed to send a fleet there.

ANOTHER EDIT: I have edited my phrasing above, because on second thought I considered it too harsh.

A New Deal heralds fresh Himyarsk dawn
Ally-treaties with Parthia and The JurzanDanish grace to remain in-situStatsminister has "saved his bacon"
Ingmar Christiansen
Rigskancelliet, Christiansborg

With the ever-present and onerous mix of continuity, change, and conflict in northern Himyar, the government has indicated that it has taken steps to 'renew the pledge' by arranging ever-more close links with The Jurzan and Partherriget including a ally-treaty as a means to redress imbalances in Dano-Himyar links and as part of a long-running commitment to carry burdens in peace and stability.

The refreshed arrangements will continue to see military presence in the region and the naval bases in Dara and Abasha secured but there will be a greater emphasis on reciprocality in meeting requirements by the Jurzanis and Parthians in supporting the Danes through a wide-range of measures including preferential deals, lease-holds, access arrangements, through to Himyarsk troop support on the ground to the realm when necessary.

Until now, the relationship has consisted largely of a one-way arrangement and this is likely to remain the thrust in reality for some time to come for practical purposes, but the concessions by the Himyar countries is a major coup for the government which had had to content with mounting calls from arch-nationalists for a 'new deal, or no deal' citing expenditure and troop commitments to the region as being unguaranteed of being matched in kind. The arrangements are likely to take the heat off the Statsminister as he seeks to bolster his credentials and thwart a challenge to his leadership from more hard-line elements.

In parliament, the prime minister said that it was an important thing that the country remained in the region due to the threats to peace from the "stalking horses" that have long-led the region to undergo turmoil.

"As long as this potential for strife exists, it is our burden to carry the load or alleviate it at best. The revival of ties best ensures that and is a more secure manner of conducting the high business of defence, politics and the good life".

However, opposition from social democrats say that the arrangements, whilst having some level of necessity, also see a 'grand tutelage' which some of that party have often claimed that they do not feel comfortable with and which is the wrong way to approach the Himyar conflicts.

"Better to wave a carrot than brandish a sledge-hammer", scorned one parliamentarian.

This criticism also came hot off the heels of another development this week as the government seeks to focus more on what it has deemed to be 'progressive imperialism' in international affairs with a major speech this week where he claimed that "this form of imperialism is a thoroughly good thing. It is a concession to penury and we have to help those in need of help when they cannot help themselves. This is an indication of the Benign Realm which is something I support."

Rigskabinet restores Augsburg representation ahead of bilateral summit
Svend Sørensen-Wulff
Christiansborg

Ahead of the widely-discussed summit with
the Wiessereich gathers apace, the cabinet has announced that it shall restore normality in full diplomatic representation by installing a High Sovereign Envoy in the Reich's capital, the second highest ambassadorial rank below High Sovereign Excellency as an indication of Christiansborg's approach. The news met with a stream of protests from arch-nationalists with calls for Hr Westerveld to resign alongside the burning of effigies of the Imperial minister.

The talks, due to commence in Augsburg with the final treaty to be signed in Roskilde, at the 1400 year-old palace-complex of J
ørgensslot at the heart of the Danish monarchy, will be attended by Foreign Minister Westerveld as he meets Minister Babelfisch for the first time after a long conflict between the two countries which some have predicted to be testy and difficult though the foreign ministry poured scorn on those predictions. However, they will be frought with difficulty in the domestic sphere as nationalists question Hr Westerveld's resolve and patriotism. For some, these talks will be a test of faith.

The Foreign Ministry released details of the agenda for the talks which include a wide-ranging tablet for cementation from Rhine trade, reduction of standing troops between the Dane's and Wieser's on mutual border, with emphasis on the Rhine Gap, and scope for cooperation on international affairs.

But the Foreign Ministry drew the line on discussions of German folk unless prerequisites were enshrined at the out-set.

"I am more than willing to discuss the rights of
German descendants hailing from Den Græsrige (Danish for it's neighbour) and from Vestsachsen provided discussions on Danes in the Reich are brought to the table on a mutual and reciprocal tableaux. But we shall not discuss the 'rights' of Dano-Germans or those tracing their lineage to other German nations like Eiffelland or Franken. This is a strictly bilateral deal and has no impact upon wider Dano-League relations", so said Hr. Westerveld.

An advance-car of the courtege as King Frederik III and the Queen Consort embark from the Palace of the JutesHeavy schedule as Royal Tour commences
Henrik Kierkegaard
Christiansborg

Prior to the spectacle of coronation, Their Majesties left to undergo their Stately Tour of the Nations today with the first port-of-call being a State Visit to Dulwich.

Departing on the royal train, the King and Queen Consort will take in a series of capitals in their itinery including also Celtish Ivernia, Agderrige, Arendaal, The See (whereupon the Pope is expected to be bestowed with chivalric orders), Frescania, the Friendly Confines and Germanian Eiffelland, on the return leg.

In all, the trip is anticipated to take around two months and will be the longest time that they have been out of the country. Travelling distances are expected to be huge on the Under-Side segment of the visit to Cantignia and to Danish Implaria, and understood itself to take at least a week or more.

The Court has publicised how the state visits will be an ideal opportunity for the country's government to 'fly the flag' and strengthen existing ties and enmesh new ones to reflect continuing world-wide stability in the face of proxy-wars and also to prepare the ground for the years of change which some have long discussed. It will also be the first time that the couple will see their relatives in Agderrige's King Haakon and a sterling opportunity for the King to meet with his Arendaaler in-laws again.

However, although a wish of the king, he is not expected to meet with the incumbent Crown Princess of Agderrige who has reported to have largely secluded herself from the royal family.

The Gauloise set the backdrop to preliminaries between Christiansborg and Charleroi
Ulf Sweinn
Brivonne, Mergonie

Two nations frequently at logger-heads following fall-out over the High East and Sylvanian armaments, Hr Westerveld is due to meet with the foreign minister of Sylvanian president Sander Rygaard on neutral territory in Mergonie (Mergogne) next week.

The meeting will be the first one following a long-standing antagonism between the two countries following Sylvania's weddedness to the 'Nations of Misfortune' and insults to His Majesty King Frederik's integrity and is predicted to be 'extremely difficult' according to sources in the corridors of power who spoke under condition of anonymity to this newspaper.

It is understood that behind the public diplomatic stand-off, junior sources in the foreign ministries of the two countries had held a series of low-key discussions aimed at finding a position of common ground but there had been significant issues stalling higher-level meetings including the non-move from Charleroi over initial overtures by the Udenrigsministeriet, according to sources.

But the latest official communication via the Danish embassy in Gt. Engellex, which has served as the only official remaining link between the two countries, was the first serious indication of a subtle shift in the Rygaard administration's approach to Dano-Sylvanian relations and has been taken positively, as he called for talks, paving the way for the first official high-level meeting.

"Due to the delicacy of matters at hand, both countries felt a non-combatent nation would be the favoured place to host talks and Brivonne was accordingly approached", Den Danske Tidende was told.

"Although it is a Gauloise monarchical state, it was felt by both sides to be an ideal place for the two ministers to meet away from each others' lands, and Mergonie had taken a position of less heat to be sufficient".

No details of the discussions have been given but most expect that the issues that led to the break-down in relations to be at least touched on and that there may be lesser areas that may lead to a possible agreement, especially in trade and finance.

The unprovoked Danish attack upon a neutral and completely defensive nation is absolutely and thoroughly unacceptable. Carentania protests in the strongest possible terms against this blatantly imperialist act in the wake of a war that the people of Rageistan have absolutely no part in and we demand the IMMEDIATE withdrawal of Danish forces from the peaceful island republic. The Workers' Republic calls upon the European community to not sit idly in face of this act of violent aggression and take a principled stance against this violation of sovereignity of the Rageistani people.

Lest it be forgotten in the cobwebs of history that whereas Carentania excels in the role of the scorned cuckold, we at least do our bit in preserving European peace. Whilst it may seem that we engage in 'imperialist' exercises, this is far from the truth and this is something that we hope that the educated folk that roam the corridors of the Rijekan Commisariate for Foreign Affairs are well aware. If they are not, then we can only hold our heads down and shed tears of sorrow.

Whilst this government puts into practice what it holds, I see Carentania act in opportunistic subterfuge and do its damnedest to wreck the peace we all - Carentania included - thrives under. In its blinkered and self-righteous arrogance, Rijeka really does plough a course of ignorance, myopia and utmost idiocy.

It is time the men of the ministry under the roofs of the communist architecture of repute took a grip of themselves and looked out of the window of their Commisariate into the realms of reality once in a while.

The Danish invasion of neutral Raigestan is as of yet the most heinous display of Danish Imperialism in the conflict against democracy we are witnessing and represents a new dimension in the escalation of the ill-advised attempt at forcing the people of Greater Touyou under the cloak of Germanian domination. Danmark has cast aside all notions of restrain and preservative statesmanship in favor of assault on those that refuse to explicitly endorse its ultra-reactionary cause. The Republic demands an immediate Danish withdrawal of military assets from the Republic of Raigestan and an end of all hostile activities aimed at Raigestani assets, civilian or military.

With the attack on Raigestan the Danish Imperium has embraced open aggression against nations upholding the peace Christiansborg claims to defend, but in reality is mocking daily through its actions. The Jurchen Republic calls upon the international community to not stand idly by as the foundation of global diplomacy is being militarily questioned and attacked by the Danish war machine. Christiansborg has become a threat to world peace that could well cast even longer and more sinister shadows of an expanded war across the globe.

The cause of toppling a brutal communist junta that undoubtedly serves as one of the main vehicles for regional unrest that the reds would seek to achieve in the Orient is undoubtedly a just one. The consistent history of the junta in Miroslav, a puppetmaster of the Raigestani communists, and other communist regimes in Europe prove this. The Union finds the protests from the unrecognized crypto-communists of the great Orient to be equally absurd as the agitation from Carentania, which at this moment is engaging in a military build-up in Solaren territories under its control.

His Excellency General Joakim Häyhä

We were not notified of by the government of Raigestan that they were terminating their neutrality in the conflict between Danmark and Miroslavl, and as such we must continue to consider them to have been neutral at the time of this attack. Given our own long-held stance on neutrality, Congress has directed the Ministry to demand assurances from Danmark that such a breach of neutrality will not be repeated, that Teloran assets in the region will not be interfered with and that Telora's own neutrality will be respected impeccably by the warring powers.

Soviet Republic of Raigestan Ministry of International Relations
This completely unprovoked attack upon Raigestani soil will never be forgiven! Even after maintaining our neutrality in the face of the Danish Empire's war of conquest against Raigestan's longtime ally Miroslavl we still find ourselves besieged by the fascist and counter-revolutionary forces of Europe purely due to guilt by association. The international community cannot possibly allow this act to stand!

The Soviet Republic of Raigestan reaffirms it's neutrality in the greater Miroslavan-Danish conflict, but will resist any invaders of it's sovereign territory down to the last man, woman, and child!

Office of the General Executive of International Affairs

The idea that the Soviet Republic of Raigestan was ever a neutral party in the affairs of its puppet masters, the Hated Enemy in Miroslavl, is laughable to the point of hysterics. It is common knowledge amongst all civilized nations of Europe that North Raigestan is a client Republic of the Soviets, a mere colony cloaked in red and loudly proclaiming independence when it is, in fact, taking orders directly from Volodymr. We urge civilized Europe to join us in laughing off this pathetic attempt to garb our stalwart allies in the Danish Imperium in the costume of the villain, when in fact it is the benevolent liberator, freeing the oppressed peoples of North Raigestan from the corruption of communism.

We also note the blatant hypocrisy that spews forth from the mouth of post-delegationism as it condemns Danish efforts to free the oppressed while it deploys its brutal soldiers in Boliatur to crush the will of the people, weary of anarchism and the post-delegationist plague, as they clamor desperately for order and civilization that they so rightfully deserve. With this, we strongly advise the democratic republics of Europe, who dangerously court the revolutionary plague ideologies, to recognize this hypocrisy as we do, and turn back towards civilization, before it is too late.

Sincerely,
Boleslaw Gorski, General Executive of International Affairs

DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
UNITED REPUBLIC OF SYLVANIA

On the authority of the President and the Four Houses Congress, the United Republic officially condemns this escalation of the war that now grips the regions of Samartia and Toyou. The invasion of Raigestan cannot be explained away by the shills of Christiansborg anymore. It is the duty of the home office of this department to declare the immediate closing of all diplomatic offices administrated by this department located within all Danish territory. All Danish diplomatic offices located in Sylvania shall be given fourteen days to clear out and remove themselves from Sylvania, all permits and identification issued by the Sylvanian government to Danish diplomats shall also be suspended at the end of this two week period. Danish citizens visiting Sylvania will not be affected by any of these announcements and shall be permitted to travel on their Danish passport within Sylvania as they please. Danish citizens traveling in Sylvania should be informed of the closure of Danish diplomatic offices and also informed that any and all passport issues and grievances arising during their stay in Sylvania after the fourteen day period should seek assistance from the Department of Foreign Affairs office in Charleroi.

It is clear to us now that Danmark in its present state will never be a friend to Sylvania on the basis of its blatant violence toward neutral sovereign nations and humanity at large. Non-aggression is held in high regard in Sylvania and your country's actions are an affront to one of our core beliefs. It is also quite sad at how the overwhelming majority of Danes see violent actions as something to be proud of; to think a nation such as Danmark would resort to calling neutral nations weak both mentally and physically is also just as sad. Danmark, in this regard can be compared to the stereotype of the school bully, all brawn and no brain, a stereotype the Danish government is all too happy to play it seems. May God have mercy on the wicked Danish soul.

Director of Foreign Affairs

An Extension of The Queen-Empress' Statement in Council.
DULWICH, TUESDAY, 9th OCTOBER 1952

TO THE KING, LORDS, AND THE COMMONERS OF THE KINGDOM OF DANMARK
I am instructed to EXPRESS on behalf of her Imperial and Royal Engellexic Majesty;

It has been recently discussed within the Council of State, what seems to have developed into a political scandal by those governments representing the fringes of Europe, which can only be hoped was only a poorly thought out manipulation, and not a deliberately adopted position – at least not those states that appear civilised and democratic. There was some dissent toward the argument that prevention was better than action, and that it had been said that, instead of hoping to achieve the attempt at crime prevention, we ought to exercise patience until such a thing occurs, with regard to the alliance existing between Miroslavl and the island state, and should then only make an application of the proper remedy.

Now, it was certainly asserted by her Majesty the Queen-Empress, and the Imperial Cabinet, that the prevention of a crime is the proper and truest function of statesmen and diplomatists; and that to administer a correction to a crime requires the organised action of generals and admirals. War crimes, as it is what I assert here, can only be prevented by diplomatic efforts, but only corrected by the act of war. The first is an operation of peace; the second, the action of war. It is the policy of her Majesty’s Imperial Cabinet to assert the lack of validity in an argument that hopes to determine that measures taken to prevent a crime may by possibility lead to war and great suffering, when it can be shown to be far more probable that the crime, if it happens, will lead to that result. There are quite a number of instances where European conflicts might have been prevented by timely vigour and negotiation, and an equal number of cases in which timely vigour and activity have averted dangerous consequences. If the governments of Europe, in the opening decades of this twentieth century, had not been swayed by the same timidity, or in most cases stupidity, which has prevailed in the administrations of those nations that now oppose the Danish invasion, the soviet state of Raigestan would not be a possession of the Miroslavl regime, but would indeed remain under the sovereignty of Sikandara. Those states proclaiming such a gross injustice of the Danish endeavour in the Near East have indeed truly demonstrated the worst excesses of ignorance in the Modern era.

The Empire of Great Engellex, and indeed the European community, failed with a prevention for the crimes that were perpetrated by Miroslavl against Raigestan, and without a degree of reflection upon such a scheme by the regime of Miroslavl, the only course remaining open to Europe is to remedy the circumstance with action. European nations, which of course is inclusive of those that have adopted potent opposition to the Danish enterprise, maintain in most European countries a paid agent, often of great activity and intelligence, whose employ is to inform their own government with respect to the ambitions and designs of foreign governments. I am not seeking to undervalue or condemn the services of the diplomatic and consular agents Europe as a whole maintains, I know that, on the whole, they are of great benefit to the country which employs them; but it is natural and proper that they should keep a sharp look-out for the machinations of foreign governments. The diplomatic and consular services of Europe, and that includes those in the employ of Great Engellex, Danmark, Carentania, Telora, Sylvania, and Jurchen, failed spectacularly in conveying the desperation and destruction of the Miroslavl designs upon the Sikandaran territory of Raiegstan.

The people of Raigestan exercised no democratic right, as none were afforded to them, on the decision to remain part of Sikandara or to assert independence, and certainly no democratic participation was observed within the island on whether to adopt the system of government desperately being attempted as a political product to be aggressively exported by Miroslavl. Therefore, it is with the greatest despair that we witness the governments of Telora, Sylvania, Carentania, and Jurchen argue against a crime that has already occurred, not by Danmark, but by Miroslavl.

His Grace, the DUKE of NONSUCH,
By the Grace of GOD, of the EMPIRE of GREAT ENGELLEX, CHARLOTTE, the QUEEN-EMPRESS,
through the FIRST LORD of ALDWYCH D'EVERCY

¤ Crown Forces to be stationed in southern Eiffelland
In a rare move, Trier has agreed that forces of the Kongelige Danske Marine, airforce and army are to be temporarily stationed in southern Eiffelland as tensions maintain a heat over the Carentanian unilateral decision to violate the international Touzen Maritime Accords and the sovereignty of The Jurzan. Krigsministeriet ~ the War Ministry and an arm of the Defence Ministry ~ announced that 57,300 landforces would be hosted by Eiffelland. In the contingent are 7,500 elite and specially trained Stormtroops. Alongside this are an contingent of the Royal Danish Airforce with a strength of 712 including 286 bomber aircraft and 145 fighter aircraft and a naval fleet numbering 87. The announcement is a rare event in Dano-Germanian relations which have been fraught by a long history of rivalry and suspicion though Dano-Eiffellandian relations have remained the least problematic for many years. War Minister Hr. Valentin Axel-Fogh spoke to an assembled press phalanx in Trier upon the signing of the agreeement. "The actions of Carentania go far and beyond a mere spat between the Kingdom and the Worker's Republic and have caused great alarm across international borders. Never have we seen such a seeing of eye-to-eye on such a scale as this given our mutual antipathy as Scanians and Germanians. For years we remained daggers drawn but it has taken this to draw us together against what is commonly surmised as a threat to stability. I can only exhale in surprise that it took this and I am still truly staggered". With the announcement, it means that Crown Forces have greater manoeuverability due to geography with Eiffelland projecting deep into the Long Sea. Hr. Axel-Fogh announced that manoeuvres would begin instantaneously and that naval forces already in the Long Sea would coalesce with those stationed from Eiffelland. In an extra measure, maintenance of observation would be increased over Carentanian forces on the islands of Solaren with orders to strike and invade if Carentania seeks to violate its precepts as a guarantor of stability in Solaren in the direction of the Kingdom's naval prowess. "If that becomes a feature, we shall have no hesitation in invading Carentanian-controlled Solaren and we should necessarily be involved in deep talks with Eiffelland and Potenza over Solaren", so said the War Minister."But we continue to have no interest in Solaren. Only Carentania can change that".

¤ Hrs. Westerveld and Tohki hold talks
Hr. Westerveld has visited Sharjah, it has been announced, to conduct talks with the Foreign Minister of The Jurzan. The news has only been released to Den Danske Tidende from the Udenrigsministeriet today though it is understood the talks took place three days ago. The Foreign Ministry issued an official statement outlining the nature and detail of the talks which, the statement declares, explored the dilemmas faced by The Jurzan in the advent of Carentanian infringement of legitimate commerce and jurisdiction. In the meeting it is understood Hr.Westerveld met with military chiefs of the Kongelige Danske Marine who provided him with on-the-ground reports of the KDM's efforts to preserve the maritime borders of the Islamic Republic. Reportedly, the KDM stated that there were frequent efforts to stall the infringement of Carentanian vessels into Jurzani waters but that, as far as they could report, incursions had taken place albeit inadvertently, from their assessment, due to what were assumed to be inexperienced naval conscripts. Hr. Westerveld has been reported to have said "This cannot and shall not happen again" in reference to the reported incursions though the Foreign Ministry has denied that Hr. Westerveld commented the words subscribing it to 'misplacement'. Nevertheless, it is known that Hr. Westerveld did visit the front-line on a patrol boat to see for himself the efforts of the KDM in ensuring Jurzani sovereignty and is reported to have seen "first hand" the brown fleet of the Carentanian navy arranged close to Jurzani maritime boundaries. The announcement did not reveal much more aside from that there were 'significant' talks the details of which have not been revealed though our journalists suggest that they have 'some magnitude' with a likelihood of being unveiled in due course.

¤ Rumblings of Thaumantic quadpartite conference as tensions build
With an impending build up in military tensions in the northern Thaumantic Ocean with blame laid at the foot of Fennia and Telora for their joint naval collaboration by communist Havenshire but a common view by most parties including Christiansborg that tensions have been caused due to the communist regime of Westhaven, sources indicate that there is an increasing chance of a conference between the parties possibly with a less involved nation hosting the event. Foreign Office hints indicate that the calls for a conference came from Westhaven but there has been a concerted unwillingness to openly vocalise whether the Kingdom will accede to dialogue with Havenshire at this stage but that there is an 'interest' in doing so. If a conference comes to pass, it will be the first time that a government representative has met their communist counterpart. Also unclear is whether Hr. Westerveld, a Liberal politician, will attend a round-table in person or whether the Assistant Udenrigminister Fr. Ingeborg E. Munk, one of a few female members of the government and with a reputation as a bruiser, will take his place. However, Hr. Westerveld did make it clear when pressed on the issue that Danish involvement did need to ensure that prerequisites were drawn into the the parameters of a conference. "Although a conference would be likely dominated by the issues surrounding the northern Thaumantic Ocean, we have our concerns if it is only restricted to that. We would need assurances and safeguards that Havenshire will work with us all in a responsible manner on global stability and exact measures of moderacy outside the Thaumantic. An agreement solely limited and sealed over issues effecting the vast expanse of that ocean would seem perverse unless other concessions can be extracted from the Westhaven regime with regard to its policies over Raigestan and towards the Himyar. This conference, if it happens, cannot be merely a naval-gazing and isolated Thaumantic affair. Plus, if it is restricted only to Thaumantic issues, it only ensures the safety of Havenshire itself which can only be off the table from the start. The parameters of a conference should be widened as an absolute base requirement. If Havenshire wants security for itself, which we are prepared to act in good faith to ensure, Havenshire has to be prepared to act in good faith on other issues, failing that, the status quo will reign which would lead to a weakening of the Havenite regime. Unless this wider scope will be entertained by Westhaven, we could not even enter a meeting let alone sign a concordat". Christiansborg has also been faced with the difficulty of a conference excluding Great Engellex. The halls of the Foreign Ministry have been reported to be 'deeply concerned' that its near neighbour does not seem to have been invited with indications that Danmark will refuse to join unless there is a place at the table for Dulwich. Hr. Westerveld: "It is absolute nonsense and supreme disregard that Engellexian figures are not invited to conference. As Great Engellex is the foremost power in the Thaumantic with power to enact or disregard any settlement, it is crucial that its involvement is enshrined from the outset. Anything less is sure to seriously undermine any settlement taken by all parties. For a golden standard of surety, Great Engellex should be involved. Less than that, forthrightly, we cannot support and we will not sanction nor join".

¤ The Statsminister meets with the Frescanian President
Statsminister and Chief of the Cabinet has made a rare foray into international relations by paying a visit to Fortaleza Real to discuss Himyar and Long Sea issues. Hr. Schneider-Krogsgaard landed in the Frescanian capital to be greeted by the traditional stately fanfare becoming a head of government and inspected a guard of honour though there was no red carpet, this reserved for members of the royal family. Hr. Schneider-Krogsgaard met with President Rodriguez at the Palacio Miroflores, after a joint motorcade procession through the capital city surrounded by pristine military security and outriders. Key on the agenda was what the accompanying described as 'broken fences' in Dano-Frescanian relations due to the Raigestan invasion and to inject a new chapter of friendship and collaboration. Hr. Schneider-Krogsgaard, in a black-tie dinner before 340 guests, made an address which sought to play down recent disputes and focused instead on the wider historic relations between the two states and their shared perspective on the Himyar. "I stand here before the noble and prestigious President of the Republic, a Knight of the Elephant, and I am indeed humbled. It is not too much of an underestimation to say that although we are very different entities, both Frescania and Danmark have deep bonds that go much beyond recent divergences and that this deep understanding remains come the onslaught. A kingdom and a republic, both with proud and individually deliberate stances, see beyond our differences and remain wedded to our roots of friendship which remains anchored in a certain bond that will not be shaken come what may. Our relationship with a monarch and president at the helm, is a wonder to behold and an ejemplo supremo for all nations engaged in either/or foreign policy". The Statsminister went on to outline the Fresco-Danish approach towards the Himyar. "We share a vision that is not too far removed from one another on most aspects of the ill-bequeathed northern portion of the Himyar. There is hardly a cigarette paper between us on what should be done and how best to restore peace and prosperity in the states that inhabit the northern portion of this continent. Describe it in the Gauloise phrase noblesse oblige as you will, but this is an understatement. Our common approach does not seek tutelage but rather the internationally welcomed concepts of freedom. Freedom for all the Himyar I say!". Not touched on in the dinner speech was a deepening of bilateral relations though it is understood that the Frescanian government prefers a more independent line with the sharing of information at this stage rather than coalescence into a formal anti-communist bloc. But this does not seem to be a significant issue for Christiansborg which is keen to maintain Frescania as a key and important regional and international ally.

¤ Hr. Westerveld is bestowed with doctorate
Udenrigsminister Westerveld was bequeathed with the title of Doctor of Philosophy in a packed event at the Royal University today following the completion of his course in History and Political Science. The Foreign Minister had completed his doctorate over six years due to foreign ministerial duties and a dispensation granted to him. The twenty-nine year old Minister of the Crown accepted the title and certification following what he described as a "difficult juggle". The final bestowal of his intense interest and academic studies entitles him to be referred to as Dr. Westerveld. Asked whether he would adopt the title in officicial duties, he was unasbashed. "If I did not earn it through my effort, I would accept that. But I did put immense work into my doctorate though it was immensely difficult. I can only thank the Royal University for their compassion under the circumstances. Balancing my duties to the Realm and my own academic endeavours is, take it from me, a hard act. But given the decision and with sheer relief, of course, I shall readily accept being referred to as 'Doctor Westerveld' but most of my friends and associates shall with no doubt still call me simply 'Henrik'.

The wonderful world of 'Old Mother Munk'
More often than not in the shadow of Foreign Minister Westerveld the spinster Fru Munk is making the headlines as she embarks on her first major foreign foray. But who quite is the much loved matriarch of the corridors of power?
Larsen Tivoli Christiansen

A little woman with wispy white hair, more often hidden under her favourite hat, and usually dressed in a heavy black woolen overcoat, flat-and-functional shiny black leather court shoes and with a handbag clutched in her work-worn hands, she looks more like the archetypal middle-class grandmother with her characteristic no-nonsense scurry on a daily trip to the shop to stock up on those ever-faithful staples of bacon, eggs or lard and who, if you could imagine it, would be well suited to donning an apron and spending most days cooking stews, baking bread and scrubbing the doorstep on her hands and knees. She doesn't look like a Deputy Foreign Minister but Fru. Munk is exactly that and to suggest otherwise to her ~ if you so had the bravery or impertinence ~ would likely lead to your swift humiliation as she casts a icy dagger-glare and cuts her victim to shreds in public. Anyone in the know will tell you that you do not cross Fru. Munk or she will have your guts as a garter. It is not for nothing that she has earned the sobriquet of 'Miss Battleaxe', a term she is known to scoff at, but she is also widely admired and revered as the 'mother hen' and 'Old Mother Munk' which she is privately known to find highly amusing.

Her name is legendary in government circles, with a reported iron grip over the Foreign Ministry which she is known to effectively govern like her very own household to even the minutest of details from foreign policy down to the cost of refreshments and lavatory paper that the government ministry spends every year. The mere mention of her name sends juniors, and even the more accomplished and senior figures, into panic-mode, more so if some they receive a letter written in her traditional copperplate long-hand (she refuses to use the typewriter) with the words "come and see me at my office - immediately". They know something is amiss.

But most say that her reputation disguises a loving woman who will fight hard for those that she trusts, respects and likes and that she is a 'rock' to which most will attach themselves. "She isn't really a imposing matriarch once you know her. She is actually quite a shy and demur old lady", said one foreign office official. "That's why is so respected".

But sixty-eight year old Fru. Ingeborg Esmerelda Munk is a comparative unknown to many people and it is only now that she has her names splashed across the front pages and has emerged from the shadow cast by her boss, Hr. Westerveld, who is almost forty years her junior, as she embarks on her first ever duty abroad representing the government in the Thaumantic Conference to be held in Tara, the High Kingdom of Ivernia.

Born of a Danish high-church protestant heritage in 1884, her maternal grandmother was a Frescanian, a lineage which is represented by her middle, and thoroughly un-Danish, name of Esmerelda. Growing up in a household of fourteen brothers and sisters, four of which died before the age of twelve from consumption, she was well used to comforts and wealth, her father an inheritor of a significant fortune from the proceeds of his father's shipping company. But although she never went without, her parents careful to provide for each of their children, even more so following her siblings unfortunate early deaths, she was instilled with a rigid system of discipline and academic routine with a series of tutors to drill into her the values of a good education. Starting from the age of four, Fru. Munk was already dipping her toes into Tiburan classical literature and could speak German with precocious fluency.
"I have a job to do and I shall damned well do it"
Not one to beat about the bush, she quickly got on in life and took on the immense task of running her grandfather's shipping company, the Holst Corporation, at the age of twenty-four where she made her mark turning around its fortunes following some years of decline and mismanagement at the hands of its non-family directors. It was here that she first encountered misogyny and resentment that the company was being run by, of all people, a woman. But she was always known for her tough hide and ploughed through the opposition. "I have a job to do and I shall damned well do it", a close friend of those days told us.

"This experience had an effect upon her views and this led her into active politics. She'd never shown an interest in it before but her treatment was like a red rag to a bull and she read up on all the issues facing women and that they did not have the rights to vote. She was quite angry at this and I remember her saying "We are fifty-percent of the population and we work our knuckles to the bone through hard work. We are also intelligent creatures and capable of critical thought. It is only right that we have the same purchase in the body politic as the men and for them to suggest otherwise is sacrilege. I shall change it"".

And she did. She founded the Society of Womenfolk in 1913 and was a major driving force behind the change to the constitution two years later giving all women the same rights as men to vote, at that time from the age of twenty-two. It was this frenetic activity that earned her the admiration of reformists - male all - in the Liberal Party and she was invited to stand in an election following the death of the incumbent Folkshuset member for the seat of Christiansborg St. Mikkel. She never looked back after that and it saw the start of a parliamentary career spanning twenty-five years until 1938.

It was also during this time that she had her first, and reportedly last, romance with a Liberal politician. It failed as, according to the gentleman involved, Theinn Buvstrup, "she was a single-minded woman who would not be controlled in any way for an instant. She dug in her heels. She was rather formidable".

Fru Ingeborg Esmerelda Munk is lovingly known as 'Old Mother Munk' and 'Miss Battleaxe'
She stood down that year to let another woman take her place and take on a new challenge of Foreign Attache to Frescania quickly becoming ambassador before being recalled to Christiansborg to take on the role of Director of Policy at the Foreign Ministry, in 1941 where she has remained ever since. But it was only the advent of the ministry of Jens Peder Hillerod, the government that was defeated by the current nationalist-dominated five party coalition, that saw her promoted to become Deputy Foreign Minister. Curious in all departments, the Foreign Ministry was the only one to remain untouched by the nationalists as both her and Henrik Westerveld were invited to stay on which both accepted even though both are firm Liberals.

It was during her time in the Foreign Ministry that she first came across the young Westerveld and quickly spotted his talent which she sought to nurture and protect. "She became my other mother", Hr. Westerveld told us. "I think I became the son, and the child, that she never had and she always treated me with utmost kindness and respect. If it were not for her, I'm not entirely sure I would be where I am today. I owe her an immense amount of gratitude".
"I became the son that she never had"
Their relationship remains a very close one with almost daily contact, necessary as the two most powerful figures in Danish foreign policy and they work, as is widely recognised, as an incredible duo. For her age, Fru Munk shows no sign of slowing down and is as energetic as ever. "I live and breathe great affairs of state and this is true calling in life" she once told a press journalist.

Some have speculated over the years why she never married and if it was due to being scared by her experiences of misogyny and if she missed having a family. "Things do not always go the way you may wish to design them in the salad days of youth but I am a happy woman. My friends are my family and I have my extended family which I adore, so that I do not have my own is of small consequence - plus I am too busy".

But her presiding of the Danish delegation to Tara has caused a flurry of speculation on what she believes politically and what she will bring to the great meeting. Although she is a Liberal and has been consistently an advocate of 'sensible liberalism' which belies her appearance of a stolid bulwark of conservatism, she has an uncompromising stance on issues of foreign policy and is known to thoroughly detest communism which has called a "pestilent mindset". In some instances she is more rigid than her protege Hr. Westerveld.

One thing is guaranteed, she will conduct the affairs of the Danes with consummate aplomb and, not suffering fools gladly, will no doubt make her mark. A friend: "If she hears nonsense and gibberish, she will call it out and tell them to their face. What you see if what you get with her and she will not be afraid to stand up to anyone whoever they are, apart from the King, of course".

¤ The Arendaaler Queen wins hearts at the State Opening
In the annual and 135 year old ceremony, Their Majesties HM King Frederik III and HM Queen Clara accompanied by Dowager Queen Benedikte, The Prince and Princess Imperial, and Crown Prince Lauritz with his two children Prince Torsten and Princess Dagmar who saw this year's parliamentary session for the very first time as parliament was opened in a splendorous mix of fanfares and flourishes. Escorted by the cantering 325 horse-backed Kongensvagt (Ward Guardians) and 4,400 armed ceremonial soldiers replete with black bear-skin hats lining the route, the centre of the capital city was shut down for the the procession as the main members of the royal family journeyed through Christiansborg's thoroughfares in drey-drawn Statslige Trænere (state coaches) on the three-and a-half mile state procession to the Folkhuset to open the new plenary session of parliament for 1952-53 with streets lined by an approximated 850,000 people. Above politics and revered as the symbols of Danish identity, the historical and present, the royal family entered the Hall of St. Ansgaard to a cacophony of state trumpetters and bass and kettle drums blasting out the Royal Anthem, whilst the parliamentarians assembled in morning dress and silken top hats with the Statsminister in the vermilion sash and donned badge of the Order of the Elephant. However, some hardline socialists demurred for the simple woollen cloth cap in a signal of their leanings which drew scorn from more elevated representatives.

Unveiling the agenda of the administration in his name, His Majesty expounded his government's focus for the coming year in the Graceful Speech. Important on this years' government agenda was building on world peace from alliance building and friendship treaties, an extension of the very successful military restructuring ~ dubbed Phase III ~ building on the previous stages which will see a major focus on airforce expansion especially in the arena of hi-technology long and medium-range bomber aircraft and fighter planes, long-range rockets and the building of three new aircraft carriers and an extension of army forces to reach an expected full-time 545,000 active forces over the next 8 years. Increased focus is to be displayed in the east with a buttressing of existing forces there to reach an anticipated 130,130 troops along the Rhine and along the border with the Wieserreich. In a major departure from recent events, the government indicated that it is to engage in exploratory talks with the Wieserreich, though details remained scant, as part of a major initiative of 'hinterland understanding' together with the other neighbouring Germanian states as well as a new doctrine on the Occident.

Included in the Speech, the government is to expand coal production and export a full menu of military merchandise via the multi-million shilling private conglomerate of Hammersten-Busch Fabrik, a significant government boost to domestic military concerns. Notable on the non-military sphere was a dedication to expand the export of industrial parts and finished products from automobiles and 'rail furniture' including the Pursuance Class of train, the Excelsior having beaten all records in a west-east cross-country journey from Fredrikshavn on the Kattegat to Aaben-unden-Marken on the Rhine making the journey in 3 hours and 42 minutes, a 422 mile journey.

On the domestic front, the government is to invest in alleviating poverty in industrial heartlands in a programme including raising wage levels, the building of more Labour Exchanges and funnelling more money into health and the social safety net.

In the breaking of tradition, Her Majesty, the 'Arendaaler Queen', spoke before the assembled parliament expounding on her role as Queen Consort. Quite the love of the moment, the Queen had appeared to have mastered the rudiments of Danish though with a Norse twang which won over some sceptics, speaking of her expected future role within the Danish nation and monarchy. "I shall endeavour to bring my utmost to my position and to serve the Danish people. I am a Queen Consort of Danmark with roots in my motherland of Arendaal. I sincerely hope that my being Queen unites our disparate Scanian commonwealth. I proud to be Queen of this country, something that has taken to my heart. One is indeed steeled by blessed hope that, with my husband by my side and through his trust, faith and guidance, not only can Danmark and Arendaal unite in an immense friendship along with all the Scanian peoples, but that this serves as a symbol to all those that seek friendship wheresoever they may be".

The popularity of the King and Queen is seen as a harbinger of the likely success of their major pre-coronation Grand Tour of the Nations including state visits to Agderike, Engellex, Eiffelland, the See, Frescania, Cantignia, the Vestmark, Mergogne and, of course, Arendaal. Both are seen to have hardly put a foot wrong in their fulfillment of duty with the King taking many of his lessons from his late father. However, the Palace is keen to publicise that King Frederik is very much his own man and is likely to bring in a new era of modernity, a new Frederician era.

¤ Crown Forces to withdraw from Eiffelland but Christiansborg to remain staunch
Upon the request of Trier, Christiansborg has ordered the withdrawal of Sovereign Forces back to Danmark as Eiffelland signalled that it deemed the Carentanian threat to have passed. Hr. Axel-Fogh, the Minister of War, ordered preparations to be put in place for the withdrawal of forces from Eiffellandian soil and water with some to be deployed to a beefed up presence in the Long Sea, with air contingents more dependent upon carriers already stationed in the Long Sea.

The news from Trier was sudden though wholly commensurate within the temporary nature of stationment, according to the War Ministry. It is expected that the withdrawal will take several weeks to accomplish due to practicalities.

Hr. Westerveld, Danmark's Foreign Minister, paid tribute to the Eiffellandians for their "endeavourous dedication" to international stability in allowing Danish and Fennian forces to station in Eiffelland as an indication of intent of Trier's commitments to peace. "Eiffelland followed through with action and it can be counted upon as a reliable friend and cohort in the future", he went on to claim. However, the clear indications from the Danes are that they will continue to maintain a watchful eye over Carentania and the 'rogue nations' such as Sylvania under President Rygaard. "My country will not shirk its responsiblities. We cannot expect others to speak and do, we must also do. For us only to speak and back up our words would be supremely poor statesmanship. It can be counted upon that we shall act in due regard as guardians to our wards and we shall make sure they prosper. We, a member of the Family of Nations, shall not sit idly by whilst others seek to roll back our fortune - not on my watch. It is equally our own burden to carry. As such, we urge all like-minded nations to join with us in this long journey".

¤ 'We must box clever in the Occident' ~ Hr. Westerveld
Long off the radar from the foreign ministry and not an area of particular interest for most of history, the foreign ministry announced a new focus on the Far West, the continent of the Occident. For many, Danmark has been on the back-foot over the continent and has tended to ignore it, but recent events have given a burst of purpose and focus in the Udenrigsministeriet driven in part by what some have castigated as the 'loose cannon' regime of President Rygaard of Sylvania but also in an indication of economic and geopolitical leverage as concerns mount at the direction of some governments in the region.

After months of deliberation, the foreign minister made the announcement yesterday that the Occident would be a key new plank in Danish geopolitical interest. "Whilst there remain the usual hotspots dotted around the globe which are of great concern, the Occident is also one area of interest that we actively pursue". He went on: "The ever constant watchword of 'stability' remains a focus for us and we shall be exploring avenues to effect that. It is clear that we must do more to work towards this fundamental and I shall be examining various areas where we can bring this about. It would be a tragedy to see that immense continent fall prey to scurrilous and malignant regimes. From henceforth, Occidentia's concern becomes a Danish concern".

Hr Westerveld announced that he would be setting up a Committee Extraordinary devoted to Occidentian affairs with a party to be despatched to the ground in the continent. The Great Danish Embassy in Dulwich which serves both Great Engellex and limited diplomatic representation to Sylvania, following mutual expulsions of ambassadors between the two countries, will be part of this committee, it is understood by
Den Danske Tidende at the time of this publication.

Aside from Sylvania, concern mounts at the internal political developments within some of the smaller states there with some sources citing the 'volatility' of political conflict there and fears of the rise of post-delegationist ideology in the West. "The cancer of Eastern thought would be deserving of being lanced and cut-throated before birth", so said the foreign minister. "Wherever that ideology reigns, from past experience, it only leads to rancour and bloodshed. It would be a inherently sad occurrence if that strain of thought took root there. We must do all we can to prevent it or at the least seek an understanding of its strains as, afterall, post-delegationism comes in many forms - some more orthodox, some more localistic."

But Sylvania remains the prime focus of Danish force. Whilst the move, dubbed the 'Occidentia Doctrine' encompasses everything from trade to politics, politics remains the focus. "We can only count upon Vestmark as the baby of the Engellexian Empire as a vouchsafer. In that we should work with them, alongside the Mother Country, Great Engellex. Only our working together can effect durable peace and status quo.", so said Hr Westerveld.

However, he was clear that this long-term operation would be multi-faceted and involve and a full spectrum from development packages to poor states, fostering of stable regimes, protection and what he termed 'magnanimous guidance', criticised by opponents as imperialist and paternalist interference.

Asked whether he supported forced change of government in Charleroi, the King's Minister was direct. "That nation's government has done all it can to insult the civilised world. It does not deserve any epithet of being civilised, as a government. Indeed, it is reprehensible. It has done all it can to rub the noses of the Family of Nations into its bile. It cannot go much further, in reality. It is full of hubris, but hubris is easily brought down to quiescence. I still have a slight admiration for President Rygaard ~ maybe that is his Danish ancestrary ~ but such obvious and direct refusal to even work with the civilised world is somewhat perturbing. Whether he admits it or not, this is a failure, as he has little else to count on. Come what may, it shall be the poor people of Sylvania, such a rightly proud people, that shall be led asunder from the path of righteousness. Such is the example of the vainglorious President Rygaard, surely the least apt and cack-handed head of state to ever lead the Sylvanian folk".

¤ Deliberative and arduous rapprochement with Augsburg
Following some years of tension and disputation, signals are that Christiansborg is endeavouring to seek an 'understanding' with its second-most powerful bordering neighbour to the north following an invite byAugsburgto attend talks.

Many within the corridors of power are somewhat reluctant to stomach engagement with
Augsburg at all, though the pragmatists believe that some sort of all-encompassing understanding should be reached with its northern neighbour even if this is a feat difficult to comprehend for some. Long regarded as the closet of Germanian imperialist intent, the Wieserreich has been for long a regarded with a deep suspicion but one that that has been increasingly outmanouvred due to the Reich's land-locked status whilst the Realm ploughs furrows abroad. Indeed, Near-Germania is increasingly an aside and frequently ignored as insignificant when compared to the greater concerns on the international scale.

However, Hr Westerveld, the household name on the international stage, has been seen as an ultimate strategist and, given his politically Liberal roots, a convenient bridge-builder between Christiansborg and
Augsburg, difficult as it may be for arch-nationalists. Following the invite from Augsburg, Hr Westerveld indicated his desire for a binding agreement in a multifarious manner to cement Dano-Wieser understanding, but he fell short of any sort of friendship or anything beyond that.

"We shall find some sort of amenablilty, no doubt. This is good for all of us. Our prime focus on the domestic front has always been the stability of the hinterland. Indeed, one may call it the 'Hinterland Policy' if one is so inclined", the foreign minister laughed in mirth before an assembled press phalanx. "But there remain significant existential issues which can never be resolved over-night... these take a great deal of time and head-banging".

First and foremost on Christiansborg's agenda is 'near-by trade' and an agreement over trans-Rhine trade routes. Danmark, a former
Germanian League member state, is a geographical obstacle to the pan-League trade and military rationale, with a necessity for the League to reach an agreement with Christiansborg in order to exact its terms towards Eiffelland and vice versa, the latter nation geographically divorced from the heartland of the Germanian League. "An all-encompassing League coherency cannot exist unless there is negotiation with this country", the foreign minister stated. "It does not require much thought to realise this. A falling through the grid of some sort of mutually agreeable consensus spells trouble and limitation for the League", claimed the foreign minister.

Consensus is that at this stage there remain grounds for an agreement to be struck though in a limited manner. Nevertheless, Hr Westerveld made a point that the finer points would be debated in a conference in, for some rather pleasing, the epicentre of monarchy: Roskilde. To be specific the immense palace-fortress of J
ørgensslot, the fourteenth century grand palatial military architectural complex.

"That is where any accord or even any meaningful agreement shall be struck", so said the Udenrigsminister. "A long-lasting fortune shall beckon only in Roskilde. It cannot be realistically anywhere else"

I write this letter with a heavy heart but with a great and unshakeable resolve. Though I have made every attempt to calm down the quick to anger and easy to insult ministers and citizens of Danmark, though I have made every attempt to welcome a free and peaceful negotiation and or airing of grievances; it seems that the yellow journalists and career focused ministers of Danmark are much more interested in sensationalizing a complete and total non-issue. I find it increasingly humorous that while the industrious people of Sylvania awake everyday to their daily routines, their minds devoid of any serious thoughts of the Danes; that the Danish peasantry, the King and his ministers have wasted countless hours of thought and brainpower developing a way to undermine a nation that has at the most declined to bend at the knee to Danmark's power and at the least resorted to a little bit of sensationalist name calling. While I can laugh at the issue for the most part I am indeed quite concerned that a nation who believes itself to be at a world power level is now pacing the halls of her government and legislative offices drawing up plans to undermine Sylvania's influence within Occidentia, a continent that your own major publications have dubbed "historically unimportant."

If Sylvania must be the haunting specter to take the troubles at home off the minds of the Danish Peasantry, then so be it, such things are at your minister's discretion. However, let me make myself abundantly clear, any attempt to undermine the interests of Sylvania within in it's economic zone, it's national waters, it's sovereign lands and any other important national asset will be a mistake of an unimaginable magnitude. To steal a phrase from the Cantigians, that is an Iron Promise I intend to keep. For now I will hope that the ministers of Danmark will gain some semblance of intelligence and leave Dano-Sylvanian relations where they are at right now rather than escalate them to a level we both will regret or even better yet, let us sit at the table together and speak to each other. Speak on anything, anything that might lead us away from the potentially dangerous ramifications focusing Danish Force on Sylvania will bring. Though we are a peaceful people, sometimes hot headed and sometimes frank in our ways of speech (the side effect of a free and compassionate upbringing) we will not tolerate force used against us and we shall respond in kind to any violent machinations your nation may be secretly planning.

We hope that whatever does come of this, that one day this "family of nations" will learn, like all children do, that sometimes "No" will have to suffice when they make demands. For the time being we will accept our status as an outcast from your family as we cannot afford the expense put upon our moral character an association with imperialists would create. Finally, I have shown that we are more than willing to speak in a civilized manner on neutral ground, that we are willing to hear the complaints of the Danish crown, nation and people in a friendly, face to face environment and that we may be willing to bend slightly to create a warming of relations. The onus is now on Danmark to accept this invitation rather than ignore it once again.

To His Excellence the President of the United Republic of Sylvania, Mr. Sander Rygaard

Augsburg, 20.11.52

You
r Excellence,

I see with regret the great nation of Sylvania losing its resolve before the problems that plague it. Recent memory has proven that certain individuals, and certain powers indeed (and I do say powers for the world is plagued by more than one of them) have a tendency to embrace and worship the principles of hubris, disrespect, and interference in other's interior affairs. Having been shown what might be the very truest face of some such individuals, I can only recommend that the Sylvanian government and nation show patience and resolve towards the situation.

I trust that you, unlike those certain others, are neither of unsuitable mind nor as rash and fanatical. History favours the true and the honourable, and the honourable Sylvanian nation can be certain of its achievements and benefits. Indeed, it would perhaps be the best if your nation carried on and overlooked certain sources of nuisance and trouble, giving them the most deserving treatment they can get while furthering its own interests and agenda. Know, however, that some will not like getting the attention they so much deserve, as we ourselves have learned the past year.

Perhaps in a lighter note, I would like to encourage you to consider Germania more lightly and positively. The United Republic has massive prospects in Occidentia and the World, and indeed, us in Augsburg look forward to conducting closer and more intimate relations with the policies of equal reciprocation and mutual benefit at heart. I would, as such, like to invite the head of your foreign minister to meet me in person so that we may discuss matters of mutual interest to our two governments and states.

To conclude with a lighter note, I would like to present you with a proverb from my native Babelfisch in Thuringia; "whatever a fox cannot reach, it will proclaim to be unattainable". I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Heinrich Maximilian Graf von und zu Babelfisch

A New Deal heralds fresh Himyarsk dawn
Ally-treaties with Partherriget and The JurzanDanish grace to remain in-situStatsminister has "saved his bacon"

The arrangements are likely to take the heat off the Statsminister, Hr. Schneider-Krogsgaard, as he seeks to bolster his credentials and thwart a challenge to his leadership from more hard-line elements.

This criticism also came hot off the heels of another development this week as the government seeks to focus more on what it has deemed to be 'progressive imperialism', dubbed by some as 'benign imperialism', in international affairs with a major speech this week where the Danish head of government claimed that "this form of imperialism is a thoroughly good thing. It is a concession to penury which blights the world along with it's associated ills ... we have to help those in need of help when they cannot help themselves. This is an indication of the Benign Realm which is something I support."

Rigskabinet restores Augsburg representation ahead of bilateral summit
Svend Sørensen-Wulff
Christiansborg

Ahead of the widely-discussed summit with
the Wiessereich and which gathers apace, the cabinet has announced that it shall restore normality in full diplomatic representation by installing a High Sovereign Envoy in the Reich's capital, the second highest ambassadorial rank below High Sovereign Excellency as an indication of Christiansborg's approach. The news met with a stream of protests from arch-nationalists with calls for Hr Westerveld to resign alongside the burning of effigies of the Imperial minister, Count Babelfisch.

The Foreign Ministry released details of the agenda for the talks which include a wide-ranging tablet for cementation from Rhine trade, reduction of standing troops between the Dane's and Wieser's mutual international border, with emphasis on the Rhine Gap, and scope for cooperation on international affairs.

Westerveld.

On related news, The Queen Dowager, HM Queen Benedikte, the wife of the late king, has apparently indicated an interest in visiting her Wieser relatives according to her press office but no indication of whether this will occur has been confirmed at the time of publication.

Prior to the spectacle of coronation, Their Majesties left to undergo their Stately Tour of the Nations today with the first port-of-call being a State Visit to Dulwich.

Departing on the royal train, the King and Queen Consort will take in a series of capitals in their itinery including also Celtish Ivernia, Agderrige,
Ærendaal, The See (whereupon the Pope is expected to be bestowed with chivalric orders), Frescania, the Friendly Confines and Germanian Eiffelland, on the return leg.

We commend the Danish Government for normalising the diplomatic ties with Wieserreich again. Like we said earlier, it is of everybody's interest that the dispute between Wieserreich and Danmark is resolved. Normalising diplomatic ties is an important step in that process.
