King to visit Bombaim

Syracuse

Today, royal officials announced that King Alexander would be visiting Bombain. They also announced that the King would meet briefly with both Chief Minister Sri Subbarayan and Governor, Sir Girija Shankar Bajpai but would focus on visiting cultural, historical, and educational facilities.

Many expect the King to show support for Anglysh rule following statements by Chancellor Valdez. "The fact is that Bombain is sovereign territory of Anglyn with established and legitimate borders" said the Chancellor. Valdez said the Royal Government would support independence only if a referendum showed the majority supported home rule. "If that is the case, His Majesty would support a slow transition to take place over a number of months or even a year" said Valdez.

Bombaim

With minimal notice, King Alexander landed in Bombaim this morning, quickly starting his abbreviated tour.

The King started the tour by joining a brunch at Bombaim University hosted by the Political Studies department. The King joined in an open discussion with students on Bombaim's future, and general international politics. Following the casual discussion, the King attended a play at the University theater.

King Alexander is expected to meet briefly with the Chief Minister and Governor during his short visit.

King in Bombaim, meets local leaders, speaks out

Bombaim

Today, King Alexander met with Governor Bajpai, Chief Minister Sri Subbarayan and the Mayor of Bombaim, Behram Chandavarkar. The King described the meeting as being "constructive and informative". Yesterday, the King met with political studies students from a local university, but focused primarily on general international politics.

Today's meeting however was primarily focused on the current issues. The King had strong words for media in attendance, saying that he would "support Bombaim's independence from Anglyn only if it happened from within and with the support of the general population". The King also accused Cantigny of "purposeful agitation that could lead to an end of peace rather than the peace they claim to seek". The King also urged for an immediate summit of leaders, offering Syracuse or Ajaccio as a venue.

Tomorrow, the King is to visit a factory, hospital, and even a brewery.

The Commonwealth of Cantigny endorses the notion of true peace, and the timely mechanization of Bombaim & Tangaloan independence from Anglyn. We as a nation are capable of seeing reason, practiced in the use of tact, yet completely committed to securing national democracy for the Patriots of Oceania. If such a summit could be arranged, where a common vision of democratic empowerment is assured, then Cantigny would naturally agree to march no further towards forceful liberation of the Proud Sons & Daughters of Tangaloa and Bombaim.

King concludes Bombaim visit, calls for meeting

Bombaim

King Alexander concluded his visit to Bombaim today, visiting several locations. The King visited a small pottery factory, where he was invited to design his own vase. After meeting with employees, the King invited the pottery workers to trade vases they made with vases that currently reside in the Royal Residence.

Following his visit to the factory, King Alexander and Chief Inspector d'Deridex of the Royal Constabulary met with local police officers and discussed crime issues. The King then invited the officers for a tour of the Shetland Brewery which produces the King's favorite Bombaim Pale Ale.

The King fielded questions over a pint, most prominently over the question of Bombain's future. "Whatever the future of this city is, I know it is bright. It is a world class city and should be treated as such. That is why I again must urge that the parties come to the table. While it does not matter where, I will offer my own nation as a venue. This is an important issue that should be solved face to face rather than in headlines" said the King.

The King concluded his visit by touring a new medical facility and visiting with staff.

Nokanawa echoes the sentiments expressed by the Nicosian King and applauds him for offering a concrete way out of the current crisis in Touyou. A discourse involving all affected parties will be the fastest way to restored normality in the region, and the Constitutional State is willing to play its part in this diplomatic process.

His Majesty's Government would also like to give its endorsement for a sound solution to the current predicament. A peaceful mediation of differences and grievances between involved parties is highly preferable to all alternatives.

Leaked document: Seized Solaris assets funding Nicosian deployment of troops

Syracuse

In a recently leaked Defense Ministry file that surfaced earlier this weekend, tables and reports indicate that money seized by Nicosia is being used to fund the recent mobilization of military forces and the deployment of troops to Lorraine.

The file indicates that a vast ammount of money that was seized by international parties is still being held in 'limbo'. However, a portion of it is being used to pay and fund the mobilization of Nicosian forces. "If we have to respond to threats of this nature, why should we pay for it if we don't have to? Terrorism, kidnapping, and extortion. We have shown Solaren that it is not something we will accept. Now that they have shrunk from responsibility, stopped threats, and learned that even tiny Nicosia will stand up to them, they have learned their lesson" said Chancellor Valdez on the recently leaked document.

Chancellor Valdez stated that he expected the majority of the deployed 37,000 troops to return within the month or so. When asked if the international community would soon release the seized Solaris assets, Chancellor Valdez said that "an acceptable solution to that issue is to be implemented shortly".

Solaris gunboats cut trawler nets

Ajaccio

Chancellor Valdez's office released a statement that described events that took place on June 9th and in the early morning hours of June 10th. According to the statement and coast guard documents, Nicosian fishing trawlers that were clearly in international waters were approached by as many as 2 Solaris gunboats at a time. The Solaris warships proceeded to use net cutters on at least 11 fishing nets, 9 of which were successfully cut.

Chancellor Valdez held a press conference at 4pm, Nicosian time. Valdez accused the Solaris government of 'intentionally inflaming the situation' with what he called 'clear economic terrorism'.

Nicosia announces 'Long Sea Security Zone' following 12th maritime incident

Syracuse

Following a 12th net cutting incident, Chancellor Valdez announced that the Kingdom will now be observing a security zone. The zone, forming an oval demarcation around Nicosia, will not affect international trade.

The zone will not ban ships of any nation or confront them with direct military force. However, the zone will see increased coast guard and naval activity 'in order to protect Nicosian and international maritime trade and travel'. Included in the announcement is a disclaimer that warns that any Solaris flagged vessel that enters the security zone may be subject to surveillance by Nicosian ships or aircraft. The Chancellor warned that the zone is to protect against escalation of tensions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Issued upon the directives of President Renaudière:

The Kingdom of Nicosia sits in a highly tense and volatile section of the Long Sea, as at times strategic locations are, and the highly erratic and virulent nature of the Solaris theocracy, we would advise a neutral party to monitor this zone to ensure matters remain calm.

The Workers' Republic informs its Nicosian neighbours that three fregates of the Revolutionary Navy have been dispatched to proximity of your nation for surveillance purposes. Carentania wishes to stress both its peaceful intentions and the will to not allow for any infringement upon the freedom of the Long Sea.
That is all. We wish you a pleasant day.

We wish to inform our Carentanian neighbors that their intention to watch the situation closely is noted. Book Review: Monarch: Memoirs of a King in a democratic world
Memoirs of King Nicholas VII to hit shelves Friday. Book reveals King's desires for democracy, peace, and prosperity

In his 51 years on the throne, King Nicholas VII saw the world constantly changing while he struggled to lead his country. In fact, many times in his memoirs, King Nicholas referred to the Nicosian monarchy as a 'Dinosaur' among nations. Throughout the 852 page book, Nicholas VII provides an in depth look at the workings of a national government and what he called 'small nation politics'. The book includes accounts from meetings with various world leaders and religious figures.

In the final chapters, King Nicholas VII makes the argument for skirting democracy and sticking with what he calls a 'sympathetic and burdensome monarchy'. While widespread support for the House of Kosara appears to continue to this day, King Nicholas wrote that the "bright future of Nicosia can be even brighter when the people guide the way".

Monarch: Memoirs of a King in a democratic world seems to tone down rhetoric and focus on a description of the difficulties of national government from a monarch's viewpoint. Proceeds from sales will go to the International Literacy Foundation.

Solaren Declares War

Following the recent tensions and Solaris state backed terrorist actions, Solaren has declared war on the Kingdom of Nicosia and her EDF allies. Today, the King addressed the Kingdom on live television. We have provided a transcript (below). The King's brief address promised a mission to preserve civilian life and scolded the international community for failing to heed Nicosia's cries of dismay at the terror attacks, piracy, kidnappings, and murder.

Nicosians are urged to be aware of potential air attacks and to utilize the National Defence Program. As of now, all tourists will be evacuated either home or to neutral countries. The government has stated that it is currently working with other nations to safely and efficiently evacuate the foreign nationals.

Good Evening,

As most of you are aware, our recent attempts to avoid war have proved futile. For the first time in nearly a century, this Kingdom is at war. Our numerous attempts at finding peace have failed. Our pleas to the international community have gone unheeded. A final attempt to find peace by this government failed and the diplomatic team has disappeared and is suspected, murdered.

This war is not a war of alliances or a war fought over land. This war is being waged based on morals. The very principle of a nation's right to defend itself is at stake. Targeted through numerous terrorist actions including bombings, piracy, and kidnapping; Nicosia now exercises the right to defend herself by calling on her allies. There are those who would like their people to believe otherwise. Nicosia has prided itself on peace. Now, hurled into the mournful mutter of the battlefield, Nicosia will stand for the right and principle of a nation defending itself against the ugly tide of war itself. This war is not being fought against the Solaris Church or people, but of the regime in Torrence who have so brazenly used terror as a weapon. We will endeavor to protect the lives of civilians no matter if they are Solaris or Nicosian.

We ask G-d to guide us through these nightmarish days and to let us be as David with a mighty sling.

Statement From The Papal Office of The Sacred Kingdom of Solaren

Nicosia and other puppets of the false Pope in Tibur have the blood of innocents on their hands. Their constant infernal scheming, their devilish intentions to unseat the One True Pope and God's Sole Representative on Earth, compelled loyal soldiers of God to act. With divine guidance, shall their bullets and shells ravage the heathen armies of the European Defence Federation and protect His Incredible Holiness and the sacred soil of Solaren from violation.

Approved by His Incredible Holiness Pope Urban IV
