NEWS IN BRIEF
- KALEVALA, KINGDOM OF KALEVALA - At the Talvilinna Army Prison, gunshots fired this morning heralded the deaths of three men and one woman whom the Higher Military Tribunal yesterday found guilty of the ignoble charges of engaging in espionage in favor of the Havenite communist junta. The four were found guilty of the specific charges of high treason and espionage, as well as a number of smaller charges including sedition and the possession of unlicensed firearms. A spokesperson of the Union Military Police said that the executions had occurred by way of a single shot to the back of the head, and that last meal, option to consult a priest and to see next of kin had been offered to the executed. The Information Office is keeping details of the case secret for reasons of national security, though it has revealed that the four planned to steal major political and military secrets from Fennian research facilities and to carry out acts of potentially violent sabotage in those confines.
"To the citizens of the Union, the case of this so-called Yrjönlinna Four serves as a reminder of the utmost and continuing need for vigilance", said Information Minister Kaarlo Nurmi when addressing the case today. "We must not let our guard down, nor must we forget that even at this moment, Bolshevist saboteurs and bandits are in our midst plotting to bring down the Union and the Fennian nation as a whole", Nurmi proclaimed. He called for citizens of Fennia to be vigilant against suspected sabotage and to render their support to the forces of law engaged in the stalwart struggle against forces of sedition and sabotage.
