Gouw Marken and the Gothic Sea

Fishermen in the Gothic Sea have reported an increase of vessels. “The Gouw Marken fleet, old and mostly tiny ships, has however nothing to fear”, says the head of Markstad harbor. But as Gouw Marken has no diplomatic ties with most countries, it is not sure which protection the national flag will give if tensions raise.

Therefore the Prince-bishop will send the ambassador in Trier a message the King and Government of Eiffeland to keep Markstad informed and to insist to the leave Gouw Marken fishing boats unharmed in international waters. The consul in Kadikistan will be asked to bring the same message to the Kadiki government.

The Prince-bishop has clearly the intentions to strengthen the diplomatic structure of the country. After appointing delegations to Kadikistan and Eiffelland, he has the desire to open a diplomatic misson to Cymru Annibynnol. This is the third nation helping the Gouw Marken population in need. The county is bordering the Gothic Sea, therefore it can be important for the economy and the food supplies to have a good relationship. Further steps will be taken in this matter.

The Gothic sea can be reached directly through the Zandplaat Channel. Markstad harbor is well located between the Gothic Sea and the ocean. Cymru Annibynnol

"We assure the government and the fishermen of Gouw Marken that their fishing vessels will be left unharmed by the Kadikistani Revolutionary Northwestern Fleet currently engaged in war games in the Gothic Sea. We have all the respect for the noble fishermen who will undoubtedly contribute greatly to ending the famine that has plagued the brave people of Gouw Marken. We also reaffirm our own dedication to help end the hunger in Gouw Marken by continuing our humanitarian aid mission.

Furthermore after careful deliberation we have decided to dispatch Maj. Ratko Vinsko to serve as the official ambassador from the Democratic Republic of Kadikistan to the nation of Gouw Marken. Maj. Vinsko will serve as a fine addition to our diplomatic corps and will without doubt stenghten the relations between our two great people's."

Woman accused of practicing medicine

In Ginderbuiten a woman is taken into prison after she gave advice in health care to patients of her father, who is a doctor. The daughter, 32, tried to make sure the people of the village were given medication when her father became ill after eating bread prepared from contaminated grain. The bakery had used this grain, thus causing several cases of what is called “beetle rash”. The patient gets a fever and many of them are delirious, thinking insects are crawling under their skin. The start to rip open their skin tissue.

The woman gave her father and some other patient medicines out of her father’s practice room. But in Gouw Marken it is strictly forbidden for woman to practice medicine.

Her case will go to local court. Ginderbuiten, a part of Groenhoven County, is ruled by the earl of Groenhoven de Willersem, a very traditional and conservative person. The judges, appointed by this earl, have similar visions. With this case, it seems an example is to be made for women all over the country.

Other news

-> Kadikistan and Eiffelland ask to respect the integrity of Gouw Marken fishing vessels in Gothic Sea.
-> Humaitarian aid helps people through last winter months, Kadikistan continues its program.
-> Birth rate gone down during last months, mortality high in the whole country, especially in the Northwest. It is yet unknown how some isolated areas were affected by the famine.
-> Kadikistani Maj. Vinsko appoined ambassador to Gouw Marken.

Ayasofya looks at the case of the woman being tried in Ginderbuiten, Gouw Marken, with great concern. We believe that all people with the technical knowledge to act towards the betterment of their fellow men have a responsibility to do so. Gouw Marken should reform their laws to ensure that those most qualified, those possessing the appropriate knowledge and experience, are those who occupy their medical positions regardless of gender.

It is our assertion at this women risked a great deal in order to ensure the safety of many lives, and we petition that this fact be included in the consideration of punishment. If severe punishment is unavoidable, we are willing to provide a new home for her inside of our great nation. In this way, Gouw Marken can continue to enforce its self-imposed ignorance without harming a woman who only wanted to make her world a better place.

We wish to thank you for your interest shown in this case. We can assureyou the trial will be done according to the county laws.
The central Gouw Marken government has no influence in this matter, as "lager recht" of "costumen" (common law) is a local matter.
However, your letter will be added to the files.

Eiffelland defends integrity of our fishermen in the Gothic Sea

A spokesman of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs talked about the food crisis, the efforts done by three nations to help Gouw Marken and the importance of the fisherman fleet. Those vessels shouldn’t be “hampered in their activities”. A delegation of fishermen, their wives and children, wanted to express their gratitude and brought a letter of respect and flowers to the embassy of Eiffelland. The group carried photographs of Quintus II and King Albrecht III.

Other news
-> Diplomatic meeting with the Cyrmu Government soon?
-> Gouw Marken looking south for strengthening diplomatic ties.
-> Was something wrong with a cargo potatoes in coming from Kadikistan? The cargo load was much bigger on paper then what was brought on shore in Gouw Marken.

Reformation of Post Service

The National Assemble has voted in favor for a reform in the Post Service. The Post will be centralized in one structure. Up to now, every county had his own service and the post was not daily delivered.

In many rural counties, the post service was a private matter. Fees were different for several parts of the country. Mostly it was common to pay for deliverance by a private service to a nearby city. From there on the receiver had to pay his share for deliverance to his doorstep. In some areas taxes were put on receiving mail. It was not always clear how much sending a letter would cost and sometimes the system was misused and people were charged far too much. All those structures will disappear.

The central Gouw Marken Post Service (Markense Prinsbischoppelijke Posterijen –MPP) will use a single fee system for the whole country, using stamps like it is common in most of the world. To compensate the loss in taxes for some districts, a special stamp will be added to letters to those areas.

A second special stamp will be added for deliverance in isolated rural parts of the country. This added fee is still to be paid by the receiver but will be used to finance the local post service, thus not to be financed any more by the local authorities.

The private companies and their staff, who will get out of work, can get lifetime jobs in the MPP with a guaranteed monthly income.

Looking for economic growth

Gouw Marken leaders are looking to the future. With new year and growing season, the fields will soon again feed the farmers and their families. The country has to rebuild its economic system. Many craftsmen in the cities are unemployed. Aristocracy and abbeys have lost lots of money on this food crisis. In some areas death rates were very high, leaving the land without workers. The total impact stil isn’t clear. But one thing is clear: something has to change.

As Eiffelland, Justiza and Veniasufia are coming economically closer, an example for Gouw Marken is set. What will we do? One thing is clear: just sit there at the border of the Gothic Sea and watch isn’t enough.

I read this comment in the "Markense Mededelingen" with much interest. I think that one of the factors most severly hampering Gouw Marken's economy at this moment are the restrictive laws on motorised traffic. It is a fact that most of today's big economies could only become big thanks the train and motorised traffic. At least Eiffelland grew to the economy it is at present among others thanks to the train and motorised traffic. I think it will help Gouw Marken a lot when the restrictive laws on motorised traffic (among others a law stipulating that a man with a red flag should walk in front of a car) are lifted.

“How far must a population be on the wrong path, how low can the moral standard in a country be? Because it is sure that if not attacked by his own people, the whole of Bourgogne is guilty of this mistake. A country, a population should never create any opportunity for the by God himself created order to be overruled by an individual or a group of people commanded by the devil himself.

It is clear that Bourgogne is a tool in the hands of the devil! This nation, where woman and man are equal, were the aristocracy is decadent and the church is false, is seeking to establish the evil on earth. “Bourgogne will continue to act in the best interests of global stability”. A stability that is created by men, by capitalism in its worse form!

For decades Bourgogne wants to create its own stability in the area of the Gothic Sea. A stability that only benefits its own greed for more. Where was Bourgogne when we were in need? They stood there and watched us starve to death.

We, friends, we know where to seek our true allies. The east is calling! Isn’t it Kadiki bread we’re eating? Isn’t it Kadiki milk we’re drinking? Isn’t the Manna coming from Kadikistan?

Our Prince-bishop, in his wisdom, has reached the hand to Kadikistan. He, our true leader, will save us all. See, the sun rises in the east! Our future is where the light rises!”

Sermon of Abbot Julius de Berg-ten-Aken, abbey of St.-Felicitas, Schokeveld

"While we politically differ from our Gouw Marken friends in many ways, the essence of our analysis is the same. Bourgogne is highly selective when it comes to the values it so fiercely defends. The Milesian struggle for independence is answered with bombs and bullets by the Burgundian authorities while the fine people of Gouw Marken are left to starve. Such is democracy, freedom and justice according to the decadent elite in Chagny. We commend the Prince-Bishop for leading Gouw Marken on a better path. A path of modernization and industrialization that will benefit the economy and people of the great nation. With the full and unconditional assistance from Kadikistan we are convinced that the Prince-Bishop will not stray and lead his people to a new era of wealth and strenght."

I'm awfully sorry, but we totally disagree with the commentsregarding Bourgogne made by the Sermon of the Abbot Julius de Berg-ten-Aken in Schokeveld. Indeed, Bourgogne did not send food aid to Gouw Marken, but a lot of countries did not do so, and definitely not because those countries were not interested in the famine in Gouw Marken. We know about Bourgogne that that country is currently working hard to get the Green Peninsula on its feet. Furthermore, Bourgogne is also active with humanitarian aid in Ivernia. Please take into account that no single country has enough recources to help out everywhere in the world. Eiffelland is not helping out everywhere in the world, either, simply because it does not have the resources to do so. The same to Bourgogne: It may not be helping out in Gouw Marken, but in exchange it does help out elsewhere.
Regarding Bourgogne's yearn for stability in the region, Gouw Marken Itself experienced in the past how things can go wrong when the situation is not stable. A couple of months ago, the Gouw-Markense fisher fleet stayed in because of instabilities in the Long Sea. This is a clear example of how normal life can be disrupted in case of instability in the region. Based on that, we completely agree with Bourgogne's policies to keep the Sea Track open..

It is clear this country looks upon a big problem, and in Gouw Marken there’s a common saying: “Eating one’s bread is speaking his word”. We can see a rise of pro-Kadikistan feelings in those regions where the Kadiki aid is distributed, as well as a more moderate public opinion in the north where Eiffelland is doing remarkable efforts to comfort people.

Together with the fact that the south of the country is only “a sea away” from Bourgogne makes it quiet difficult for people to understand why Bourgogne is doing nothing to help them. Bourgogne likes to be generous far away, but not in its own street. For the south, Bourgogne has always been the big I-know-it-better brother, as if more wealth means more moral power. Only the southeast, the region around the capital Markstad, has had a merchant connection with Bourgogne. But with the closed borders, that connection has gone for years now.

Our nation is seeking for a big brother. But how to deal with a whole family? And opening diplomatic connections with Eiffelland and Kadikistan means dealing with two different families. And when the quarrel rises, Markstad remains silent.

Foreign Ministry

We wish to remind our friends in Gouw Marken that the current government is far different than the previous government and has resulted in numerous internal difficulties. For 20 years, the far right wing 'republican' government muddled and destroyed Burgundian regional policy. As mentioned by our friends in Eiffelland, we are doing our best to continue aid to the Peninsular Republic (formally the Colonial State of the Green Peninsula) and ensure that with governmental transition that the people continue to receive aid despite last year's drought. As Matthew 25:30 says, we yes should have offered more assistance to the Catholic brethren of Gouw Marken. Yet political challenges shackled this. Bourgogne's colonial past must never be forgotten and in that spirit we deemed it necessary to aid those in the Green Peninsula. Not doing so would have resulted in the death of thousands or tens of thousands and the blood would be on our hands. We acted as the soul aid to this nation of peoples. Bourgogne has also been distributing aid where possible, both financial and humanitarian, within Ivernia. We aim to ensure stability in the area of the Gothic Sea not for us but for the region and its people.

Farmers, countrymen and “laten”(1): all to the fields

In the countryside, live is coming into another level. Nature is coming alive, and so is our people in the fields. A fairly dry and warm spring has turned the wet fields in a good condition to be ploughed, to be fertilized, to be made ready to receive the seeds that will bring Gouw Marken back alive.

I know, my people, you have struggled. Many have lost their struggle and returned to the Jerusalem of Heaven. And not all struggle is over. But we are ready to leave the past behind and to start all over again. Our gratitude goes to the Lord, who has given us the strength to go through this dark valley, and to all in this country and this world who have prayed for us.

Our gratitude goes as well to those nation who haven’t hesitated to ease our pain, to comfort us and who gave away their own bread to save our families. Let us never forget the efforts done by Cymru Annibynnol, Eiffelland and Kadikistan. We all know a national saying: Highly esteemed are those who do what they preach, false prophets are those who preach and do nothing.

Now, my people, it is time to work. Every field that had used for growing grain, corn or oats has to be burned to the ground and not used this year except for some vegetables. The county lords an abbots will put the restrictions into practice. All grounds left bare due to deforestation has to be tuned into good labor ground. A team of experts will follow-up this evolution. Every county has to open a “higher farming school” for education of farming engineers. Farming must be educated in rural counties beginning in primary school.

A whole range of new techniques are granted permission to be used by special decree, such as chemical fertilization, import of seed in a special quarantined quarter of Markstad Harbor, mechanical improvement of the rural equipment and a widely access to electricity in many counties, among others.

On special occasions, when needed, everyone will be given permission to work on a Sunday after the times of church services. Monks, in these days your services in church may be shortened or held on the field to save time. Priests, pray for a good and rich harvest.

Farmer, countryman, monk: go to work. We call upon everyone in this country to plough, to build, to construct, to harvest an above all, to worship Him who has given us a new beginning. May the people of Gouw Marken be blessed !

To the government of Gouw Marken
After much discusses within walls our government, we could see a possibility of financial agreement between our countries. We believe Gouw Marken has much economic potential that can be tapped into with some money put into.So with this in mind our treasury is happy to offer a loan of £365 million to help with badly needed upgrades to your infrastructure. The loan will have a interest rate of 5.5% for the first year and to be increased by 0.05% per year, the loan can be repaid over a 10 year period if payment doesn't arrive within that time frame we will add a plenty of £120 million including the rest of the money and the interest you own us.

We hope you find the terms and conditions of this loan fair but we are happy to negotiate on it, if you do disagree or want to change the loan amount.

"It is our honour to formally invite Gouw Marken government representatives for an official state visit to Kadikistan. We wish to further invest in the growing ties between our two fine nations. An official state visit is the next logical step in strengthening our friendship. During this historic meeting, should our esteemed friends accept, we will not only be your guides as we visit state-of-the-art industrial facilities, state farms and military barracks, but also your peers as we discus enlarging our economic cooperation. If we are able to work together even closer my government is convinced that we can successfully fight the troubles that are plaguing your lands. "

It is our wish to make the ties between our respective countries stronger and achieve a better understanding between our respective countries. Therefore, also we invite His Eminence the Prince-Bishop of Gouw-Marken for a state-visit to Eiffelland. We envision to a visit to the Katholische Universität Köln, whose faculty of biology investigated the crop disease that destroyed last year's harvest in Gouw Marken. A visit to the Technische Universität Köln, which also teaches and investigates agricultural techniques, would be on the program as well. Of course we would also visit the factories of Magirus-Deutz where agricultural machines are manufactured, as well as several farms aroud Köln. The Prince-Bishop would be a guest of the King. A visit to the Trierer Philharmonie would be on the agenda as well.
